Covid Andalucia- Andalusia has 167 municipalities with the rate of Covid greater than 2,000; 23 less in a week: {Translation} 16/01/2022, 10:12
-Nearly 1.4 million Andalusians live in the 617 municipalities with a Covid-19 coronavirus incidence rate of more than 2,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days, led by Hinojales (Huelva), which has the highest rate in Andalusia with 6,666.7.
-1,376,880 people live in the 167 Andalusian towns with incidence rates above 2,000 Covid cases in the last two weeks, which represents 16.2% of the population of the community.
-This represents a significant decrease in the last week in line with the sustained fall in the cumulative incidence rate in the community over the last few days. Thus, there are 23 fewer municipalities with a Covid rate above 2,000 in the last seven days and a decrease of 445,676 inhabitants, 24.5% less.
-Almería is now the province with the highest number of localities with a Covid rate of over 2,000 confirmed cases in the last 14 days, with 39, followed by Granada with 34; Jaén with 32; Córdoba with 30; Huelva with 14; Málaga with eight; Cádiz with seven; and Seville with three.
-Despite the overall decrease at regional level, three provinces have increased the number of municipalities with a rate of over 2,000 Covid cases in the last two weeks – Almeria with 16 more, Cadiz with four and Huelva with one – while the other five have reduced it – Jaen with 13 less, Granada and Seville with ten, Cordoba with six and Malaga with five.
-Cordoba, Almeria and Jaen are the only capitals that exceed 2,000 Covid cases in the last two weeks, while the rest are below, led by Granada with 1,779.9, followed by Huelva with 1,767.3, Malaga with 1,483.2, Cadiz with 1,231 and Seville, which with 1,084.6 has the lowest Covid rate of the Andalusian capitals.
-The eight municipalities of Malaga with similar parameters are Algarrobo (2,318.5), Arenas (2,973.7), Benamargosa (2,019.5), Iznate (2,094.8), Vélez-Málaga (2,304.4), Fuente de Piedra (2,253.9), Benalauría (2,283.1) and Cortes de la Frontera (2,186).
-The 34 municipalities of Granada in the situation are listed in the source article. Source, Spanish: https://andaluciainformacion.es/andalucia/1022145/andalucia-mantiene-167-municipios-con-tasa-covid-superior-a-2000-23-menos-en-una-semana/

SPAIN

Up to 40% of patients included in Spain’s coronavirus figures are actually admitted to hospital for other illnesses: The number of people being treated ‘with the virus’ instead of ‘because of Covid-19′ has risen sharply due to the spread of omicron and the protection offered by vaccines
EL PAÍS has questioned the regions as well as a dozen hospitals and specialists. While the majority responded by saying that they did not have precise information, the data collected show that between 25 and 40% of hospitalized patients are in this situation. Spain Extends Entry Restrictions for All EU/Schengen Area Countries for Another Week: The Spanish authorities have announced that all European Union and Schengen Area countries, except for Switzerland, will continue to be part of its COVID-19 risk list for another week.
According to the latest update made by the Ministry of Health of Spain, the updated risk list will enter into force tomorrow, January 17, and will remain valid until January 23. Can pharmacies in Spain charge for COVID certificates?: The answer is no, a pharmacy cannot charge for printing a COVID certificate. The question arose after a pharmacy in La Coruña decided to charge 1.50 euros for the document that shows a person has recovered from COVID, is vaccinated or has had a negative test result.
Last June, pharmaceutical organisations agreed that the service must be free and voluntary and that if any pharmacy could not or did not want to provide the COVID certificate then they did not have to, but under no circumstances were they to charge for it. UK

All Covid restrictions in England will be scrapped in 10 days, according to reports: The current ‘Plan B’ measures are due to be reviewed on January 26 – in 10 days time. A senior government source told the Sunday Express that all of the measures currently in place under the plan will be ditched.
Mandatory mask wearing in schools, as well as on public transport and at indoor events, Covid passports and the ‘work from home’ rule will all be scrapped, reports suggest.
All that will remain will be a requirement to isolate for five days with a positive Covid test and the need to take lateral flow tests for international travel.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid was last night said to be ‘sure’ that the restrictions will not be needed after the January deadline.
He is expected to formally announce in the coming days that the restrictions will not be renewed. A source said he ‘feels confident about the decision’ because of the falling number of cases and evidence that Omicron is not as dangerous as other variants. Tennis News- Novak Djokovic deported from Australia after judges uphold decision to cancel visa: The men’s world number one had been waiting since Monday when the original decision to cancel his visa to enter the country was quashed. Immigration minister Alex Hawke on Friday exercised his personal powers to cancel it for a second time “on health and good order grounds” before a Federal Court hearing on Sunday decided his fate.
Chief Justice Allsop spoke to initially confirm the unusual move had been made to allow court proceedings to be recorded. He then revealed a “unanimous decision” had been reached. “The orders of the court are, one: the amended application to be dismissed,” Judge Allsop said, adding that Djokovic must pick up the bill for both sides’ legal costs. “Two: reasons to be published at a later date.”
There could be further legal wrangling to come, but the decision means Djokovic faces a three-year ban from Australia, which typically accompanies a deportation ruling. Full article: https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/novak-djokovic-deported-australia-judges-065642697.html

