Cautionary Tale about Re-Homing a Dog
Just a word of warning to others.
In July/August time I saw an advert for an older dog looking for a home, as his previous owners had kicked him out, replacing him with a new puppy.
I went to see him, and the story was told that his owners had said they no longer wanted the dog, so it was ok to rehome him.
So rehome him we did! We took him in, bathed him and fed him, took him to the vets where he had to have his ears cleaned out, but we realised he was deaf (from the mess in his ears possibly) and treated him for worms and ticks.
He integrated into our family, and became happy and comfortable with the situation.
The we made the decision to move back to England, and of course take him with us. So thanks to Action for Animals, we went to get him micro chipped and jabbed.
However we then found out he already had a micro chip, and the owners had reported him missing.
Well, try as we might to contact the previous owners nothing happened, and try as I might to contact the people who allowed me to take the dog in the first place, again, nothing.
So now the dog has been reported to the officials as found, and we have to wait three weeks till he is declared as abandoned , and we can change the chips details.
Which means he hasn’t been able to join me in England!
Please; if you rehome an “abandoned” dog, or foster, make sure that these problems don’t occur! A simple letter from the ex owners saying they don’t want the dog, if it’s chipped, or make sure the dog is in the dire situation you believe it to be in!
I can now be denounced for stealing this persons dog, when I was told 100% that he is looking for a new home, without even being told where the old owners were, or given contact details just in case.
This isn’t fair to the dog, or to me, he is so happy and lovable now, and if they decide they want him back, we would have no choice.
I will not name names, they know who they are, and they need to wise up a little bit.
UK Postal Voting – Ooops.
Thanks to Alan (Alcaucin) for querying my message concerning postal voting. I got the initial info from local council offices in the UK. I saw a leaflet that mentioned the new registering online in the office. (We are going to be here, renting for a while.) I had a chat with a helpful young lady, I mentioned how difficult it was to use a postal vote from overseas with the short time involved. She was flicking down the screen and said do it online, just download the forms and post them. I didn’t check myself!! After Alan’s post I was back in the offices again yesterday and spoke to the same young lady. She looked online and went to speak to someone else. Oops. The initial info was wrong, you can apply online but the forms are mailed, not emailed.
Sorry folks….
Cheers, Keith, duntravellin’ wotsapninatgmaildotcom

Services – Bouquet for the Dog Academy
On behalf of APA Estacion Esperanza and CAS, the Costa Animal Society.
We would like to convey our sincere gratitude to the Dog Academy for all their help this year in our various charity fund raising events.
The Dog Academy always turns up for training sessions, rain or shine with dependability and help enormously with dog owners’ obedience and training problems.
Over the last few years Wendy and Allen have been instrumental in helping raise in excess of 15,000€ to assist Spanish animal charities based in the Axarquia. Wendy’s entertaining exhibitions of advanced agility and obedience training are always a hit. Proof of their professionalism is that they make such incredible performances look so easy. Well done
Wendy Towe being presented with a bouquet of beautiful flowers and a bumper hamper by Laura Downes of APA & Scott Huston from CAS.

Services Available Obtaining a Boletin
You will need to find an electrician and a plumber who can inspect your electrical and water installations in your house in order to issue boletins.
It is basically a safety certificate to show that your wiring and plumbing is of a certain standard before the electric and water companies will connect your property to the mains supply and complete the contract.
Perhaps a Digamigo can recommend someone to complete these for you although the person posting the original question didn’t say where they were. The plumber I use for general plumbing work is in Torrox pueblo and speaks good English: Salvador tel: 633424211

Recommendation – Caballo Andaluz Restaurant, Torrox-Costa
Four of us ate at this lovely cosy restaurant , and would highly recommend a visit. The food is very good and reasonably priced, and the staff are very welcoming and friendly.
They are on Torrox Costa just back from the front line restaurants, so a little less likely to be seen easily.
Walking from the lighthouse end, with the sea on your left, walk until you come to the exercise equipment on the right, just go behind the exercise equipment and you will see a sign directing you to the restaurant up the stairs. Ave del Faro, Block 75. Tel:.952 534 807.
Closed Tuesday.
