– The Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, has exonerated Morocco from responsibility for the mass entry of 80,000 people into Ceuta, pointing to an “ultra-right-wing international,” specifically Russian and Israeli agents, responsible for spreading “fake news” on social media, and has asserted that the National Intelligence Center (CNI), contrary to what Minister Margarita Robles claims, did not inform the public of “the severity of the crisis we were about to experience.”
– “We are still investigating the reasons for the mass entry, but dangerous and unfounded accusations are being made. What we do know is that a Supreme Court ruling was misrepresented, spread through social media, also by criminal organizations, and that an international far-right group, along with Russian and Israeli networks, propagated hoaxes,” the president stated in an interview with Cadena Ser, his first public statement after more than a month of silence.
– In this way, Sánchez asserts that there is “no information” from the National Intelligence Center (CNI), the State Security Forces, or “the intelligence centres with which Spain collaborates” suggesting that the mass assault of July 30 and 31 was instigated by Morocco. “What would Morocco gain from these kinds of tactics?”
– The president has argued that Ceuta and Melilla have “the most complex borders in the world” and the most economically “unequal” neighbouring territories they separate. I’ve worked in Ceuta and during the terrible fires we suffered this summer, and I’ve also rested and spent time with my family, enjoying some time with them. I believe it’s a right that we politicians obviously have as well, being aware that a Prime Minister doesn’t switch off and is on call 24/7,” he explained.
– Regarding elections: “There will be elections in 2027, and if my party wants me to, I’m ready to run with the same enthusiasm as in 2019. The progressive project is more necessary than ever to stop the reactionary wave. I know many people might think that a change in power isn’t bad, and it’s always good, but we don’t have it today, not only because of Vox, but also because it has caused the PP to drift to the right. We’re not talking about a change in power; we’re talking about regression, and I’m going to fight tooth and nail to prevent it from happening in this country,” the president argued.

59 Cases of the Nile virus in Andalusia: {Trans, summary}
– There are now 59 confirmed human cases in Andalusia during this season. They are concentrated, according to the latest update, in the provinces of Seville and Huelva.