How identity theft works on WhatsApp and what you can do to prevent it:
According to security experts, a growing number of people are falling victim to SIM swapping, a scam used by hackers to access passwords and empty bank accounts.
The scam is known as SIM swapping, whereby a phone number is cloned and used by identity thieves by assigning it to a new SIM card, after which they are able to access passwords and empty bank accounts. In order to carry out this cloning, thieves make use of a mechanism that is available on the dark web for around $200, or even with inside help from corrupt employees at cell phone companies who cut off the user’s service.

Witchcraft ‘online’- a business in explosion and out of control: Today the sorcerers of the tribe do not minister in remote caves, but they do it through the mobile, and they do not need to whisper their spells in the ear, but it is enough for them to emit them by WhatsApp, SMS or video call. Nor do they need to appear in the ad sections of newspapers to make themselves known as they did in the past, since social networks and searches of the Internet already supply them with plenty of clientele. MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin
We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.
Free small testers are available on request. Please contact us to find out more or to order:

Recommendations & Requests

Recommendation – Mandy’s Paintbox: I would like to give a personal recommendation for Mandy’s Paintbox. I wanted a brightly coloured through lounge painted over in a neutral colour so that my dad could move in. I contacted Mandy and she came the next morning to assess, advise and give an estimate for the job which involved 3 coats to cover. When I accepted, she helped move all the furniture into the centre of the room ready for painting the next day and completed the work the following day, which was amazing. She even left the feature white borders on the walls all as I’d asked and returned the furniture to where it had been. Lounge transformed all in a day’s work. Brilliant service from a lovely lady.

Tennis News- Djokovic appeal to be heard Saturday after Australia cancels visa again: Unvaccinated tennis star Novak Djokovic won the right to take his fight against deportation from Australia to a Federal Court on Saturday after the government cancelled his visa for the second time over COVID-19 entry regulations.
The government undertook not to deport him until the case was over, although the world’s number one player was nevertheless ordered to return to pre-deportation detention at 8 a.m. (2100 GMT Friday).
Deportation from Australia usually leads to a three-year ban on returning to the country. That would make Djokovic 37 the next time he would be allowed to compete at the Australian Open.Photo:Reuters.

Be Careful What You Post On Social Media In Spain- You Could Be Charged With Crimes Of Libel and Slander, Or Sued For Defamation!{Translation}
Two residents of Seville sentenced for insulting civil guards on Facebook by calling them “corrupt”
-Two new sentences confirm that everything that is published on social networks can have a consequence. Two Sevillian courts have convicted two residents of the province of Seville for insulting civil guards. In their Facebook profiles they attacked agents from the Los Palacios and Sanlúcar la Mayor after being dissatisfied with police actions. The two convicts called the police officers “corrupt” ; which has earned each one a conviction for crimes of libel and slander with publicity and threats.
-The professional association AUGC has announced this Friday these sentences, won by its legal services . “It must be clear that insulting in a social network does not exempt the author or authors from responsibility, and from this professional association the due advice and support will be provided, to put the facts in the hands of Justice,” says a statement sent to the media. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/provincia/sevi-condenados-vecinos-sevilla-insultar-facebook-guardias-civiles-tildarlos-corruptos-202201141118_noticia.html
(Note: Some well meaning people, in an attempt to alert their peers to potential dangers, think it is a good idea to post on FB regarding bad service or possible criminal activity. And that used to be common. That is no longer the case in the EU. Laws have changed and courts see things differently now. If you identify specific individuals or businesses by name, or photo, or a vehicle by plate number, or any unique identifier, you open yourself to charges of defamation, slander and libel, even if what you say is true. If prosecuted, you may win the case, but with the lawyer fees and lengthy court hassles, you still pay a price. Even if you use a fake account, spoof your MAC address and use a VPN, they can usually still find you as most VPNs will cooperate with a court order. -Ed.)

