Golden Leaves Funeral Plans:
Pre-planning your funeral is a thoughtful and responsible way to show you care about your family.
Funerals are no easy task. There are numerous considerations to factor in, including logistics, food and drink, casket purchase and burial grounds. A loved one’s death brings immense emotional strain to any family, and the question of financing and arrangements only exacerbates the stress.
Handling all of these challenges is difficult enough in one’s normal circumstances, but having to go through it while abroad is an enormous burden.
Golden Leaves Funeral Plans aims to support grieving families during these tumultuous times. Since our inception in 1984, we have partnered with a widespread network of funeral directors across the UK and Europe.
Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.
As one of the leading providers of expat prepaid funeral plans in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands, we make sure to adequately support your family in the time of greatest need.

Halting Erosion using Vetiver
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment depending on the current travel restrictions. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.
To see more images of Vetiver go to this link.

Recommendations & Requests

Refugio de Leo: I would like to recommend that anyone interested in the welfare of our canine companions and who may be interested in offering some help to Antonio and his helpers at the Refugio de Leo, situated between Velez Malaga and Arenas, as championed by Scott from SPW Construction Services in last weeks DigameXtra. All roads are surfaced, so there is no problem with any off road driving. See Google map ping here: https://maps.google.com/?q=36.806229,-4.077485
Scott and his team from SPW Construction Services spent this past weekend laying a floor in one of the kennels and will be doing more work over the next couple of weekends.
Antonio, who runs Refugio de Leo, would welcome any assistance and/or donations that any of us Digame-ites might be able to offer – from cleaning and maintenance to dog walking (see collage), or donations of food, old blankets, etc. The area for walking the dogs is manageable with all roads being surfaced for those who cannot clamber through the wilds! Have a look at their site on: http://www.elrefugiodeleo.com/
Antonio can be contacted directly on mob: +34 654 427 202
Or call Scott from SPW who is happy to liaise on mob: +34 622 938 440
My wife, Sue and I, had a wonderful time walking some of the dogs this past Sunday. The weather was lovely, the stroll a nice gentle bit of exercise and the views wonderful, not to mention the beautiful, friendly and happy canines. Please consider helping out in any way that you feel you can. It would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance, Keith, Torre del Mar.

Vaccination of under-60s against coronavirus gets under way in Andalucía: The region’s Minister of Health, Jesús Aguirre, announced this Tuesday that the public health authority had started to call 59-year-olds to receive their jabs. “And then we will continue with 58-year-olds,” he added.
In addition, Aguirre has announced a new group on which his department wants to focus their strategy against the pandemic: dock workers considering them “a new risk group” since – as he pointed out – in some areas of Spain they have detected that “the virus enters coastal ports through cargo ships”. Conservative Right Dominates in Madrid Elections: The conservative Popular Party’s candidate was the big winner at Tuesday’s Madrid election, having managed to secure more seats in the regional assembly than the three leftist parties combined. With 99% of votes counted, Ayuso had taken 65 seats, just four short of the absolute majority of 69. Combined with the 13 seats of far-right Vox, the two parties secured 77 deputies in total compared to the 59 of the leftist bloc: 25 for the Socialist Party (PSOE), 24 for Más Madrid and 10 for Unidas Podemos. At the last regional elections, in 2019, the difference between right and left was just four seats. Now that number is 18. Madrid has shifted even further to the right. Pablo Iglesias leaves politics after Liberal Left gets hammered in Madrid Elections: {Translated, summary}
Iglesias was in fifth position, the last, and United We can only get 10 seats with him (7.2 percent). Pablo Iglesias leaves politics and all his positions. The organic ones in Podemos and the institutional ones. The coup de effect that the secretary general of Podemos tried when he left the coalition government and presented himself as a candidate for the electoral advance in the Community of Madrid failed. And he leaves. “When you stop being useful, you have to know how to withdraw.” With these words, the former vice president of the Government said goodbye this morning. AGAIN! Apple Releases Urgent Security Patches For Zero-Day Bugs Under Active Attacks, Safari Also Targeted: Apple on Monday released security updates for iOS, macOS, and watchOS to address three zero-day flaws and expand patches for a fourth vulnerability that the company said might have been exploited in the wild. The weaknesses all concern WebKit, the browser engine which powers Safari and other third-party web browsers in iOS, allowing an adversary to execute arbitrary code on target devices. The development comes just a week after Apple rolled out iOS 14.5 and macOS Big Sur 11.3 with a fix for a potentially exploited WebKit Storage vulnerability.
Until users demand better pre-release testing, Apple will continue to release vulnerable software, and let the users do Apple’s beta testing for them. Since you pay a high premium price for Apple products, you should expect properly tested products. Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/05/apple-releases-urgent-security-patches.html

