Sevilla Court Accepts Case Against the Ministry of Health For Vax Damage Claim- Paralysed young man claims 1 million euros for alleged Covid vaccine injuries: {Translation}
– A 19-year-old man from Ecija (Seville) has filed a claim against the Ministry of Health, asking for almost one million euros in damages, claiming that he was left paraplegic as a result of the second dose of the covid-19 vaccine.
– As his lawyer, Fernando Osuna, explained to EFE, and as stated in the complaint filed, the young man is using various medical reports to prove that his certified 84 percent disability is “directly related to the vaccine”, specifically to the second dose, which he received on 23 September 2021.
– According to him, after these doses he began to suffer “small sensory alterations with weakness in both arms” to which he did not attach importance, as he attributed them to the side effects of the vaccine itself, but in December 2021 he began to have motor alterations in his legs and pain in his back that worsened “until it became completely impossible for me to walk”.
– On 13 December 2021, he went to the Emergency Department of the Hospital de Alta Resolución de Écija, from where he was transferred to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville, where he was admitted until 5 January, and “after the corresponding treatment and diagnostic study” he was transferred “from the Neurology ward to the Spinal Cord Injury Unit”, to remain in hospital until 26 August.
– Two weeks earlier, on 11 August, he was diagnosed with “transverse myelitis in temporary relation to the second dose of vaccine with covid”, while the discharge report indicated “incomplete spinal cord injury of sensory level C7 right/C6 left, and motor level C7 right and C8 left of medical cause in probable relation to inflammatory aetiology”.
– The young man left the hospital with a treatment of seven different drugs, and on 11 December 2022 he was recognised with a degree of disability of 84 percent by resolution of the Territorial Delegation of the Regional Ministry of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality.
– The lawyer Fernando Osuna has pointed out that the young man was an active sportsman until he received the vaccine, and in the claim he asks to take into account that the rehabilitation treatment he has to undergo is not covered by the Public Health System, so that since September 2022 he has spent more than 6,000 euros travelling to Seville and paying for therapies in a private centre. UK

UK now a ‘legitimate Russian target’, pundits fear US caution on weapons could prolong war in Ukraine:
– British officials are now a “legitimate military target” for Russian attacks due to the UK’s support for Ukraine, a senior Kremlin official has warned – but pundits fear that America’s cautious approach to sending weapons could prolong the conflict.
– Dmitry Medvedev, deputy chairman of Vladimir Putin’s security council, said Britain’s actions amounted to an “undeclared war” on his country. His comments came after Foreign Secretary James Cleverly’s assertion that Ukraine had the right to “project force beyond its borders” into Russia to resist Putin’s invasion and defend itself.
– Mr Cleverly’s comments appeared at odds, however, with more cautious comments from Washington. On Tuesday, a National Security Council spokesperson said that the US did not support strikes within Russia. SPACE

Launch of Spain’s Miura 1 rocket aborted due to gusts of wind:
– The launch of Spain’s first reusable space rocket, the privately-developed Miura 1, has been suspended due to gusts of wind at the launch site in Andalucía Wednesday morning.
– The rocket had been given a launch window between 5.30am and 10.30am on Wednesday, 31 May after getting the green light from PLD Space, the company that built it. However, a problem with the oxygen charging caused the countdown to be stopped for a few minutes and, after that was overcome, an unfavourable weather forecast forced the blast-off to be suspended for an unknown period. Your questions answered by Ruth from Compare Funerals Spain
– Why should I have a funeral plan? Having been funeral planning for over 10 year I’ve experienced some very sad and upset families when nothing is in place. A Spanish funeral plans will ensure that all costs are covered for your funeral service. Getting a prepaid plan will help you feel assured that your family will not be under any financial strain when it comes to paying for your funeral. A plan also means you can have peace of mind that everything has been organised in advance, so your loved ones do not have to make any difficult decisions.
– Why choose Compare Funerals? There seems to be a gap in Spain between independent funeral directors, offering plans at a good price but lacking the security of an established Trust or ability to cover a client overseas and Providers who seem to charge more than necessary. We want to be right in the middle and offer the best of both worlds. Our best-priced plan is only 2,250€ and does the essentials.
– Can I do a payment plan? All our plans are payable in full or over up to 5 years interest FREE. The interest free periods are based on initial deposit. The higher the deposit the less your monthly repayments will be.
– Can I transfer the plan? The answer is YES. You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a friend/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.
– What happens if I move? All our plans offer the equivalent service in Spain (including the islands), Portugal, Republic of Ireland and the UK. If you moved to the UK, we would transfer the plan to one of our many partners at no extra cost to you.
– Is paperwork included? Yes, your family will receive a death certificate in Spanish and an international certification in English. We also provide a cremation certificate that allows the ashes on board a plane.

DoctorLaptop’s Computer Repairs & Services: Have your computer properly maintained with an annual professional servicing to keep it clean, running cool and thus extend its life. You don’t wait till your car engine freezes before you change your oil, now do you? If you do, the repair costs far more than the oil changes you skipped. It’s the same with computers. An inexpensive annual maintenance service is far cheaper than waiting until the device is annoyingly slow and popping up error messages, and thus in need of an expensive repair. Protect your computer & your privacy with annual servicing. The Doctor is closed on weekends. I do not work on computers that are more than 8 years old (pre 2015), unless they have been receiving annual servicing by me. Always include the patient’s make and model number when making support requests. DoctorLaptop’s Website & Contact Info: doctorlaptop@protonmail.com or call 675 993 069 after 12pm, missed calls returned asap. My contact details are shown every day in the Sponsor’s Section.

Interpreter: Do you need to see your doctor? Do you have a follow-up at the hospital that you’re worried about? You should have someone with you who can help. Most doctors speak a little English, but they prefer to have an interpreter there to avoid any misunderstanding. Fifteen years as a volunteer in Comarcal hospital and ten with private patients, makes me the perfect person to be there for you. Whether it’s at any of the Malaga hospitals or here in your local health center. I charge a flat, reasonable fee. I don’t charge by the hour. And my car is available if needed.

However, the number of people admitted to intensive care units (ICU) has increased, to 20 (+2).

La Viñuela reservoir reserves continue to fall despite recent rains: {Translation, summary}
– The water reserves in the reservoir of La Viñuela continue to fall despite the latest rains, insufficient to save the extreme drought situation. On Tuesday 30 May, the reservoir only contained 15.77 hectometres of water compared to 15.89 hectometres a week ago. The reservoir is therefore still below 10% of its total capacity, currently standing at a meagre 9.57%.