New scam targets drivers by placing QR code stickers on parking meters:
Although the scam took place in Texas, it is extremely simple and could easily happen anywhere. It is important for people to be aware of such scams and ensure that QR codes are genuine.
The San Antonio police warned people of the scam on their Twitter account on December 20, stating that “people attempting to pay for parking using those QR codes may have been directed to a fraudulent website and submitted payment to a fraudulent vendor”. Government proposes new quotas for self-employed of between 184 and 1,267 euros per month according to their income: The Government’s idea is that the new system – a recommendation of the Toledo Pact and pending for years – be rolled out over the next nine years, progressively. In 2023, for example, the self-employed who earn less than 600 euros per month would pay a monthly fee of 281.52 euros. Now the minimum fee reaches 294 euros per month, so these workers would already notice a reduction. Those who earn the most, with net returns above 4,050 euros per month, would see their quota increase to the new maximum of 351.90 euros next year. (So the poor pay almost 50% tax, while the top earners pay less than 10%? -Ed.)
At the end of the period, in 2031, the system would have been fully implemented according to income, with minimum installments of 183.6 euros per month and the maximum would reach 1,266.6 euros in the lower and upper tranches, respectively. Fuengirola café openly refuses to check COVID passports: One café in Fuengirola is openly refusing to check COVID passports, as they are unwilling to “restrict the freedom” of their customers.
“I have never asked for a COVID passport nor am I going to do it. The fact that they are vaccinated doesn’t mean they are not infected,” stated the owners of a café in Fuengirola to the newspaper Malaga Hoy, as they are unwilling to “restrict the freedom” of their customers.
Natalia, one of the owners of El Pasaje, the establishment that has challenged the rule implemented on December 20, has been open about her refusal to check passports. Andrew will no longer use the title “His Royal Highness” or undertake any public duties while defending the case as a private citizen.
Andrew’s official roles will be given to other members of the royal family.
Buckingham Palace made the announcement within hours after a letter of more than 150 veterans of the Royal Navy, Air Force and Army called on the queen to strip her second son of all titles and ranks in the armed forces.

The EMA warns about booster vaccines against Covid: “They can oversaturate the immune system”: {Translation, 1st 4 paragraphs}
-The head of Strategy for Biological Health Threats and Vaccines of the European Medicines Agency (EMA), Marco Cavalieri, has expressed his doubts about the need to give booster doses of the vaccine against Covid-19 “Continually” for fear of “oversaturating the immune system with repeated vaccinations.”
-At a press conference on Tuesday, this representative of the European regulatory body pointed out that they are observing with “concern” a vaccination strategy that involves vaccinating every three or four months , with the exception of the immunosuppressed.
-“We must be careful not to oversaturate the immune system with repeated vaccinations,” he warned, noting that there is also the risk of generating “fatigue” among the population.
-“We have not yet seen data regarding a fourth dose, and we would like to see these data before we can make any recommendations, but at the same time, we are quite concerned about a strategy that involves repeated vaccination in the short term,” he explained. Study Finds Cannabis Compounds Prevent Infection By Covid-19 Virus:
The researchers found that two cannabinoid acids commonly found in hemp varietals of cannabis, cannabigerolic acid, or CBGA, and cannabidiolic acid, also known as CBDA, can bind to the spike protein of SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19. By binding to the spike protein, the compounds can prevent the virus from entering cells and causing infection, potentially offering new avenues to prevent and treat the disease.
“Orally bioavailable and with a long history of safe human use, these cannabinoids, isolated or in hemp extracts, have the potential to prevent as well as treat infection by SARS-CoV-2,” the researchers wrote in an abstract of the study.
The study was led by Richard van Breemen, a researcher with Oregon State’s Global Hemp Innovation Center in the College of Pharmacy and Linus Pauling Institute, in collaboration with scientists at the Oregon Health & Science University. Did Anthony Fauci Lie Under Oath? Project Veritas ‘Exposes’ Fauci’s Involvement in Bat Virus Research At Wuhan: Project Veritas, the far-right activist group, has released a video contradicting Dr Anthony Fauci’s claim under oath when he said that NIH and NIAID were not involved in gain of function research involving the study of bat viruses. The video claimed that despite objections from DARPA (Defence Advanced Research and Projects Agency), NIAID, being headed by Dr. Fauci, went ahead with the research being undertaken in Wuhan, and several sites in the U.S.
Project Veritas claimed to have accessed ‘never before seen’ Department of Defence (USA) documents which shows that a proposal floated by EcoHealth Alliance related to study of bat-born Coronaviruses in Wuhan, was rejected by DARPA. The agency had dubbed the proposal, named Project Defuse, as ‘too dangerous’ and that it would violate the ‘gain of function’ moratorium.
“NIAID, under the direction of Dr. Fauci, went ahead with the research in Wuhan, China and at several sites across the U.S,” claimed Veritas.
The video then goes on to show a letter from U.S. Marine Corps Major Joseph Murphy, a former DARPA researcher, stating that SARS-CoV-2 is an American-created recombinant bat vaccine or its precursor virus.
“Major Murphy’s report goes on to detail great concern over the COVID-19 gain of function program, the concealment of documents, and the suppression of potential curatives, like Ivermectin and Hydroxychloroquine, and the mRNA vaccines,” the outlet claimed. Doctor warns- ‘Catching Covid can make your penis smaller’: A study has found that the rare symptom has been linked to cases of “long term” Covid.
Urologist Ashley Winter said that proper blood flow to the penis can be disrupted by the virus, which in turn can cause erectile dysfunction.
Dr Winter also referenced a urologist’s study that found two men who had completely recovered from the virus still had traces of it in their penises. Both had regularly operating parts before they caught the virus.
Both men went for penis implant surgeries months after they had been infected. Full article: https://www.stokesentinel.co.uk/news/stoke-on-trent-news/doctor-warns-catching-covid-can-6487070

