Diesel prices soar in September, overturning the government’s additional discount increase, “It’s an unprecedented price hike”: {Trans, summary}
– The price of gasoline, which directly influences the overall inflation of the economy and, therefore, the rise in the cost of living for Spanish households, has skyrocketed so far in September to the point of nullifying the Government’s tax cuts.
– The latest data published by the Hydrocarbons Geoportal of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge (MITECO) shows that diesel in Spain cost an average of €1.783 per litre on September 1st, and that this past Tuesday, the 15th, it reached €1.893 per litre. This nulifies the 10-cent per litre increase applied by the Government to the August discount, which was also 10 cents. In total, diesel currently has a 20-cent per litre discount since the beginning of September, yet prices have reached record levels.
– The MITECO website also shows that gasoline was priced at an average of €1.79 per litre at the beginning of the month, and that its current price stands at €1.918 per litre, its highest rate so far this year after an increase of up to 11 cents in just two weeks. Torrox celebrates Tourist Day with a cultural event and a star performance by Juan Magán: {Trans, summary}
– The day will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a guided tour of Torrox’s historic center, limited to 30 participants. Vélez-Málaga reopens its workshops for seniors with 1,500 places: {Trans, summary}

Saudis pound Yemen, Houthis fire at Saudi, critical pipeline disrupted, as Middle East war spreads:
– Saudi warplanes pounded Yemen and Houthi fighters launched drones and missiles at Saudi cities, the Iran-backed movement said on Wednesday, after a lightning advance that has extended Tehran’s reach in the Middle East war. An attack blamed on Iran-aligned fighters in Iraq last week also knocked out Saudi Arabia’s East-West Pipeline, the main route used to divert oil exports from the blockaded Strait of Hormuz.

– Saudi Arabia accused Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi rebels of trying to attack Islam’s holiest city, as the region responded with condemnation Wednesday but no sign of military support. The kingdom, a key US ally, declared Mecca a “red line” as slid deeper into the new front of the Iran war.
– The Houthis denied firing drones toward Mecca, about 1,100 kilometres (680 miles) from Yemen’s border. The Saudis said they intercepted and destroyed the drone before it entered the airspace over the birthplace of the Prophet Mohammed.

He left the company in July to work more effectively on AI security. Another one…Woman arrested for stabbing man to death in Requena (Valencia), adding to this disturbing trend: {Trans, summary}

– Civil Guard officers arrested a 47-year-old woman on Saturday as the suspected perpetrator of a knife attack against a man in the Valencian town of Requena, as confirmed by sources within the Civil Guard to 20minutos. The arrested woman is currently in pretrial detention. The incident occurred around 2:30 p.m. this Saturday inside the home of the 51-year-old victim, located in the aforementioned municipality.
– Sources within the Civil Guard have confirmed that the attack was carried out with a knife and that there was no romantic relationship between the alleged perpetrator and the victim. CEUTA CRISIS
The National Court has temporarily halted the migrant camp at the Port of Ceuta at the request of the SUP (Unified Police Union): {Trans, summary}
– The National Court (AN) has ordered the Government not to implement for the time being the resolution promoted to install a camp in the Port of Ceuta to care for the migrants who arrived in the autonomous city in the mass entry at the end of July.
– The Administrative Court of the National Court informs the Ministry of Transport of the decision that “the resolution or order referred to cannot be executed” until the urgent precautionary measure requested by the Unified Police Union (SUP), which filed an appeal demanding its “immediate suspension”, is resolved.
– In announcing its initiative, the SUP advocated for alternative accommodations that reduce pressure on the city, “such as the temporary use of a hotel ship, as opposed to improvised solutions in locations that may generate new security problems.”
– “We do not question the humanitarian aid. We question the improvised location of this kind without first ensuring all security guarantees,” SUP said in a statement.
– The SUP referred to the fires recorded in different settlements of the autonomous city, understanding that they demonstrate the need to assess beforehand the risks of fire, evacuation and action in an emergency, both for the people housed and the users and workers of the port as well as for the police who will have to intervene. Therefore, SUP demanded the adoption of urgent precautionary measures and the immediate suspension of the installation and operation of the camp until the conditions of port compatibility, protection, emergencies and prevention of occupational risks are proven.