Amazon’s European subsidiary pays no corporation tax for 2020: Amazon’s European arm paid no corporation tax in Luxembourg for last year, despite revenues of some €44bn, documents show. Because it posted a loss of €1.19bn (£1.03bn), the Luxembourg-headquartered subsidiary was not required to pay any tax, and in fact received a €56.39m (£48.95m) credit.
Adding up losses, including from previous years, gives the firm €2.7bn (£2.35bn), which it can offset against any future corporate tax bills. Full article: https://www.independent.co.uk/news/business/news/amazon-corporation-tax-europe-luxembourg-b1841881.html

Juanma Moreno: “On Sunday the curfew in Andalusia ends when the state of alarm ends”: {Translation}
-“On Monday the curfew ends and we cannot close beaches with very high levels of contagion because the state of alarm ends. The communities are tied in knots”. This is the message of the president of the Junta, Juanma Moreno, who on Monday insisted that the Executive Pedro Sánchez has to give a legal umbrella to the autonomous regions to manage the pandemic after the end of the state of alarm on Sunday 9 May.
-The central government does not seem to have any intention of extending this table, but Moreno has indicated that this reluctance may be overcome after the elections to the Madrid regional government, which take place this Tuesday. “There is still time. I hope that when the elections are over, the government will feel liberated and will provide a regulatory framework so that the communities are not naked” in the management of the pandemic, the Andalusian president said.
-For Moreno, equally valid would be an extension of the state of alarm, an emergency law or changes to the Public Health Law that would enable the communities to close mobility or limit meetings, fundamental rights protected by the Constitution.
-Moreno has once again asked the central government for tools with which “to be able to tell a sick person not to leave the house or to close municipalities or provinces” or even to impose “a curfew, which has helped to prevent the spread of the virus”.
-And if there is no help from Pedro Sánchez’s government? Then the Andalusian government intends to act “within its sphere of competence”, in other words, “to restrict opening hours and when there are many cases in an area we would try to close that locality by asking permission from the judicial authority”.
-However, this option, Moreno stressed, would reduce the speed of the Junta’s action in controlling the pandemic. Sold Out: I have sold out of all the Minis Forum GN31 MiniPCs I received. Thank you to everyone who replied. As the wholesale price has gone up by 30% since I last ordered them a month ago, due to the current computer shortage coupled with high demand worldwide, I doubt I will order any more of that particular item. I am always searching for good value deals for my clients, so if I can find a similar item at a reasonable cost they will be posted here. In the mean time, keep your current computers well maintained, and consider upgrading them rather than replacing them. Doubling the RAM and replacing old HDDs with new SSDs will bring new life to older units.

