Malaga City Council stops work on the immigrant centre in Churriana and opens a file on it: {Translation}
– The plans of the Spanish Commission for Refugee Assistance (CEAR) to open a care centre for immigrants in Churriana this June have hit a bump in the road: The Town Planning Commission (Urbanism) has opened a file on the work and is paralysing it while it studies whether the work can continue.
– In an appearance at the request of Vox in the Urbanism Commission, Carmen Casero, councillor for Urbanism, said that last Friday, after a second visit by the infringements technician following complaints from neighbours and police, he confirmed that the work did not correspond, at least not completely, with a responsible declaration, a procedure which had been used.
– Now, after opening a sanction file, he is studying whether the work can be legalised and has asked the promoter to justify what part of it would fit under the figure of a responsible declaration. Arrested for raping two men under chemical submission in Nerja: {Translation, summary}

Scandal in British healthcare: the infection of 30,000 people with HIV and hepatitis C “was not an accident”: {Translation, summary}

Malaga Airport prepares an air taxi service with pilotless drones; “not just for the rich”:
– Can you imagine being able to get from Malaga to Marbella in just 15 minutes aboard a pilotless air taxi? It sounds like Jules Verne science fiction, but in a few years this and many other journeys will be possible thanks to the use of passenger drones. In this futuristic scenario, Malaga airport is at the forefront of the development of new air mobility in Spain.
– For urban travel, 100 per cent electric, vertical takeoff and landing vehicles will be used. It could carry four to six passengers, has a cruising speed of 280 km/h and a range of 250 kilometres. It can reach a height of 3,000 metres. Initially, these aircraft will be manned by a pilot, although in the near future they are expected to become autonomous. The aim, the expert stresses, is to make this new aerial urban mobility accessible, “not just for the rich”.
– Passengers will arrive by plane from London, go to the ‘vertiport’ area and get on a drone that will take them to Granada or Marbella, or to a hotel in the city centre, or their home in the countryside. The flight from Malaga to Marbella will take between 15 and 20 minutes; the journey to Granada will take about 50 minutes.
– The first test operations will be between Malaga and Granada, and the idea is to begin in the second half of 2025.

The “Oh, See! Festival” brings together artists like Dani Fernández, Ninos Mutantes and Ojete Calor in Malaga: {Translation}

– According to the organisers, the festival maintains its daytime spirit on Friday and Saturday at the Cortijo de Torres Municipal Auditorium. An urbanization in Nerja is charged for having its own treatment plant not connected to the grid: {Translation, summary}
– The City Council has received complaints about the odour and noise problems in the area. After a thorough investigation, the Ministry detected that the odours were coming from a small autonomous waste treatment station servicing several housing estates located in the vicinity of the treatment plant, at the eastern end of the town centre.
– The Council has opened a file to the urbanisations Fuente del Badén and Vía Romana Casas Adosadas, which total around 60 properties, due to the existence of these installations which do not comply with the regulations in force, obliging them to connect immediately to the municipal network. To this end, the Town Council notified the residents at the end of last February that, “in view of the police report, it is appropriate to open an enforcement order and proceed to the closure of this installation, especially when, in addition to the inspection carried out by the Administrative Police Unit, the same situation has been communicated by the Ministry of Ecological Transition”.
– This is stated in an administrative resolution that has been notified to these two communities of owners, to which SUR has had access. The document gives them a period of “two months” to carry out the work to connect the sewerage of these properties to the municipal network, in order to proceed with the dismantling of their own sewage treatment plant, which dates back some 40 years, as this newspaper has learnt. Apparently, this is a very basic treatment system, which separates sludge and solids and discharges the waste water directly into a nearby stream
– In this way, according to the decree signed by the Town Planning Department, “in view of the existing distance between the treatment plant at the origin of this case and the municipal sewerage system, it is estimated that the costs of interference amount to 125,000 euros and these works can be carried out in a period not exceeding 20 days, after which time I propose to carry them out with municipal means at the expense of those communities responsible for the installation”. If they fail to do so within the 2 month deadline, it will be the Consistory which will carry them out in a subsidiary manner. However, in the decree notified to the residents, the Consistory warns that “failure to comply with the duties of conservation of land, urbanisations, buildings and installations established in the regional legislation, the LISTA, or in accordance with it, and failure to comply with the enforcement orders, is considered a serious urban planning infringement, and may be punished with a fine of 3,000 to 29,000 euros”. Ex-CDC Director Says It’s High Time To Admit ‘Significant Side Effects’ Of COVID-19 Vaccines:
– Dr. Redfield {pic} made the remarks in a May 16 interview with Chris Cuomo on NewsNation, during which he lamented the loss of public confidence in public health agencies because of a lack of transparency around the vaccines, which he said “saved a lot of lives” but also made some people “quite ill.”
– “Those of us that tried to suggest there may be significant side effects from vaccines … we kind of got canceled because no one wanted to talk about the potential that there was a problem from the vaccines, because they were afraid that that would cause people not to want to get vaccinated,” Dr. Redfield said. “They’re important for the most vulnerable people, those over 60, 65 years of age. They really aren’t that critical for those that are under 50 or younger. But those vaccines saved a lot of lives, but they also – we have to be honest – some people got significant side effects from the vaccine,” he said.

