We have just for the second time used the services of Sarah and Tony for 4 days. Last year we had an emergency as we had to go to Holland for a funeral. We have always used friends to pet sit but noone could come. Sarah and Tony Bell, who we got from Digamextra, are a blessing.

We have 5 dogs (2 of which very big mastines), 2 ponies, 4 cats and 8 chickens. All animals fell in love with them.

This little ten week old boy was found abandoned at two weeks old. He is now happy and healthy and needs a forever home. He eats well, is affectionate, uses a litter tray and is used to cats and dogs being around.

Urgent – 2 Pups Need a Home

This is an urgent appeal for two young Alsatian cross pups who need a new home.  They turned up in the garden of an older couple in the Torrox/Nerja campo last week.

Unfortunately, the couple are in their 70s and cannot cope with these youngsters.  To compound matters their house is up for sale so the garden cannot be a long term sanctuary for these waifs.

They are both lovely, 2-3 month, old males who are a little shy but good natured.  If you could take in one or both of they little guys please call

Missing Parasol

Sunday 16th of April there had been a music afternoon at the little plaza behind the Town hall and next to bar El Recreo in Competa, during the Art Walk. I lent out my parasol and stand, and it was there to protect the musicians against the bright sun.   Unfortunately nobody took care of it after the show or brought it back to my place. And it was there for days unfolded.

Both, the people of bar Fernand and the people in the Town hall did see it, but nobody took action. Until I last week I realized I missed mine. Asked them and looked for it in the Salon de Actos and Bar Fernand, but it did not bring the solution. The parasol and its stand has gone, lost.

Maybe somebody picked it up and is so honest to bring it back to me?

Or maybe somebody knows where is has gone?

On the picture another one as an example of how it looked like. The concrete stand was of a round shape.

Please let me know if you know more about it, because it is a pity to just loose my things in this way.

What’s On – Phoenix Club

Ronda Romantica Feria Saturday 27^th May

During the three day festivities, locals and visitors are taken on a voyage of discovery to 19^th century Spain, a time of bandits, muleteers and romantic travellers.  Hundreds of locals from Ronda and the surrounding towns and villages participate in this unique recreation of 19^th century life in this stunning part of Andalucia.

Dressed in typical clothes and garments of the time, these colourful characters take part in a historical street parade and representations of different historic events. The sound and smell of gunpowder, artisans markets and equestrian exhibitions are just some of experiences enjoyed by visitors during the celebrations.

The locals also spend hours decorating the streets and shop windows of the city with colourful and eye-catching flowers, plants and banners, transforming Ronda into the most romantic of destinations.

Another of the unquestionable stars of the event are the horses which are also dressed in stunning attire, typical of the 19^th century, and their elegant riders also wearing their traditional garments.

Trip to Gibraltar – Friday 9^th June

The Phoenix Club are off on their next shopping trip to Gibraltar on Friday the 9^th June and we have a few seats still available.

We have pick ups at at the A1 Garden Centre, Torre del Mar bus station and finally at Algarrobo Lidl at 08.30.  The bus is parked in Morrisons car park and we leave Gibraltar at 16.30.  Due to visa restrictions on entering Gibraltar, please advise if you are a non EU citizen when you book.  Also it is important to remember to bring with you your EHIC card, just in case, and passports are essential.  On the way to Gibraltar we stop to spend a penny and for coffee.

We would greatly appreciate if payment was made before the journey.

The price?  €12pp includes a €1 gratuity for the driver.  Children under 12 can join us for 1/2 price.   Still the best value on the coast!
Early booking is recommended if you like a particular place, as seat numbers are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Plenty to see in Gibraltar apart from the shopping!

Trip to El Chorro by train – Friday 23^rd June

Come and join us on a train trip to El Chorro and then onto to the fabulous Ardales lakes by coach where we have lunch.

We take the coach to Malaga station where we board the train for El Chorro.  On arrival, there is time to have a chukka around to view the fabulous Camino del Rey, a quick coffee then off to the lakes. There is an opportunity to walk through the King’s Tunnel, to view El Chorro from a different perspective.  Comfy shoes, a torch and hats a must.

Services Needed- Help – Problems with a Caldera
Since a bit more than 3 years we do have a Baxi Caldera for warm shower water and the stove.

It works on gas. Now it does not function properly anymore.

It starts with 22 degrees and does not go warmer than 33 degrees and then error in the screen: E01 and cross in flame.

(we also have problems with the electricity, it goes off regularly, but electrician could not solve that

maybe there is a link between that and the caldera as well?)

Any ideas who we can ask to have a look at it?