A million Spaniards due second AstraZeneca shot will have to wait another month: On Tuesday, May 4, it will have been 84 days since the first doses of Oxford-AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine were administered in Spain. That’s 12 weeks – the maximum time that the technical sheet for the Covid-19 vaccine recommends between the two injections necessary to offer full protection. The Public Health Commission, which is made up of the central Health Ministry and the country’s regions, met today to decide what course of action to take for the more than a million under-60s who have received their first dose and have been left in limbo ever since the Spanish health authorities opted to use the medication exclusively for the 60-69 age group given concerns over the tiny risk of blood clots associated with AstraZeneca. In the end the health authorities have opted to delay the decision for another four weeks. The urban bus will be free for the residents of Torrox: {Translation, summary}
-Torrox wants to “revolutionize” public transport. The City Council announced this Thursday that it will be free “for all residents”, in addition to expanding coverage to reach, for the first time, the limit with Nerja (no further explanation of this was offered). The councilor has explained that in order to benefit from this measure, it only will be necessary to present a card when entering the buses, which can be requested by anyone who is registered in the municipality. In addition, thanks to new technologies, users will be able, from now on, to keep track of the schedules, both through the information panels that will be installed at the stops , and directly on their mobiles, when taking the new vehicles integrated a GPS.
-These are the main novelties that the mayor, Óscar Medina, together with the mayor of the Treasury, Paula Moreno, has announced, precisely in the environment in which the new bus stop will be located, on the border with Nerja, where it will also be has presented the new bus that joins the existing fleet, a low-floor vehicle, adapted to the needs of passengers, with a ramp for people with reduced mobility and also incorporates USB chargers in each seat.

A Military Career in Jeopardy For TV Piracy- Offered Pirate IPTV on FakeBook: The man was selling illegal services that provided access to premium sport, TV and films. He was reportedly offering the subscriptions through a Facebook group and via an app, for loading onto devices such as Firesticks. An anti-piracy group reported that the man, from Oxfordshire, is a serving member of the armed forces as a Corporal in the Royal Air Force. He was convicted of conspiracy to defraud and loss of service property and also received a reduction to his rank. This result shows the serious consequences faced by individuals who choose to break the law by supplying illegal content. Let’s look through the US Army’s new night vision goggles- it’s amazing: The ENVG-B night vision system has been under development in the United States in recent months and is nearing completion. DigameXtra Editorial- Covid is NOT an Excuse for Robbery: Shoppers need to pay attention, and not just pay assuming the tab is correct. In addition, certain retail outlets are raising prices, without notice, to unjustifiable levels by a variety of means. Often their ads remain the same, but what you get is significantly less! Be vigilant!
-I check every receipt before I leave the checkout, I find myself overcharged for at least one item in fully half of my visits to supermarkets as of late. As I tend to do daily shopping, this is a lot of overcharges I find myself contesting. This is usually blamed on a failure to update their computers, or on an outdated price posted on a shelf. I do not find these excuses acceptable considering how often it happens. Some will not even honor the prices they have posted when you point out the mistake. Many supermarkets in the US/Canada give you the item for free if they mis-price it. I am all in favor of making that mandatory everywhere.
-A low budget brand of cooking oil at one local supermarket rose by 50% overnight, while remaining unchanged at all the others I checked.
-I bought a large family size pizza (not the small personal pizzas) to go for €8, mushroom & chorizo, on the boardwalk. When I got home I found it had 5 paper thin slices of chorizo and 12 thin slices of mushroom. When I returned the next day and presented them with a photo, they denied they made that pizza even though it was still in their box in the pic!
-The MiniPCs I have been ordering for resale have doubled in price in 6 months.
-My local pharmacy charges 50% more than what others charge for many identical common articles like asprin and tylenol, despite a Federal gov’t mandate to sell these common items at discount prices to help the financially challenged due to Covid. In other cases, they will try to sell you expensive brand name items, when a generic version is available for far less. If you are on a tight budget, always ask for the “Marca genérica” version. (Note: with some common pharmaceuticals, like Diazepam [Valium], the generic version is notably inferior in strength to the original version [Roche], despite being an “equivalent”.)
-The point is, check all purchases before handing over your cash! -Ed.