MALAGA PROVINCE

Weather Update- The terral arrives in Malaga before the rains return: {Translation, summary}
– Malaga enters a week of changeable weather. Wednesday there will be terral (a dry land-wind blowing from the Spanish peninsula outward in all directions toward the ocean) in the capital and maximum temperatures of between 26 and 28 degrees are expected. However, the situation will change Thursday, the temperatures will drop and on Friday the probability of rain will increase. The westerly winds will change and the easterly winds will arrive. As a result, maximum temperatures will drop to between 23 and 25 degrees for the rest of the week. As for minimum temperatures, they will remain at 18 degrees.
– Rain will also return. The probability of precipitation on Thursday is around 10%. Therefore, some isolated showers could occur, but it is from Friday onwards that rain is more likely. The likelihood of rain extends through the weekend. Although the heaviest showers could occur in the interior of the province, there is also the possibility of showers anywhere in the province, including the coast.
– Looking ahead to June, temperatures could remain at the same level on some days. Therefore, for Monday in the capital a maximum temperature of 23 degrees and a minimum of 18 degrees is expected, with a 50% chance of rain. As for the interior, in Antequera on Monday there is also a 50% chance of rain, the maximum temperatures will be similar to those in the capital, but the minimum will be around 14 degrees.

Glastonbury 2023 Info: 21-25 June
– Elton John on headlining Glastonbury 2023- “It’s the most wonderful way to sign off”. The legendary artist is due to top the bill on the Pyramid Stage at Worthy Farm in Pilton, Somerset on Sunday, June 25.
– Upon announcing the performance last December, organisers said: “This will be the final UK show of Elton’s last ever tour, so we will be closing the Festival and marking this huge moment in both of our histories with the mother of all send-offs.”
– John went on to say that his Glastonbury show will have a “different setlist” to the rest of his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour, which wraps up in the UK on June 18. “It’s gonna be much different,” the musician told Mills. “I’ve got guests who I can’t tell you who they are. But it’s gonna be wonderful – I’m really looking forward to it.”
– As for the future, the star explained to Radio 2 that his “piano won’t go away forever” but said he may still perform live on a “very sporadic” basis. “I really don’t want to tour again… I’m not going back to Vegas,” he told Mills.
– The singer will top the bill at Glastonbury 2023 alongside Arctic Monkeys and Guns N’ Roses. Other confirmed acts include Texas, Blondie, Steve Earle, Queens Of The Stone Age, Richard Thompson, Rickie Lee Jones, The Damned, Billy Bragg, & YUSUF(Cat Stevens).

Russia says drones lightly damage Moscow buildings before dawn, while Ukraine’s capital bombarded:
– A rare drone attack jolted Moscow early Tuesday, causing only light damage but forcing evacuations as residential buildings were struck in the Russian capital for the first time in the war against Ukraine. The Kremlin, meanwhile, pursued its relentless bombardment of Kyiv with a third assault on the city in 24 hours. The Russian Defense Ministry said five drones were shot down in Moscow and the systems of three others were jammed, causing them to veer off course. Photo: AP. ARTIFICIAL INTELLEGENCE (AI)

Top AI CEOs, experts raise ‘risk of extinction’ from AI:
– Top artificial intelligence executives including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman on Tuesday joined experts and professors in raising the “risk of extinction from AI”, which they urged policymakers to equate at par with risks posed by pandemics and nuclear war. “Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war,” more than 350 signatories wrote in a letter published by the nonprofit Center for AI Safety (CAIS).
– As well as Altman, they included the CEOs of AI firms DeepMind and Anthropic, and executives from Microsoft (MSFT.O) and Google (GOOGL.O). Also among them were Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio – two of the three so-called “godfathers of AI” who received the 2018 Turing Award for their work on deep learning – and professors from institutions ranging from Harvard to China’s Tsinghua University. After Socialist Wipeout In Regional Elections, Losing 6 of 9 Autonomous Communities That PSOE Governed, Sánchez Calls Early General Elections for July 23…5 Months Early: {Translation}
– Pedro Sánchez brings forward the general elections to 23 July after the PSOE’s electoral debacle in Sunday’s regional and municipal elections. The President of the Government has informed the King on Monday of the immediate dissolution of the Cortes Generales, as he announced in a brief institutional declaration on the steps of La Moncloa. An extraordinary Council of Ministers will be held this afternoon to proceed with the decree of dissolution.
– Sánchez has assured that he “assumes” responsibility for Sunday’s results, in which the PSOE has lost votes to the PP and has been defeated in almost all of its municipal and regional fiefdoms. PSOE sources confirm that he will once again be the PSOE’s candidate, clearing up any speculation in this regard. Spanish main opposition leader welcomes snap election:
– The leader of Spain’s conservative opposition People’s Party (PP) on Monday welcomed the announcement of a snap general election in July and asked voters to give his party a “clear majority”. “The sooner (the election), the better,” Alberto Nunez Feijoo {pic} told a news conference, Feijoo said the first step to unseat Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez was the PP’s strong showing in the local and regional elections held on Sunday, a result he said “Sanchez wants to go unnoticed” with the snap election announcement.
– “Spaniards have said ‘enough, we’ve had it up to here’,” he added.
– Only three of the 12 regions that held elections retained Socialist dominance, by very narrow margins, while the remaining nine were won by the PP. However, the conservatives will require coalitions or informal support agreements with the far-right Vox party in six regions where the PP fell short of securing a working majority. AXARQUIA

The PP won the elections in the Axarquia with 38.448 votes and 134 selectmen followed by the 23.921 votes and 124 councillors of the PSOE: {Translation, summary}
– The PSOE won the municipal elections in 15 towns in the Axarquia region, compared to 13 won by the PP. However, it was the Popular Party who won the big coastal towns, such as Rincón de la Victoria, Nerja, Torrox and Algarrobo, with absolute majorities, as well as Vélez-Málaga, which also won, although in this locality government pacts will be necessary. Por Mi Pueblo won the elections in Benamocarra and Cómpeta with absolute majorities and Con Andalucía in Sedella in the same way.
– The mayoral candidates who will be able to govern with an absolute majority in Rincón de la Victoria, Nerja, Torrox and Algarrobo will be, respectively, Francisco Salado, José Alberto Armijo, Óscar Medina and Natacha Rivas. For his part, Jesús Lupiáñez, in Vélez-Málaga, has two clear options for a pact, either with Andalucía Por Sí or with the Independent Group.
– As for the rest of Axarquia, the PSOE will be able to govern with an absolute majority in Macharaviaya, Alfarnatejo, La Viñuela, Frigiliana, Iznate, Almáchar, El Borge, Colmenar, Salares, Alfarnate, Sayalonga and Alcaucín. Government pacts will be necessary in Benamargosa, Totalán and Periana.
– The PP, for its part, achieved an absolute majority in Canillas de Albaida, Canillas de Aceituno, Árchez, Moclinejo, Cútar and Riogordo. It will require government pacts in Arenas and Comares. Precisely in the latter town, the PP, after forty years of absolute majorities of Manuel Robles, is left with four councillors, the same as Avanza Comares, while the PSOE obtained one councillor. It will be this local independent party that will decide the government. In a similar case is Totalán, where the Plataforma Ciudadana de la localidad, with one councillor, will be able to give the absolute majority to either PSOE or PP, with three councillors each.
– As for Vox, it has won five councillors in Axarquia, two in Rincón de la Victoria, one in Vélez-Málaga, and another in Torrox and Canillas de Aceituno. Ciudadanos only won two councillors in the region, one in Colmenar and one in Cómpeta. MALAGA PROVINCE

PP gets sweeping support from conservatives across Malaga province, gains more seats, has comfortable absolute majority:

Groundbreaking Israeli cancer treatment has 90% success rate against multiple myeloma:

– The treatment is based on genetic engineering technology, which is an effective and groundbreaking solution for patients whose life expectancy was only two years until a few years ago. They have used a genetic engineering technology called CAR-T, or Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell Therapy, which boosts the patient’s own immune system to destroy the cancer. More than 90% of the 74 patients treated at Hadassah went into complete remission, the oncologists said. Full article: https://www.jpost.com/health-and-wellness/article-744499

Extinction Rebellion protest in Netherlands ends with 1,579 arrested:
– More than 1,500 climate protesters have been arrested by police after blocking a major motorway in The Hague. During the protest, organised by Extinction Rebellion, activists walked onto the A12 highway demanding an end to fossil fuel subsidies. Police fired water cannon to try to disperse the crowds – but many came prepared in raincoats and swimsuits.
– Among those arrested was actress Carice van Houten, known for playing Melisandre in TV series Game of Thrones.
– Extinction Rebellion accused police of using water cannon just 15 minutes after the start of the blockade – but police said they had asked the activists to leave and gave them a chance to do so before using the water cannon.
– The 1,579 people who refused to leave were then arrested.

What is trans-disability?: {Translation, summary}
– The Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI) has announced this Thursday that it has started working on the development of a position as an entity on the phenomenon of the so-called ‘Transdisability’, that is, on whether disability is objective or a matter of mere desire (There exist people that want to be disabled or blind, or feel that parts of their body need removal. Yes, this is a thing now. “Body integrity dysphoria is a psychiatric condition characterized by a persistent desire to acquire physical disability [e.g., amputation, paraplegia]. Body integrity dysphoria is also termed as body integrity identity disorder, amputee identity disorder, and xenomelia.” Ref: https://www.news-medical.net/health/What-is-Body-Integrity-Dysphoria.aspx – Ed.)
– Pérez Bueno warned of the arrival of “a disruptive debate” and “with some frivolous overtones” on whether disability “is an objective question that goes beyond the person” or whether disability “is a question of mere desire, of sensations and feelings, of self-perception”.
– According to CERMI, within this context, the members of the Ethics Council have assessed the need to draw up a monograph on this issue, which is beginning to emerge in the social debate.
– During the meeting, the executive director of CERMI, Pilar Villarino, put forward proposals and improvements for the updating of the Code of Ethics, as well as the specific wording and location of the proposals for change derived from legal texts such as the Law for the real and effective equality of trans people and for the guarantee of the rights of LGTBI people. Your thoughts can harm your neck and back during lifting tasks:
– The mental distress of cognitive dissonance – encountering information that conflicts with how we act or what we believe – can lead to added pressure on the neck and low back during lifting and lowering tasks, new research suggests. “We found that in certain personality types, the loads in the spine increased by up to 35%,” Marras, executive director of the Spine Research Institute at The Ohio State University said. “We ended up finding that when you’re under that kind of psychosocial stress, what you tend to do is what we call co-activate muscles in your torso. It creates this tug of war in the muscles because you’re always tense. Full article: https://www.eurekalert.org/news-releases/990383
Practitioner summary: Upon establishing a cognitive dissonance state in a group of participants, spinal loading in the cervical and lumbar spines were increased proportional to the magnitude of the cognitive dissonance reported. Therefore, cognitive dissonance may represent a risk factor for low back and neck pain that has not been previously identified.

CULTURE

Twenty years of a music museum in Malaga where touching (and playing) the exhibits is allowed:
– The Interactive Museum of Music (MIMMA), has more than a thousand pieces from all over the world, making this one of the best collections in Spain. Uniquely, it is also known for introducing the radical concept of inviting the public to ‘please touch’ the exhibits. In fact, the motto in Spanish ‘Se ruega tocar’ goes a lot further in this case than telling visitors they can touch the exhibits, as ‘tocar’ also means to play an instrument. And you only need to walk through the heart of the museum in the remodelled Palacio del Conde de las Navas to see how the slogan sets the tone for the visits.
Address: Conde de las Navas Palace, C/ Beatas 15, 29008 Málaga

Malaga’s Museum of Glass unveils completed renovations to mark anniversary:
– Friday, 26 May, marked the 14th anniversary of one of Malaga’s most fascinating attractions, the city’s Museum of Glass. The museum’s popularity continues to grow thanks to the strenuous efforts of its promoter, the collector Gonzalo Fernandez-Prieto.
– Six years ago he decided to expand the museum with an adjacent building that today is a reality and has given way to a sort of Andalucian-style courtyard overlooking the Philippine temple, and it can be enjoyed without having to pay admission to the collection, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11am to 7pm. MiniGolf La Herradura:
-Lessons Available! While taking a professional minigolf lesson may sound extreme, perhaps you’re embroiled in a pitched battle for Minigolf La Herradura bragging rights with an upstart sibling, a pool of friends, or, heaven forbid a spouse. One lesson on the sly may provide just the fix to move from the lowly Black Eye side of the ledger to the winner’s Feather in Your Cap status with all its attendant glory.
The lesson will consist of first learning a proper putting stroke, one that would carry over onto a real golf course, followed by playing the course. You’ll learn the rules and etiquette of minigolf and receive hole-by-hole instruction on how to avoid the various obstacles or use them to your advantage, as well as how to get out of trouble if, for example, you find yourself trapped underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. The price is ten euros for the hour.
-Available for Rent: Are you an instructor of perhaps yoga, or pilates, Tai Chi, painting, massage, various crafts, etc., and looking for a peaceful outdoor space to host classes? Lucky you, your search is over. At MiniGolf La Herradura we have a racquet sport/lawn game area of artificial grass measuring 20 x 10 metres that would easily accommodate groups of up to 20 adults.
This area can be rented by the hour at very affordable rates, especially during the week between 9:00 – 17:00. Of course, there are restroom facilities available, potable water and most importantly plenty of fresh air on a comfortable surface. Ring Scott on +34 603 416 632 for more details or stop by and have a look.
-Location: We could not be easier to find. We are just two small alleys off the beachfront Paseo directly behind the children’s playground, the Centro de Salud, post office and newly remodeled market/food court. Please visit our website: http://www.minigolflh.es for a Google map which pins us down exactly.
-Admission fee: Current pricing is: six euros for 12 and unders, 8,50€ for 13 and over. Family discounts are also on offer such as 2 adults and 2 children for only 25 euros. This price includes all activities on the grounds and is valid for the entire day. Feel free to ring proprietor Scott Huston for booking availability and confirmation on +34 603 416 632.
-Opening hours: We are currently open from 11:30am until 2:00pm and 5:30pm until 9:00pm six days a week (closed Wednesday). It is recommended though to call in advance. Because I work alone and have a parrot and dog to take care of, I’m occasionally running a few minutes late.
Best regards, Señor Minigolf, Scott Huston / La Herradura

Free: Wood burner – free to good home.
I have this wood burner that is taking up space in my garage and has to go. It works fine and we used it for about ten years until we bought a bigger one. The chimney comes out of the back of the unit. It’s free for anyone who wants it. It’s currently in the back of my van and will be dumped at the bins at the weekend where I have no doubt it will be claimed very quickly, so if anyone wants it then it will have to be collected in the next few days.
It’s very heavy and requires two people to lift it. It might fit in a large estate car but I can’t be sure.
I could deliver it for 50 euros if within an hour of my house but would prefer someone to just come and take it away. If I deliver it (reluctantly) then I’m not lugging it up or down steps. You’ll need a couple of people to lift it.
My house is near Otivar which is 20 minutes north of Almunecar.

