Can you believe it? Another year draws to an end, and so it is once again time for the DigameXtra Holiday Fundraiser. The idea is to collect enough donations in this next 8 weeks to recover my 2025 expenses. That allows me to publish daily issues for the following 10 months free from any donation request nags. I hate asking, and no one likes being asked, so please give generously and in 8 weeks we can be done with this for another year. -Naythan. ANNUAL HOLIDAY FUNDRAISER
I can only produce DigameXtra with the financial support of my readers. Once a year, during the year end holidays, I do an 8 week fundraiser to help pay production expenses throughout the whole year. This year’s goal is to receive donations from 4% of subscribers. This “4% Club” finances DigameXtra for the 96% group that don’t donate. Which group will you belong to? The generosity of the 4% Club members is greatly appreciated.
Just like your morning coffee,

– Holiday Donation Info, 2 Methods –
DigameXtra subscribers must donate at least €20 (39 cents per week) to gain annual submission posting privileges.
#1. You may drop cash donations off in person and say hello, by appointment, or place them in my mailbox beside my door anytime. Please be sure to include your name on the envelope so I can put you on the list of subscribers with submission posting privileges for 2025-2026! Due to health reasons, unannounced drop-ins are inconvenient for me. But if I am expecting you, no problem! My mailbox has the name HARRIS on it. Email me for map and directions. Cash donations are strongly preferred.
#2. Alternatively, you may send me an Amazon ES (Spain) “eGift card” by email. You need to have an Amazon.es account. The only info you need is my email address and your name (the sender’s name). Remember, this is an “eGift card” you buy that Amazon.es emails directly to me, don’t buy a plain “gift card”. Use the link provided below to access the “eGift card” purchase page.
PLEASE DO NOT SEND AMAZON UK eGIFT CARDS. NO BANK TRANSFERS OR PAYMENT APPS.
Here is the Amazon.es eGift Card Link, (NOTE: YOU CAN CHOOSE ANY AMOUNT YOU LIKE ON THE FORM, THE DEFAULT IS €60):

On the eGift card purchase form, enter the DigameXtra email as the recipient, as shown below in Spanish and with English translation.
Para/For : digamextra@protonmail.com
Please do not ask me about gaining posting privileges by making small donations of under €20, several times a year. Several people promised to do that for each of the last two annual fundraisers, and not a single one followed up.

Association of prosecutors accuses Sánchez of “pressuring and delegitimising” courts after declaring García Ortiz innocent: {Translation, summary}
– The Association of Prosecutors (AF) has criticised Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez for allegedly interfering in the judiciary, claiming he is “pressuring, delegitimising and usurping the functions of the courts”. The statement followed Sánchez’s interview in El País, in which he described Attorney General Álvaro García Ortiz {pic} as “innocent”, a judgement the AF insists only the Supreme Court can make. The organisation stressed that attempting to usurp judicial functions contradicts constitutional principles and undermines the rule of law. It called on the Prime Minister and the institutions he represents to act with neutrality and for citizens’ rights to be respected.
– Meanwhile, García Ortiz is midway through his Supreme Court trial for an alleged leak against Alberto González Amador, the partner of Madrid President Isabel Díaz Ayuso. Early hearings have largely favoured García Ortiz, although the complainant accused Ortiz of having “publicly destroyed him”. Feijóo charges against Sánchez and his judicial “interference” in ‘El País’, unprecedented “in 50 years of democracy”: {Translation, summary}
– Pedro Sánchez’s defence of Álvaro García Ortiz’s innocence in El País has drawn sharp criticism from opposition leader Alberto Núñez Feijóo {pic}, who accused the Prime Minister of interfering with the Supreme Court and undermining judicial independence. Feijóo described this as unprecedented in 50 years of democracy and a sign of Sánchez’s lack of ethics and responsibility. He argued the Government is paralysed by corruption and parliamentary deadlock yet refuses elections, fearing defeat. Laws stall while corruption persists. Feijóo condemned the ruling party as a de facto criminal organisation, asserting that the Socialists are finished. For Feijóo, “this Government is no longer a majority, nor progressive, nor social, nor anything, and it is only a waste of time and a gigantic mockery of our country”, asserting that “today there is a higher probability that Congress will approve PP laws than laws proposed by the Government of Spain”. Andalusia denounces that the Government’s electricity planning ignores 77% of its proposals: {Translation, summary}
– Andalusia has criticised Spain’s Ministry of Ecological Transition for its 2025-2030 electricity network investment plan, which it says largely ignores the region’s requests to support new industries and infrastructure. The technical analysis by Andalusia’s Ministry of Industry, Energy and Mines notes that the region is allocated only 11.8 per cent of €8,130 million, far below proportional criteria for population, area or electricity consumption.