Sharp decrease in Covid infections and deaths in Andalusia that push the fourth wave down: {Translation} Updated 30/04/2021, 14:06
-The fourth wave continues to decline, pushed this Friday by a sharp drop in the number of infections and deaths compared to last week. According to data provided by the Regional Ministry of Health and Families, Andalusia has had 1,604 cases of Covid-19 on Friday, compared to 2,070 on the same day last week.
-Deaths due to the health crisis have also fallen sharply in the seven-day comparison. Thus, this Friday the community has 13 fatalities but on the same day last week there were almost three times as many, 33.
-Meanwhile, the cumulative incidence (AI), which measures the speed of expansion of the pandemic of coronavirus, has been down for another day. It is now two weeks that the AI has fallen, confirming that the fourth wave has left behind the highest peak on 19 April and is slowly but steadily moving towards a new valley, perhaps the last, according to the Minister of Health and Families, Jesús Aguirre.
-The councillor, who noted the good evolution of the vaccination process with the arrival of more doses, pointed out that immunisation may cause the fourth to be the last wave of the pandemic as such. This does not mean that there will be no contagions, but it is understood that they will be more localised and not generalised as is the case now.
-In any case, Andalusia has recorded 220.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over 14 days. Yesterday it was 225.7, a fall of more than five points. Moreover, it should be noted that this “thermometer” on the evolution of the crisis has already dropped 43 points since its highest point on 19 April.
-The seven-day incidence, which is where changes in the trend are seen before, also continues to fall. However, this Friday’s drop is the least pronounced of the last few days. Thus, it has gone from 95.9 yesterday to 95.5, a drop of only 0.4 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants. This does not mean that the downward trend of the fourth wave will be reversed, only that the fall has slowed for one day.
-The number of people hospitalised on Friday was 1,423. This is 27 fewer than yesterday, which is much further away from the peak of the fourth wave, which stood at 1,593 on 20 April.
-In addition, the community has reduced by five those hospitalised in intensive care after four days of increase. Today there are 346 patients in the ICU compared to 351 yesterday. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-brusco-descenso-contagios-covid-y-muertos-andalucia-empujan-cuarta-hacia-abajo-202104301143_noticia.html

NGOs call on Spanish government for guidelines over vaccination of migrants and other collectives without healthcare cards: Spain’s vaccination campaign is open to everyone living in the country, regardless of their immigration status. But it is still unclear how the regions – which are in charge of their own inoculation processes – are going to reach collectives who are invisible to the system. The homeless, for example, or foreign-born seniors who are legally living with family members resident in Spain but are not eligible for a healthcare card, run the risk of being excluded. That’s according to 40 different NGOs, who jointly denounced the situation on Thursday.
The organizations who have denounced the situation – headed by Amnesty International, among others – are calling on the Health Ministry to set out “binding directives” to guarantee that no one without a healthcare card is left without a vaccine. Full article: https://english.elpais.com/society/2021-04-30/ngos-call-on-spanish-government-for-guidelines-over-vaccination-of-migrants-and-other-collectives-without-healthcare-cards.html

Spain warns it will only welcome UK tourists back if Britain reciprocates: Spain has warned that it will only welcome British holidaymakers back to its resorts if the UK offers the same deal to its tourists.
Spain is preparing to open its borders to British holidaymakers in June provided they have a digital vaccine certificate or a negative Covid test result. But the tourism ministry told The Telegraph that the UK must “accept the same terms for Spanish travellers who go to the UK”. Apple Abusive Business Practices With App Developers Exposed As Brussels Accuses Apple of Breaking EU Competition Laws in its war against Spotify and other apps:
At the centre of the EC’s investigation are two particular restrictions imposed by Apple on developers using the App Store to distribute their products:
-The mandatory use of Apple’s own proprietary in-app purchase (IAP) system for the distribution of paid digital content. Apple charges third party app developers a 30% commission – also known as Apple’s ‘app tax’ – on all subscription fees through IAP for the first year.
-Secondly, Apple’s rules, which prevent developers from telling users about alternative purchasing options outside of their iOS apps.
-“Apple violates EU competition law.” This is how forceful the Community Vice President for Competition, Margarethe Vestager, has stated, adding: “App Stores play a central role in today’s digital economy. Our preliminary investigation is that Apple is with Apple Music, Apple also competes with music streaming providers. By setting strict rules in the app store that put competing music streaming services at a disadvantage, Apple deprives users of cheaper music streaming options and distorts the competition. This is done by charging high commissions on each transaction in the app store for rivals and forbidding them to inform their customers about alternative subscription options. ”
-From now on, Apple may face a fine or an order from the Community Executive that forces it to change the design of its App Store so as not to benefit its Apple Music to the detriment of the competition. Why? Because the EU understands that Apple violates antitrust law by charging high commissions on its App Store and, at the same time, prohibiting application developers from informing their customers about other ways to subscribe to their services.
-Apps that want to use Apple’s App Store, the only official way to reach the world’s 1 billion iPhones, must pay up to a 30% commission and agree to a strict set of rules that, according to Apple, are designed to ensure the quality.

