Vaping becomes more expensive in Spain- the tax that comes into force this April: {Translation, summary}

The PP presses Sánchez to present budgets with motions in Congress and the Senate: {Translation}
– The PP is going to go a step further. After months of criticizing the lack of General State Budgets, it has taken advantage of the 27th Interparliamentary that is being held this weekend in Seville to announce that it will present initiatives in Congress and the Senate pressuring Pedro Sánchez to present a draft budget. This was announced by the spokespersons in both chambers during the table they shared with Dolors Montserrat this Saturday afternoon.
– Alicia García {pic}, spokeswoman in the Senate, has said that Pedro Sánchez and María Jesús Montero are “in constitutional rebellion” so she is going to promote a motion in the Senate to force him to present the General State Budgets. – The spokeswoman of the PP in the European Parliament, Dolors Montserrat has described Pedro Sánchez as “a straw man- a fugitive from justice, a man of the radicals and of a Government in decomposition”, while he has censured his lack of involvement for the European Union to fight against the closure of the Southern Border, “he has not asked Frontex and is a silent accomplice of the mafias that traffic in the human drama of immigration and Europe is the great shield to fight for the closure of the Southern Border”. “This makes him more dangerous in his flight forward, dynamiting all the institutions and even his own party if he is going to be one more day in La Moncloa. It is not time for presidents who hesitate,” said the popular spokeswoman.
– “We are not going to stand still before the veto of the Government of Spain and the Presidency and the Bureau of Congress to the Senate as a chamber,” said Gamarra in his speech in the interparliamentary. Malaga Weather This Week:
– Instability will remain at least until next Saturday. Aemet warns that the Atlantic squalls arrive again, especially the second half of the week in Andalusia. The atmospheric situation could change from Tuesday, although rainfall will be more intense on Thursday and Friday.
– The probability that Malaga will again receive rain will increase to 95% on those two days and will reach 100% in areas of the western part as Marbella. Armed Robberies At Open Public Businesses In Malaga Becoming More Common: {Translation}
– Second robbery at gunpoint on the same street in Puerto de la Torre {pic} in just ten days. First it was in a post office and, now, in a dental clinic, when an individual dressed in black and with his face practically covered burst into the establishment demanding the takings.
– It was already past eight o’clock in the evening two Fridays ago when the emergency services received a warning of an alleged robbery in a dental clinic on Lope de Rueda Street. A patrol of local agents who were in the area went to the scene. According to what the police could find out, a hooded individual dressed in black had allegedly burst into the premises and had threatened one of the workers at gunpoint to get her to give him the money from the cash register, which was around 700 euros. The suspect then allegedly fled the clinic on foot. Although the local agents alerted the other units and conducted raids, it was not possible to locate him, municipal sources have informed SUR.
– Ten days earlier, a man with a balaclava allegedly also broke into a post office located on the same street and pointed a gun at a branch worker. According to the sources, the robber would have taken advantage of a moment when there were no customers inside to break into the branch, where two professionals were. Trump loses patience with Putin and threatens new Russian oil tariffs- with serious implications for the EU:
– President Donald Trump has lost patience and is now threatening to punish Russia with new oil tariffs. Aside from the relentless attacks, including with suicide drones, Trump has criticized that, in the midst of a three-way negotiation, Putin has proposed a change of government in Ukraine to facilitate the annexation of occupied territories. Trump said Sunday in an interview with NBC, “If I feel – if we’re in the middle of a negotiation – you could say I was very angry, very upset, when Putin said yesterday that… you know, when he started questioning Zelenski’s credibility, because that’s not going in the right direction.”

Myanmar earthquake update- At least 1,700 people killed as Myanmar faces humanitarian crisis; death toll in Bangkok increases to 18:
– About 1,700 people have died as a result of the Myanmar earthquake with at least 300 people having been reported missing, according to the country’s ruling junta (the military government). About 3,400 are injured, according to officials, with the death toll expected to rise significantly.
– The Red Cross said the devastation is the worst seen in Asia in more than 100 years.
– The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported that a 5.1 magnitude aftershock hit 28km (17.4 miles) northwest of the central Myanmar city of Mandalay earlier today, the latest in a string of aftershocks.
– The initial 7.7 magnitude quake struck near Mandalay early on Friday afternoon, followed minutes later by a 6.7-magnitude aftershock.

