Regional rebellion against the PSOE’s privileges for Catalonia with regard to immigration and funding: {Translation, summary}
– Eleven autonomous communities oppose the Government’s Royal Decree to transfer 3,000 migrant minors from the Canary Islands and Ceuta, arguing that it is imposed to serve Pedro Sánchez’s independentist allies. Most, led by the Popular Party, claim their reception centres are near capacity and cannot provide dignified care, requiring 400 million euros, while the Government offers only 100 million for transfers and initial support.
– Madrid and the Balearics have announced legal challenges, with Madrid taking the decree to the Supreme Court and Balearics seeking suspension. Andalusia, at 95% capacity, will receive nearly 700 minors, with President Juanma Moreno condemning the process for its lack of transparency. Ahead of regional elections, Moreno plans to emphasise these grievances, aiming to weaken his main rival, María Jesús Montero. The Andalusian PSOE seeks to downplay the issue, contrasting with Valencia, where the PSOE now supports central agreements with independentists.
– In Aragon, Jorge Azcón plans a “civic rebellion” against preferential Catalan funding. The rebellion is spearheaded by Madrid’s Isabel Díaz Ayuso, who vowed to resist the decree, framing it as an existential threat to Spain. The timetable and method of transfers remain uncertain, prompting widespread regional outrage and potential further legal action. Government warns communities that if they refuse to welcome migrants “security forces will intervene”: {Translation, summary}
– The Government insists that all autonomous communities comply with the law on unaccompanied migrant minors, warning of legal and security-force intervention for non-compliance. Nearly 4,000 minors from the Canary Islands, Ceuta and Melilla are to be redistributed, but several Popular Party regions have rejected the decree as “illegal” and “arbitrary,” citing saturated reception systems. Ten PP communities and Castilla-La Mancha have appealed to the Constitutional Court, which has not yet ruled.
– The Government maintains the reform is fair, with distribution based on transparent, objective criteria including income, unemployment, territorial dispersion and prior hosting. Regions must maintain 32 places per 100,000 inhabitants, triggering transfers when overcapacity occurs. Ministers Torres and Bolaños emphasise that disobedience would carry legal consequences and appeal for solidarity from less pressured regions. The July decree specifies procedures for enforcement, allowing security forces to ensure minors are placed with the competent protection authority while preserving potential legal accountability. The transfer programme is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
– While this formula is intended to ensure fairness, it has resulted in uneven allocations that do not accurately reflect the actual capacity or previous efforts of certain communities.
This has led to tensions and legal challenges from various autonomous communities, highlighting the need for a more transparent and balanced approach to the distribution of unaccompanied migrant minors. EUROPE
Germany Proposes Plan to Boost Soldier Recruitment Including Possibility to Resort to a Draft:
– The German government on Wednesday proposed the first major overhaul of its military recruitment since it abolished compulsory service in 2011, as the country seeks to fill the ranks of its woefully understaffed armed forces.
– The proposed law, which must be passed by a majority in Parliament, is intended to promote voluntary recruitment but includes a measure to conscript young men if not enough can be persuaded to sign up.
– The efforts to rebuild Germany’s military, which include record arms spending, have intensified this year as President Trump has made clear that he expects European nations to spend more on their own security.
– But armies need soldiers, and even as the threat from Russia has led to a slight uptick in recruitment, Germany needs an additional 80,000 active-duty service members. Many career soldiers who enlisted at the tail end of the Cold War are going into retirement. According to the defence ministry, the goal is to have 260,000 service members and another 200,000 reservists; currently the armed forces have just over 180,000 active-duty members and fewer than 50,000 reservists who participated in training exercises last year.
– To turn the tide on recruitment, Mr. Pistorius worked up the draft bill and presented it at a special session of Parliament held at the defence ministry. The bill would raise soldiers’ salaries, expand specialized training and add attractive career prospects — reforms that the army hopes will persuade more young men to join. The bill would also create a mandatory questionnaire to be sent to all 18-year-old men (women can fill it out voluntarily), which the defence ministry will use to keep track of possible recruits and gauge their interest in the service. Controversially, the bill allows the government to start conscription if not enough recruits can be enlisted voluntarily, though it leaves open the question of when and how that decision would be made. UKRAINE WAR
Russian forces break into another region of Ukraine with peace efforts making no progress:
– Russia’s invading forces have broken into an eighth region of Ukraine, a Ukrainian military official said Wednesday, seeking to capture more ground in their three-year war of attrition as U.S.-led peace efforts struggle to gain traction.
– Some Russian troops have entered the villages of Novoheorhiivka and Zaporizke in the eastern Dnipropetrovsk region, a major Ukrainian industrial centre next to the Donetsk region where fierce fighting has been taking place, Victor Trehubov, spokesman for local ground forces, told The Associated Press by phone.
– Russia’s Defence Ministry claimed earlier this month that its forces had taken the two villages. But the Russians have not entrenched or built fortifications there, and fighting is continuing in the villages, Trehubov said.