– Only 23 per cent of Andalusia’s proposed actions are addressed, with 60 per cent of investments focusing on system-wide deficiencies rather than regional industrial needs. Córdoba, Cádiz and Málaga are the worst affected, while some historic needs in Jaén, Granada and Huelva have been partially addressed with costly alternatives. The proposal arrives over a year and a half late, covering only 25 of 111 requested infrastructures. Andalusia plans to submit objections by 16 December 2025, arguing the plan disadvantages the region and limits its industrial, energy and socioeconomic growth. MALAGA PROVINCE
The week will start off hot and end with rain in Málaga: {Translation, summary}
– Málaga will experience an unusually warm November week, with temperatures from Monday to Thursday reaching between 24C and 26C, about six degrees above normal. Meteorologist Jesús Riesco explains that the rise is due to a warm subtropical air mass moving north, not the local terral wind. From Friday onwards, an Atlantic depression is expected to bring rain, lasting into the weekend and possibly the start of next week. The arrival of this weather front will also cause a sharp drop in temperatures to around 20C.
– Although it is too early to predict rainfall amounts, the showers in Málaga province are expected to be moderate, while western Andalucia is more likely to see heavy downpours. This rapid change from spring-like warmth to cooler, wetter conditions is likely to increase the risk of seasonal colds and flu. Inland towns such as Antequera will follow a similar pattern, with temperatures peaking midweek before falling sharply. NERJA
A key step to promote 964 homes, of which 386 would be subsidized housing, next to the natural park and the Nerja Cave: {Translation, summary}
– Nerja Town Hall has revived the long-stalled urban project at the Barranco de la Coladilla, originally blocked by the Junta de Andalucía in 2006. After a Supreme Court ruling in 2014 upheld the Council’s rights, the plan was reactivated in early 2025, with major changes removing the golf course and hotels. The revised plan covers half the original area and includes 964 new homes, 386 of them subsidised, plus land for schools, sports, roads and parks.
– Opposition parties IU and PSOE argue it threatens the Nerja Cave and nearby natural park, criticising it as unsustainable and overly ambitious. The PP-led council insists it follows environmental guidelines and affects no protected land.
– The project spans 464,000 square metres, with investment estimated at 87 million euros and a forecast profit of about 11 million. Administrative procedures could take seven years, and construction another five, meaning full completion would take more than a decade. Goodbye to the Cafeteria Cavana after more than half a century in the heart of Nerja: {Translation, summary}
– Cavana Café, an emblematic meeting place in central Nerja, has closed after more than fifty years of history. Opened in May 1973 as “Cavana Snack-Bar”, it quickly became a social and cultural landmark, located in Plaza Cavana near the Balcón de Europa. Owned by the Pérez Bueno family, it hosted chess tournaments, art and photography exhibitions, and served as a venue for cultural life in the 1970s.
– Notable patrons included journalist Pablo de Irazazabal, sculptor Aurelio Teno, and writer Juan Madrid, who wrote scripts for Brigada Central there. The café also appeared in the classic television series Verano Azul and was used for casting extras. Its closure marks the end of an era for Nerja’s residents and visitors, as investors plan to fully restore the historic building. For decades, Cavana’s terrace and bar were a symbol of community life in the town’s historic centre. ALGARROBO
A fire in a house in Algarrobo-Costa causes a great scare among the neighbours: {Translation}
– A fire broke out on the terrace of a home on Miguel Ariza Street in the Mezquitilla neighbourhood of Algarrobo-Costa on Sunday at around 18:00, disrupting the calm of the afternoon and alarming local residents. Firefighters from the Provincial Consortium, the Guardia Civil, local police and medical services were quickly dispatched following a 112 Andalucía call. The blaze affected the property with smoke, but evacuation was not required. Several residents went outside due to the thick smoke, and a 73-year-old woman was treated on-site without needing hospital care. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, and no injuries were reported. Material damage was confined to the home, while the prompt response of emergency services prevented more serious consequences. Although the incident appeared dramatic, it ultimately ended as a serious scare rather than a disaster, demonstrating the effectiveness of rapid intervention at the site. BBC bosses resign amid fury over fake news Trump documentary edit: {Summary}
– BBC Director General Tim Davie and BBC News CEO Deborah Turness resigned on Sunday following intense criticism over the broadcaster’s handling of a documentary on US President Donald Trump. The controversy centres on the video editing of Trump’s January 6, 2021, speech, in which BBC’s Panorama removed sections showing he urged supporters to demonstrate peacefully, instead presenting edited footage in a manipulated way falsely suggesting he encouraged the Capitol riots. A leaked dossier by a BBC standards advisor described the edits as “completely misleading” and highlighted “serious and systemic problems” with the BBC’s impartiality.
