Caravan Storage in Cantabria/Asturias
I am looking to take a touring caravan to the north of Spain and keep it there for a whole year.
The idea is to store it somewhere and then take it to a caravan site for a couple of months in spring and again in autumn.
I have tried many caravan sites directly but despite them being open all year none of them have offered what I need.
Can anyone give me any ideas/information please?

Endesa Charges
There is no reason why a meter replacement should lead to an increase in billing, but if this happens, you need to look closely at the bill that was received after the meter was replaced:
– has the number of units (kWh) used gone up?
– has the price per unit changed?
– have any other monthly/bi-monthly charges increased?
– has Endesa ‘accidentally’ transferred you on to another tariff when the meter was changed?
This last is particularly important, as (for example) if you were on a DH (dual-tariff, peak/offpeak) contract, and you switched to a standard tariff, then your bill, and all the extra bits added, will increase significantly.
You need to look at your first new bill forensically! This sometimes isn’t made easy by it being a “split bill” involving two sets of meter readings. (When doing the meter swap-out, Endesa should have provided you with the old meter’s final reading, and the new one’s starting figure (possibly 0000).) A subsequent bill should be easier to read.
So, three important things:
– How many units (kWh) did we consume?
– How much per unit were we charged?
– Are we on the right (same) tariff?

Occasional Accommodation wanted
We are building a house at the Caleta end of Torre del Mar, due to be completed at the end of this year. We need to make short trips to the project for a few days at a time. Having stayed in apartments and hotels in Torre, we are struggling to find somewhere convenient with a decent sized comfortable bed where we can get a good night’s sleep.
If anyone can recommend somewhere near to the hospital, Caleta end of Torre or maybe has a spare room or apartment that is sometimes empty, we’d be very interested in exploring an arrangement. We could even buy a bed and linen that we would move to our new house in due course. Also having somewhere we can leave a small case or box of bits and pieces to avoid having to ferry them back and forth would be great and it would be good to make some contacts in the area! Kerry @ interfacing.co.uk. Thank you!

What’s on –Weekend in Morocco
The Phoenix Trip are planning a weekend in Morocco in May visiting Chefchaouen, Fez and Asilah
The itinerary is:
1st Day – Tarifa/Tangier/Chefchaouen/Fez
We embark on a fast catamaran to Tarifa (45 minutes crossing). On arrival, we complete border procedures and continue to the picturesque village of Chefchaouen, with a brief visit with a local guide
Founded in 1471 by Moulay Ali Ben Moussa Ben Rached El Alami, Chefchaouen served as a Moorish fortress for exiles from Spain. Over the centuries, the city grew and welcomed Jews and Christian converts alike.
Chefchaouen’s powder-blue buildings mirror the cloudless Moroccan sky – but religious rather than stylistic reasons are behind the design choice. Jewish teachings suggest that by dyeing thread withtekhelel (an ancient natural dye) and weaving it into prayer shawls, people would be reminded of God’s power. The memory of this tradition lives on in the regularly repainted blue buildings.
Nowadays Chefchaouen is a rich cultural tapestry of Berber tribespeople, Muslims and Jews, along with descendants of the Moorish exiles from Spain who lived there in the 1400s. Berber tribespeople can be seen wearing distinctive cotton clothing paired with woven hats that are decorated with brightly coloured threads.
Continue to Fez. Arrival at the Hotel Sofia.
2nd Day Fez
After breakfast we have a tour with a local guide. Fez is classified as the “Universal Cultural Patrimony” by UNESCO. It is the first of the Imperial Cities, since it dates back to the 8th Century. It is also the first Muslim cult city of Morocco and owns one of the oldest universities in the world, before the Sorbonne of Paris.
Highlights are Los Zocos; The Mellah (former Jewry); The Doors of the Wall, among which Bab Bou Jeloud, built by the Almohads in the 18th century and Bab Shorfa and Bab Ftouh, deserve special mention; Dar El Makhzen (the royal palace) with its stunning golden gates (not open to the public); Plaza Neyyarin (cabinetmakers) houses an extraordinary fountain; etc. Free time in the afternoon.
An ancient breeding ground for scholars and artisans, imams and gourmands – Fez is a supremely self-confident city with a historical and cultural lineage that beguiles visitors. And there is something intangibly raw about a place where 70,000 people still choose to live in the maelstrom of a medina so dark, dense and dilapidated that it remains the world’s largest car-free urban area. Donkeys cart goods down the warren of alleyways as they have done since medieval times, and ruinous pockets loom around every corner – though a government drive to restore Fès el-Bali to its former glory is spurring changes.
Fez’ medina can seem like it’s in a state of perpetual pandemonium; some visitors fall instantly in love and others recoil in horror. But its charms are many. Seemingly blind alleys lead to squares with exquisite fountains and streets bursting with aromatic food stands, rooftops unveil a sea of minarets, and stooped doorways reveal the workshops of tireless artisans.
Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
3rd Day – Fez/Asilah/Tangier/Tarifa
Breakfast and we depart to the coastal city of Asilah, where on arrival you will have free time to stroll through the Alcazaba near the sea and wander in its many shops.
The tortilla, paella and Rioja served in most of Asilah’s restaurants are reminders that this compact town was Spanish territory for a long time. The town is sleepy for most of the year, but in the summer months its population triples and the streets and town beach are crammed with sun-seeking Moroccan and Spanish families, some of whom retain holiday houses here. The best time to visit is in spring or autumn when the weather is still pleasant but the holiday hordes have left.
Continue to Tangier and exit on a fast catamaran towards Tarifa.