The Housing Law, which limits rental prices & rent increases, and establishes new eviction procedures, comes into force from today (26/5): {Translation}
– The Housing Law, which among other measures will limit the price of rents, will come into force tomorrow, Friday, once the text has been published today in the Official State Gazette (BOE), which means that it will begin to be applied before the regional and municipal elections this Sunday. However, the tax incentives that will be applied in the IRPF (personal income tax) to the leasing of property used for housing will be left until 1 January 2024.
– A month earlier, the text had received the green light from the Congress of Deputies. However, it was not until Thursday that the regulation was published in the BOE. In this period, real estate agencies working with small landlords were already detecting a flight of landlords from renting their usual housing to other modalities or to selling before the new law officially came into force, especially in the big cities.
– The new text introduces limitations on rent increases. For this year, the 2% cap on rent rises will be maintained, a percentage that will increase to 3% in the annual renewals of rental contracts in 2024 and that by 2025 will be referenced to a new index, lower than the evolution of the CPI, which will be drawn up by the National Statistics Institute (INE) and will be ready for 1 January of that year.
– The text incorporates changes in the definition of “large tenant”, which in stressed areas will be those with five or more properties and who will have to set the rent according to the reference price index system.
– The regulation also provides for surcharges of between 50 and 150 % on property tax (IBI) for dwellings that have been empty for more than two years, in order to encourage renting. – In addition, it allows for an extraordinary one-year extension of rental contracts for accredited situations of social or economic vulnerability, prevents evictions for non-payment without announcing a date and time, and includes new extensions that allow for postponements, among other measures.
(I asked some local squatters about this. They said these regulations will be exploited. They say this will encourage people to pay 1 months rent & deposit, and then remain in the property for 18 months or more, without paying rent. Families with children will probably be able to stretch out the unpaid occupancy for years! The squatters also suggested that young Spanish people, even those with decent jobs, who feel priced out of the rental market by “evil” foreign speculators, will believe they are justified to use these new laws to secure affordable homes by not paying rent after moving in. Besides, until the current court workers strike is settled, landlords can’t even get a complaint processed in Malaga!  -Ed.) Catalonia’s Claims to Financially Support the Rest of Spain (and thus deserve more federal funds than other regions) Is No Longer True! – Andalucía overtakes Catalonia for first time as Spanish region with the highest trade surplus:
– Andalucía closed the 2022 fiscal year with a historical record in sales of goods and services to the other Spanish regions. It reached the record figure of 48.2 billion euros, the highest in history, since records have been collected in 1995. This allowed Andalusian companies to surpass Catalan companies in sales to other Spanish regions for the first time, according to the regional ministry of Economy, Finance and European Funds, based on data from the Weekly Economic Observatory.
– The report presented by the regional minister Carolina España on Tuesday to the Junta, also points out another historical record: the trade surplus. This indicator, which in international trade indicates the differential between exports and imports, is also used to measure the same concept between Spain’s regions. Andalucía achieved a margin of almost 24 billion euros last year , which is a record figure and also higher than that achieved by Catalonia. The growth was 62.5 per cent with respect to the fiscal year 2021.
– March also witnessed the recovery of positive growth rates of agri-food exports, as well as the fact that Andalucía achieved a surplus between exports and exports (531 million), which contrasts with the deficit recorded at a national level (-157.7 million euros), according to the report from the regional ministry of Economy. MALAGA PROVINCE

Housing market stalls on Costa with sales falling for third month in a row: After three consecutive months of falling sales and two months with fewer mortgage applications, it is safe to say that the real estate market has changed its pace in Malaga province. This year has started with a cooling that experts blame on the historic rise in the Euribor and the escalation in house prices. In January, February and March there were year-on-year falls in the number of property transfers in the province (minus 12.5% in January, -5.8% in February and -16.4% in March), and on mortgage loans (minus 11% in January and -17% in February). Strike action causes courts to collapse and halts 12,000 cases in Malaga:
– Around 12,000 cases have been halted and 2,600 trials suspended in Malaga province since court workers went on strike a month ago to demand better pay. Around 8,000 justice officials in Spain started their protests on 17 April, which according to sources, is causing a major collapse in courts throughout the country.
– The strike is also affecting the electronic Lexnet notifications sent out by civil servants. As part of the protests the civil servants have stopped registering, initiating and processing proceedings for civil, criminal and labour court cases. According to the Workers’ Commission (CCOO) there are some courts in Malaga that have come to a complete halt.
– The percentage of civil servants in Malaga supporting the protests has not dropped below 65% for a single day since 17 April, CC OO pointed out.
– The organising associations – CISF, CCOO, UGT and STAJ, and independently, the SPJ-USO union – are calling on the national Ministry of Justice to “take seriously the demands” and to start negotiations with the national strike committee, “as has been done with the associations of judges and prosecutors without them having to go on strike for a single day”. EUROPE

Labour leaders push for faster implementation of EU Minimum Wage Directive: At the European Trade Union Confederation’s (ETUC) 50th anniversary Berlin meeting, labour leaders and EU lawmakers pushed for faster implementation of the Minimum Wage Directive and criticised the role of corporate profits in rising prices. The 2022 directive mandates EU member states that have statutory minimum wages to introduce processes to ensure wage rates remain “adequate”, with the two-year implementation period starting in October.
More importantly for trade unions, the directive also forces member states with a collective bargaining coverage below 80% to draw up action plans to increase it, thus strengthening the position of trade unions. Shocked Greek Left picks up its pieces after election disaster:
– The main opposition leftist Syriza party (EU Left) is in a deep crisis after the conservative New Democracy party (EPP) triumphed in the Sunday elections and is now on track to form a single-party government.
– All polls failed to project the sweeping victory of the conservative party, taking by surprise even the most optimistic right-wing politicians. New Democracy has a clear 20-point lead over Syriza. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said he would seek a single-party government in the second round, expected on 25 June or 2 July. The weakest link – How construction workers are exploited in subcontracting chains: {Editorial by Tom Deleu, the General Secretary of the European Federation of Building and Woodworkers}
– In construction, long and complex subcontracting chains are a major factor of exploitation. If done in an appropriate way, subcontracting should not be a problem. Trouble starts when subcontracting is simply used to reduce costs and escape legal responsibilities. These subcontractors repeatedly vanish without paying workers or leave them in the cold when an accident occurs. It is time to put an end to this. The European Commission (EC) must act. It is time to limit subcontracting.
– Because of existing loopholes in European and national law, such practices are not necessarily always illegal, but they are certainly abusive and immoral.
– An increasing number of large companies use the term ‘specialised work’ for normal, labour-intensive construction work. These companies use subcontracting chains to disguise employment relationships, use bogus self-employment, outsource key construction tasks to curb labour costs and open the doors for fraudulent companies who use cross-border subcontracting to make a profit with severe wage competition, exploitation, and social dumping.
– At the end of the chain are the workers and their families, who end up being the weakest link. Abusive subcontracting is an obstacle to sustainable growth and destroys the social market economy and fair competition. EU lawmakers to steer discussions on therapeutic use of psychedelics:
– Seven EU parliamentarians have formed a new group to steer institutional discussions on the therapeutic application of psychedelics. On Wednesday (24 May), an MEP Action Group for the Medical Use of Psychedelics was launched in combination with PAREA and PsychedelicsEUROPE, which aims to promote the development of EU policies and regulations for psychedelic-assisted treatments in the EU. It is “a historical event”, co-chair and Maltese MEP Alex Agius Saliba from the Socialist (S&D) group said during a launch event at the European Parliament.
– “Psychedelic therapies show promise in several neurological conditions,” Saliba said during the launch event, while David Nutt, neuropsychopharmacology professor at Imperial College London and chair of PAREA, nodded his head in approval.
According to Nutt, psychedelics “disrupt ongoing thought loops, which are common and destructive, and in many ways are the underpinning processes of disorders like depression, PTSD, and addiction”. “By disrupting cortical activity [in the brain], we disrupt the thinking processes, and people can kind of escape from the cognitive controls, which have been holding them tight into those illnesses,” the professor explained. Saliba underlined that “these therapies require thoughtful, coordinated policies and infrastructure to ensure safe, equitable and also effective deployment”.
– “This is where the European Parliament steps in,” Saliba said.

