Bands & Acts: Please submit your gig promos.  Your music is your business, you need to get as much exposure as possible, don’t rely on venues to promote you! Most of those FB posts by venues only have a few likes, if any at all, so obviously are not reaching many people. DigameXtra sends out over 4175 email issues everyday to subscribers, and the website gets another 800 visits per day. That is way better exposure than you are getting in any FB posts!!! Entertainers get to post their shows for free as long as they are subscribed to this newsletter. What are you waiting for?

Pre-planning your funeral is a thoughtful and responsible way to show you care about your family.
Funerals are no easy task. There are numerous considerations to factor in, including logistics, food and drink, casket purchase and burial grounds. A loved one’s death brings immense emotional strain to any family, and the question of financing and arrangements only exacerbates the stress.

Golden Leaves Funeral Plans aims to support grieving families during these tumultuous times. Since our inception in 1984, we have partnered with a widespread network of funeral directors across the UK and Europe.
Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.

Halting Erosion using Vetiver
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment depending on the current travel restrictions. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link.

Recommendations & Requests

Travel through France in March: Has anyone recently crossed the border into France, and can give advice to what is required? I need to go back to the UK in a motor home before the end of March, using the Channel tunnel at Calais. I believe it is essential to obtain a negative PCR test to cross the border from Spain. If so, has anyone obtained a test with quick results around Velez Malaga, as it will take me at least 2 days to reach France from here, and as the test needs to be within 3 days of the border, I do not have time to wait for the result? Alternatively, has anyone obtained a test nearer the French Border without having to wait days for the result? I really need to leave here around the 13th March. Any answers please to martin.hux@msn.com
Thank you. Martin, Velez Malaga

Andalucia Covid Update- Andalusia has only 355 coronavirus infections, the lowest number since August last year: {Translated in full from sevilla.abc.es} Updated 02/03/2021, 19:09
-Andalusia has added 355 new cases of coronavirus infection on Tuesday. This is such a low figure that we have to go back to August last year to see a similar number. It was on 12 August last year when the region had 306 cases, seven months ago. To put into perspective the low number of positives in Covid-19 on Tuesday, it is enough to remember that four weeks ago the number of infections exceeded 7,000 per day.
-The third wave has now reached low levels, bringing the incidence rate of the pandemic to 163.1 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, down from more than 900 at the beginning of February. The reduction has been almost as explosive as the escalation of this curve that originated with the relaxation of restrictions for Christmas but which came from high baseline figures because the second wave never reached figures as low as the first when it rebounded.
-Although the trend is clear and Andalusia is reducing cases, Tuesday’s figures should be taken with caution. After a long weekend, the community tends to underreport cases. We will have to wait for the rest of the week to take the temperature of the extent to which the number of cases in the region has fallen over the last few days.
-As things stand, and with no changes in restrictions and measures for now, the outlook remains good. Thus, the cumulative incidence of the pandemic is already at 60.6 points. This figure is merely indicative because the data at seven days is not a guide as it is at 14 days, the maximum incubation period of the coronavirus. However, this figure indicates a clear trend: the number of cases continues to fall and the incidence of the pandemic may still fall below 100 points in the near future.
-In any case, the number of daily infections is already close to zero in some provinces. On Tuesday, 90 cases were reported in Almeria, 71 in Malaga, 57 in Cadiz, 50 in Seville, 47 in Granada, 32 in Cordoba, 6 in Jaen and only 2 in Huelva.
-The number of deaths, meanwhile, is 24 on Tuesday. Although this is double the number for Monday, we must again take into account the bridge effect. These are the best figures in weeks for a Tuesday. Seven days ago, it should be remembered, there were 100 deaths; the previous week, 113. In any case, and even with this modulating effect, the figure maintains the trend that began weeks ago of a decrease in deaths due to the pandemic which, since the beginning of the crisis, has already caused 8,470 deaths.
-Meanwhile, the pressure in hospitals continues to drop another day. On Tuesday, 1,715 people were admitted to hospital for coronavirus, two fewer than yesterday. The decrease does not seem very pronounced but it should be borne in mind that, after a weekend, the data tends to rise, something that has not happened. So far Andalusia has reduced the number of hospitalised patients by 65 percent since the peak of the third wave, which was 4,980 Covid-19 patients at the beginning of February. In addition, in the ICU there has also been a drop in the number of hospitalised patients. There are 415 this Tuesday, 17 less than yesterday. Will Spain be able to vaccinate 70% of the adult population by the end of summer?: Spain has administered two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine to 2.6% of the population. Although the pace of the vaccination drive picked up in the last week of February, the rollout has been more or less steady over the month: every day, 0.17% of the population are injected with one dose, which equates to around 500,000 people per week. At this rate, the European Union’s target of vaccinating 70% of the adult population before the summer – amounting to 58% of Spain’s total population – will not be met. As the graph below shows, if the current speed is maintained, barely 20% of the total population will have received two doses by September. Image: El Pais. Spain’s Ministry of Health recommends taking paracetamol if receiving the AstraZeneca jab: The British vaccine, that is only being used in Spain for the vaccination of under 55s, is reportedly causing many more side effects than those of the Pfizer or Moderna laboratories.
In the latest update of the coronavirus vaccination plan in Spain, experts have changed the protocol to introduce the use of 1 gram doses of paracetamol every 6 hours after verifying that there have been numerous cases in which people, during the 24 hours after the jab, suffered side effects similar to those of an intense but brief flu. (Yikes! 4 grams in 24 hours sounds like a rather heavy dose to me. -Ed.)