COVID-19

Covid Andalucia- Andalusia again lowers its Covid incidence and also ICU patients, deaths rise to 30: {Translation, summary} 12/01/2022 13:15
-The sixth wave of Covid continues to lose strength in Andalusia. This is highlighted by the fact that the incidence rate of the pandemic fell this Wednesday for the second consecutive day, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health. This figure now stands at 1,560 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, 49 points less than yesterday. One week on, it is also down to 557 – when yesterday it was 594.
-However, the number of infections is still very high. Andalusia reported 11,565 on Wednesday, a figure somewhat higher than the previous day and also than that reported on the same day last week. However, it is a far cry from the almost 40,000 reported on Monday 3 January, the more than 15,000 on 31 December and the almost 20,000 on the 27th of the same month.
-As with all waves, the first thing to fall is the number of cases and incidence, a trend that already seems to be underway. Next will be hospital admissions, then ICUs, and finally deaths. But until that time, these numbers will continue to grow, a product of the rise in infections in previous weeks.
-The number of hospitalised patients rose to 1,724 on Wednesday, 21 more than the previous day. This is the smallest increase in two weeks. To put this in context, yesterday they rose by more than 200. In the ICU there is a slight drop today. From 229 to 227, which is also encouraging.
-However, the worst news comes from the number of deaths. There are 30 on Wednesday, the highest number in months. This rise in the number of deaths from Covid in Andalusia fits in with a scenario in which the peak of the wave has been passed. Because, when the number of infections drops, the number of deaths still rises for several weeks. In any case, since the beginning of the pandemic, 11,692 people have died in the region. SPAIN

The DGT informs of the new way to recover driving license points, and other new rules: {Translation} 12/01/2022 11:12
-The new Road Safety Law approved by the Spanish Congress of Deputies brings with it new features regarding the driving licence points system. One of the most important is the possibility of recovering up to two points by voluntarily taking safe and efficient driving courses certified by the Directorate General of Traffic (DGT).
-These courses will have certain requirements and conditions (to be developed through a ministerial order) in order to be able to participate. One of them will be to have a positive balance of points on the licence. They may take place once every two years and for each course, two points will be obtained, up to a maximum of 15.
-On the other hand, the period of time that must elapse without infringements for a driver to be able to recover the initial balance of points on his or her licence has been unified at two years.
-As the DGT reminds us, users start with 12 points, except for novice drivers, who initially have 8 points.
-Serious or very serious offences can result in the loss of between two and six points. Until now, the period to recover them ranged from two to three years, depending on the seriousness of the offence. When the new measures come into force, it will be two years in all cases, as long as all the points have not been lost.
-In addition to all this, there are some behaviours that from now on will mean a greater loss of licence points, such as driving while holding a mobile phone, which will go from three to six points; or not wearing a seat belt, which will now mean four points less instead of three.
-The DGT itself has announced these changes on its Twitter account, which will come into force on 21 March, three months after their publication in the Official State Gazette (BOE) on 21 December.

World Economic Forum warns of risks in Spain: {Translation, summary}
The World Economic Forum has warned of several risks for Spain, including employment levels and the demographic crisis, prolonged economic stagnation, the debt crisis in advanced economies, the possible failure of climate action and the possible fracturing of domestic policies.
In its seventeenth issue of the global risks report, the Forum has warned that the first risk for Spain is that of employment and the demographic crisis. In this sense, Spain, together with Montenegro and Turkey, are the only European countries where the main risk is related to employment.
The second risk is associated with prolonged economic stagnation, followed by a possible debt crisis in advanced economies, the possible failure of climate action and an internal breakdown of Spanish politics.