Germany falls into recession as inflation, higher interest rates curb demand:
– Germany fell into a recession around the turn of the year, official figures published Thursday showed, as inflation and higher interest rates curbed demand in Europe’s largest economy.
– Over the first three months of 2023, the economy shrank by 0.3 percent, the federal statistics agency Destatis said, downgrading an initial estimate of zero percent. Following a 0.5 percent contraction in the last three months of 2022, it was Germany’s second consecutive quarter of negative growth – the threshold for a “technical recession”. Ketamine Could Be Superior To  Shock Therapy for Major Depression:
– Currently, patients with major depressive disorder, who don’t find a medication or therapy that works, may undergo electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), also known as shock therapy. However, this often has significant negative, long lasting side effects, and another alternative has long been sought by researchers.
– One of the possible alternatives researchers have been studying as a potential antidepressant is intravenous ketamine, a powerful anaesthetic that’s also long been used as an illicit ‘party’ drug. They say the results of a new study were surprising. The study found the antidepressant response rate for patients with IV ketamine was 55%. For those receiving ECT, the response rate was 41%.
– The findings apply to patients who don’t have psychosis but have treatment-resistant major depression that has not been helped through two or three earlier medications. The main takeaway, Murrough said, is that for doctors treating these patients, ketamine is something they could consider as an alternative to ECT. ABBA ‘will not reunite’ for Eurovision 2024 in Sweden, according to Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson: ABBA have denied rumours that they will reunite for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in their native Sweden, on what would be the 50th anniversary of them winning the contest with the now iconic tune- Waterloo.
Dashing the hopes of Eurovision fans everywhere, ABBA members Bjorn Ulvaeus and Benny Anderson spoke to the BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire on last night’s Newsnight, where they ruled out an in-person, on-stage reunion with Anni-Frid and Agnetha. Leaked Government Document Shows Spain Wants to Ban End-to-End Encryption in WhatsApp, Signal and All Other Messaging Apps in EU:
– Spain has advocated for banning encryption for hundreds of millions of people within the European Union, according to a leaked document obtained by WIRED that reveals strong support among EU member states for proposals to scan private messages for illegal content.
– The proposed legislation has been criticised by privacy rights campaigners as well as by tech experts, who say that it is not possible for encrypted messages to be ‘scanned’ by the providers, as the very point of end-to-end messengers is that they are only visible to the parties involved, with even the provider itself being blocked from viewing the content. Therefore, the law would in reality force the companies to break their encrypted services.
– For years, EU states have debated whether end-to-end encrypted communication platforms, such as WhatsApp and Signal, should be protected as a way for Europeans to exercise a fundamental right to privacy- or weakened to keep criminals from being able to communicate outside the reach of law enforcement. Experts who reviewed the document at WIRED’s request say it provides important insight into which EU countries plan to support a proposal that threatens to reshape encryption and the future of online privacy.
– Of the 20 EU countries represented in the document leaked to WIRED, the majority said they are in favour of some form of scanning of encrypted messages, with Spain’s position emerging as the most extreme. “Ideally, in our view, it would be desirable to legislatively prevent EU-based service providers from implementing end-to-end encryption,” Spanish representatives said in the document. Spain said it is “imperative that we have access to the data”. Spain’s interior minister, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, has been outspoken about what he considers the threat posted by encryption. When reached for comment about the leaked document, Daniel Campos de Diego, a spokesperson for Spain’s Ministry of Interior, says the country’s position on this matter is widely known and has been publicly disseminated on several occasions.
– “Detection orders must necessarily also apply to encrypted networks (VPNs),” Slovenia said. Full article: https://www.wired.com/story/europe-break-encryption-leaked-document-csa-law/

Concert: (Highly Recommended! There are still a limited number of good seats available for this show)
Ara Malikian – Festival 1001 Músicas en la Alhambra
Friday, 8 Sept 2023, 21:30
Teatro del Generalife, C/ Real de la Alhambra 28, Granada
Info & map: https://www.conciertosengranada.es/locales/teatro-del-generalife
– Winner of the most prestigious awards worldwide, Ara Malikian performs over 450 performances a year in more than 40 countries. He is currently touring with more than 10 different shows accompanied by renowned musicians. He has recorded more than 40 albums and has created his own orchestra.
– An inexhaustible musical and human restlessness has led Ara Malikian to delve into his own Armenian roots and to assimilate the music of other cultures from the Middle East (Arabic and Jewish), Central Europe (gypsy and kletzmer), Argentina (tango) and Spain (flamenco), all within a very personal language with the virtuosity and expressiveness of the great European classical tradition.
– His quality and level as a violinist has been recognised in numerous prestigious competitions worldwide, and he has been awarded twice in “The Music Awards” in the categories of “Best album of new music” and “Best classical music performer”.
– He arrived in Spain fleeing the Lebanese war and post-war period and came to play on the streets and in the underground. But his peculiar idiosyncrasy, his unorthodox image, his instrumental genius not without a sense of spectacle, together with his friendly accessibility have made Ara Malikian one of the most popular musicians in our country. And as such, he has to expand his capacity, from the small village theatres where he took refuge, to the sports palaces and bullrings, which will soon be football pitches or giant coliseums. SPAIN