Work is being carried out to check the pipes of La Viñuela in the Axarquía and to clear sediment:

– The latest storm to hit Malaga province last weekend, Martinho, has left a significant white blanket on the highest peaks of the Axarquía and the Sierra de las Nieves mountains. The fourth high-impact atmospheric depression to reach the province so far in March has caused temperatures to plummet and left abundant snow on peaks over 1,400 metres above sea level.

The Drums Of War Get Louder- Brussels is asking us to prepare emergency kits in case of war or disaster, say citizens need a “change of mentality”: {Translation}
– The European Commission is urging EU citizens to prepare for the unthinkable. Through the Union’s new Preparedness Strategy, Brussels recommends that all European households should have an emergency kit that allows them to survive for at least 72 hours without outside help. The goal: to face possible scenarios such as wars, cyber-attacks, pandemics or natural disasters resulting from climate change.
– “We must prepare for large-scale cross-sectoral incidents and crises, including the possibility of armed aggression, affecting one or more member states,” states the draft document, to which El País has had access. – Two of the products are made in Antequera and another in Coín and have been selected from nearly 900 candidates from all over Spain. The winners will be announced on April 7 during a gala to be held in Madrid. The awards have 20 categories and five finalists in each of them.
– In the category of young goat with pasteurized milk, the Zurrón blanco de cabra, produced by Cabraline in Antequera, has made it to the final.

Andalusia intensifies measures against measles after 30 cases in Malaga: {Translation, summary}

With WhatsApp’s new blue circle icon users can now message Meta’s AI chatbot, the latest AI privacy threat:
– Mark Zuckerberg has boldly claimed that Meta’s AI assistant is on track to become the world’s leading artificial intelligence, after attracting nearly 500 million users. However, some WhatsApp members say the reality doesn’t match the hype.
– Since the chatbot’s rollout across Meta’s platforms (Instagram, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp) in the US, and more recently in the UK, users have been scrambling to disable the AI. Others are worried about their data being hoovered up, given Meta’s contentious history of tracking user activity to create targeted adverts (and its privacy failings), while some have encountered app-crashing bugs.
– Here’s everything you need to know about Meta AI, including its availability, settings, data-sharing policy and user reaction.
***What is Meta AI?***

– In the latest twist to the sorry saga, some WhatsApp users in Italy claim the AI update is crashing the app.
***Can Meta AI access your messages?***
– No, Meta AI cannot access your private messages, such as those on WhatsApp or Messenger, to train its AI models. While Meta uses publicly shared content from Facebook and Instagram to improve its AI (from your profile pic to comments left on public groups), private posts (including messages with friends and family) are excluded. {This is a lie. Your data is scanned by them, then shared with their business partners, who share it with their data-service providers. EU Child Protection Data Laws require social media & messenger services to scan all messages searching for illegal content, what else they collect at that time, where they store that data and who they share it with is up for debate. But clearly they already have access to your message content the instant you send it. -Ed.}
– However, Meta uses your interactions with AI features — such as searching for stickers or chatting with AI characters — to improve its products. For example, if you mention your love for Italian food in an AI chat, that detail can be saved to improve future recommendations.
– The company says it will only use the data from users aged 18 and over. {In effect admitting they correlate your profile info with your message content- which they then bundle with other info to share with their business partners, who share it with their data-service providers. Yet they lie and say your data is secure. Now they want to add more info about you, that MetaAI collects from you, adding it to all the other stuff they have on you. ***How to delete your Meta AI chat history***
– If that doesn’t sit well with you, you can delete or reset your AI chats. For individual chats, type /reset-ai to delete the AI’s memory of that conversation.
– To clear all chats on an app (Messenger, Instagram, or WhatsApp), type /reset-all-ais.
– On WhatsApp, if you delete a chat, it will be removed from only your app. However, you’ll need to use the reset command to delete it from Meta’s systems.
– Additionally, you can download your chat history by typing /download-all-ai-info in an AI chat.
– Remember that if you delete a chat or your WhatsApp account, you won’t be able to request or download that information again.

