The province’s most popular beaches can only be half-filled this summer: The government this week confirmed that on beaches where a significant influx of bathers is expected “social distancing should be ensured at all times”, with a separation of two metres between people from different families and four metres between umbrellas. These distances would need to be greater in areas that are very windy. More details: http://www.surinenglish.com/local/202005/29/province-most-popular-beaches-20200529122930-v.html

Spain puts EU bailout funds of €140 Billion at risk, approves guaranteed minimum income scheme costing €3 Billion for vulnerable families: Will EU regulators approve a huge bailout for a country that already has enough funds to distribute billions in cash to it’s citizens? Spain to open swimming pools and shopping malls from Monday June 1st: Spain on Thursday said it will further relax confinement measures from next week, allowing 70 percent of the population to go to restaurants, swimming pools and shopping centres. From Monday, new areas of the country will be allowed to open swimming pools, albeit to limited numbers of people, and beaches where people will have to maintain at least a distance of two metres.
This second phase will cover the whole of Andalusia and Valencia, a large part of Catalonia, as well as the Balearics and Canary islands, the health ministry said. About 70 percent of Spain’s population will be affected by this new phase, which will also see the reopening of cinema halls, theatres and auditoriums but at a third of capacity.
Shopping centres will also be allowed to reopen but at reduced capacity and indoor dining at restaurants will also be permitted. Full article: https://www.thelocal.es/20200529/spain-to-open-swimming-pools-and-shopping-malls-from-monday-june-1st

Do You Have A Website?: Want to see what your exposure in the Dark Web is without learning how to access the Dark Web yourself? Suspect you’ve been hacked? Here is a free new tool to test this as well as many other security aspects of your website. See if someone is selling your info or passwords. See if anyone has cybersquatted your domain name. Find mentions of your website on the hidden, uncensored dark-forums where the evil blackhat hackers lurk. This powerful tool is new, and if history is any indication, they are likely to remove the free version as soon as they build a userbase in a few months. Give it a try while it’s still free. https://www.immuniweb.com/radar/

Trump Defends Free Speech With Executive Order, Follows Thru On Threat To Twitter, Fakebook, and Social Media Abusive Practices: {Editorial Preface: As soon as social media becomes selective about what they post they become editors, and thus their platform is as a publisher. They have left the special protection from responsibility for content given to communication service providers like internet providers, phone companies and mail services, which social media are currently attempting to hide behind. The arguement that social media are private companies that may post or not post whatever they want is false. The phone company cannot censor phonecall content nor is it responsible for the content of conversations; a mail service does not redact words in a manuscript it delivers nor is it responsible for any content of the document no matter how evil. Internet providers for the most part only censor content China, Iran & N. Korea; there’s no shortage of objectionable material on the Internet if you go looking for it, but the company who provides your internet connection is not responsible if you do so. That is why they get special protection, they simply transmit data without interference. Social media censors content all day long, so they don’t have a claim to that special “communications provider” protection.}
“As President, I have made clear my commitment to free and open debate on the Internet. Such debate is just as important online as it is in our universities, our businesses, our newspapers, and our homes,” the draft reads. “In a country that has long cherished the freedom of expression, we cannot allow a limited number of online platforms to hand-pick the speech that Americans may access and convey online.”
Trump’s executive order seeks to empower federal regulators to amend a statute that gives social-media companies broad authority to moderate speech on their platforms.
Trump’s order calls for tech companies to lose their Section 230 protection if they do anything to discriminate against users, restrict their access to a platform without giving them a fair hearing, or take other action that isn’t in line with the terms of service.
Additionally, the draft order directs the Federal Trade Commission to take action to prohibit “deceptive or unfair practices” and allow people to complain if they think the companies are acting in a way that goes against their own rules and practices.
Trump tweeted, “{He} wouldn’t allow Twitter to stifle free speech. We will strongly regulate, or close them down before we can ever allow this to happen,” he tweeted Wednesday morning.

