Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment depending on the current travel restrictions. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link.

Coronavirus deaths in Spain soar to 130 in a day: The number of coronavirus infections is dropping but, simultaneously, the number of deaths is rocketing.
-The strong growth in infections during the beginning of July is starting to be reflected three weeks later in the morgues with 130 deaths in just 24 hours, a figure that has not been seen since 11 May when Spain was still suffering the effects of the fourth wave.
-However, in just one day Spain’s cumulative incidence rate fell almost 20 points, from 673.52 to 653.81 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, a drop that has not been seen for weeks. Full article: http://www.surinenglish.com/national/202108/03/coronavirus-deaths-spain-soar-20210803184642.html

-The cumulative incidence rate has risen for 33 consecutive days and stands at 597.6 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, some 13.3 points more in 24 hours and 61.5 points more in a week.
-By provinces, Malaga is once again the one with the most cases, with 1,270, followed by Seville with 796, Cadiz with 764, Almeria with 543, Cordoba with 439, Granada with 228, Huelva with 223 and Jaén with 196.

ANDALUCIA

The Covid passport in discotheques is postponed until the TSJA gives the go-ahead to the measure in Andalusia: {Translation} Updated: 03/08/2021 19:57h
-The Covid passport for nightlife will not come into force this Thursday. This has been announced by the Minister of the Presidency and spokesman of the Andalusian Government, Elías Bendodo, who has pointed out that he will first ask the courts to rule on this measure, which in places like the Canary Islands has already been overturned by a ruling.
-Bendodo, who has hoped that the TSJA will rule on this matter “as soon as possible”, has indicated that this measure is taken for “greater legal certainty” when applying the measure.
-Nightlife entrepreneurs have asked the Junta that if in the bars and nightclubs Covid passport are imposed to access the interior of the establishments, the capacity restrictions that exist until now will be lifted.
-In the end, this postponement has been granted by means of a referral to the TSJA. In this way, the demands of the employers’ association of the nightlife sector, which had considered the measure to ask for the Covid passport as “early and without consensus”, have been partially deactivated. -The municipalities with more than 5,000 inhabitants that currently have limited night mobility are Marbella (Malaga), Estepona (Malaga) and Montoro (Cordoba). Nerja Saved From Lockdown: {Translation, summary}
-Nerja has left the red zone of high incidence of Covid-19, a day before the provincial public health alert committees meet to review the current restrictions for contagions. On the other hand, Conil de la Frontera has passed the threshold of 1,000 cases. OTHER NEWS

Another WhatsApp Scam Alert: The scam that seeks to steal your WhatsApp account with an SMS: The cybersecurity company ESET has warned of a new attack detected in the last hours that seeks to rob users of their account on the messaging platform WhatsApp with the sending of a fraudulent SMS.
-The cybercriminals behind the threat pose as WhatsApp technical support and contact the user through an SMS message to inform you that your phone number, the one linked to this service, you have been registered in a new account.
-Next, and to verify that the person they are addressing is the owner of the account, the cybercriminals they ask you to resend a six-digit security code that you will receive via SMS.
-If the victim sends the six-digit code to verify their identity, they will have completely lost control over their WhatsApp account and the cybercriminals will be able to log in with their phone number. That is, they can steal your account and impersonate the victim.
-ESET urge the users of this application to be vigilant for the possible reception of this type of SMS. If you see it in your inbox, they advise you to delete it immediately “in order to avoid a security breach,” as they point out in a statement.
-They also remind you that it is impossible for the potential victim’s number to be used to register a new account, since WhatsApp only allows one account per registered phone number. Source: https://spainsnews.com/the-scam-that-seeks-to-steal-your-whatsapp-account-with-an-sms/
