-Every Monday –Knitting & Crochet Group. Come along to learn how to knit or crochet or just join a group of like minded individuals to help make blankets for the homeless and people in wheelchairs. -Every Tuesday 11.30 to 13.00 & Thursday 16:30 to 18:00. – Espan-Glish Group at the Centre. Interchange of Languages. Improve your level of Spanish and help others to improve their English. A donation of 1€ will be appreciated.
-Every Wednesday – Art & Craft Group. Join friends in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. The Art group meet and help each other with various forms of art, water colours, pastels etc. The craft group are currently making cards in various styles including Iris paper folding and Zentangle. Time 14.00 – 17.00 at the Centre.
-Every Friday – Coffee Morning & Boutique. Time 11.00 to 13.00. A wonderful opportunity to meet friends and make new ones over a cup of coffee, tea or fruit juice with a piece of homemade cake. Time to browse our boutique with a range of new and nearly new clothing and accessories. Our bric-a-brac has some surprising bargains! There is also a wide stock of second hand English books. You can book tickets for coming events and excursions. There is also a little bit of paradise to enjoy sitting in the garden. We look forward to seeing you.
-Monday February 4th – Half Orange “Bring and Share” Lunch, widows, widowers and singles group. You are welcome to join us and make and meet new friends at the Centre. The group also meets on the other Mondays of the month for coffee, walks, visits to places of interest, etc. Time 13.00.
-Tuesday February 5th & 19th – Photography Group. From “Good Shot” to “Great Shot”, why not come and learn the art of photography with Rob Bell Photography. A fun and informal group to help you to get more from your camera/photos. Open to all, from beginners to the more experienced photographer, regardless of the type of camera and use. This season we will be looking at the various styles of photography and computer software with monthly themes and photo challenges. Don´t forget to bring your camera. Time 16.00.

Wanted: Looking for Accommodation in Fuengirola. I wonder if anyone could help please. I have a friend in the UK whose 19 year old daughter has been offered a job in Fuengirola, near to the port. She needs a small one bed apartment, maybe something attached to a villa but independent, it would be suitable close to the port, she’s a quiet girl, not a party goer, prefers her home comforts. WHAT!?! Microsoft browser warns users! Don’t trust Daily Mail website? Who are they to Judge? – DoctorLaptop’s Computer News
NewsGuard Is Coming! Microsoft is rolling out a news censoring feature named NewsGuard.
Edge browser users on Android and Apple devices can already just click one button to enable it’s news censor NewsGuard, a “green-red”  rating signal if a website is trying to get it right or instead has a hidden agenda or knowingly publishes falsehoods or propaganda” – as determined by Who!?! It will eventually show up in other devices and web browsers like Chrome, Firefox and Edge. NewsGuard has green-lighted CNN, The Guardian, Buzzfeed and NY Times; it has red-lighted the Daily Mail, Russia Today and Drudge Report.
This week Microsoft began installing it automatically on all mobile editions of its Edge browser in the first stage of what it’s creators hope will be a widespread roll-out to all computers and devices. Edge browser users should receive a pop-up explaining the new service. They can choose to opt-in on the mobile browser itself.
Understandably, independent news agencies and internet freedom watchdogs are very concerned about how, and by whom, the trustworthiness rating will be determined.

Also, look for website blocking lists to be installed in the hardware of new comps and mobile devices. Computer manufacturers will use lists of  “undesirable” web addresses that will be blocked no matter what system you are running. IPTV portals and streaming sites are sure to be targeted; that’s exactly what happened to some MAG IPTV boxes a few months ago.  One system update and all your favs are blocked. Another dirty trick Microsoft is doing is requiring computer manufacturers to use new processors that prevent previous versions of Windows from being compatible. No good old Win 7, and maybe no Linux, on that Windows 10 laptop you buy next year. Of course this will also  require many people and businesses to buy new Win 10 versions of all their favorite old programs

Malagalingo: Free Spanish cinema series every Thursday afternoon in Malagalingo (short films)
Starting on February, every Thursday at 6:30 pm you can come to Malagalingo to watch for free a Spanish short film with an approximate duration of between 10 and 20 minutes.
All of them will be in Spanish language and with subtitles in Spanish when it is possible to find them or with English subtitles when it is not possible.
At the end of the short film until 7:30 pm we will also have a little chat in spanish to comment on the film and practice a little Spanish language
You are all invited to attend for free every Thursday (until full capacity).
We are in Torrox Costa, just opposite Mercadona and BBVA, in the main entrance door that is between MAPFRE and ÓPTICA SALTO, in the first floor. Attention American Readers! Delta Airlines Malaga – NYC flights return: Delta Airlines announces their Malaga-JFK route is returning. The daily flights, at 8.15am, will run from 24 May until the end of September.