I’ve tried a number of local ferreterias  with no luck. Nor have I been able to find exactly what I want from any online sources….except in large quantities or on US or UK sites which don’t ship to Spain.

Can anybody out there suggest where I might get my hands on four very heavy duty lifting eyebolts with a collar (shoulder), .along with wedge anchors for concrete and shackles large enough to handle 1″ or so marine rope?

Or alternatively a D bolt of similar size with concrete anchor?

Size needs to be something like 1/2 Inch to 16 mm in diameter and 4″ long.   Shackle or D bolt diameter needs to be large enough to thread through

1 inch diameter manilla rope.    Something like the attached pics.

Home or Foster Please

Please can you help home or foster these two lovely fellas.

The first one is about 2 months old and I found him in the wheelie bin near the river  in Torre Cuavos. He seems healthy and has a good appetite.

Still very much a puppy not timid and has a healthy appetite.

The second is a bit older about 9 or 10 Months. He was abandoned near Burriana Beach in Nerja.

He has a chip but the number is discontinued.

He is very laid back and loves to go for his walks.

Very friendly and well trained.

Tried to find owners but no joy.

I unfortunately cannot offer a forever home due to work commitments.

What’s on- New Aquacise Class in Competa

Starting this month we have a brand new class – Aquacise in an indoor pool in Competa on Mondays at10am. Dance and workout to music from the 50’s through to the 00’s in a private indoor pool. There is a place to shower and change, grab a coffee, juice or smoothie or even a fresh salad.

Aquacise is a fun way to work out for people of all ages! It’s gentle on your joints and is a great workout. We can have up to 10 people so its a very social way to exercise and get motivated!

My dog ROSITA, middle sized mutter, 7 years old, blue with green collar and blue heart-shaped name tag, is missing since Tuesday afternoon, the 9th of May.
She got startled and run off in the campo of EL MORCHE, near Torrox, close to bar La Quintana, to the right.

Can anyone offer advice or the name of an electrician who can help please. Our ceiling fan only bought just over a year ago is only worked from a remote control handset which no longer functions.  The sensor beeps when the wall switch is turned so the unit is live.

Torrox are providing free Spanish lessons in the school behind Lew’s bar in Avenida El Faro, Torrox Costa.

In order to ascertain how many classes and options of beginners, intermediate and advanced, the ayuntamiento need you to enroll before the end of this term (middle of June).

Classes could be morning or afternoon depending on numbers. The aim is to have one hour lessons three times a week if possible.

Ronda Romantica Feria Saturday 27^th May

During the three day festivities, locals and visitors are taken on a voyage of discovery to 19^th century Spain, a time of bandits, muleteers and romantic travellers.

Hundreds of locals from Ronda and the surrounding towns and villages participate in this unique recreation of 19^th century life in this stunning part of Andalucia. Dressed in typical clothes and garments of the time, these colourful characters take part in a historical street parade and representations of different historic events. The sound and smell of gunpowder, artisans markets and equestrian exhibitions are just some of experiences enjoyed by visitors during the celebrations.

 

Another of the unquestionable stars of the event are the horses which are also dressed in stunning attire, typical of the 19^th century, and their elegant riders also wearing their traditional garments.

Price?  €20pp Depart at 11.30 and return from Ronda at 22.30

Trip to Gibraltar – Friday 9^th June

The Phoenix Club are off on their next shopping trip to Gibraltar on Friday the 9^th June and we have a few seats still available.  We have pick ups at at the A1 Garden Centre, Torre del Mar bus station and finally at Algarrobo Lidl at 08.30.  The bus is parked in Morrisons car park and we leave Gibraltar at 16.30.  Due to visa restrictions on entering Gibraltar, please advise if you are a non EU citizen when you book.  Also it is important to remember to bring with you your EHIC card, just in case, and passports are essential.  On the way to Gibraltar we stop to spend a penny and for coffee.

We would greatly appreciate if payment was made before the journey.

The price?  €12pp includes a €1 gratuity for the driver.  Children under 12 can join us for 1/2 price.   Still the best value on the coast!
Early booking is recommended if you like a particular place, as seat numbers are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Plenty to see in Gibraltar apart from the shopping!

Trip to El Chorro by train – Friday 23^rd June

Come and join us on a train trip to El Chorro where we stop for coffee and to admire the majestic El Chorro gorge and walkway.  Then onto to the fabulous Ardales lakes by coach where we have lunch.

Price? €24pp includes train and coach fare and drivers gratuity but lunch at the lakes is an extra. Menu del Dia extremely good value.