NIH official finally admits taxpayers funded dangerous gain-of-function research in Wuhan after years of denials- they intentionally lied to public:
– At long last, National Institutes of Health (NIH) principal deputy director Lawrence Tabak admitted to Congress Thursday that US taxpayers funded gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China in the months and years before the COVID-19 pandemic.
– “Dr. Tabak,” asked Rep. Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.) of the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, “did NIH fund gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology through [Manhattan-based nonprofit] EcoHealth [Alliance]?” “It depends on your definition of gain-of-function research,” Tabak answered. “If you’re speaking about the generic term, yes, we did.”
– The response comes after more than four years of evasions from federal public health officials – including Tabak himself and former National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director Dr. Anthony Fauci – about the controversial research practice that modifies viruses to make them more infectious.
– Tabak added that “this is research, the generic term [gain-of-function], is research that goes on in many, many labs around the country. It is not regulated. And the reason it’s not regulated is it poses no threat or harm to anybody.”
– Dr. Bryce Nickels, a professor of genetics at Rutgers University and co-founder of the pandemic oversight group Biosafety Now, told The Post the exchange “was two people talking past each other.” “Tabak was engaging in the usual obfuscation and semantic manipulation that is so frustrating and pointless,” Nickels said, adding that the NIH bigwig was resisting accountability for risky research that can create pathogens of pandemic potential. “Instead of addressing this directly, Tabak launched into a useless response about how ‘gain-of-function’ encompasses many types of experiments,” he added. Nickels also slammed Tabak for still claiming the evidence points to SARS-CoV-2 originating in a “wild animal market in Wuhan.” “No credible scientist still believes this. In fact, the wet market theory has even been refuted by the world’s leading coronavirus expert, Ralph Baric, in his testimony from January,” Nickels said.
– EcoHealth Alliance president Dr. Peter Daszak, in a hearing earlier this month before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic, testified that his organization “never has and did not do gain-of-function research, by definition.” But that claim directly contradicted Daszak’s private correspondence, including a 2016 email in which he celebrated the end of an Obama administration pause on gain-of-function research.
– The EcoHealth head was also called out in sworn testimony to the COVID panel by Dr. Ralph Baric, a leading coronavirologist who initiated the research himself and declared it was “absolutely” gain-of-function.
– In an October 2021 letter to Congress, Tabak had acknowledged NIH funded a “limited experiment” at the Wuhan Institute of Virology that tested whether “spike proteins from naturally occurring bat coronaviruses circulating in China were capable of binding to the human ACE2 receptor in a mouse model.” He did not describe it as gain-of-function research, but disclosed that EcoHealth “failed to report” the bat coronaviruses modified with SARS and MERS viruses had been made 10,000 times more infectious, in violation of its grant terms. The NIH scrubbed its website of a longstanding definition for gain-of-function research the same day that the letter was sent.
– Fauci has repeatedly denied that the Wuhan lab research involved gain-of-function experiments, clashing with Republicans in high-profile hearings and “playing semantics” with the term during a closed-door interview with the House COVID panel earlier this year. “He needs to define his definition of gain-of-function research, because as I have through this process in the last three years, read many, many published articles about gain-of-function research, or creation of a chimera, this is a new one,” COVID subcommittee Chairman Brad Wenstrup (R-Ohio) said following Fauci’s grilling in January.
– “It’s pure insanity to continue to delegate responsibly for risk/benefit analysis of research that poses an existential threat to humanity to the scientist that will perform the work and their institutions,” Nickels claimed. “We just had a devastating pandemic likely caused by creation of a [Pathogen with Enhanced Pandemic Potential] in a lab, and yet scientists want the public to trust them that they can police themselves?” he balked. “That’s just total and complete nonsense.”
– Fauci is scheduled to answer questions about the gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab and theories of the origin of the pandemic in a public subcommittee hearing set for June 3.