Windows 10 User Tip by DoctorLaptop: If you use Windows 10, and get a WELCOME TO WINDOWS screen at startup offering to set up various services, I recommend you do NOT accept this. Use the button in the lower left of the screen to SKIP FOR NOW.
If you accept this you are allowing the following
-Windows will force you to use a Outlook.com or hotmail.com email address and password to log in. If you don’t have one of these you will be directed to creating one. Your old login password or PIN may no longer work.
-Windows will start up to 32 background apps every time you turn on the device, slowing performance significantly.
-Microsoft will scan and save all your data, including all your emails from all email servers, all documents you create using Microsoft tools like Word and Excel, everything you save in the cloud and all communications apps text and voice data. You have literally given them permission to capture every keystroke you make! (More on this below)
-Microsoft will log and save your location history every time you startup. No, your VPN will not prevent this. Your computer knows where it is, it saves that info the instant you connect to your internet provider’s connection, before your VPN even has a chance to connect. Then once you get online thru your VPN, your computer sends your true location to MS.
However, if you are a dedicated MS product user, with Gmail, Office 365, Google Cloud, Skype, etc., and you also want to share data between all your devices, then go ahead and do the MS registered login process.
Note: Microsoft has now admitted they are scanning and censoring all communications coming from Windows 10 computers. “Microsoft will ban ‘offensive language’ and ‘inappropriate content’ from Skype, Xbox, Office and other services on May 1, claiming it has the right to go through your private data to ‘investigate.” See article in News Section today regarding this. The CDC Has Slashed the COVID-19 Fatality Rate to a Fraction of Earlier Estimate Used to Justify Lockdowns!: In March, the World Health Organization (WHO) was claiming that the fatality rate was a very high 3.4 percent. That has been revised by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to 0.4 percent of those who do show symptoms will die from the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Or, as the Washington Post reported this week- The CDC offered a “current best estimate” of 0.4 percent. The agency also gave a best estimate that 35 percent of people infected never develop symptoms. Those numbers when put together would produce an infection fatality rate of 0.26, which is (more than ten times) lower than many of the estimates produced by scientists and modelers to date.”

The End of Privacy for Windows 10 Users: Microsoft started to ban ‘offensive language’ and ‘inappropriate content’ from Skype, Xbox, Office (MS Word) and other services on May 1, claiming it has the right to go through your private data to ‘investigate.’
If you have even the slightest expectation of privacy while on the internet, Microsoft has just taken that away. They have now been forced to admit they collect, scan and filter everything (yes, everything!) you do. If they don’t like some content on the computer, or in Skype/Email/WhatsApp/Office or in your cloud accounts, they have the right to delete it without warning you and then permanently close all your Microsoft / Google related accounts- Gmail, YouTube,  Office 365,  Skype, WhatsApp, etc. A total digital wipeout. Any credit balances for paid MS services will be forfeited.  This is already happening!
Better watch out if you are playing Xbox, get ticked, and cuss. Microsoft might ban you for the “offensive language.” If they do, then say bye-bye to your Xbox Gold Membership and any Microsoft account balances. Or if you and a significant other are getting hot and heavy via Skype, you better watch your language and any nudity because that, too, can get you banned. You need to self-censor when sensitive topics like criticism of China’s policy in Hong Kong, or questioning vaccine safety are communicated or you risk being deleted. The ban hammer could also fall if digital search assistant Cortana is listening at the wrong moment (a problem for people like me that regularly curse at computers they are using) or if documents and files hosted on Microsoft services violate Microsoft’s amended terms. The changes are part of the new Microsoft Terms of Services agreement that went into effect on May 1 and cover a plethora of Microsoft services.
All Windows 10 users should read the short article here. Naturally you won’t find much info about this on the Google controlled searches: https://www.csoonline.com/article/3264658/microsoft-to-ban-offensive-language-from-skype-xbox-office-and-other-services.html