BEWARE POSSIBLE FAKE NEWS- This is important if true, but I have not been able to verify it on any Official Gov’t news source; it’s only on 2 small news websites. -Ed.
Expats With Private Health Insurance WON’T Be Vaccinated in Spain: The Andalucían Health Service (SAS) has indicated that any foreigners who aren’t registered on the public health system here in Spain will either have to travel to their home countries to get the Covid jab or ‘regularise their situation’ in Spain – in other words, apply for legal residency and thus become part of the Spanish public health system.
The SAS has confirmed that only foreigners who are ‘beneficiaries of the Spanish public health system’ will be included in the vaccination plan. Since the rollout is ‘managed by the public health system’ those with ‘private insurance will not be vaccinated’. Czechs send 30,000 police, soldiers to enforce travel limits:
Police and military forces in the Czech Republic set up 500 checkpoints across the country as one of the European Union’s hardest-hit nations marked the first anniversary of its coronavirus outbreak on Monday by significantly limiting free movement.
As of Monday, people in the Czech Republic who go out for exercise should not leave their municipality. Nursery schools and schools for children with disabilities were also closed while only stores selling essential goods remain open. The government also approved a plan to require mandatory mass testing of employees. It will start in the companies with more than 250 workers on Wednesday followed by those with at least 50 employees on Friday. New EU ‘right to repair’ laws require appliance technology to last for a decade: White or electrical goods such as fridges and televisions in the European Union must be able to be repaired for up to a decade under new rules that came into force on Monday. The “right to repair” is aimed at reducing the large amounts of electrical waste on the Continent. It is part of a broader push from Brussels to make goods more energy efficient, longer lasting and easier to recycle.
Manufacturers will have to ensure replacement parts are available for up to ten years but some will only be provided to professional repair companies.
New devices have to be sold with a repair manual and be made so that they are easy to recycle and can be dismantled with conventional tools.
In a next step, environmentalists and consumer rights groups want the “right to repair” expanded to include smartphones, laptops and other small electrical devices.

