By the time the group disbanded in 1995 changes in personnel meant that Illsley and lead singer Mark Knopfler were the only two original band members remaining. Illsley was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Dire Straits in 2018.
Illsley has produced two albums of his own, with Mark Knopfler as a guest musician, and has helped with Mark’s personal projects and charities.

New laws: Spain plans crackdown on electric scooters. If you use an e-scooter, Segway or any other unregulated personal mobility vehicle in Spain, here’s how the law is about to change.
Spain’s Directorate General of Traffic has approved the following laws for e-scooters and similar vehicles that will come into force shortly:
– Personal mobility vehicles such as electric scooters are now officially considered vehicles across Spain.
– They can no longer be used on pavements. Riders caught doing so will be fined up to €500 by Spanish police.
– Riders can also be fined €500 for using their mobile phone or driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. These “distractions” are the most common causes of fatal accidents involving e-scooters or similar in Spain.
– The maximum speed for all roads is set at 25 km/h. There are also calls for manufacturers to start making this the maximum speed at which personal mobility vehicles can operate. A decision to drop the speed limit for all vehicles on two-way streets in cities from 50 to 30km/h will make it safer for e-scooters to be on the road as well.
– E-scooter owners must have a circulation certificate provided by the manufacturer but they will not need a government registration number as previously considered.
– Riders are advised to wear a reflective vest and take out insurance, although for the moment this isn’t mandatory. There is no law stating that helmet usage is obligatory either.

Animal rights group condemns dog poisoning in Axarquia: Animal welfare group denounces systematic poisoning of dogs in the Axarquia area.
The animal welfare group Tidus has denounced the poisoning of a number of domestic dogs in the hunting areas in the villages scattered across Axarquia.
In particular, the contaminated meat has been found in the vicinity of hunting grounds in Almayate, Torrox, Alcaucin, Riogordo and Colmenar, a number of animals have been killed after ingesting meat containing sharp nails.
So far, dozens of domestic animals have been killed or seriously injured due to the cruel act, and Tidus has begun an investigation alongside the local Guardia Rural to find the culprits.
The organisation is also urging for precaution to dog owners walking their animals in these areas to keep an eye on what their animal is eating and to report anything suspicious to the police. Velez Malaga approves population control for stray cats: The scheme has been entitled C.E.S. which involves the capture, sterilization and release of female cats to prevent them from breeding.
Although the plan has been approved in principal by the regional government, a allocation still has to be organized in the next 2020 budget in order to start the first wave of sterilizations.
There also needs to be a change in the municipal regulations in order for it to be implemented.
Velez Malaga will not be the first in Andalucía to begin such a program. The scheme is already very successful in Marbella, Mijas, Malaga and Nerja.