Bad Day For Tech Giants:
-SHUT ’EM DOWN! Trump threatens to ‘CLOSE DOWN’ social media platforms that ‘silence conservatives’ as feud with Twitter ramps up. Trump tweets: Twitter has now shown that everything we have been saying about them (and their other compatriots) is correct. Big action to follow! See: https://www.the-sun.com/news/891225/trump-threaten-close-down-social-media-twitter/
Google faces another new antitrust case for payment apps manipulation in India: This is Google’s third major antitrust challenge in India. In 2018, the CCI fined Google $21 million for “search bias”, but a company appeal against that is pending. The CCI last year also started probing Google for allegedly misusing its dominant position to reduce the ability of smartphone manufacturers to opt for alternate versions of its Android mobile operating system. -Wikipedia co-founder: Site’s neutrality is ‘dead’ thanks to leftist bias. “Wikipedia Is Badly Biased” is a blog article by Larry Sanger, the co-founder of Wikipedia, published this month declaring that the online encyclopedia’s “neutral point of view” policy is “dead” due to the rampant left-wing bias of the site. Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Are you having soil erosion issues after all the recent rain? Vetiver is the perfect solution with the 3 – 4 metre root system.
The plant is non invasive, grows rapidly and once established it needs very little water.
We are finally open again for business. We are still not permitted to have visitors at our nursery but we can ship plants via post or we can deliver locally.
Our first day of shipping was Monday and we shipped 2,000 plants to various locations in Spain, Portugal, and Hungary.
We have plenty of Vetiver in stock. Right now the soil is nice and damp and the weather is starting to heat up so it is the perfect time to plant.
We also have Lemon Grass, Moringa Seedlings and Organic Moringa Powder.
Moringa, also known as the “Miracle Tree”, has many nutritional and health benefits. If you have ever been to a Thai Restaurant you have probably had Lemon Grass.
Lemon Grass grows easily and quickly. Take a look at our website or go directly to the two links below. If you have any questions please contact us either by email or phone.

India yogi Prahlad Jani who claimed to live without food or water dies aged 90: Jani’s tale that he was blessed by a goddess when he was a child which enabled him to survive without sustenance won him a small group of followers — despite the doubts of medical professionals.
In 2010 a team of military doctors studied him for two weeks at a hospital in Ahmedabad, Gujarat’s biggest city. Jani was watched with cameras and closed circuit television. Doctors took scans of his organs, brain and blood vessels, and conducted tests on his heart, lungs and memory capacity. They said he did not eat, drink or go to the toilet, and his only contact with fluid was during gargling and bathing periodically. “We still do not know how he survives,” neurologist Sudhir Shah told reporters then. “It is still a mystery what kind of phenomenon this is.”
“He died early Tuesday morning at his residence due to old age,” Sheetal Chaudhary, who lived next door to Jani, told AFP. PHOTO:Sam PANTHAKY AFP/File

Phase One of the lockdown easing allows museums and galleries to reopen as long as capacity is limited to 30 per cent, cultural activities are called off and crowding is avoided in rooms. Given that they cannot organise cultural activities at the moment, several of the museums and galleries are planning one or more open days with free entry as an incentive to attract visitors. What will Brits in Spain need to get ‘settled status’?: Here’s what we know so far. Spain’s existing identity card for foreigners, known as the ‘tarjeta de identidad de extranjero’ (TIE) will replace the current documentation for British residents. The TIE proves legal status and is issued to foreigners authorised to stay in Spain for longer than six months. Those Brits registering for the first time will be issued with a TIE; those holding existing residency documents will be able to swap these for the TIE.
As Brits in Spain, in effect, don’t need to reapply for their legal status, there are no specific registration deadlines. Our existing green residency certificates/cards will remain valid, even after the transition period, as confirmed by the British Ambassador to Spain, Hugh Elliott. Full story:

There really is a ‘thinness gene’ but unfortunately only 1% of us have it- why some people are able to eat whatever they want and not put on weight: Scientists studied thousands of people’s genetic profiles and found that around one percent were missing the so-called ‘ALK’ gene.
These people were found to be naturally thin compared to other healthy adults, suggesting that there may be a link between this gene and their weight.
They then tested this theory on mice and flies, and found that ‘turning off’ the ALK gene allowed them to remain slim even after being fed a sugar and fat-rich diet.
Lead author, Josef Penninger, from the University of British Columbia, said shutting down the gene could one day form the basis of an obesity treatment in humans. Full story: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sciencetech/article-8344153/One-cent-population-thinness-gene-eat-want.html