No Matter how long you have been using these apps, you might have noticed a new character popping up on your screen, answering unnecessary questions you might not want to ask and continuously offering information that is not your concern in your news feed. This new character, Meta AI, varies with every person’s usage. If you want to turn off this feature and are not a fan of AI, read this article till the end.
– Mark Zuckerberg is proud of this feature and thinks it is the most intelligent AI assistant social media users can use freely. This might seem very interesting to hear, but some social media users find it a very intrusive and forced feature.
– Is it Possible to Turn off Meta AI? It might initially disappoint you, but there is no proper way to turn off Meta AI. Whenever you use Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp, you cannot restrict or disable the chat from appearing at the top right corner of your screen. Also, ignoring this feature is not a solution either. You will be provided with AI suggestions.
– Surprisingly, the meta AI has the potential to pop up in your feed randomly. That’s not all; the messenger app from Facebook has an entire tab that works for Meta AI. This makes the users feel it is a forced feature that has been added without their consent.
– How Can You Mute Meta AI Chats? First, it is advised to avoid chatting with Meta AI. But if your intention was to search for something and you accidentally got into a chat, you will start getting notifications from the chat as if someone is talking to you even if you don’t want to. You may find these notifications bothersome and wish to disable them right away. You cannot disable them. However, you can mute them from Instagram, WhatsApp, and Facebook. This process will not remove the chat bot altogether, but you will stop getting the notifications. If you want to learn the process, then here’s how you can do that.

– The Drought Commission of the hydrographic demarcation of the Andalusian Mediterranean Basins, which was held this Tuesday, has unanimously agreed to generally relax the saving measures in almost all its operating systems, both for urban water consumption and for agricultural irrigation, as a result of the significant improvement in the volumes stored after the rains of recent weeks.
– Currently, as detailed by the Andalusian Executive in a note, the volume of water stored in the reservoirs of the exploitation systems of the hydrographic demarcation of the Andalusian Mediterranean Basins amounts to 597.95 hm3, which represents 51.86 percent of the total capacity and 128.90 percent more than the volume of water stored on the same date last year (261.23 hm3).
– Thus, it has been approved to modify the measures adopted in the extraordinary commission held last December.
– In the Western Costa del Sol system, also in a normal situation and which does not have agricultural use, the maximum allocation for supply is increased from 225 to 250 liters per inhabitant per day.
– In the Guadalhorce-Limonero system (Malaga), in a pre-alert situation, the maximum allocation is increased from 200 liters per inhabitant per day to 225, while, in agricultural use, the irrigation volume is increased from nine to 30 hm3.
– In the Viñuela-Axarquia system, in an alert situation, but very close to pre-alert, it is increased from 200 to 225 liters per inhabitant per day for urban use and in agricultural use, the irrigation volume is increased from three to 12.8 Hm3 (2,000 m3 per hectare per month). Priest hospitalized after being assaulted in the head in a Malaga square: {Translation}