ANDALUCIA

Andalusia dodges the restrictions due to Covid by leaving almost the entire community on alert level 2: {Translation} 01/12/2022 16:23
-Andalusia has been spared another week of restrictions due to Covid. And it does so because there is no area of the community that exceeds level 2 health alert, as reported Wednesday by the territorial committees that analyse the epidemiological situation in each province. Thus, all of Andalusia is now at level 2 except for Huelva, which remains at level 1.
-Until the entry into force of the Covid passport, both level 1 and 2 were accompanied by the entry into force of certain limitations on capacity and timetables. However, this is no longer the case. At least until 30 January, when the Board’s decision lapses, levels 1 and 2 will act as in the case of level 0, i.e. without restrictions.
-This decision, explained the Health Department, is taken into account several factors: the incidence at two weeks, at one week, in the over-65s, Covid tests, the number of hospital and ICU beds occupied and vaccination coverage. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-toda-andalucia-esquiva-restricciones-covid-quedar-casi-toda-comunidad-nivel-2-alerta-202201121543_noticia.html

OTHER

“Cloud” Services Are Spreading Malware- Threat actors are actively incorporating public cloud services from Amazon and Microsoft into their malicious campaigns: These deliver remote access trojans (RATs) such as Nanocore, Netwire, and AsyncRAT to siphon sensitive information from compromised systems.
Using existing infrastructure to facilitate intrusions is increasingly becoming part of an attacker’s playbook as it obviates the need to host their own servers, not to mention using it as a cloaking mechanism to evade detection by security solutions.
In recent months, collaboration and communication tools like Discord, Slack, and Telegram have found a place in many an infection chain to commandeer and exfiltrate data from the victim machines.
A new cloud based attack called “SysJoker” has been observed targeting machines running Windows, Linux, and macOS operating systems as part of an ongoing espionage campaign that’s believed to have been initiated during the second half of 2021.
Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2022/01/hackers-use-cloud-services-to.html

Editor’s Note: I know I am repeating myself, so sorry for another sermon on the cloud. However, this article confirms what I have been claiming since they introduced the “Cloud Services”. It is impossible to secure the Cloud! The Cloud Is NOT Secure, It Gets Hacked Regularly, It Gets Data Mined and Now It Spreads Malware. Do NOT store confidential items in the cloud, consider anything you upload to the cloud as public access. Do NOT rely on the cloud for storing items you can not afford to lose, for those items you should have a primary backup on an external memory device. Popular cloud services include Google Drive, Microsoft Azure, Dropbox and One Drive.

US Federal Trade Commission Given OK To Force Monopilist Meta (Facebook) To Sell Off Instagram and WhatsApp: A previous version of the same action failed last year because of a lack of detail.
The FTC has since revised the case and a federal judge has said the claim is now “far more robust” and can go ahead.
The FTC’s claim revolves around the idea Facebook had systematically bought up rivals to eliminate competition, effectively giving itself a monopoly. The key examples were Instagram and WhatsApp, which Facebook acquired in 2012 and 2014.
The FTC was seeking “divestiture” – the selling off of those companies to eliminate the alleged monopoly. Full article: https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-59968565

Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.

Email: People must check their spam/junk folders on a regular basis. The big 3 email companies, Gmail / Yahoo / Hotmail, have declared war on the smaller email providers by often designating emails from other email providers as spam, regardless of the content.
If you receive an email from a trusted sender, and it is in your spam / junk folder, move it to your inbox using the “move to” button in your email toolbar. After that, new emails from that sender will go to your inbox. -Ed.

DoctorLaptop Message- Prices of New Computers & Parts Rising Again:
I research new computer availability almost daily. After a recent dip in prices of computers, they have shot back up and are now more expensive than ever!
It is very rare to find a decent laptop under €500 now, and those are basic, entry level models, with Spanish keyboards. A solid mid-line laptop from a major brand will cost over €700.
In an effort to provide an affordable yet powerful product I am focused on mini PCs. I buy brand new units, and upgrade them to specs comparable to powerful new laptops.
Some advantages of mini PCs are: you can plug in an UK keyboard, these use very little power (10Watts vs 90W for a typical laptop, or 250-500W for a tower), and these run cool even in the summer heat.
In the following days I will have 2 of these mini PCs available for sale. One is ready now, see it in the For Sale section. Even the prices on these mini PCs and the extra parts are rising, so get yours now, I may not be able to offer these again at this price!