National Mourning in Spain: What Does it Mean?: Spain has declared that once all territories are in Phase 1 the nation will have an official 10-day mourning period, the most prolonged length in the history of its democracy. One of the most significative changes will be all the half-mast flags in public buildings and ships. In interior spaces it is common to see the flag appear with a black crepe. Disaster relief exposes EU lack of consensus: Frugal four offer alternative Covid-19 ‘Recovery Plan’ to rival Franco-German deal to help hardest hit countries like Italy & Spain. (Looks like Frugal Four are not too keen on paying for other country’s  guaranteed minimum income schemes. -Ed.)
Sweden, Denmark, Netherlands and Austria, dubbed the ‘frugal four,’ have presented an alternative Covid-19 ‘Recovery Plan’ to rival the Franco-German deal put forward last week, to help the hardest hit countries by the pandemic, such as Italy and Spain.
This alternative proposal rivals the one put forward earlier this week French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Angela Merkel who proposed a €500 billion fund, as reported. But the ‘frugal four’ rejected it, insisting there must be no “mutualisation of debt.” They also reject “any significant increases to the EU’s budget,” as suggested by the Franco-German plan to fund the recovery programme. Full story: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/05/24/frugal-four-offer-alternative-covid-19-recovery-plan-to-rival-franco-german-deal-to-help-hardest-hit-countries-like-italy-spain/

Braseria Iberica, Hotel Los Arcos, Nerja: This has always been one of our favourite restaurants, and we were excited to see that is was open again on Saturday evening.
The COVID – 19 precautions in place were impressive and reassuring. Our temperatures were taken before we were allowed to enter the al fresco dining area. Our steaks were superbly cooked and presented, and our waitress was efficient, attentive and friendly.
Hope you are well, and thank you for Digame. It’s always the first thing I read in the mornings.

Coronavirus- Protests and political tension grip lockdown Spain: Nightly pot-banging protests and rising political tensions piled pressure on Spain’s minority government as it sought to lead the nation cautiously out of lockdown and tackle the economic chaos triggered by the pandemic. Unlike many other European countries, the government has come in for a barrage of criticism over its handling of the coronavirus crisis, only managing to secure its latest extension of the lockdown on Wednesday by just 15 parliamentary votes.
And the debate ahead of the vote was hostile and acrimonious, with opposition leader Pablo Casado, who heads the rightwing People’s Party (PP), not mincing his words.
“You are the epitome of chaos and the worst thing is that you are unable to protect the Spanish people without resorting to this brutal confinement,” he said, addressing his words to Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez. Higher Taxes Coming? Spain announces €3-billion universal basic income scheme: It will cost around €3 billion per year, will help four out of five people in severe poverty and benefit close to 850,000 households, half of which include children. Sanchez said the Spanish government had a responsibility to help out those who had been hit hard by the crisis with this proposed plan.  Source: https://www.thelocal.es/20200523/coronavirus-spain-announces-3-billion-universal-basic-income-scheme

