Thanks from Action for Animals

Last month, Action for Animals together with Juan Molino of Naturvets, visited Candido Lara school in Cómpeta to give a presentation about the importance of caring for animals. Since the presentation, the children have been busy fundraising. They’ve held a second hand market, rattled their collection tins during a “mini march” around the village and sold their paintings during Cómpeta’s recent Art Walk. They’ve raised an incredible €207.46 in total!
A huge thank you to the teachers at Candido Lara, the organisers of the Art Walk and most of all a massive thank you to the pupils of Candido Lara. Well done, everyone!

 

Obelisk ?

Near the seaward end of El Faro, Torrox Costa,  where the Paseo  meets the road there is an obelisk with the word Greenwich carved into it.   Does anyone out there know the significance of it?  No, it’s not on the Greenwich Meridian.  Replies to Digame for general information.

Recommendation-Jewellery Repairs

I would like to recommend a lovely young lady who sells and repairs jewellery at the El Trapiche market every Tuesday, (and probably elsewhere!). Over the past two years I have asked her to repair several pieces for me, from costume to white gold jewellery, and I have always found her work excellent and very reasonably priced.  She has some lovely pieces for sale too.  Ruth

 

 

Recommendation Needed –Curtain Aleration

Could anybody recommend somebody to do a professional job of shortening two pairs of new curtains recently bought from Leroy Merlin?

They were expensive and are lined so I feel a professional job is required. I have seen places offering sewing repairs but really want to go somewhere that’s recommended.

He has  workmen for the jobs you want done, big or small,  reforming, toldos, electrical, painting etc. the lot. Our Thursday quiz at 3pm at Bar Ateneo, Avenida Espana, behind Repsol Garage on Torrox Costa.(same street as La Farola).