1st person to receive a pig kidney transplant has died:
– The first person to receive a pig kidney transplant has died just two months after he underwent the groundbreaking procedure. Rick Slayman {pic}, a 62-year-old from Weymouth, Massachusetts, had a genetically modified pig kidney placed in his body as part of a four-hour, pioneering surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital on March 16.
– Slayman had end-stage kidney disease and had previously received a human kidney transplant, which showed signs of failure after a few years. His doctors proposed the experimental pig kidney transplant as Slayman was restarting dialysis and experiencing severe complications. Incompetence, or Worse? The PSOE of Malaga denounces that the Board has left 339 million euros in housing unexecuted: {Translation}
– The PSOE Andalusian MP Alicia Murillo has denounced that the Junta de Andalucía has left a total of 339 million euros in housing in 2023. In a press conference in Torrox together with the PSOE’s Secretary for Social Policies, Mari Nieves Ramírez, she has assured that “with that money at least 2,500 VPO houses could have been built which could have facilitated the access of many families to such an essential asset to form a life project as a house”. Murillo has therefore demanded that Moreno Bonilla’s government “get its act together and work on what is really important, which in this case is housing policy”.
– She also stated that “Pedro Sánchez’s government allocates six times more money to Andalusia for housing than Rajoy’s government, although Moreno Bonilla does not use this money”. – Will that windfall of tens of millions of euros in interest payments on money that should already have been spent be used for the benefit of Andalucians? Or will politicians use that interest money to offset next year’s budget shortfall and then falsely claim they presented a balanced budget, like the Junta attempted to do with the EU recovery funds that first arrived 2 to 3 years ago; that caused the EU to send a commission to investigate and confirm abuses and create a totally new funds disbursement monitoring system? Or perhaps follow Sanchez’s example and spend it on businesses that employ their spouses? – Malicious Android apps masquerading as Google, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Microsoft, Netflix, PayPal, Tumblr, Yahoo and X (formerly Twitter) have been observed to steal users’ credentials from compromised devices. “This malware uses famous Android app icons to mislead users and trick victims into installing the malicious app on their devices,” the SonicWall Capture Labs threat research team said in a recent report.

– The restrictions to save water in the current context of drought in Malaga will be maintained for the time being on the Costa del Sol and Axarquia, with measures aimed at reducing the pressure of the flow and cuts in supply at night, respectively.
– On the Western Costa del Sol, the public company Acosol has indicated that the region will continue with the pressure reduction at night in the drinking water supply networks, and in principle “it will not be modified for the summer”. – A study by the Spanish Alliance for Child Road Safety (AESVI) warns of the danger of child car seats purchased on non-EU internet platforms that do not meet the requirements for child restraint in cars and the lack of customs controls that cause them to enter the European Union.