Spain likely to raise taxes in wake of coronavirus crisis, say experts: Finance Minister María Jesús Montero has stated that there will not be “massive spending cuts or massive tax hikes.” The government, however, plans to approve the so-called “Google tax” on digital services, and another levy on financial transactions, by the end of the year (at least they got this one right. -Ed.). But together these would only raise an estimated €1.8 billion, not even two tenths of a point of the deficit. The anti-austerity party has also proposed a wealth tax that would affect people with assets worth over €1 million, but this does not appear to have much backing. Spain loosens restrictions in towns with fewer than 10,000 residents: The new order, published on Friday in the Official State Gazette, will see bars and restaurants open regardless what phase the province is in, and eliminates the need to keep to a strict timetable on hours allowed outside the home depending on age, and loosens restrictions on walks. Spanish PM Sends Mixed Signals, 6th Extension Possible: Speaking to regional premiers on Sunday, Pedro Sánchez said that the exceptional measures would begin to be lifted in the coming days “if nothing goes wrong”. But then states “We are studying a sixth extension because it is our duty,” he said on Saturday. “We will have to look at the epidemiological progression, but we will do so listening to the experts and the regions.”
Opposition parties such as the conservative Popular Party (PP) and far-right Vox have been calling for an end to the exceptional measures since early May, and have either abstained or voted against further extensions, arguing that there are measures under existing laws that could be used during the deescalation process. Legal experts, meanwhile, have claimed that there is no way of confining citizens to their homes without the state of alarm. Still No Checks?: Thousands of workers in Spain are still waiting to receive unemployment assistance after being placed on a temporary layoff scheme known as ERTE. Labor Minister Yolanda Díaz announced last Friday that the national agency SEPE, which handles jobless claims, had recognized and paid 3.3 million beneficiaries within 33 days.
But the government’s claims have been contradicted by organizations such as the General Council of Administrative Gestores of Spain, an association of professionals who help the public with the paperwork involved in administrative processes such as taxes or property registration.
According to a survey published by this group on Wednesday, more than 900,000 workers placed on the ERTE scheme had still not received their unemployment assistance by mid-May. Meanwhile, the Madrid Hospitality Association says that 40% of workers in the sector have not yet received any payments. Just 30% Costa del Sol restaurants open doors to public with rest planning to open in June alongside gastronomic events: To boost business and celebrate the end of the lockdown, various restaurants are clubbing together to organise gastronomic and cuisine festivals. One group of restaurants on the Costa del Sol, along with Cadiz and Granada, have organised a Return of Cuisine festival to encourage people to taste different menus at participating restaurants.
Other restaurants are taking part in another celebratory cuisine festival, focusing on “honest and sincere” menus, which are committed to natural and healthy cooking. Menu prices will range from “€35-40 for a normal gastronomic experience to between €55 and 60 for a gourmet meal,” added Asenjo. Spanish Police in Marbella purchase 15 High-Tech Laser Pistols to “Control the Coronavirus”: Star Wars is coming to a beach near you.
The local government has confirmed that its officers will be more protected against possible infections from the coronavirus by using the new weapons.
The City Council will spend about 44,000 euros on its purchases of 15 Laser Pistols in a move that has “stunned” members of the opposing political parties.
According to a decree signed by the councilor for Finance, Félix Romero, the technical means available to local agents at the moment are insufficient to face the COVID-19 health emergency.
The Professional Association of Social Work of Malaga said it disapproves the use of this type of stun gun “with the sole purpose of neutralizing people who, due to their situation of living on the street or fragile circumstances, are seriously unprotected.”
The group warns of the “serious consequences of these weapons on people with weakened physical and mental states, since “they can cause serious injuries or irreparable damage to health.” Photo credit and source article: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/05/24/spanish-police-in-marbella-purchase-15-high-tech-laser-pistols-to-control-the-coronavirus/

Costa del Sol’s Malaga and Granada Held Back in Phase 1 Whilst the Rest of Andalucia Set to Enter Phase 2 of the De-Escalation Plan on Monday: The Ministry of Health has not authorised Costa del Sol’s Malaga or Granada to move onto Phase 2 of the de-escalation plan, as was hoped by the Junta de Andalucia, instead they must remain in Phase 1 for an additional week.
Cadiz, Huelva, Almeria, Jaen, Sevilla and Cordoba will all move onto Phase 2 of the de-escalation plan this next Monday, May 25.
The Junta de Andalucia did propose for all Andalucian provinces to enter at the same time, however, the central government has rejected this notion and maintained that the two provinces must remain in Phase 1 for another week. Spanish PM, using back-room deals with nationalist opposition, manages enough support in Congress for fifth extension to state of alarm, with a slim 15 vote margin: The exceptional measures will now stay in place until June 7, with one last period expected to be voted on to cover the final weeks of the coronavirus deescalation phases. The extension received 177 votes in favor in the 350-seat Congress, but saw more votes in opposition than ever: 162. Voting NO were the main opposition Popular Party (PP), far-right Vox, the Catalan Republican Left (ERC), Together for Catalonia, Compromis, Foro Asturias and CUP. There were 11 abstensions. Sent home over Covid-19, laid-off workers still waiting for their checks in Spain: Delays in processing ERTE claims have left thousands of families in a precarious financial situation. Nearly half a million companies filed for ERTEs in response to the coronavirus lockdown, which forced the temporary closure of businesses across the country. While this measure brought relief to some workers, thousands more are still waiting for their unemployment benefits, spurring anger and resentment and questions of how payment priority is established. Protests grow in parliament and on the street over government’s pandemic handling: The state of alarm has been extended for another fortnight but more opposition parties have withdrawn their support for it. PM Pedro Sánchez failed to get majority support to extend the state of alarm for at least a further month this week. Negotiations with other parties ahead of Wednesday’s debate in Congreso didn’t secure him enough MPs’ votes. In the end, it was another two-week extension, until 7 June, that was presented to parliament for approval instead. Meanwhile, street protests have grown over the Socialist PSOE and Unidas Podemos coalition’s handling of the crisis, amid fears over the economic outlook.
Over the last week, the nightly action has spread from Madrid to street corners in other parts of the country, starting at 8pm, until now the time to applaud healthcare workers.
Protesting local residents have also gathered outside the Socialist party head office and the homes of some government members.
Residents took to the streets in Malaga and Marbella, among other places, on Thursday.