Covid Spain- Spain has 134,942 cases, 247 deaths due to COVID-19 and the incidence exceeds 3,000 points: {Translation} 11/01/2022 20:32
-The autonomous communities have notified the Ministry of Health on Tuesday of 134,942 new cases of COVID-19, 79,601 of them diagnosed in the last 24 hours. These figures are higher than on the same day last week, when 117,775 positive cases were reported, which is evidence of the upward trend in the evolution of the pandemic.
-The total number of infections in Spain now stands at 7,592,242 since the start of the pandemic, according to official statistics. The cumulative incidence in the last 14 days per 100,000 inhabitants stands at 3,042.11 points, compared to 2989.47 points yesterday, Monday. A total of 1,441,506 positives have been recorded in the past two weeks.
-In Monday’s report, 247 new deaths have been added, compared to 116 on Monday. As many as 90,383 people with a positive diagnostic test have died since the virus arrived in Spain, according to data collected by the ministry.
-Currently, there are 16,555 patients admitted for COVID-19 across Spain (16,496 on Monday) and 2,200 in ICU (2,200 on Monday). In the last 24 hours there have been 2,238 admissions (2,023 Mondays) and 2,153 discharges (997 Mondays). The occupancy rate of beds occupied by coronavirus stands at 13.34 percent (13.40% Monday) and in ICUs at 23.50 percent (23.58% Monday).
-The autonomous communities have performed 2,087,443 diagnostic tests, of which 915,509 were PCR and antigen tests, with an overall rate per 100,000 inhabitants of 4,438.89.
-Meanwhile, the positivity rate stands at 38.31 percent, compared to 37.12 percent on Monday. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends that this figure should be below 5 percent to consider the spread of the virus as ‘controlled’. Treat Covid like the flu and return to normal without masks or restrictions, urge Spanish family doctors: In a statement published on 11 January, The Spanish Society of Family and Community Medicine said, “Neither the health system nor society as a whole can afford to continue testing asymptomatic patients or those with mild symptoms and isolating all those who are positive, because of the consequences for society and the economy due to the massive absence from work of healthy people. We must end the exceptionality. Covid-19 must be treated like other diseases. Acquired immunity and the arrival of Omicron allow it.”
Regarding current restrictions including the use of masks, they added, “At the present time it no longer makes sense to maintain them and their elimination should be planned, starting with the absurd return of the mandatory use of masks in outdoor spaces.” Full article: https://www.surinenglish.com/spain/treat-covid-like-20220111121707-nt.html

Electricity price in Spain doubles in just ten days: In the space of just 10 days, the wholesale price of electricity in Spain has risen from 112 euros/MWh to 223 euros/MWh.
Since 6 January, the cost of electricity has not fallen below 200 euros/MWh, except for Sunday 9 January when it cost 120 euros due to lower demand for electricity at weekends.
Compared to last year, the price of electricity on the wholesale market is 170.6 per cent more expensive than the price on 11 January 2021 when it cost just 82.45 euros/MWh even though Spain was in the grips of storm Filomena. Companies with between 50 and 100 workers have two months to approve their equality plans: Entering the final stretch for companies with between 50 and 100 workers to approve their equality plans. On March 7, the three-year adaptation period that the first Pedro Sánchez Government gave to these companies, some 12,000 active according to INE data, ends to have the measure ready.
These plans seek to identify the challenges in terms of equality in the workplace, such as the wage gap or the so-called “glass ceiling”, and solve them through concrete measures. Failure to comply with this obligation is a serious offense, sanctioned with fines ranging from 751 to 7,500 euros, each year more persecuted by the labor authority. Hefty fines for riders who cycle across pedestrian crossings in Spain: “Contrary to what many cyclists think, bikes do not have priority on pedestrian crossings. All You Need to Know About COVID-19 Vaccination Passports’ New Validity Rules for EU Travel: All vaccinated travellers who plan to visit the European Union and Schengen Area countries from February 1 need to check whether their vaccination is valid for travel to these countries, based on the dates their vaccines were administered.
By February 1, all the EU and Schengen countries are set to put an expiry date of nine months at most for all COVID-19 vaccination certificates, the validity of which can be extended as soon as travellers have their booster shots administered. However there are a few exceptions. In Greece, vaccine certificates will remain valid for seven months only regardless of the type of the vaccine. Poland Pushes Back Against EU Bully Tactics: The European Union executive is set to demand that Poland pay around 70 million euros ($80 million) of fines in the coming weeks for failing to scrap its system for disciplining judges, sources have told Reuters.
The dispute is one of many battles pitting Poland against the EU, which accuses the nationalist government in Warsaw of backsliding on democratic standards, including the independence of the judiciary. Warsaw denies the charge.
Asked about the case, a deputy Polish justice minister last week accused the EU of making “illegal demands” and said Warsaw would not give in to “blackmail”. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/eu-will-demand-poland-pay-fine-disciplining-judges-2022-01-11/

“I Have Nothing To Hide” Argument For Lazy Internet Security Practices Is A Dangerous Attitude: {Naythan} It’s very simple. It is called IDENTITY THEFT! If you don’t use basic security practices, you are far more likely to have your identity stolen. Hackers pretending to be you can then withdraw funds, take out loans/creditcards, and even transfer your home title, to then take out multiple mortgages in your name, and you probably won’t find out until the damage is done. Home title theft is among the top hacker activities these days.
The basics to protect yourself:
-Sign out of your email and social media accounts when not using them.
-Never post personal info on social media.
-Use a VPN, and a premium one, not a free version. Free VPNs only change your IP address, they do not encrypt your data.
-Do not open emails from strangers.
-Delete old emails and WhatsApp conversations, do not let thousands of old emails/conversations accumulate in your account. These will contain a library of your personal details if maintained. Why do you think Gmail gives you so much free storage? I promise you it is not for your benefit.
-Use strong passwords and change them annually. A strong password has no real words or names. It should be a jumble of small letters, capital letters, numbers and punctuation marks. Yes, all of those. And a minimum of 13 characters long.
-Use different passwords for each account.
-Avoid “password manager” apps. These get hacked regularly, exposing all your passwords in a single hack attack.
-Use 2 email accounts, one for trusted personal contacts, the other for everything else. Having a 3rd email to use when signing up for possibly insecure activities such as online games, subscriptions, greeting eCards and software downloads is a good idea. Any free service should be suspect. If something online is free, then in most cases you are the product being sold to their business partners.