Sánchez’s propaganda machine working overtime– announces that there will be 10,000 places for migrants in Ceuta (reg. pop. 80,000) and praises Morocco’s “intelligence” during the assault; expects “stability” to arrive “at the end of the year”, repeats other false claims: {Trans}
– Pedro Sánchez has once again defended his handling of the migration crisis in Ceuta in a television interview.
– “I wouldn’t say it has been done badly,” he assured on El Intermedio, where he announced that by the end of this week there will be 6,000 places for immigrants and that the goal is to reach “10,000”, far from the 500 that existed at the start of the assault.
– Although he did not want to clarify when normality will return to the autonomous city, the President of the Government has admitted that it is a “complex crisis,” and has indicated that they expect “stability” to arrive “at the end of the year,” coinciding with the date planned for the end of the single command contemplated in the decree.
– Once again, Sánchez has avoided directly pointing to Morocco for its actions during the avalanche of 72,000+ people: “We don’t see so much a passive attitude as an intention to try to manage this multitude in an intelligent way.”
– Sánchez himself has acknowledged, however, that “we could not face the avalanche” and that what they did “was absorb those people and then return them to Morocco.” “The proof is that 9 out of 10 returned,” he concluded. But the numbers don’t add up. If that were the case, it would not be necessary to enable up to 10,000 places. And, as can be inferred from his words, those places are here to stay in anticipation of new arrivals of migrants.
That is why Sánchez spoke of a “structural commitment” and “for the future” in “temporary stay centres.”
– Those numbers also don’t square with his statement that “two hundred people each day are returning” to Morocco voluntarily.
– The head of the Executive has assured that there was collaboration and warnings from the Moroccan authorities, which, in his view, allowed “preparation in the days beforehand” with “a much more active Morocco to control” the situation. {Pedro has lost any connection with reality if he believes this nonsense, the lack of preparation is the exact reason this whole mess developed. -Ed.}
– He has spoken better of the Moroccan services than of the Spanish ones, since he has downplayed the declassified CNI reports that prove it alerted the Government Delegation, and frames it in an intentionally deceptive manner, leaving out critical facts: “In the end, the WhatsApp messages don’t prove that alerts were given,” Sánchez stated, attempting to flip the burden of proof. The declassified CNI reports show the agency did warn the Government Delegation, but Sánchez recast the situation with a deceptive twist, claiming WhatsApps as insufficient evidence of a proper alert, effectively arguing that informal warnings don’t count as warnings at all, while ignoring all the other evidence that warnings were issued. Clearly a propaganda trick.
– “In a serious country like Spain, what is done is to make reports, share them with superiors in order to act,” Sánchez added, maintaining that they should have given him any reports in a “sealed envelope.”
– Regarding the warnings to the Chief of Staff and the 11-minute call with the CNI liaison, in which groups of up to 180,000 people were warned about, Sánchez adds more deception, reducing the matter to “a courtesy warning to just staying alert.”
*The Pegasus Spying*
– The President of the Government has also referred to the spying via Pegasus by Morocco, just when the president of the PNV, Aitor Esteban, has joined the suspicions that Morocco is blackmailing the Government. “These hoaxes about the mobile phone hack, for a Netflix series it would be fine,” Sánchez said – dismissing as fiction the documented fact that his own government had announced in 2022 that his phone and those of his defence and interior ministers had been infected with Pegasus spyware. The government’s own extraordinary press conference confirmed the intrusions, which extracted 2.6 GB of data from Sánchez’s device alone. – The Spanish Interior Ministry returned its first migrant to Morocco on Wednesday following the mass incursion of more than 70,000 people into Ceuta on July 30 and 31. The first repatriation was of a Moroccan man who had entered Ceuta illegally before July 30.
– His case took more than a month to process before the Ministry of the Interior could finalize his return. The return was carried out through the legal procedure established in European migration and asylum regulations. The Moroccan man initially requested international protection after being identified. His request was denied because Morocco is listed as a “safe third country” by the European Union, and he failed to demonstrate vulnerability or risk of persecution.
– The first formal return, however, reveals the slowness of the system deployed by the Government. And the fact that he was an irregular migrant who had arrived in the Spanish city in North Africa before the “attack on territorial integrity” on July 30, corroborates the lack of adequate resources for the situation the city is experiencing, according to the Government of Juan Jesús Vivas.
Sources within the local government believe that the current pace is “incompatible with a crisis that has thousands of people waiting” for their situation to be resolved.