Brussels urges Spain to begin the withdrawal of aid due to the energy crisis and other measures to reduce debt: {Translation, summary}
– The European Commission has recommended this Wednesday to Spain the gradual suppression of energy support measures by the end of 2023, with the exception of the energy tax, and its total elimination in 2024, while encouraging the use of the corresponding savings to reduce the public deficit to limit spending and thus meet the fiscal requirements demanded for next year.
– Brussels also encourages Spain to preserve nationally financed public investment and ensure the effective absorption of grants from the Recovery and Resilience fund and other EU support, in particular to foster the green and digital transitions.
– Other recommendations put forward by Brussels include reducing dependence on fossil fuels, accelerating the deployment of renewable energies, increasing the availability of energy-efficient social and affordable housing, and intensifying policy efforts aimed at providing and acquiring the necessary skills for the green transition. Analysis- For Spain’s Socialists, Regional Elections A Rehearsal For National Vote:
– In speeches across the country ahead of regional elections on Sunday, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has promised two-euro cinema tickets for the elderly, affordable homes for the young and money to mitigate the effects of a long-term drought.
– Sanchez’s electoral pledges show how he is using Sunday’s ballot to set the stage for a national vote due to take place at the end of the year that will decide whether his Socialist party remains in power, according to Lluis Orriols, professor of political science at Carlos III University.
– More than 35 million Spaniards will vote in 12 regions and 8,000 towns and cities, most of them currently governed by the Socialists (PSOE). Polls are predicting gains for the conservative People’s Party (PP), which if replicated later in the year could unseat the current left-wing coalition. ANDALUCIA

The Medical Union rejects the agreement with the Board due to the lack of doctors: {Translation}
– Andalusian public health requires at least 1,200 doctors, and the main problem of this health system is the lack of physicians, according to the Andalusian Medical Union (SMA), which did not sign the agreement with the Board that the other unions have signed for not fixing that problem.
– The president of the SMA, Rafael Carrasco, who has warned the Board that it cannot be solved without the doctors and that this union represents more than 90 percent of them, while the subscribers to the agreement hardly have any physicians as members.
– Carrasco has given the example of the two hundred positions for family doctors in Andalusia for which there have been no applicants, while the agreement signed by the rest of the unions lacks even a measure to make these positions attractive. The SMA has asked the Board what it intends to do to make this region attractive to doctors and has described the incentive of 150 euros per month offered by the regional Administration for positions that are difficult to fill as insulting, since in other communities that same incentive It is multiplied by ten and, according to Carrasco, “it doesn’t even give enough for gasoline to get to those places.”
– The union has also reproached the Board for having offered more than a thousand places for other categories, including those of a purely administrative nature, and for having avoided increasing a supports that depends on the regional Administration, such as training and responsibility.
– He has also regretted that the responsible counselor, Catalina García, continues to differentiate between specialists and family doctors and continues to offer increases of more than double for the former, to the detriment of the latter.
– The SMA has also rejected that the Ministry has conditioned the Pact on the Professional Career to which it has now signed with the unions -except the SMA- to try to end the protests of the doctors who, in the form of strikes and concentrations, have been taking place since months ago. This connection of one pact with another has been described as “blackmail” and therefore “improper and unacceptable” by Carrasco.
– According to the SMA, the Board leads to “a model of overcrowded health centers” because “it is not that there are no doctors, it is that they leave for better positions elsewhere”, since many good professionals are trained every year in the faculties of Andalusia.
– Andalusia has 524 doctors for every 100,000 inhabitants, while another community such as the Basque Country has 692 for the same number of inhabitants.
– On the order projected at the time by the Board to refer patients from Primary Care to private healthcare, which has been described by Carrasco as “inopportune and barbaric” and that would mean an “excessive payment” with respect to the costs involved in public health, the SMA considers that it has not been withdrawn despite the agreement with the rest of the unions.
– After the press conference, which coincides with the seventh day of the strike called by this union, a demonstration has begun that will run from the Palacio de San Telmo, headquarters of the Presidency of the Board, to the headquarters of the Andalusian Health Service. MALAGA PROVINCE

Malaga province and Costa del Sol weather will remain cool and wet into June:
– The unstable weather, which has set the tone in the second half of this month, is on track to extend to the first third of June, according to the state weather agency’s forecasts.
– For now, what remains of this week will be similar to the previous one. The isolated depression at high altitude (Dana) that is affecting Malaga province and the Costa del Sol now will move away between today (24 May) and Thursday, which will give rise to a small lull. But only for a short time, as another Dana will enter from the north starting Friday, and it threatens to bring more rain during the weekend. The new Dana will be formed in the Atlantic, which will influence the southern part of the Spanish mainland. This will continue having an effect during all that remains of May and may even continue at the start of June. The ‘Rainbow Family’ camp illegally in the Natural Park of Cádiz and defy the authorities: {Translation}
– Around 50 people have been camping illegally since last Saturday in the area up to Fardela, in the Cadiz municipality of Benaocaz, in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park, where they are building bonfires, dumping rubbish and pitching tents to spend the night.
– According to local newspaper La Voz del Sur, they are members of The Rainbow Family, which describes itself as a hippie commune. Their spokesman, Juan, has expressed his indignation, denying that they are causing any kind of disturbance and clarifying that “we are a family, there are old people, children and teenagers, and we come to learn from each other”.
– For her part, the mayoress of Benaocaz, Olivia Venegas, has reported that this group has settled in this area motivated by “a lunar cycle” and that they are expected to stay 28 days, although the settlement, she recalled, is illegal because “you can’t camp, they are dumping waste and are making fires, something that is totally forbidden.”
– Access to the area has been cut off. Sources from the Civil Guard in Cádiz have indicated that they are already preventing access to the area so that the group does not increase and to be able to evict those who are “little by little”, warning that they have already been given numerous sanctions. The bonfires they light are also being extinguished and the structures they have been setting up are being dismantled.
– The agents are currently working to identify these fifty or so people, although, “they are not very cooperative”. In addition, campers have stated that they have settled illegally in the area after they asked the Town Hall to carry out this encampment, something that was denied.
– In view of the situation, the mayoress of Benaocaz, Olivia Venegas, has conveyed a message of calm to her neighbours, to whom she has conveyed that “everything is going to flow normally and that in a short time this is going to be resolved”. EUROPE