The New Trend in Healthcare- Do-It-Yourself: Frustrated with an overburdened health system, more consumers are turning to gadgets, home kits, apps and monitors for tasks and tests previously handled by trained medical workers. They are monitoring their own blood pressure, conducting EKGs, tracking blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and pricking their own fingers for blood tests normally done at the doctor’s.
Many doctors support patients taking more responsibility for their own care, but warn that too much DIY without expert guidance could miss important health problems. Despite those concerns, more physicians are recommending that patients shoulder at least some additional work, because staff shortages and worker burnout mean that patients often face long wait times for appointments and overloaded care providers.

Recommendations & Requests

Covid Tests for Travel Info: I wonder whether any Digamites can offer some info based on their very recent experience? We are UK citizens booked to fly into Málaga on 26 Jan for a 2-month stay. We’ve registered with SPTH.gob.es and filled in all the info we can at this stage – we cannot do anything further until 48 hours before the flight. There is no indication on the website about what we will then be asked or whether we will be required to do a test.
My question is this: will we have to do a lateral flow or PCR test and, if the former, is our word for a negative result enough? With only 48 hours to go, it’ll be a bit late to start finding a test centre, awaiting results etc. Any info would be very much appreciated, thank you! Judi / London

COVID-19

Covid Andalucia- Andalusia scores the largest drop in hospitalized by Covid since October: {Translation} 10/01/2022 17:18
-Andalusia has added more than eleven thousand Covid infections this Monday. There are, specifically, 11,588, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Families. And yet, today there are 18 fewer patients admitted to hospital for coronavirus. The vaccines, the lower virulence of the omicron variant and the preventive measures adopted by the population have meant that the number of infections is growing exponentially on the one hand, and the number of admissions and deaths decreasing on the other.
-Thus, this Monday there are a total of 1,471 patients hospitalised by Covid. This is 18 less than last Monday and although the weekend may have caused under-reporting, it is true that this is the biggest drop since mid-October, before the explosion of Omicron.
-In the case of ICUs, there is minimal growth. There are 224 on Monday, two more than on Saturday. Although the number is growing, it is still far from the more than 700 patients reported at the peak of the third wave, the one that put the most pressure on the health system.
-As in the case of hospitalised patients, the number of deaths is not rising with the same intensity as the number of Covid cases. Thus, this Monday, thirteen deaths have been recorded, whereas at the beginning of last year there were more than a hundred every day. In total, since the beginning of the pandemic, 11,634 people have died in Andalusia. Covid Malaga- Covid’s hospital pressure in Malaga has increased again, another 66 patients have been hospitalised in Malaga and six have been admitted to the ICU: {Translation, summary} 10Jan22 14:58
-Although the lethality of omicron does not seem to be as high as in previous variants, the number of people who have to be admitted to hospital after being infected continues to grow. In fact, in the last few hours another 66 patients have been hospitalised in Malaga and six have been admitted to the ICU due to their serious state of health. In addition, one person has died as a result of the virus.
-The rate also continues to rise, with the province – which has been at level 2 alert – at very high risk for Covid since 30 December. The situation is not improving in this respect either. This weekend it has risen by a further 20 points to 1,466.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, compared to 1,446.0 on Friday. In the case of Malaga city the rise has been double: 43 points since Friday; it now stands at 1,733.7 cases.
-In general, the incidence remains very high in all health districts of the province, although it falls in two: Axarquia, which continues to have the worst data despite going from 2150.6 to 2078.3; and Valle del Guadalhorce, where it stands at 1373.0 (1492.7 on Friday). For its part, the Serrania de Ronda stands at 1820.0; Malaga district (1691.8), La Vega de Antequera (1315.2) and Costa del Sol (1045.0). SPAIN

Gov’t fails to distribute EU recovery funds for economic stimulus – Confirms the fiasco of ending year without spending more than half of the European funds it had for 2021: {Translation, summary} 10/01/2022 21:10
-The Government of Spain has only spent 11.001 million euros of the 24.198 million of eu funds that are pledged to run in the Budgets of 2021 and, therefore, has been left in the drawer for more than 13,000 million in the first year of the Next Generation EU, the macroplan driven by the European Commission to revive the economies most affected by the Covid, among which Spain figure in the first place.
-The reality is that the percentage of resources that has been paid effectively and, therefore, has come to the real economy has been very limited, and according to own data the Government has only just reached the 45%. The percentage indicates in any case, the effort phenomenal spending in the last few weeks of the year, since it was just a couple of months, that percentage rose to about 20%.
-These unspent funds would have been lost had it not been for an amendment regulations included at the last minute in the accounts of 2022, and that has enabled the possibility of spending those funds this year. With the old fiscal rules that those resources would have gone into limbo.