– The researcher José de Contreras y Saro has presented in the Ateneo de Sevilla a research work according to which the famous writer Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra would have been born in Cordoba and not in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid), information that would reflect findings in a document from 1593 discovered in 1914 by the lawyer and historian Adolfo Rodríguez Jurado but which then did not have the “repercussion” it deserved; and which has been recovered for comparison with many other documents related to two other Miguel de Cervantes of which there is documentary evidence.
– As advanced by the ABC newspaper and explained by José de Contreras y Saro in an interview on Canal Sur Radio, after presenting his study at the Ateneo de Sevilla, “among the nobility it was customary to call the grandchildren after their grandparents”, leading to the fact that “when there were different sons there were grandchildren with the same name as their grandfather and that there were different people with the same first name and surname”.
– In this context, the research presented and advanced by ABC has been aimed at “identifying each of these three Miguel de Cervantes” of which there are documentary traces “and dissecting which document belongs to which one”; to determine which of them was the famous writer, who was finally “born in Cordoba” and not in Alcalá de Henares, according to this work.
– To this end, this study has relied on “studies on graphology” and the comparison of “the signatures of documents, such as the authorisation of Don Quixote” for its printing and other documents, as well as research that shows that there were two Miguel de Cervantes who took part in the battle of Lepanto, with “different dates of captivity and different military service records”; although “official historiography has confused or blurred the story of the two into one”.

– “We have also been able to identify which of the three Miguel de Cervantes married Catalina Salazar y Palacios, or Palacios and Salazar, and lived temporarily in Esquivias. Which of them is buried in Madrid and which of them was the writer”, which would turn out to be the Miguel de Cervantes born in Córdoba because “it is the only one in which in a single document he identifies his age, his place of birth, his trade and his interest in writing comedies and autos”.
– The document in question, as he explained, is dated 1593 and corresponds to the legal proceedings of Tomás Gutiérrez against the sacramental brotherhood of the Cathedral, “because they did not want to admit him and so he filed a lawsuit in which he had to rely on witnesses and documentary evidence that concluded, through a court ruling, in his favour”. One of the pieces of evidence presented by this person in the process is precisely “the testimony of Miguel de Cervantes (the Cordoba-born), which is verified, collated and ratified”. “The sentences may be liked more or less, but they are res judicata”, he said.
SINCE 1914
– The document in question, in detail, was found in 1914 by the lawyer and historian Adolfo Rodríguez Jurado, but then “it did not have the repercussion that was expected, because suddenly there was a cloud that obscured the whole issue”; after which “the document disappeared for more than a hundred years”, in the context of “a great disaster with the historical documentary heritage of Cervantism” as a result of “fires in different parishes” or the Civil War, among other aspects.
– In 1986, as he recalled, the family of the writer Luis Montoto donated his archive to the University of Seville, and it was catalogued for some 33 years, which led to the rescue of this document in 2016. In this sense, this research work has consisted of “studying this content in detail and making it public and also contrasting it with other documents that complement the only truth, that Miguel de Cervantes is Andalusian”. – Europe is finally saying goodbye to single-use plastics – or at least many of them – to remedy the islands of rubbish in the ocean that are making the planet an increasingly uninhabitable place. The largest has 1.6 million square kilometres of rubbish, three times the size of France, according to the Aquae Foundation. One of 7.345 billion euros to pay the minimum supplements (money injected by the state to supplement the pensions of people who do not reach the legal minimum). And a second, of 19,886 million euros, to pay for so-called improper expenses. These transfers are made in accordance with the recommendations of the Toledo Pact, the congressional commission in which the issues surrounding the pension system are debated. In addition, a further 16,917 million must be added to the deficit of the pensions of the Pensioners’ Pension Fund, which is almost entirely financed by the State.
– These funds reduced the resources available to cover other important public needs. After all, this money comes mainly from taxes and is no longer invested in more productive areas such as education or health. Last year, spending on contributory pensions and retirement pensions amounted to 189,094 million euros. In other words, 12.9% of GDP. Beware of WhatsApp scam where criminals can steal your account with a video call: {Translation}

– In this type of scam, cybercriminals use video calls to contact their potential victims and can trick them by claiming to be part of the platform’s technical service. They do not even show themselves on screen, but claim that the victims are suffering from a technical problem that they will help them to solve. After this, they ask the person to share their screen by pressing the button to do so, claiming that they want to fix the problem and that this way it is easier and quicker to guide the victim through the process.
– However, by doing this, the criminal will be able to see everything that appears on the victim’s screen, which they use to start the process of transferring a WhatsApp account from one phone to another. To complete this process, the application sends an SMS with a code that must be entered on the second device in order to be able to switch devices.