France bans short-haul flights with train alternative as of Wednesday: {Translation, summary}
– France is banning regional flights from today (24/5) when there is an alternative train service of less than two and a half hours, with immediate effect on air links between Nantes, Bordeaux, Lyon and Paris-Orly. The decree, which applies for a period of three years, states that train journeys must have “sufficient frequencies and adequate timetables”, while the connection must allow the passenger to spend more than eight hours at the destination during the day. In addition, the train service must be operated between stations serving the same cities as the respective airports concerned.
– In this regard, the French Minister of Transport, Clément Beaune, welcomed this measure as an essential step and a strong symbol in the policy to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. “It is a world first and is fully in line with the government’s policy of encouraging the use of modes of transport that emit less greenhouse gases,” he said in a statement.
– However, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), through its director general, Willie Walsh, described the measure as “completely absurd” and that it “serves no purpose”. Walsh explained that if all routes of less than 500 kilometres in Europe were eliminated, 24% of flights would be eliminated, but, on the other hand, CO2 emissions would fall by only 3.84%, citing a Eurocontrol report.
– In addition, one of the airlines’ employers, A4E, lamented that “banning these journeys will have only minimal effects” on CO2 emissions. It also said governments should support “real and meaningful solutions” to the problem. Sniffer dogs join search for Madeleine McCann at Portuguese reservoir:
– Police deployed heavy equipment and sniffer dogs on Wednesday, the second day of a search at a remote reservoir in Portugal for evidence linking a German suspect to the disappearance of British toddler Madeleine McCann 16 years ago.
– Emergency services brought in a remote-controlled tractor-mounted tree cutter to clear what appeared to be a new search area, a few hundred metres (yards) away from a temporary camp set up on Tuesday on the shores of the Arade reservoir by Portuguese police, assisted by German and British counterparts.
– Citing a source close to the investigation, Portugal’s Expresso newspaper said the German Federal Criminal Police Office acted on a tip-off from an informer, “whom German police consider very credible” and who provided them with details that the investigators “are taking very seriously”.
– Prosecutor Christian Wolters in Braunschweig, Germany, told broadcaster NDR the information did not come from the suspect and there was “no confession or anything similar”, and police were not necessarily looking for McCann’s remains at the Arade. – Other participants in last night’s tribute show included Billy Gibbons, John McLaughlin, Robert Randolph, Gary Clark Jr., Joss Stone, Susan Tedeschi, Derek Trucks, Imelda May, Olivia Safe, and Doyle Bramhall. Some Observations: 1) Clapton is looking very well, he’d had a vax reaction and was in poor shape for a while. 2) Notice in video 2, Susan Tedeschi, she’s pegged as the next in line for Bonnie Raitt’s crown as top American blues lady. She’s married to the guy with the ponytail, Derek Trucks, Allman Brothers guitarist and nephew of the late Butch Trucks, drummer for the Allman Brothers. They together have a band called  Tedeschi Trucks Band

You could name 2 people on one plan however if you had a freind/family member pass away we can transfer the plan into a 3rd party’s name.

ANDALUCIA

Reservoirs continue to decline despite recent rains: {Translation}
– The rains that have fallen over the last few days in Andalusia are “insufficient” and have not changed the situation in most of the reservoirs, in which there are 3,279 hm3 of water in storage, which represents 27.39% of the total capacity of 11,971 hm3.
– The decrease in the last week has been 40 hm3 (0.33% less water) and comparing the situation with that of a year ago at this time, there are 136 hm3 less than then.
– In general the reservoirs have not recorded significant changes except for the one at Cuevas de la Almanzora (Almeria), which has received 5.6 cubic hectometres and is expected, as a result of runoff from the sierra, to reach 15 cubic hectometres.
– According to the latest hydrological situation report, the Guadalquivir river basin district is at 24.18% of its capacity, having fallen by 15 hm3 , which represents 1,942 hm3. The decrease in the last week has been 0.19% and there are currently 670 hm3 less than just a year ago.
– With regard to the Andalusian Mediterranean basins, the water in reservoirs has fallen by a further 8 hm3 in one week, 0.69% less, and now stands at 404 hm3 (34.89% of its total capacity). In one year, the decrease has been 198 hm3, while the Guadalete-Barbate demarcation continues to reduce its reserves by 9 hm3 in one week (0.55% less) and stands at 431 hm3 (26.65% of its capacity). In the last year these water reserves have been reduced by 172 hm3 .
– The Tinto-Odiel-Piedras-Chanza has 502 hm3 of water resources in storage (45.02% of its capacity) after a further decrease of 8 hm3 (0.72% less). In mid-May 2022 there was around 99 hm3 more than now. Source, Spanish: https://andaluciainformacion.es/andalucia/1271735/los-embalses-siguen-a-la-baja-pese-a-las-ultimas-lluvias/

PRODUCT ALERT

UPDATED 23May23, 19:03H- Food alert over the sale of olive oil “unfit for human consumption”- 11 brands are involved: {Translation, summary}
– The Regional Government of Extremadura has confirmed to FACUA Extremadura that it has immobilised nearly 70,000 litres of oils unfit for human consumption from 11 brands involved in an alleged crime against public health and fraud. This is due, as FACUA indicates in the communiqué, to “the sale of supposedly adulterated virgin olive oil marketed in 5-litre carafes in street markets, shops and petrol stations in this autonomous community and in Andalusia”.
– The Directorate General of Public Health of the Extremadura Health Service (SES) has received a report from the Fraud and Agricultural Quality Unit, which has interpreted the analytical results that were carried out on the oil samples. Specifically, 17 samples of the immobilised oils were taken, concluding that “the 13 samples of extra virgin oil have been classified as lampante, unfit for human consumption”.
What are the brands?
La Esmeralda / Vareado / Acebuche / Virgen del Guadiana
Cortijo del Oro / La Campiña de Andalucía / Galiaceite 2022
La Abadía / Aromas Villa de Jerez / Don Jaén / Andalusian Empire
– The Extremadura Health Service has detected that some of the oils withdrawn from the market were mixed “with rapeseed, pomace or seed oil”. Therefore, not only was it mixed with other oils of lower quality, but it was also unfit for consumption.
– All the products concerned were packaged in 5-litre plastic bottles. Following the corresponding investigations, those responsible are facing a crime against Public Health.
– “FACUA Extremadura reminds consumers who have purchased any of these affected products that they can take them to the corresponding establishment to request reimbursement of the price paid or replacement with a new product that complies with the regulations”, they indicate. Free AI tool removes the clothes from people in photos: Remember “X-Ray Specs” sold in comic books and on paper matchbook covers (younger readers can look that up)? It was only a matter of time; there are now free AI powered “Clothes Removing” tools available online, to convert clothed pics into nudes. The free, simple to use “teaser” versions provide out of focus results (see sample below), which are bad enough, but for just a few euros a month, you can have clear results. And the quality will rapidly improve as these are very popular tools and there is a ton of money to be made by providing the best results. I won’t provide a link, but if you do a web-search for Deep Nude you’ll find the tools.

Former Beatles bass player Chas Newby, 81, dies as tributes pour in:
– Newby was a member of John Lennon’s first band, The Quarrymen, and news of his passing has been announced by The Cavern Club in Liverpool, where the Beatles first rose to prominence.
– In a Facebook post, a spokesperson explained: “It’s with great sadness to hear about the passing of Chas Newby. “Chas stepped in for The Beatles for a few dates when Stuart Sutcliffe stayed in Hamburg and latterly he played for The Quarrymen. “Interestingly, he was also the first left-handed bass guitarist in The Beatles. RIP Chas Newby thoughts and well wishes from everybody at The Cavern Club.”
– Beatles historian Mark Lewishon has also taken to social media to pay tribute to the musician. Mark explained that he deputised for Stuart “on a few dates” and he descried Newby as a “charming man”. He wrote on Twitter: “RIP Chas Newby, fill-in Beatle and fair chap. He deputised for Stuart on a few dates when the Beatles returned from Hamburg the first time, end-1960, including the momentous Litherland date. Latterly he’s been one of the Quarry Men too. A charming man, always a pleasure to meet. (sic)”
– Lennon reportedly wanted Newby to continue on tour with the band when they headed to West Germany in the 1960s. However, Newby declined the offer to tour with the Beatles and he instead returned to university. Photo: MetroUK. SPAIN