Andalusia cuts Covid infections one more day and the incidence already drops to 225 points: {Translation}
Updated: 04/29/2021 18:35
-Andalusia continues to reduce the number of cases of covid infection day by day. On Thursday, 1,698 people were infected, almost 200 fewer than on the same day last week, confirming the downward trend of the fourth wave. However, the decline in this peak of the pandemic is slow. There are no sharp drops in the number of positives, but rather a smooth curve in the number of reported cases.
-This can also be seen in the 14-day cumulative incidence, which on Thursday stands at 225.7 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. It reached 263 points on 19 April and now, ten days later, it has dropped by 38 points. It is a steady and continuous drop, but a slight one.
-The same trend can be seen in this seven-day measure of the strength of the health crisis. In this case, Andalusia now has 95.9 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, down from 115.5 on 19 April.
-Where there has been a clearer decrease is in the number of deaths. There are 9 this Thursday, bringing the total since the beginning of the Covid pandemic to 9,720. However, this drop – there were 29 yesterday and 22 the day before – does not necessarily represent a change in trend, since a week ago there were also days with fewer than ten deaths a day.
-The number of hospitalised patients, which this Thursday reached 1,450 (17 less than yesterday), continues to fall. In fact, Andalusia has already reduced 143 hospital admissions since the peak of the fourth wave, which occurred on 20 April with 1,593 patients in Andalusian hospitals due to covid.
-Where the ceiling has not yet been reached is in those admitted to the ICU. In fact, on Thursday the community registered 351 patients in intensive care, five more than yesterday. Although there is a rise and a new peak is marked, it is true that the figures reveal a slowdown in the increase of those hospitalised in ICU, so that this week or next week the peak of this variable may already be exceeded and a clear decrease can be seen. National Police warn of a new technique used by burglars to know if anyone is at home: In this new method, the criminals place strings of glue between door and the frame. With this simple system, the thieves know if there is movement in the house in question and if its occupants enter and leave normally or, if on the contrary, they have not opened the door for days. -Andalusia recorded Wednesday 1 .484 new infections of coronavirus and 29 deaths attributable to Covid -19 data confirm the trend of gradual decline in the fourth wave of the pandemic. The rate drops this Wednesday by almost 19 points in Almería (233), and it also does so significantly, around ten points, in Cádiz (161), Córdoba (193) and Jaén (316). Andalucíans Over 70 Can Call These Numbers To Make An Appointment For The Covid Vaccine: The number of over-70s living in Andlaucía, approximately 160,000 people, can now call their health centre to make an appointment. To make it easier for these people to get their first dose, the Andalucian Health Service (SAS) has set up various phone numbers in each province to request appointments. Attention! FluBot Android Banking Malware Spreads Quickly Across Europe: FluBot, a banking trojan, began its operations late last year, infecting more than 60,000 users in Spain, according to Proactive Defence Against Future Threats (PRODAFT) in March 2021. It’s said to have amassed more than 11 million phone numbers from the devices, representing 25% of the total population in Spain.
Primarily distributed via SMS phishing (aka smishing), the messages masquerade as a delivery service such as FedEx, DHL, and Correos, seemingly notifying users of their package or shipment delivery status along with a link to track the order, which, when clicked, downloads malicious apps that have the encrypted FluBot module embedded within them.
Although Spanish authorities arrested four criminals suspected to be behind the FluBot campaign last month, infections have since picked up, while simultaneously expanding the countries targeted to include Japan, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and the Netherlands in a short period of time.
“FluBot is likely to continue to spread at a fairly rapid rate, moving methodically from country to country via a conscious effort by the threat actors,” Proofpoint researchers said. “As long as there are users willing to trust an unexpected SMS message and follow the threat actors’ provided instructions and prompts, campaigns such as these will be successful.” Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2021/04/attention-flubot-android-banking.html

Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.

Is Your Business Fakebook Page Losing You Customers?: While a properly maintained FB page can certainly boost your client base, a poorly maintained FB page can just as certainly drive away potential clients. If you fail to post at least weekly, viewers may consider that evidence your business is not successful, as it appears it has few customers that need to be kept updated on your activities. If you fail to post at least every 2 weeks viewers may think you have closed your business! I see many local businesses who have not posted on FB in months. I see some FB pages where there are no replies to comments posted. This makes it look like you don’t monitor the FB page, and don’t care about the concerns of clients or potential customers.
If you use FB for your business, you really should post something everyday, and keep your page free of clutter, poorly written posts and poor quality images, as these reflect directly onto your reputation.
If you are going to use FB for biz you need to make it part of your weekly routine, otherwise it may cost you more than you gain from it!

The Government extends the mandatory warranty periods and the possibility of repairing products to increase their useful life: The Council of Ministers has approved this Tuesday to extend the legal guarantee period for products by one year to three and increase the minimum time in which manufacturers must have spare parts once for up to 10 years (now there are five) a product is no longer manufactured, thus guaranteeing the consumer’s right to repair.

No evidence of Covid-19 transmissions at 5,000-strong concert one month on: Exactly a month ago, 5,000 people attended a Love of Lesbian gig at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi—the first large concert in over a year.
-Although spectators were not required to remain seated or socially distanced, they did have to provide proof of a negative antigen test and wear FFP2 masks as part of an experiment conducted by Festivals per la Cultura Segura and Hospital Germans Trias i Pujol.
-A month later, and after tracking the number of Covid-19 cases amongst the 4,592 concert-goers who gave their consent to share this information, the pilot test organizers have determined that the gig was not a superspreader event in results that could have implications for future Covid-time festivals in Barcelona and beyond.
-All in all, only 6 people tested positive within two weeks following the concert—the equivalent of an incidence rate of 131 cases per 100,000 inhabitants when at the same time, Barcelona’s overall rate was 259.5.
Of these 6 cases, medical professionals have been able to establish that 4 were not infected at the March 27 event, while the origin of the other 2 remains unknown. Because of the strict health and safety measures in place during the concert, however, they believe they are unlikely to have gotten the virus there. Fake Gas Inspectors Working the Costa del Sol: Fuengirola Council, councillor for Consumer Affairs, Francisco Jose Martin, has said there had been an increase in the number of scams relating to gas inspectors being carried out against the elderly.
He added, “Different municipalities of the province are warning of an exponential increase in these cases of fraud where, for the most part, the elderly are victims. “It is important to remember that all the inspections of the installation of gas… in the home, are only done if the owner of the house requests them.”

UK Pensioners In Spain Struggle With A ‘Failing System’ Amid Soaring Health Costs: Sue Wilson, chair of the campaign organisation Bremain in Spain has warned that UK pensioners have been hit with hefty medical fees as they await sign-off on their paperwork, known as an S1 form, which would grant them access to the Spanish national health system.
Ms. Wilson said: “Some people are paying for medical care that perhaps they wouldn’t need to had they got their residencia sorted out sooner. It is not just the cost of the healthcare it’s the drugs as well so you know if you take a lot of medicines then that can get pricey.” Full article: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2021/04/26/uk-pensioners-in-spain-struggle-with-a-failing-system-amid-soaring-health-costs/