Swimming in community pools seems unfeasible: Property managers warn that owners lack the means to control that security measures are followed. Most communities of owners will not be able to comply with the conditions imposed by the state government for the use of swimming pools. The General Council of Colleges of Property Administrators of Spain (Cgcafe) has submitted a letter to the Ministry of Health after the publication last Saturday of the entry order to phase 2 of the de-escalation plan for the first territories that accessed them – La Gomera, El Hierro, La Graciosa and Fomentera. The administrators consider that this order does not solve the pending questions that it has been exposing in different communications to the President of the Government and to those responsible for the competent ministries. Can you GET MARRIED IN HEAVEN?
On their way to the church to get married, a young Catholic couple were involved in a fatal car accident.
Being good Catholics the young couple find themselves sitting outside the Pearly Gates waiting for St. Peter to process them into Heaven.
While waiting, they begin to wonder: could they possibly get married in Heaven?
When St. Peter finally showed up, they asked him.
St Peter said “I don’t know. This is the first time anyone has asked. Let me go find out” and he leaves them sitting at the Gate.
After three months, St Peter finally returns, looking somewhat bedraggled. “Yes” he informs the couple ” I can get you married in Heaven”.
“Great!” said the couple “But we were just wondering, what if things don’t work out? Could we also get a divorce in Heaven?”
“You must be bloody joking” says St. Peter, red-faced with frustration, slamming his clipboard on the ground.
“What’s wrong?” asked the frightened couple.
“OH, COME ON!” St. Peter shouted “It took me three months to find a priest up here….Do you have any idea how long it’ll take me to find a lawyer?”

Doubling of Covid-19 cases on Spain’s Costa del Sol casts serious doubts on Malaga entering Phase 2 of de-escalation on May 25: Given that Malaga’s authorities and citizens are anxious to access Phase 2 with the rest of the region, these figures won’t help its case. The health authorities are therefore, once again, insisting that the public maintains social distances and hygiene recommendations. Spain’s Valencia region puts brakes on lockdown easing after slight rise in infections: While Madrid and Catalonia request that their lockdown is eased, the region housing Valencia and Alicante has decided it shouldn’t enter Phase 2 of Spain’s “de-escalation” plan after infections rose slightly in the past week. Spain’s Gov’t Deal With Basque Nationalist Group EH Bildu In Order To Get 15 Day Extension Passed Causes Uproar: The return of old labor laws that make it difficult to fire employees at center of controversy. Confusion reigns in Spain over deal with Basque party to repeal labor reform. The agreement between the government and EH Bildu, which was announced late last night to the surprise of other groups, was subject to a late-night “rectification” by the Socialist Party. As a result, Employers Association breaks off talks with government over deal with the Basque radical party while political parties excluded from these negotiations demand answers.
After the exceptional measures (to extend the lockdown again) were approved by the lower house of parliament, news emerged of an agreement between the coalition government – led by the Socialist Party (PSOE) and junior partner Unidas Podemos – and the Basque nationalist group EH Bildu to repeal a 2012 labor reform. The pro-independence party, it emerged, had secured the deal with the government in exchange for abstaining at Wednesday’s key vote to push the end of the state of alarm to June 7.
The text of the agreement began with a commitment by the government to overturn the 2012 legislation, which was passed by the main opposition Popular Party (PP) while it was in power, and which, among other things, gave companies in Spain more flexibility to sack employees. The Wednesday agreement specified that the government should repeal the law before the end of the “extraordinary measures” that are in place to combat the coronavirus crisis – i.e. the state of alarm.
But given the controversy that the deal caused among the political opposition, hours later, at around midnight, the PSOE released an “explanatory note” in which it rectified what had been agreed in the first point of the deal. Instead of the complete repeal of the 2012 legislation, the PSOE and its junior partner agreed on a vague commitment to recover “the labor rights taken away by the 2012 labor reform.” The pledge is included in the governing pact reached by Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and Unidas Podemos chief Pablo Iglesias in December, ahead of the creation of their coalition government.
The confusion deepened on Thursday morning, when Deputy Prime Minister Pablo Iglesias insisted during an interview with Catalunya Ràdio that the agreement “does not speak about a partial repeal, it talks about the repeal of the labor reform. The parties can say what they want. What was signed was what was agreed. The deal between the three parties is to completely overturn the reform.” References:

