DigameXtra Special Report – Sunday, 21 Jan, 2024 – Winter Cancelled?

Has Winter Been Cancelled? Springtime Temps Predicted Well Into February. No Significant Rain Predicted For Axarquia?

– Aemet warns of a change in the weather from Monday after the passage of squall Juan which “will affect the whole country”.
– The episode of cold recorded in recent days after the passage of the Juan squall, which has left heavy snow and heavy rain in several places, primarily the north, and at high elevations, has come to an end. According to the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet), this Sunday, the new week begins marked by a strong anticyclone and a notable rise in temperatures that “will affect the whole country” and will probably last until the first days of February.
– The Aemet forecast points to a predominance of light cloudy skies or high clouds and dry and sunny weather from Monday onwards.
– This situation of “anticyclonic blocking”, as defined by the Aemet, will also be characterised by a rise in temperatures, which will be in stark contrast to the cold experienced just a few days ago.
– In this way, the anticyclonic blockade “will prevent the entry of Atlantic squalls”, says the Aemet, so it will leave “temperatures significantly above normal, more typical of the month of March”.
– Morning fog will abound in the interior of the peninsula, while precipitation is forecast for Monday in the far north, it adds.
– Meteored (https://www.meteored.com/) predicts an “early spring” and an atypical situation with the arrival of a subtropical air mass associated with this powerful anticyclone. In practice, this translates into very high maximum temperatures for this time of year and the generalised disappearance of frosts, except in high mountain areas.
– According to Meteored, from Tuesday onwards, temperatures will exceed 20 °C in areas in the south and interior of the peninsula, the Mediterranean coast, the Balearic Islands and the Canary Islands. The forecast predicts that the warmest days of the week will be Wednesday and Thursday, when maximum temperatures of 24 to 26 °C could be reached in the Guadalquivir valley, the interior and coast of Andalusia, the Region of Murcia, the interior of the Valencian Community and parts of the Canary Islands.