– Ukrainian troops are under severe strain as they try to hold back Russia’s bigger army. Military analysts say there is no sign of a looming collapse of Ukrainian defences and note that Russian forces have been unable to take major towns and cities, but their slow slog through rural areas keeps Ukraine under pressure. HEALTH
Coercive suicide? Even progressives at U.N. now alarmed over extreme euthanasia plan in France:
– Euthanasia, the deliberate medical industry killing of victims, has become more and more common around the world in recent years. In Canada, it’s routinely offered, instead of medical treatment, to people with nothing more than depression. In the United States, more and more state legislatures are adopting the “assisted suicide” schemes that kill residents.
– But it is one scheme, in France, that has actually alarmed even the progressives at the United Nations. There, the U.N. Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities has told the French government to respond to serious concerns about its “radical” plan authorizing and promoting euthanasia and assisted suicide.
– According to a report from the American Center for Law and Justice, whose affiliate, the European Centre for Law and Justice alerted the U.N. about problems, said the bill “seems to target persons with disabilities, and coerces religious clinics and retirement homes to comply or face punishment.”
– The French plan already has been endorsed by Emmanuel Macron and been adopted in the National Assembly. He awaits confirmation in the French Senate.
– “First, as a matter of principle, it violates the prohibition on killing and describes euthanasia and assisted suicide as forms of so-called ‘medical care,’ deceptively framed as merely offering ‘aid in dying.’ Even more alarming, it uses a subjective criteria of suffering, including individuals with mental illness and disabilities,” the ACLJ warned.
– “The proposed euthanasia procedure could occur in a shockingly quick turnaround – carried out within a week – based solely on the decision of a single physician without any judicial oversight. Families would not be allowed to oppose the killing of their loved one, and compliance with the policy would only be reviewed a posteriori, or after the patient’s death,” the pro-life organization said.
– “Extremely disturbing is that medical and social institutions — including religious clinics and retirement homes — would be forced to permit euthanasia on their premises, while pharmacists would be legally required to supply the lethal drugs used. The bill even creates a new crime of obstruction, punishable with up to two years in prison and fines of €30,000, effectively criminalizing any attempt to prevent or question an assisted suicide.”
– The ECLJ now is challenging the plan under international law, specifically the U.N. Convention of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. That 2006 treaty sets out the rights of the disabled, and countries are legal bound to follow, if they’ve adopted it.
– The ECLJ has informed the U.N. of the human rights violations embedded in France’s agenda, and as a result, the U.N. told France of the “credible information indicating that if the above-mentioned piece of legislation is approved, it would result in an infringement of the duty of the state party to respect, protect and guarantee the right to life of persons with disabilities.” Among the concerns is the U.N.’s perception that “proposed eligibility criteria…appear to be based in ableist perceptions of the quality and value of the life of persons with disabilities.”:
– The ACLJ explained, “In fact, under the proposed law, a disability alone could be sufficient grounds for euthanasia or assisted suicide, if the person suffers physically or psychologically. This refers to what the U.N. CRPD calls ‘ableist.’ It also raised concerns about the lack of ‘alternatives to assisted dying,’ the creation of a new felony of obstructing assisted suicide, and the very short mandatory cooling-off period of only two days before euthanasia or assisted suicide can be performed.”
– France has been trying to delay a response, which now isn’t expected until the end of the month.
– “It is extremely unusual for a U.N. Committee to intervene during a national legislative process, but in this case, it is fully justified given the dangerous nature of the bill. We must never forget that the U.N. was founded in response to the horrific crimes of Nazi Germany, including the state-sanctioned euthanasia of the innocent,” the ACLJ warned.
– The Universal Declaration of Human Rights states euthanasia is always a crime and can never be justified. Full article: https://www.wnd.com/2025/08/coercive-suicide-even-progressives-u-n-now-alarmed/

The PSOE in Malaga denounces the regional government’s “plundering” of public healthcare and the lack of emergency services in Axarquía: {Translation, summary}
– Mari Nieves Ramírez, Deputy Secretary-General of the PSOE in Málaga, condemned the Junta of Andalusia for repeatedly diverting public healthcare funds to private providers, citing a SAS contract of over 533 million euros. Speaking outside Vélez Norte Health Centre with Víctor González, Secretary-General of the PSOE in Vélez-Málaga, she stressed that every euro sent to private healthcare worsens public services. Ramírez highlighted the chronic shortage of staff and medical resources, the closure of health centres in the afternoons, and unanswered promises for new facilities, which have led to long waiting lists and overwhelmed clinics.
– González added that local health centres in Vélez-Málaga and the wider Axarquía region are operating beyond capacity, with many lacking even basic 24-hour emergency services. Despite increasing demand, centres such as Vélez Norte do not provide round-the-clock care, leaving patients without essential emergency support. He reported more than 15,000 patients on hospital waiting lists, including over 3,000 awaiting surgery, and accused President Juanma Moreno of diverting billions to private healthcare, some under judicial investigation.
– Both leaders criticised local officials for inaction and demanded urgent measures to restore accessible, high-quality public healthcare. They framed the situation as a critical political and social battle to protect essential services.
