Services Another case for Steven Rowles Animal Healing.
Steven received a call regarding a dog called Lucky. Lucky was a large black dog of mixed breed fostered for a weekend, but never left after the fostering family fell n love with him. But before long his new parents discovered an unpredictable aggression towards other dogs. Walking him which should have been a pleasure, now became a worrying issue. Steven quickly made friends with Lucky and discovered a very loving dog, that was willing to learn. But, yet another animal with an unfortunate traumatic start in life with previous irresponsible owners and his sense of wrong behaviour was a little distorted.
For Lucky’s second session, Steven took one of his own dogs to desensitise Lucky. But Lucky immediately attacked the car before Steven could remove his dog. After putting Lucky through Stevens calming and desensitising process, at the end of the session, Lucky stood side by side with Stevens own dog and couldn’t have been more disinterested.
For Lucky’s fourth session Steven took him to Velez dog park. After putting him through his, No Fear technique, Lucky was let off inside the park with 20 other barking dogs. What was a willful, fearful dog, was suddenly a happy animal, running with the pack, without aggression. It was an amazing moment.
Lucky also went through two more sessions of leash training as he could be unpredictable on a lead, one with Steven and one with his parents, which he responded to really well and proved he could be relaxed around other dogs, both on the lead and off. Walks are now worry free.

Recommendation – Weston Kennels
Hi ,after looking for somewhere for our dog Jessie to stay over xmas
We found Weston kennels & we were made very welcome by terry and
Lucy and shown around.
On dropping Jessie off it was sad to leave her behind for 2 weeks,
she’s never been left before.
Well we should not have worried after some photos and texts she was
looking so good while we were away and thoroughly spoilt it seems.
We would certainly book with Weston again when need to and recommendations we will give to anyone in need of pet accommodation and very reasonably priced Well done Weston kennels.

Recommendation Needed – Fibre Optic Providers
Telefonica/Movistar have given me the “new customers only” treatment for the fibre optic installation in our small community. In addition, they would charge me significantly more for my UK calls, and it turns out that “two free mobile ‘phones” actually means two SIM cards, which are of little use if you don’t already have a mobile ‘phone.
Do any Digamigos have any advice about alternative providers who are worth considering or a must to avoid?

The Ashcan School and American Realism artists
A Fully Illustrated Lecture in English by Tricha Passes

The Ashcan School was an artistic movement in the United States during the early twentieth century that is best known for works portraying scenes of daily life in New York, often in the city’s poorer neighbourhoods.
The lecture will explore the marvellous range of work produced by this group of artists in New York City before the First World War. Drawn by the realism of Dutch seventeenth century artists and the influence of nineteenth century French artists such as Courbet and Manet these young American artists sought to capture life in all its variety on the streets of New York.
Their subject matter included leisure activities such as shopping and entertainment, immigrants arriving in the tenements on the Lower East side, playing and recreation in Central Park and swimming at Coney Island.
The Ash Can group wanted above all for emerging American artists to find a voice for ‘their own art in their own land’.
About Tricha Passes
Tricha took her BA(Hons) at the Courtauld Institute, University of London and won the Sotheby’s Prize for a research project on Edvard Munch and the Christiana Avant-garde. Her MA studies were undertaken in the Visual Culture Department at Bath Spa University.
Tricha has taught continually in the Art History Department at Bristol University since 2005 and in History since 2013. In 2009 she won the Teaching and Learning prize for the Faculty of Arts at the University of Bristol. She also has taught in the Visual Culture Department at the Faculty of Creative Arts at Bristol UWE since 1998, the Department for Continuing Education at Oxford University since 2008 and on American Studies Programmes in London since 1999. In December 2013, Tricha became an accredited lecturer for NADFAS.