WATCH- Thousands turn up in Malaga’s Calle Larios with pots and pans to protest against the Spanish coalition Government’s handling of the coronavirus pandemic: The protests initially started in Madrid at the beginning of the week, but have since spread throughout the country. As well as protests in Costa del Sol’s Malaga and Marbella, marches were held across the country today, from Barcelona to Cordoba, spurred on by right wing party Vox encouraging the public to take to the streets “to get Sanchez out”. Protests are expected to continue this week. New York transit agency launches UV light pilot program in effort to kill Covid-19: The Metropolitan Transportation Authority said Tuesday night that it will use “150 dual-headed mobile devices” from Denver-based start-up PURO Lighting to determine the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of the UVC light technology, the agency said in a press release.
UVC, which is one of three types of light on the UV spectrum, is proven to eliminate Covid-19 and is most potent against viruses and bacteria, PURO Lighting said. PURO noted that their lamps also have UVA and UVB as well for full spectrum disinfection. The MTA touts that UVC light is “an efficient, proven, and effective technology for eliminating viruses, including SARS-CoV-2 that causes COVID-19” and has been demonstrated to kill viruses in hospital operating rooms, urgent care clinics, universities, and fire stations. Your bubble is ready- plastic pods offer solution for COVID dining: For restaurant owners worrying how they can welcome back customers but keep them safe from COVID-19, a French designer has created a cylinder of transparent plastic that hangs from a cable on the ceiling, much like a lampshade. A scoop cut out of the back allows diner to sit and stand up without having to bend over double. Christophe Gernigon, who invented the device, called the Plex’Eat, said the designs already on the market looked like booths in prison visiting rooms, so were not inviting for customers. Beijing moves to impose new national security law on Hong Kong after anti-China unrest: Pro-democracy demonstrators have for years strongly opposed the idea of national security laws, arguing they could erode the city’s high degree of autonomy, guaranteed under the “one country, two systems” formula put in place when it returned to Chinese rule.

We may have spotted a parallel universe going backwards in time: Strange particles observed by an experiment in Antarctica could be evidence of an alternative reality where everything is upside down. That strange finding was made in 2016. Since then, all sorts of suggestions rooted in known physics have been put forward to account for the perplexing signal, and all have been ruled out. What’s left is shocking in its implications. Explaining this signal requires the existence of a topsy-turvy universe created in the same big bang as our own and existing in parallel with it. In this mirror world, positive is negative, left is right and time runs backwards. It is perhaps the most mind-melting idea ever to have emerged from the Antarctic ice – but it might just be true. Your face mask selfies could be training the next facial recognition tool: Researchers are crawling the internet for photos of people wearing face masks to improve facial recognition algorithms. Face masks cover up a significant portion of what facial recognition needs to identify and detect people — essentially threatening the future of a multimillion-dollar industry unless the technology can learn to recognize people beyond the coverings.
Facial recognition companies have long used people’s pictures without consent to train their algorithms. Civil liberty advocates contend that facial recognition technology threatens privacy and free speech, warning as well that there are almost no laws preventing abuse of the surveillance tools. Masks have long been a method for avoiding facial recognition. Protesters in Hong Kong relied on them to beat the government’s facial recognition to avoid harsh retaliation, prompting a mask ban there.