Coronavirus Andalusia: February, the deadliest month with 2,036 deaths: {Translated from sevilla.abc.es}
-Andalusia closed this Sunday the month of February with 2,036 people dead from the Covid-19 coronavirus, 549 more than in November, the deadliest month so far, when 1,487 people lost their lives from this cause.
-Friday 12 February, with 127 deaths, was the day with the most deaths from Covid-19 in the community of the entire pandemic, followed by Tuesday 9 of the same month, when 126 people died, and Saturday 13, with 120 deaths. On the other hand, the three days in February with the fewest deaths were Monday 22, with eleven deaths; Sunday 28, with 13; and Sunday 7, with 28 deaths.
-In the first week of February, from 1 to 7 February, 537 deaths were recorded; in the second week (8 to 14 February), 688; in the third week (15 to 21 February), 465; and in the last week (22 to 28 February), 346 deaths.
-The month of November left 1,487 deaths due to Covid-19 in Andalusia, the second fortnight being more deadly than the first, 779 Andalusians died from 15 to 31 November and 708 in the first 15 days of the month.
-The three worst figures for November were always recorded on Tuesdays: on Tuesday 10th there were 95 deaths; on the 24th, 95 deaths and on the 17th there were 89 deaths. On the other hand, Sundays were when the fewest fatalities were recorded, with 12 on 1 November, 14 on 14 November and 20 on 8 November.
-Therefore, February, with 2,036 deaths, was the deadliest month, followed by November with 1,487 deaths. In January, 1,240 people lost their lives in Andalusia due to this cause, and in December, 1,117. Coronavirus Andalucía Summary- The death toll falls 66% in a single day and stands at 13, plus more encouraging news: {Translated from sevilla.abc.es} Updated: 28/02/2021, 15:12
-The latest data on coronavirus in Andalusia indicate that the third wave is beginning to lose momentum, not only because of the fall in infections, but also because of the drop in fatalities. On Saturday, 13 people died of coronavirus in Andalusia, compared to 38 on Friday, a drastic drop of 66%, according to data provided by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Health and Families.
-The deaths from Covid 19 in the last few hours have been recorded in Cordoba (5), Cadiz (5), Almeria (2) and Malaga (1), meaning that Seville, Jaen, Huelva and Granada have had no deaths from the pandemic since Friday.
-In terms of infections, in the last 24 hours there have been 940 new diagnoses by Covid, compared to 1,097 on Saturday. There are now 475,497 infected people diagnosed, while 323,281 have been cured, 2,179 more than on Saturday.
-In terms of hospitalisations, Andalusia recorded 1,742 patients admitted to health centres for coronavirus this Sunday 28 February, 150 fewer than on Saturday and 591 fewer than seven days ago, of whom 438 are in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 13 fewer than the day before, 143 fewer in a week and which places the region slightly below the peak of patients in ICU of the first wave of 30 March (439). The data show that the rate of decrease in hospitalised patients is slowing down, since, taking Sundays as a sample, on 7 February they fell by 296; on the 14th, 306; on the 21st, 244; and now on the 28th, 150.
-However, these data place the region far from the peaks recorded in the third wave on 2 February (4,980), in the second wave on 10 November (3,478) and in the first wave on 30 March 2020 (2,708). The 438 ICU patients means that Andalusia is below the peak of the third wave reached on 7 February (735), that of the second wave on 18 November (528) and slightly below the peak of ICU patients in the first wave on 30 March (439).
-In terms of vaccination, 766,690 doses have already been administered in Andalusia. A total of 309,254 people have received one dose and are awaiting the second dose to be immunised. In addition, another 228,718 have already received two doses of the vaccine. Seville, with 50,256 people, and Malaga, with 40,682, are the provinces with the most citizens who are already immunised thanks to the vaccine. Almería, with 17,708, and Huelva, with 13,867 immunised, are the provinces with the fewest people who have received both doses. Photo:ABC Sevilla.

Johnson & Johnson one-dose Covid vaccine ‘weeks away’ from starting in UK: A new Covid vaccine requiring just one dose could be just weeks away from being introduced in the UK. A Government source said the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) formal process of approving the new jab was “very likely” to start this week, according to a report in the Telegraph.
The news came as the Food and Drug Administration in the USA cleared the new one-shot vaccine for use over there.
J&J’s shot will be the only one-dose COVID vaccine available in the United States. It is also the easiest to ship and store, as it can be kept in a refrigerator rather than a freezer.
J&J expects to ship more than 20 million doses by March and 100 million by mid-year, enough to vaccinate nearly a third of Americans. Sources:

PAC- Ranchers with few rights will lose up to 40% of aid in 2021-22, according to the Board: {Summary from sevilla.abc.es}
-The Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Sustainable Development, Carmen Crespo stressed that the Andalusian Government will defend Andalusian farmers and stockbreeders “with determination” against an “unfair Common Agricultural Policy (CAP)” and emphasised that the commitment of Andalusian farming professionals to innovation and exports deserves the Government “to be at their side”.
The Regional Minister asked for “certainty” for the livestock sector, which could be seriously affected by the CAP Transition Royal Decree. According to the Junta’s estimates, holders of small sheep, goat and cattle farms with a small number of CAP entitlements could suffer a reduction of up to 40% in their aid in 2021 and 2022. Millions of Brits face vaping ban under plans to outlaw e-cigarettes: (I checked many related articles, they all refer back to this one. -Ed.)
Details of the potential ban have emerged from a report published by WHO’s tobacco regulatory committee.
It targets vapes which allow “the user to control device features and liquid ingredients”. This method, called open-vaping, is the preferred way for 77 per cent of the 3.2million Brits who use e-cigs. In an open system, the liquid to be vaporised is refilled manually by the user. There is also a removable mouthpiece.
WHO fears it allows for dangerous substances to be added so the products can become more harmful.
So it is now apparently proposing to prohibit open vaping in plans sent to governments across the globe, which will be considered at a conference in Glasgow later this year.
If adopted, the plans could mean problems for the estimated 2.4million Brits who vape and thousands of businesses which rely on the lucrative sector.