The contagion curve of the fourth wave continues to decline in Andalusia: {Translation}
-The contagion curve of the fourth wave of coronavirus falls slowly in Andalusia, which this Monday counts 1,785 new cases and 7 deaths with data from the last 48 hours. This is 249 cases less than the record last Monday .
-The evolution of infections in recent days sets the trend: on Saturday 1,839 cases were counted in just 24 hours, 2,070 were on Friday for 1,884 on Thursday, 1,899 on Wednesday. Only last Tuesday marked a lower number of infections last week.
-Seville is the province that has added the highest number of infections in the last two days, with 492; Granada registered 331, Cádiz 228, Málaga 199, Jaén 181, Huelva 138, Almería 124 and Córdoba 92 positive for coronavirus.
-This slight decrease in infections influences the incidence rate. At 14 days, it stands at 240 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, while at 7 days it is 104, less than half. This data confirms the downward trend of the impact of the fourth wave. However, there are provinces above the extreme alert level. This is the case of Granada, which continues to have the highest incidence in the community with 430 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants; Jaén, with 337 cases and Seville, whose 14-day rate has been stalled for days at 270 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants.
-The lowest rate is Malaga that has 138 cases and therefore in medium level alert, followed by Cadiz, with 176 cases, Cordoba, 188; Almería, which registers 239 cases, and Huelva, with 246.
-The also decreases for the sixth consecutive day number of hospitalized Covid patients, which this Monday is 1,426 -Those admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) have fallen by four in relation to Sunday’s data to stand at 318.
-Those hospitalized are 106 less than a week ago ; and the patients in ICU, ten less. Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-coronavirus-andalucia-curva-contagios-cuarta-sigue-baja-andalucia-202104261148_noticia.html

The Minister of Health and Families, Jesús Aguirre , has assured that over 60 years there are 42 percent of Andalusians with a dose of the vaccine coronavirus ; while in the case of those over 70 years of age, the percentage rises to 70.6 percent; in addition to the fact that “those over 80 years of age have all of us vaccinated.” Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-vacuna-covid-andalucia-42-por-ciento-personas-mayores-60-anos-tiene-puesta-menos-dosis-202104261445_noticia.html