The butane cylinder falls to its lowest price in almost two years: {Translation, summary}
– The maximum retail price of the butane cylinder will drop this Tuesday by 4.9%, to 15.96 euros, its lowest amount since July 2021, according to the bimonthly review published this Monday in the Official Gazette of State (BOE). During the almost two last months the cost was at 16.79 euros, according to the calculations provided by the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge.
– This reduction is mainly due to the sharp fall in the price of raw materials (25.8%) and, to a lesser extent, to the appreciation of the euro against the dollar (0.9%), cushioned by the existing surplus, which increases from 0.97 euros per bottle to 1.76 euros. Spain to guarantee insurance rights for cancer survivors:
– Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has announced that Spain will guarantee insurance rights for people who have survived cancer.
The move was declared on Saturday, May 13th in Seville during a meeting with several cancer associations, and will (supposedly) come into force in June.
(If Parliament does in fact pass such a law, of which there is no guaranty)…this will mean that those who have suffered from cancer at one point or another throughout their lives will not have to justify their health history in order to be able to take out life insurance, request a loan or even to secure a mortgage to buy a home. The Spanish government will reform the law to “declare null and void all the clauses based on oncological history that exclude or discriminate when contracting products or services”.
– This new right will benefit all people who have completed cancer treatment five years before the date of signing the contract, without a subsequent relapse.
– Spain, Iceland and Malta are the only countries in the European Union that do not guarantee cancer rights, but the deadline given by the EU to its member countries will be in 2025, as established in a February 2022 resolution of the European Parliament. Full article:

HEALTH

Outrage Over WHO Guidance on “Sexuality for Infants”:
– The World Health Organisation (WHO) is under pressure to withdraw guidance for schools recommending that toddlers “ask questions about sexuality”, “explore gender identities” and learn about “enjoyment” of “early childhood masturbation”. The Telegraph has the story behind a paywall. (https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2023/05/13/outrage-over-who-advice-on-sexuality-for-infants/). Here it is from another source.
– The guidance says that “sexuality education starts from birth” and is described as a “framework for policy makers, educational and health authorities and specialists”.
– Its advice on how to “talk about sexual matters” with young children was aimed at policymakers across Europe, and was translated into several European languages and promoted at national and international events, according to the WHO.
– The document was also cited in a report consulted by Welsh ministers who last year rolled out a mandatory sexual education syllabus to schools in Wales, and has led to a backlash from the Government, MPs and activists.
– The advice proposes that four-to-six year-olds should be taught to “talk about sexual matters” and “consolidate their gender identity”. It recommends that children under the age of four should be told they have “the right to ask questions about sexuality” and “the right to explore gender identities”.
– The WHO guidance also says that children aged four and under should be taught about “enjoyment and pleasure when touching one’s own body, early childhood masturbation”.
– These topics are described as the “minimal standards that need to be covered by sexuality education”. Full article: https://www.globalresearch.ca/outrage-over-who-guidance-sexuality-infants/5819262

PRODUCT ALERT

Imark Mouthwash Warning & Recall: {Translation}
– These mouthwashes are mainly distributed in the hospital channel, but their presence outside this channel cannot be ruled out, according to the AEMPS, so it is communicated that the use of all mouthwashes of the Imark brand in all its formats should be discontinued, both to health centres and professionals as well as to the users of these products.
– The Spanish Agency for Medicines and Health Products (AEMPS) activated the procedure to stop the marketing and use of batch 0100320123 of the cosmetic product ‘Chlorhexidine Mouthwash + Xylitol’ by Imark in Single-dose Format.
– The recall of this product was due to the possible contamination of the batch with the bacterium Burkholderia cepacia, which may pose a risk to people with health problems or weakened immune systems.
– The Regional Ministry of Health and Consumer Affairs explained in a statement that “the manufacturer of the product, Imark-Hospital, has been ordered to take precautionary measures to cease the manufacture, marketing and use of the products, as well as the withdrawal from the market of all units of all Imark brand mouthwashes”. TECH

DoctorLaptop’s Tips #102
Windows 11 is showing a false security alert for many users after a recent update:
– If you have a yellow warning symbol showing on your Windows Security icon in your taskbar (bottom right of screen), this indicates a problem that needs your attention.

– Click it, Windows Security will open. Look for a yellow or red triangle, that will indicate the section with the problem.

– Click that triangle. If you now find yourself in the “Device Security” section, you probably have this false security alert. Look again for the colored triangle, this time it will be very small and yellow. It will appear next to the “Core Isolation” heading near the top. Just below, you will see a clickable link “Core Isolation Details”.

– Click that. This will open the “Core Isolation” section. The first item on that page is called “Memory Integrity”.

If this function is set to OFF, then that is the problem; if all were well this would already be ON. You can try to turn it on, but it most likely won’t allow that. You will get a message about “incompatible drivers”. You can ignore that, it is part of the false alert. This is only a minor security risk for most users, and there is no fix. Microsoft is aware of the problem, and promises to release an update with a fix asap. Windows 11 Info & Bugs:
– I have been using Win 11 for the past 6 months. I like it, and it was an easy transition from Win 10. In practice it is not much different than Win 10, other than that the SETTINGS SECTION has been re-organized. For me, it is as fast, or faster, than Win 10. Computers with only 4Gb of RAM are better off sticking to Win 10 for now.
– The DELETE option has been removed from many menus, and has been replaced by a TRASH basket symbol. Highlighting an item in your File Manager, and then clicking the TRASH basket will move the item to your Recycle Bin.
– They have done the same with the Copy/Paste options as well as the Rename option in many menus. These have been replaced by Copy and Paste and Rename symbols (without the labels I added), see pic.

– Occasionally you will try to close a window, and find there is no button in the upper right of the page to close it with! This is another known bug waiting to be patched. The workaround for now is to place your pointer at the bottom of the screen (exposing the task bar if you keep it hidden). On the taskbar, locate the icon for the program or window you want to close. Hover your pointer over it (do not click it). A small window will pop up with an image of the window you want closed. Slowly bring the pointer to the upper right corner of the small popup window and click the X. That will close the window with the missing close button. It’s easy once you do it a few times.

Cherry Gazpacho, the most refreshing springtime recipe: {Translation}
– With the arrival of May, we enter the season of refreshing foods with intense flavours. One of these is the cherry, a fruit that is consumed for just two months, but which is a real treasure in our kitchens. With its characteristic sweetness, it brings unique flavours to our dishes, totally reconverting them. This is the case of the traditional cherry gazpacho, a dish that combines the traditional flavour of Andalusian gazpacho, but with that special touch given by the fruit.
– The flavour of this recipe will surprise you and will move you towards variations of this fruit, as it is equally versatile in both savoury and sweet dishes. This makes it the perfect starter to surprise your most demanding guests, who will be left with a very good taste in their mouths. It also has a large number of health benefits, as it has important antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that make it an almost therapeutic and medicinal food.
