Recommendations for an Olive Factory

The olives are pressed in the Torrox Cooperative which is the building to the back of the large car park at the top of the village. You won’t be able to miss it soon due to the queues waiting with their olives.

There is one in the north west corner of the large car park on the road down from the Torrox roundabout to the pueblo. It’s where the Migas is cooked.

Don’t know any details but I think you have to register as a cooperative member and you get a credit for the weight you bring. I’m sure others know the exact details. Mark

The olive press in Torrox is the large building in the main car park

(just down from the roundabout at the Competa Road end of town).

Before you start to collect your olives I would speak to them as I’m not sure if you have to book a time to take them in or set up an account with them first.

I think there are rules about the condition of the olives (ie not over-ripe)

and no twigs in the bags etc.

It is a Co-Operative so your olives will just go into the mix and I believe they either pay you in money some time later or in olive oil.

If you want to have just your own olive oil bottled then I understand there are presses that will do this but I think they are further afield (from what a neighbour said I think there’s one in Velez, but not sure where I’m afraid).

For anyone that hasn’t been to the Torrox oil press, we always buy our extra virgin from them for salads and it’s delicious.

They sell the local sweet wine too from barrels. Barbara

 

 

Recommendation Que Tal Restaurant

Four of us went to the new Que Tal restaurant in Sayalonga last night, and it was a great experience. The food was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious – a whole step up in standard for the area. Would highly recommend, but it’s small, so booking is probably wise.