– The resignations come amid broader scrutiny of the BBC, including accusations of bias in reporting the Israel-Hamas conflict, child abuse scandals, and allegations of bullying and sexual assault against prominent presenters. Davie acknowledged the debate over BBC News had influenced his decision, taking ultimate responsibility, while Turness defended the organisation’s integrity but accepted accountability for editorial misjudgements. – A political and medical profile with experience in public management. This is the new Deputy Minister of Health, appointed on Monday by the Government Council at the proposal of Health Minister Antonio Sanz, who continues to make changes at the top of the SAS.
– Nicolás Navarro Díaz {pic} has been appointed Deputy Minister of Health by the Andalusian Government to lead structural reforms at the SAS, following the breast cancer screening crisis. Born in 1980 in Motril, he is a qualified physician, specialising in Family and Community Medicine, with advanced training in emergencies and medical management. He has served as Head of Emergencies at HLA Inmaculada University Hospital and at the University Hospital of Poniente, previously working at the Sierra Nevada High Performance Centre.
– Navarro Díaz has been on leave from the public health system while combining his public offices with private healthcare management. Politically experienced, he has served as First Deputy Mayor of Motril, councillor since 2007, and First Vice President and Deputy Delegate for Presidency and Strategic Projects at Granada Provincial Council. Free dental check-ups for under-16s, the SAS starts calling to make the first appointments: {Translation, summary}
– The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) has begun an active patient outreach campaign, calling families to offer free dental check-ups for children at Primary Care centres. In its first phase, it targets six-year-olds, followed by twelve-year-olds.
– The initiative is part of the Andalusian Dental Service Optimisation Plan, which aims to expand and modernise public dental care for children aged 0 to 15. With 28 million euros invested, Andalucía now has 237 dental surgeries and 247 dentists across the region. Each clinic includes a dentist and a nursing assistant, with new teams and hospital dentists recently added. The campaign forms part of the broader Comprehensive Oral Health Plan, prioritising key age groups (2–3, 6 and 12 years) and involving paediatric and school health professionals to encourage annual dental visits. Families may also book appointments directly through the Salud Responde app, helpline or other online platforms.
– Regardless of this announced campaign, since June families have been able to make an appointment with their regular dentist for children aged 0 to 15 years through the usual external channels: the Salud Responde app and helpline (955 54 50 60), ClicSalud+, and the Salud Andalucía app. Source, Spanish: https://www.diariosur.es/andalucia/revisiones-dentales-gratuitas-sas-empieza-llamar-concertar-20251107001721-nt_amp.html

– The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has warned this Friday of the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in a batch of ‘Chopped lata fine slices’ from the brand Nuestra Alacena, sold at Dia supermarkets, following a notification from the health authorities of Andalucía. Christmas bonus for pensioners– when will banks pay it out?: {Translation, summary}
– Spanish pensioners will soon receive their second annual extra payment, traditionally made in December alongside their regular pension. Although Social Security officially pays pensions between the 1st and 4th of each month, most banks advance the payments so clients receive them earlier. – This year, Bankinter and Unicaja Banco customers will be first, with deposits expected on Friday, 21 November. CaixaBank and Banco Santander will follow on Monday, 24 November, and BBVA, Banco Sabadell, Abanca, ING, Ibercaja, and Laboral Kutxa on Tuesday, 25 November. PiBank customers will receive theirs on 1 December.
– In Spain, most pensioners receive 14 payments yearly: twelve regular monthly ones and two extra instalments in June and November. However, those receiving pensions for workplace accidents or occupational diseases are excluded, as their annual amount is divided across twelve months. The early disbursement offers pensioners added financial flexibility before the festive season. The Provincial Council of Malaga will allocate 8 million to rehabilitate churches in small municipalities: {Translation, summary}:
– The Málaga Provincial Council will include in its next budget a new eight-million-euro plan to restore churches in towns and villages with fewer than 20,000 inhabitants. Spread across 2026 and 2027, the plan follows requests from local mayors and aims to repair towers, roofs, and damp problems in historic temples.
– President Francisco Salado said the initiative will be developed in partnership with the diocese through a joint technical committee. He highlighted the importance of churches as artistic, cultural, and social landmarks that also help prevent depopulation. The programme will fund three million euros in 2026 and five million in 2027. Salado emphasised that preserving these buildings maintains local identity, generates employment, and strengthens tourism. The project complements the Provincial Council’s contribution of 3.5 million euros to the new roof of Málaga Cathedral, which will resolve leaks and provide a new space for exhibitions and events.