Junta de Andalucia offers free colon cancer tests that can be taken from home:
THE Junta de Andalucia’s programme for early detection of colon and rectal cancer is currently in full swing as letters are being sent out to people in Andalucia to apply for the free test from the luxury of their own home.
According to the authority, the test is available to people between the age of 50 and 69, who only have to fill in a form in order to receive the test material at their front door.

Torrox Spanish History Group: Came to the end of very successful year and we look forward to another successful year in 2019.
For February our talk will be on the “History Of Spices in Spain”, and we can look forward to more talks in 2019, Joan Fallon the author will be giving a talk and there will be talks Queen Isabella of Spain and Federico Garcia Lorca and a tour will be organised called “La Ruta de Federico Garcia Lorca” which will take us to the houses where he lived and which are now museums. We will also visit Viznar and Alfacar where he was held prior to being shot as well as well as the Federico Garcia Lorca Park, set up to honour of those people who were shot and killed during the Civil war.
The Torrox Spanish History Group is a charitable organisation set up so that people can come together and learn about the History Of Spain. The idea is that we should meet in a friendly; relaxed and informal atmosphere with like minded people and have fun as well as learning and sharing ideas and knowledge about Spanish History.

Police registration for rental properties: There is a great app called checkinscan which you can register to. It enables your guests to do a self check-in which is automatically sent to the police. This is a totally legal way to register your guests but you do need to register with the police first to get the login to the police website. All the guests records are then kept for you to access any time on the website. This saves a lot of time and guests appreciate not having to send in all their details or passport copies in advance. They have to download the app in their phone or tablet and can then scan the passport and sign when they arrive at the property. It costs approx 0,50€ per entry. No cost to join Checkinscan.com

“When We Are Married” is a play about a group of three couples, old friends and all married on the same day in the same chapel, gathers at the Helliwells’ home to celebrate their silver anniversary. When they discover that they are not legally married, each couple initially reacts with proper Victorian horror – what will the neighbors think? – and all three couples find themselves reevaluating their marriages; hovering closely over the proceedings is the Yorkshire Argus’ alcohol-soaked photographer, keen to record the evening’s events for posterity, and a wickedly destructive housekeeper who is hoping to use the couples’ mortification to her own advantage. In the end, of course, everything turns out well, and the play ends on a happy note.

AGM begins at 7:00 PM and non-members are welcome to join us at the meeting and join in on the conversation. Non-members can offer proposals but do not have a vote. Message to dog owners: Due to free running dogs, not on a leash but with collars, in Sayalonga Campo, who entered my terrace on Saturday morning – the home of my two cats -, and getting aggressive with the cats. They must have had a very heavy fight in which the tom-cat got injured very seriously. I had to take him to hospital where he died after 8 hours at night, due to those very heavy bites of these aggressive beasts. As you can imagine I am more than furious and sad. Guest registration for rental properties: Hi – I don’t profess to be an expert, but this information will hopefully help Jan and anyone else wanting to register guests.

Browser: When I first registered, the advise was to use Firefox. I think other browsers such as Chrome do work, but with Firefox you don’t get a security warning.
Information: You certainly need all the info you mentioned, and I’ve been told that you are supposed to have seen a copy of the actual passport. But you don’t need to scan the passport into the system.
Age: Yes, registration applies to anyone over the age of 16.
Printing: Yes, you can print a copy from the website, and the guests are supposed to sign them on arrival. You don’t have to present the signed copies to the police, but they must be available for inspection on request (I think you have 3 days).
I too live in the UK. Fortunately now the lady doing the meet and greet takes care of all the registration for me. Prior to that it was a problem due to timing – I could only do the online registration on the day of arrival, which was too late to print the forms and get them sent over for signing. So I did my own form in Word, and sent it in advance. Beware, though, that they must be numbered (which they are automatically if you print them from the system). I have heard of fines being levied for forms without numbers on.
I stand to be corrected if anyone spots any errors in what I’ve said.

Renting Info: We started renting out our place in Benajarafe in Spring last year. The policia website is

It’s not a secure site but this is normal apparently! You have to click on “advanced” then “proceed to website (unsafe)”
After you enter your user name and password (you did well to get them!) and enter the site, click on “Grabacion Manual” and the details to be entered come up.You need the name(s), nationality, type and number of ID document , year of birth and sex. I’m never sure about the Fechas – I think F Expedicion is date of arrival of guests and F Entrada is the date you enter the details (it’s supposed to be done within 24hrs of arrival. After the details are entered, click Grabar and the details are sent to the Guardia. That’s all they need.
The completed form then comes up on the screen and can be printed off and signed by the guest. I found the easiest way to get a copy of the form to save or print is to use the computer Snipping Tool to take a photo. However in practice, our local hostess gives them each a blank form to fill in and sign. The Guardia don’t need a copy but as I understand it, the Andalucia Tourist Office requires us to keep a copy of each form and ID document available for inspection for three years.
We try to get our guests to email us copies of their ID documents a few days in advance. That helps our hostess in preparing the bedrooms and we are also then ready to enter the details on to the policia website within 24hrs of their arrival.
