Feria De La Mula (Mule) 2025- Arenas (Málaga):

Other towns have a “Running of the Bulls”. We have our own tradition– “The Release of the Cows” on Sat, 11 Oct, from 12 noon.
The municipality of Arenas is decked out to celebrate this unique fair, where a wide variety of activities centered around mules can be found, such as exhibitions, blacksmithing, loading competitions, threshing, the art of herding, and the traditional mule, donkey, and horse races.
There are also performances by verdiales groups, dance groups, flamenco singing, and a tasting of “migas arrieras” (muleteers’ breadcrumbs) washed down with Arenas wine. The festival concludes with the election of an honorary muleteer. Video Link

Beware of your bank’s SMS message about a supposed transfer, even if they appear to be sent by your bank– authorities warn of a new scam: {Translation}
– “Use the code to make the transfer of €1,900. If you have not made this transaction, please contact us on the following number.” A text message from our bank asks for two-factor verification to carry out a bank transfer, but alarms are raised because the customer has not made any such transaction. Furthermore, the amount is considerable, which causes even more insecurity. Without hesitation, they call the number provided to stop the operation. And that’s where the scam begins.
– In reality, it’s part of a new ‘smishing’ campaign – fraudulent SMS messages designed to impersonate banks in order to trick customers into calling a fake customer service number, with the aim of completing the scam by persuading them to transfer funds to a false backup account. This was flagged today by the National Cybersecurity Institute (INCIBE), which has received reports from several customers who have received these messages.

Fakebook Scam Tricking Elderly with False AI-Generated Facebook Travel Events on Android & Apple Devices:
– Cybersecurity researchers have flagged a previously undocumented Android banking trojan called Datzbro that can conduct device takeover (DTO) attacks and perform fraudulent transactions by preying on the elderly.
– Dutch mobile security company ThreatFabric said it discovered the campaign after users in Australia reported scammers managing Facebook groups promoting “active senior trips.”
– The campaigns specifically focused on elderly people looking for social activities, trips, in-person meetings, and similar events. These Facebook groups have been found to share artificial intelligence (AI)-generated content, claiming to organize various activities for seniors. Should prospective targets express willingness to participate in these events, they are subsequently approached via Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp, where they are asked to download an APK file from a fraudulent link (e.g., “download.seniorgroupapps[.]com”).
– “The fake websites prompted visitors to install a so-called ‘community application’, claiming it would allow them to register for events, connect with members, and track scheduled activities,” ThreatFabric said.
– Interestingly, the rogue websites have also been found to contain links to download an iOS application, indicating that the attackers are looking to target both Android and Apple.

Kenya Presentations:
Dr Leo Wouters, who lives in Competa, invites you to a presentation on how small changes can make a big difference to the lives of local people in Kenya.
The presentations are being held in Competa and Sayalonga. Dr Wouters works with the Belgian Olympic team long distance athletes and has spent many years with the athletes in Kenya on their altitude training.
This is what gave him the idea to try to improve the lives of the local people, first by providing free medical treatment, but then he went on to get more involved and he set up his charity ‘Durable Sustainable Initiatives Kenya’.
Dr Leo Wouters and his Chief Officer Maurine will be telling people about their project in Kenya. The presentation is about this work and how small changes can make a big difference. The charity has been running for 1.5 years now and massive changes have begun.

Microsoft Caves In To The Pressure- Offers Europeans Free Windows 10 Security Updates until Oct. 13, 2026, but only if you have an active MS account:
– Microsoft has confirmed that it is making access to Windows 10’s extended support updates (ESU) program completely free for an additional year, until October 14, 2026, for regions in the European Economic Area (EEA). This change means users will no longer be required to sync their PC settings to the cloud via a Microsoft account for free access to extended security updates throughout the next 12 months. But you will still need to enroll in the ESU with a Microsoft account.
– If you log-in to your computer with a “local account”, as me and many security conscious users do, to avoid having a Micrsoft account, then this free extension is not available for you. A Microsoft account is required for any of the extension methods, free or paid.
– In summary: For users in the EEA who log-in with a Microsoft account when using their computer, Microsoft is essentially extending Windows 10’s security updates by a year. It seems the user will still need to enroll into extended security updates, which will require the user to authenticate with a Microsoft account once every 60 days, but it will no longer require the user to sync their PC settings to the cloud or pay €30.
– If a device does not connect within that time to its Microsoft account, extended updates will stop.
– Microsoft has not said how it will deal with Win 10 users in the EEA who have already paid the €30 extension fee.
– Solution of last resort: Consider installing the third-party “0patch” app to deal with any security issues that aren’t addressed by Microsoft. – Rules in place prohibiting some discussion of COVID-19 and the election were lifted in 2023 or 2024, Google said through its lawyers. “Today, YouTube’s Community Guidelines allow for a wider range of content regarding COVID-19 and elections integrity,” it stated. “Reflecting the Company’s commitment to free expression, YouTube will provide an opportunity for all creators to re-join the platform if the Company terminated their channels for repeated violations of COVID-19 and elections integrity policies that are no longer in effect.” People whose channels were suspended or taken down included Dan Bongino, the current deputy director of the FBI.

Temporary contracts (35h/week) of 2 to 8 months between March and October 2026. Availability mandatory in July and August. Permanent contracts available from December 2025.
Some candidates may receive a contract offer on the same day.
