Recommendations & Requests
Car Clean Malaga Recommendation: I would like to wholeheartedly recommend Warren at Car Clean Malaga if you need your vehicle sprucing up or valeting.
My Suzuki (pictured) is 15 years old and it now it looks as though it’s 2 years old, fantastic job on the exterior paintwork, headlights, wheels and interior (which was really filthy). He even cleaned the engine, a very reliable, trustworthy and concientous gentleman. The car was collected, a vehicle left with me in case of emergencies and returned within 48 hours.

Wasp nest problem: Can anyone recommend individual or local company (Competa/ Torrox/ Nerja) that could help with a wasp nest problem.
Please contact: jimnurture AT hotmail DOT com. Jim, Competa/ Torrox road.
Beware: A lady in Nerja centre yesterday had a man at her door in a block of flats in Nerja. (he had already gained entry through the main door.)
He said he was from Endesa and needed to check the appliances, as someone was having work done in the block and it was causing problems.
The lady was English and he spoke to her in English.
After she let him in he wanted her D N I number and would not accept her driving license and demanded to see her passport or T I E-card, which was in her bedroom.
She, went into her bedroom to get it, and during this time he was wanting her to turn appliances on and off. He then said he needed to go downstairs to the main fusebox to check something, and when he had not returned, she went to check and he and his companion had disappeared.
So had money from her purse which she had left out being so flustered. Initially he told her she should have received a letter informing her of their visit. So please everyone be on your guard !! and don´t let anyone into tour home.

Business Transactions In Cash Now Limited To Only €1000:
{Translation, summary}
It should be noted that this barrier only applies when “one of the intervening parties is acting as an entrepreneur or professional”. For example, if you go to a garage and the repair of your vehicle exceeds €1,000, you will not be able to pay in cash under any circumstances. Therefore, any shop or business will only be able to accept cash payments up to that amount. However, if it is a purchase between private individuals, e.g. furniture or a car, there would be no limitation.
The anti-fraud law has already entered into force and entails a reduction compared to the previous limit of 2,500 euros.
The measure affects Spanish companies and professionals. “However, the aforementioned amount will be 10,000 euros or its equivalent in foreign currency when the payer is a natural person who can justify that they do not have their tax domicile in Spain and are not acting as a businessperson or professional,” the law states. In other words, tourists coming to Spain will be able to enjoy a cash payment limit 10 times higher. Source, Spanish: https://www.larazon.es/economia/20210729/pu5gj3oxxbfqrb3b6zk27jdjra.html

Cat Mews- Velez Malaga approves new animal welfare ordinance and CER method: {Translation, summary}
The new ordinance, among other things, includes the implementation of a programme for the management and control of urban cat colonies through the ‘CER Method’ (Capture, Sterilisation and Return) with the aim of progressively reducing the cat population of each colony, creating a census of urban cats grouped in colonies in the municipality and encouraging the adoption of cats. This programme will be implemented by means of an action plan carried out by volunteers who will have a card approved by the City Council and who may be feeders, coordinators or capturers, and as those responsible for the cat colonies they will also have a series of obligations to fulfil. Germany tightens rules for travellers on virus concerns: Germany will require all unvaccinated travellers arriving in the country from Sunday to present a negative COVID-19 test result, stepping up health checks on returning holidaymakers amid concern over rising case loads in holiday destinations.
Previously, only airline passengers were required to produce a negative test if they were not vaccinated and had not recovered from COVID-19 in the previous six months. People entering by road, rail or sea were not required to do so. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/germany-tightens-rules-travellers-virus-concerns-2021-07-30/

Tokyo Olympics- Djokovic out, Barega wins, doubts over Biles, Russians face backlash: Novak Djokovic’s bid for Olympic gold ended and Ethiopia’s Selemon Barega was a surprise champion in the 10,000m as the Tokyo Olympics continued to throw up shocks on day seven.
World number one Djokovic had been aiming to complete a ‘Golden Slam’ but lost to Germany’s Alexander Zverev. Djokovic had been aiming to become the first man to complete a ‘Golden Slam’ – winning Olympic gold and all four Grand Slams in one year. He had already won the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon but his bid for history was derailed when Zverev came from a set down to win 1-6 6-3 6-1 at the Ariake Tennis Park.
World number five Zverev now has the chance to take the gold medal when he faces Russian Karen Khachanov in Sunday’s final. Photo:BBC. Full article: https://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/58023012
Football News- Rebel clubs to press on with Super League after court ruling: Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid vowed to press on with the European Super League project on Friday after a court ruled against what the clubs called “UEFA’s threats.”
A Spanish court on Friday threw out an appeal by UEFA against the decision this month to unwind the actions taken against all of the 12 Super League founding clubs.
The three remaining clubs not to abandon the Super League plan — Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus — released a joint statement welcoming the court’s decision against “UEFA’s monopolistic position over European football” and reiterated their stance to continue planning a breakaway competition.
A ruling by the mercantile court in Madrid on July 1, made on request by the Super League, declared null a battery of disciplinary measures that nine of the 12 clubs behind the Super League agreed to in May after a backlash against the proposed league.
It also voided the combined payment of 15 million euros ($17.8 million) by the nine clubs for what UEFA called a “gesture of goodwill,” as well as the pledge made by the nine that they would accept a fine of 100 million euros ($118 million) if they seek again to play in an unauthorized competition.

On-Line Scam Update- Phony Call Centers Tricking Users Into Installing “BazaLoader” Ransomware and Data Stealers: Targeted users are sent email messages informing them of a forthcoming subscription charge unless they call a specific phone number. By tricking the recipients into calling the number, the unsuspecting victims are connected with an actual human operator at a fraudulent call center, who then provides them with instructions to download the BazaLoader app to fix the issue, which is really malware. Because the victim installs the app, it evades detection by security software.
In May, Palo Alto Networks and Proofpoint revealed an elaborate infection mechanism that leveraged websites associated with fake ebooks (World Books) and movie streaming subscription services (BravoMovies) as a stepping stone to deliver rigged Excel spreadsheets containing the BazaLoader malware. The latest attack disclosed by Microsoft is no different in that the call center agent serves as a conduit, urging the caller to navigate to a recipe website (“topcooks[.]us”) in order to cancel the non-existent trial subscription.
Once comprimised, the attacker can move quickly within a network, conduct extensive data exfiltration and credential theft, and distribute ransomware. Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/07/phony-call-centers-tricking-users-into.html
Amazon Stock Loses $130 Billion In Market Value After EU regulators fine Amazon $1.2 billion for data protection violations: The Luxembourg National Commission for Data Protection issued a decision against the company earlier this month, claiming that its processing of personal data did not comply with the European Union general data protection regulation.
Amazon has come under scrutiny by the EU before. In November regulators filed antitrust charges against the company, accusing Amazon of using its access to data from companies that sell products on its platform to gain an unfair advantage over them.