This Is Why I Refuse To Use Banks: In my case I was blocked from making any withdrawals from my savings account with €2200 in it for 8 months. No explanation, all I was told is the account was blocked and I would receive a letter that never arrived. Eventually had to pay a lawyer €600 to get my money back, no apology and no reimbursement for the lawyer fee. If you listen to the very beginning you will hear the name of the bank mentioned, Santander Bank. Seems like most people have a bank horror story. Episodes just like what you see in the video happen every day in Spain. I know of businesses that this has happened to as well. Imagine the restrictions they will put on your transfers and spending when they force the digital-Euro on us and take away the cash. Not only will they control your spending, there can be geo-restrictions, so you can only spend in your “15 Minute Cities” without advance authorization. – The festival ‘La Liebre de Marzo’ (The March Hare) returns to bring sacred and ancient music to emblematic places of the Axarquia. The eleventh edition of the festival will be held on Saturdays, 22 and 29 March with the Malaga Baroque Orchestra, the Con Fuoco Quartet, the Spinto Quartet and the Maestro Iribarren Music Chapel.
– All concerts will start at 12.30 p.m. and will be free admission until full capacity is reached.
– Cómpeta: 22 March. The Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción in Cómpeta will host the concert of Cuartero Spinto, formed by violinists Juan Jesús Navarro and Caridad Martos, violist Olga López and cellist Cristóbal Prieto.
– Periana: 29 March. The series will end on March 29 at the Church of San Isidro Labrador in Periana with the Capilla de Música Maestro Iribarren, a group named after Juan Francés de Iribarren, who was Chapel Master of the Cathedral of Malaga from 1733 until his death.

Does anyone in the Nerja/Frigiliana area know of the whereabouts of the above gentleman?
He is a well-known local figure who with his late wife Olivia ran the La Noria restaurant for many years.

Aemet warns of the entrance of a new storm in Malaga from Thursday: {Translation}

National Police warn of new fraud as false summons notifications received around Spain:
– “Dear citizen, you are formally notified to report to the central department of the National Police in connection with the file…” So begins the email that has been sent en masse to thousands of addresses in recent days. The sender is the domain @policia (fiscaliageneral @ policia.es or other similar usernames) and the subject line is ‘Notificación oficial’ (official notification) followed by a long ‘expediente’ case file number. Enough to make anyone wonder whether the mail is real or not. It is not, it is a new fraudulent campaign, but unlike other scams, in this case there are no spelling mistakes or bad wording, which gives the text an air of credibility.
– The email does not detail the reason why the citizen has the supposed file open and it is precisely this curiosity that invites you to click on the attached link: “To access the complete documentation, click on the following secure link.” The link leads to a download file with malicious content and it is the National Police force itself that has warned that this is a massive phishing campaign. “Do not click on the link, because it could infect your computer: do not provide data and delete it,” insist the police.

It would mean a cross-subsidy in favor of their profit and loss account at the expense of the resources of all citizens. However, it seems clear that, as the information published by ABC reveals, among the 25 percent of the population who have some kind of private insurance, abuses occur and doctors are forced to provide insufficient or mediocre practice.
– Private healthcare is a sector whose existence is systematically under attack from a part of Spanish politics that believes that it should disappear (as the case of the Minister of Health herself) or that it should play a residual role (her partner, Sánchez’s PSOE). – The Agricultural Association of Young Farmers, Asaja, in Malaga, warns of the risk to farmers and ranchers by the legislation on public utility in photovoltaic parks. MALAGA PROVINCE

Rainfall and storms change reservoir order in Malaga province:
– The ranking of the reservoirs with the highest water contents in Malaga province has been turned upside down.
***La Concepción & Conde de Guadalhorce***
– Since April 2024 and until last week, the La Concepción reservoir, located between Marbella and Istán, was making history, storing the highest amount of water despite being the smallest one in the province. However, it has been releasing 60 cubic metres per second since Friday 7 March, when it reached 48 million cubic metres. At the moment, it is fourth in the ranking.
– Another ‘small’ reservoir, the Conde de Guadalhorce, supplied by the Turón river, is currently leading the ranking. Recent downpours have caused the rise in the river’s levels and, therefore, in the dam, even though the Conde is also releasing water to keep its curve flattened. The goal is to ensure the structure’s safety by manually controlling the inflows and preventing overfilling. The Conde de Guadalhorce currently stores more than 61 million cubic metres, which is 93% of its capacity. Its historical minimum was in November 2023.

Malaga records highest inflation in Spain in February:
– Malaga and Guipúzcoa (the Basque Country) are the two provinces that recorded the highest increase in prices in Spain during February, according to data published by the national institute of statistics (INE). Police find the body of Paco, the missing elderly man in Almogía:
