Almogía celebrates its Almond Day: Sunday 27 Sept
From 11am a market will open to the public with more than fifty producers from the region who will sell almonds and derived products, cheeses, wines, sausages, desserts and artisan breads. In the Plaza de la Constitución and in La Loma, tastings of fried almonds, sweet wine and ajoblanco will be offered.
In addition, the bars and restaurants of the municipality will prepare special recipes with almonds as one of their main ingredients. Thus, you can try dishes such as cuttlefish, snails, meatballs, roast or rabbit in almond sauce, ajoblanco cream, brie cheese battered in almond or almond nougat flan.

Canillas de Aceituno welcomes wild goats back at dawn: {Trans, summary}

– The FIA has confirmed that Formula 1’s Grand Prix races will become slightly shorter in 2027, with the change forming part of a wider package of sporting and technical adjustments agreed by the F1 Commission in London on Monday.
– The standard race distance is set to fall from 305km to 290km, although the measure still requires formal approval from the FIA World Motor Sport Council. At most venues, that reduction is expected to amount to roughly three laps.

NEW MALWARE ALERT– A Serious Threat: {Trans, 2 article summary}
– A powerful new malware called KREMLIN is installing malicious extensions in Chrome and Edge browsers without permission, allowing it to steal almost everything on the device. It has been active since mid-2025.
– The attack begins with a file disguised as an invoice, payment receipt or bank document. Opening it may (or may not, depending on your device settings) show a fake error message while the malware downloads components, and then installs itself deep in to systems files where it will be hard to detect. KREMLIN waits for the browser to close, or forces it shut when idle, then copies the extension into browser profile files and alters preferences so Chromium loads it as legitimate.
– Once active it collects cookies, User session data, any saved data files (photos, documents, downloads, etc.), logs your keystrokes when signing into apps and websites including the usernames and passwords, takes screenshots of your online activity, copies open tabs and browsing history, redirects clicks, copies contact lists, scans all messenger apps conversations, hijacks your network connection redirecting you to a rouge network, and modifies website page content.
– Researchers advise distrusting files claiming to be invoices or bank documents, keeping devices and browsers updated, regularly using your anti-malware protection to do Full System scans, and checking your browser for installed extensions. If any unknown file extensions, browser add-ons, or apps appear; if passwords are changed that you didn’t change; if you find browser extensions you didn’t install; if your browser opens to a different startpage than you set – then stop using the device until you have had it analysed by a professional technician.
– The infection has been known to sometimes masquerade as an app or extension named ‘AVSync System Inc’. If you see that anywhere, the device certainly needs disinfection by a pro. There are legit apps with “AVSync” in their names, so look for this full name ‘AVSync System Inc’ in the app/extension’s properties to confirm if it is real or the malware. The legitimate software tools and apps with this name include Vega AVSync (a professional analysis tool) and a simple AV Sync app on Google Play for correcting audio-video timing errors.
– If passwords were entered during a possible infection, change them from a different, ‘known to be clean’ device (not at an internet cafe!), and review open sessions, closing all you don’t recognise.

– The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) received 467 requests for a second medical opinion last year and accepted 169 (36.1%) according to the Regional Ministry of Health. The figure is broadly stable, with totals not exceeding 500 since 2016.

WEST NILE VIRUS UPDATES
Andalusia raises the number of West Nile virus cases to 67 after detecting new human cases in El Puerto de Santa María and Utrera: {Trans, summary}

Among the interventions that can be funded are replacing bathtubs with adapted shower trays, installing grab bars in bathrooms, modifying doors and hallways to allow wheelchair access, and installing home automation systems for people with reduced mobility.
– The program also allows for improvements to shared spaces within buildings. Homeowners’ associations can apply for grants to undertake projects such as the installation of elevators, ramps, stairlifts, or automatic door openers, among other measures aimed at improving access and mobility for residents.
– In this type of intervention related to habitability and sustainability, the subsidy can reach 20,500 euros per dwelling, with a maximum limit of 80% of the expenditure considered eligible for subsidy .
– The amount of aid varies depending on the circumstances of the people living in the property. As a starting point, the subsidy can reach up to €13,000 per property. The amount increases to €18,000 when the home is occupied by a person over 65 years of age or someone with a recognized disability of 33% or more. If the resident has a disability of 65% or more, the aid can reach €20,500 per home. For actions aimed at achieving universal accessibility of the property, the maximum amount is 22,000 euros per dwelling.
– The grant can cover up to 70% of the cost of the work, a percentage that can be increased to 80% when a person over 65 years of age or with a disability of at least 33% lives in the home. The aim is to enable these residents to continue living in their homes and carry out their daily activities with greater independence.
– In addition, vulnerable families can access supplementary aid which, in certain cases, could cover 100% of the amount they have to contribute.
– There is also assistance available for safety and habitability. The State Housing Plan 2026-2030 includes other initiatives aimed at improving building conditions. Actions focused on improving safety can receive up to €8,000 per dwelling, always within the limit of 40% of the intervention cost.
– When these works are carried out together with accessibility or rehabilitation actions, the amount can increase up to 12,000 euros, with a maximum coverage of 60% of the budget.
– To be eligible for these subsidies, you must meet certain conditions. These include that the building must have been constructed and completed before 2006 , and the property must be the applicant’s primary residence. Vinyl forger in Southall made £2,700,000 selling fake Ed Sheeran, The Beatles, and Taylor Swift records:
– A man has been jailed after police seized a stash of over 2,000 fake vinyl records in an ‘entirely unlicensed manufacturing operation’.
– Over the past seven years, Rehan Ahmed is estimated to have made over £2,700,000 selling records by artists including The Beatles, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran. Ahmed has been jailed for three and a half years at Inner London Crown Court on Friday for what police called ‘a long-running, highly organised and entirely unlicensed manufacturing operation’.
– Vinyl has seen a massive resurgence in popularity over the last decade, with fans purchasing collector’s editions and multiple types of record to support their favourite artist.
– Ahmed, 40, of Cranleigh Gardens in Southall, west London, was arrested after police raided his factory in February 2024. At the warehouse, they uncovered the largest stash of fake vinyl ever found by police in the UK, with 2,791 records by 108 different artists discovered. Using four 70-year-old vinyl presses, they made copies of work by artists such as Adele, Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Drake, Beyonce and Rihanna. Police seized a total of 18 tonnes of evidence, including 3,000 metal stampers, thousands of sleeves, and centre labels.
