Mums cafe and Tea Room, Torrox Costa: Hello, we would like to introduce ourselves and let you know what we are doing. We are Gary and Andrew, and we moved over from Nottingham in the UK last November. We got married just over 4 years ago and had been talking for a while about changing our lives and moving to Spain, we had been visiting around here often over the last few years. We decided on the Torrox area as we loved it and the surrounding towns. We thought about setting up a B&B or cafe as we were unhappy in our own jobs, Andrew a manager for a Telesales team and Gary Spending the last 20 years in health and social care. After making this decision Andrew found out a few months later his work site were all being made redundant by August of last year. That was the sign we needed and we made our plans.
Andrew’s mum had passed away 2 years before and he inherited a cabinet full of old China tea pots, cups, saucers and plates. His mum had never used them apart from on display so we thought we would put them to good use. Growing up Gary’s mum always spent Sunday baking and he along with his siblings always helped mum bake. This has never left me (Gary) and baking and cooking has always been a joy reminding me of growing up. We made the decision that we would set up a cafe and Tea Room, we opened our doors 4 weeks ago where we cook lunches, brunches, cream teas and afternoon teas and serve loose leaf tea brought from the UK and served in China cups from old China tea pots. We make home made traditional cakes such as lemon drizzle cake, carrot cake and scones. We make our own strawberry jam and clotted cream and serve food we remember as children such as fish finger sandwiches and cheese toasties. We also cook lunches and brunches such as smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, Devilled mushrooms and baked Camembert with crusty bread. For us this has been a joy and does in no way feel like work, we come away everyday feeling happy and having met some great people. We have had some really good feedback that has let us change a few things we were doing and that has also lets us know we have done the right thing. We have a page on Facebook, “mums cafe and tea room” where you can see updates and contact us. We really do hope you will pay us a visit and enjoy what we have to offer as we look forward to seeing you. Avenida El Faro, Block 75, 29793, Torrox Costa. Thanks, Gary and Andrew. FB-Link

BLACK FRIDAY UK power cut plunges Britain into darkness as National Grid outage sparks travel chaos with trains, tubes and traffic lights paralysed. Read article at: https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/9691385/power-cut-uk-trains-tubes-power-lights-outage/
A very concerning development regarding those silly “sextortion” spam emails and why everyone needs to use a good VPN at all times.
Almost everyone has received a spam email that claims to have recorded you via webcam doing naughty things. They threaten to send these videos to everyone on your email contact list unless you pay a ransom in bitcoin. Up till now most of these were empty threats. Real webcam hijacking, while possible, usually requires the attacker to have physical access to the target computer to install malware. There is a famous case of students being monitored at home via webcams in laptops that the school provided. That only worked because the school preinstalled snooping software in those laptops previous to distributing them to students. It’s similar to those “remote assistance” programs like TeamViewer. Which is why I always tell clients, only install TeamViewer or similar programs when needed, and uninstall them when done, do not leave them on your computer or you are inviting hackers in! Besides, everyone including Mark Zuckerberg himself covers their webcam with tape when not in use, don’t you?.
Here is the new twist, Varenyky malware. Antivirus maker ESET has discovered a new Windows malware strain that uses infected computers to send out spam campaigns. However, one of this malware’s most peculiar features is a hidden function that records the victim’s desktop when the user visits an adult website. Hackers can now record your Desktop and the Varenyky team will certainly be able to tie each of the recordings to users’ real life identities. Unless your webcam is on and displaying on the Desktop, the hackers won’t get videos of the victim. But there will be proof positive of who you are, what you viewed, and when&where you did so (ex. they will be able to prove to your boss you were looking at porn while at work, not that DigameXtra readers would ever be in such a situation, it demonstrates my point). This is because the Varenyky malware also includes another hidden feature that extracts usernames and passwords from the victim’s browser and email client, which it also sends to its Tor-based command and control server. If it would ever need to execute a threat to send out evidence emails to extort a user, it would know exactly where it needs to send that recording, and they could even send it from your email, confirming it’s validity!
Varenyky malware emerged in May this year, and has only been active in France, ESET said.
I am sure we will hear more about Varenyky malware in coming months as the hackers add new functions and languages for the text. Eventually it will not just be porn sites it monitors, but any sites that may prove embarassing, personal health issues, political affiliations, etc., anything that the AI determines may be exploitable. This is the beginning of Artificial Intellegence (AI) driven hacking and the total loss of any possible online anonymity. AI can identify you in many ways besides your IP address, it can take typing habits and your computer metadata to create a profile as good as a fingerprint in identifying you! Everyone who is not a trained securtiy expert should assume everything is recorded and tracable, there is no privacy, treat the internet as a public forum. A good VPN will hide your location and identity from being linked to websites visited, a very important security function everyone should use, but it won’t protect you from opening infected emails, getting infected, and then sending out spam for the hackers. -Naythan.