UK

UK mobile operators diverge on European roaming charges: A split has opened up between the UK’s major mobile network operators on whether to reintroduce roaming charges for data and phone calls when travelling in Europe, with Virgin Media O2 brands opting to retain free roaming while EE, Vodafone and Three customers will pay extra.
-Roaming charges were abolished in the European Union in 2017 (although some countries retained data caps), but the EU-UK Trade Agreement, which came into force last May, removed the requirement for surcharge-free
roaming, although later UK legislation placed a cap of £45 per monthly billing period “to protect consumers from unexpected charges”.

Tennis News- Djokovic back in training after winning appeal to stay in Australia: Novak Djokovic was back in training hours after winning a court challenge to remain in Australia on Monday, thanking the judge who released him from immigration detention and saying he remained focused on trying to win a record 21st tennis major.
The fight over the world number one’s medical exemption from COVID-19 vaccination in order to enter Australia and play may not be over, however, as the government said it was still considering another way to deport him.
A spokesman for Immigration Minister Alex Hawke said he was considering using his discretionary power to revoke Djokovic’s visa again. That could mean a three-year ban on re-entering.

CHANGES FOR THE NEW YEAR

Dear Readers, I must cut back on unnecessary tasks as it adds hours to my work some days. Everyone needs to follow the rules, as stated at the top of every issue!
Rules page: https://digamextra.com/about
Submissions Info: To avoid having your submissions returned for correction you MUST follow these rules from the rules page.
-Everyone must sign their submissions with a name and location (nearest town). The bottom of every post should look like this: Naythan/Torrox Costa. Do not write an “area”, like “Nerja area”. Just pick the nearest town and always use that. You may additionally include a location to meet or pickup, but your location is required in any case.
-I cannot post pics you copy from the internet unless you include a photo credit with a link to the source. Doing so is against copyright laws. If you include a copyright protected pic without the credit I will simply not post that pic. I will not make corrections or changes to any such submissions after they are posted with the infringing pic removed.
YOUR COOPERATION IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. -Ed.

What happens to the temporary contracts already signed that the new  labor reform eliminates?: The coalition government closed 2021 with the approval of the labor reform. The norm, still pending validation by Parliament, aims to reduce the high figures for temporary work in Spain and eliminates temporary contracts in force so far (such as the many work and service contracts) and basically creates two new modalities. But the old temporary contracts do not decay instantly with the approval of the legislation in a Royal Decree-Law approved on December 28. The Executive has given three months for the entry into force of the new contractual figures and has also granted a transition period for contracts signed before that date. Football News- Arsenal dumped out of FA Cup by Nottingham Forest: Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said his side were not good enough as their hopes of winning a record-extending 15th FA Cup were sunk at the first hurdle by a 1-0 defeat. Arsenal were lacklustre and could have few complaints against a well-organised Forest side who earned themselves a Midlands derby against Leicester City in round four. Tennis News- Djokovic opens a dramatic court battle to stay in Australia:
-Detained tennis superstar Novak Djokovic gets his day in court Monday, with an Australian judge poised to hear his make-or-break bid to avoid deportation and be allowed to challenge for a record-breaking 21st Grand Slam title.
-The unvaccinated Serb had his visa revoked on arrival to Australia last week and he has spent the last four nights at a notorious Melbourne immigration detention facility.
-The 34-year-old’s lawyers will tell the court he should be allowed to remain in Australia because a recent second Covid infection made him exempt from vaccine entry requirements.
-Government lawyers reject that argument saying Djokovic failed to meet the medical criteria as his illness was not “acute,” according to a filing late Sunday.
-They will seek to have his appeal dismissed with costs, paving the way for his deportation as soon as Monday evening. Full article: https://www.france24.com/en/live-news/20220109-djokovic-opens-dramatic-court-battle-to-stay-in-australia-1

Tennis News- Nadal lifts first 2022 title in Melbourne, breaks Roger Federer record: Rafael Nadal has recovered and now bounced back from his pre-Australian Open bout of Covid-19 to win the Melbourne Summer Set warm-up event, surpassing an impressive Roger Federer feat in the process.
The 35-year-old proved too good for impressive French qualifier Maxime Cressy in a hard-fought 7-6 (8-6) 6-3 contest, winning his first event in Australia since his 2009 grand slam epic against Federer.
Crucially, the tournament win made it 19 seasons in a row for Nadal in which he has won at least one ATP Tour event – surpassing previous record holders Federer and American great Andre Agassi.