Junta de Andalucia will this Monday April 26 begin mass screenings in four municipalities in the province of Malaga, namely, Alfarnate and Alfarnatejo, Ronda, and Cuevas del Becerro: This comes after the General Directorate of Public Health and Pharmaceutical Management believed these areas to be susceptible to a specific risk assessment after having detected in them a growing trend of coronavirus infections. Gov’t Agencies Hack Computers To Fix Malware WITHOUT Notifying Users!: Emotet, the notorious email-based Windows malware behind several botnet-driven spam campaigns and ransomware attacks, was automatically wiped from infected computers en masse following a European law enforcement operation.
While the motivation, to remove very bad malware, is noble, noone has any business breaking into your computer without permission.
Twice in the past 30 days, once in the US and once in the EU, authorities have done just that. This sets the stage for gov’ts to access your data whenever they deem necessary, with very little oversight. In order to find the malware they must scan the entire contents of your computer. Do you want the gov’t to see everything on your computer? That includes every file, every website visited, every search you have done. Do you have private info or company secrets to protect? Without any legislation or public debate they just went ahead and did as they pleased. TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE! While malware is bad, it is no excuse for these drastic measures. I suspect we will see some big ticket class action lawsuits as a result, which the taxpayers will end up footing the bill for. The only clear way to stop this is to encrypt your entire hard drive, while not difficult to do, it will slow your computer significantly, as well as also using a paid, well respected VPN for ALL your online activities. 1.5 Billion Apple Devices at Risk- Apple Ignores AirDrop Bug That Could Leak Your Personal Info to Anyone Nearby:
Only turn on AirDrop when in use! When finished, disable it!
“As an attacker, it is possible to learn the phone numbers and email addresses of AirDrop users – even as a complete stranger,” said a team of academics from the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany. “All they require is a Wi-Fi-capable device and physical proximity to a target that initiates the discovery process by opening the sharing pane on an iOS or macOS device.”
-The researchers said they privately notified Apple of the issue as early as May 2019, and once again in October 2020 after developing a solution named “PrivateDrop” to correct the flawed design in AirDrop.
-But given that Apple is yet to indicate its plans to fix the privacy leakage, users of more than 1.5 billion Apple devices are vulnerable to such attacks. “Users can only protect themselves by disabling AirDrop discovery in the system settings and by refraining from opening the sharing menu,” the researchers said. Coronavirus vaccination campaign among the elderly in Spain is starting to pay off: A medical expert said that proof that vaccines work is that now the majority of the elderly admitted for coronavirus had decided not to be vaccinated.
José Luis Velasco, deputy medical director of the Clínico explained, “Over 80 years old, we only have six patients and they were not vaccinated.” Of the 15 patients in hospital with Covid-19 over the age of 70, 14 had not received the vaccine: “When you discuss it with them, they tell you that they had fears and that is why they had not been vaccinated”. E.U. Set to Let Vaccinated U.S. Tourists Visit This Summer: American tourists who have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19 will be able to visit the European Union over the summer, the head of the bloc’s executive body said in an interview with The New York Times on Sunday, more than a year after shutting down nonessential travel from most countries to limit the spread of the coronavirus.
“The Americans, as far as I can see, use European Medicines Agency-approved vaccines,” Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, said Sunday in an interview with The Times in Brussels. “This will enable free movement and the travel to the European Union. Because one thing is clear: All 27 member states will accept, unconditionally, all those who are vaccinated with vaccines that are approved by E.M.A.,” she added. European Commission launches legal action against AstraZeneca over ‘failure to respect Covid-19 vaccine contract’: Announcing the move on Monday, spokesman Stefan De Keersmaecker said “the Commission has started last Friday legal action against the company AstraZeneca on the basis of breaches of the advance purchase agreement.” He said the reason for the legal action was that “some terms of the contract have not been respected” and that “the company has not been in a position to come up with a reliable strategy to ensure a timely delivery of doses.”
AstraZeneca’s contract with the European Union foresaw an initial 300 million doses for distribution among the 27 member countries, with an option for a further 100 million.
Only 30 million doses were delivered in the first quarter of 2021, and the company says it can only provide 70 million in the second quarter, rather than the 180 million it had promised.
AstraZeneca said in a statement that it “regrets” the commission’s decision to take legal action and it will “strongly defend” itself in court.

Warning Over New UK Travel Announcement: MPs and travel operators in the UK are reportedly warning the government will spark confusion if their travel green list conflicts with Foreign Office travel advice.

Bill Gates says no to sharing vaccine formulas with global poor to end pandemic: Bill Gates, one of the world’s richest men and most powerful philanthropists, was the target of criticism from social justice campaigners on Sunday after arguing that lifting patent protections on COVID-19 vaccine technology and sharing recipes with the world to foster a massive ramp up in manufacturing and distribution – despite a growing international call to do exactly that – is a bad idea. Surprise in the deep sea- Researchers discover sponge paths on the ocean floor: A team around deep-sea scientist Antje Boetius has now discovered that sponges, long thought to remain stationary anchored to an ocean floor object, or swept along by currents, actually leave trails on the sea floor in the Arctic deep sea. They conclude that the animals might move actively – even if only a few centimetres per year. Full article: https://www.eurekalert.org/pub_releases/2021-04/awih-sit042621.php

Andalusia reduces by 45 those hospitalized this Sunday, but increases the patients in ICU: {Translation} Updated: 04/25/2021 3:05 p.m
-Andalusia falls for the fifth day in a row hospitalised by coronavirus this Sunday 25 April to 1,427, 45 less than the day before and 30 less than last Sunday, while those admitted to an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) have increased after two days in decline to 322, eight more in one day and 20 more than a week ago.
-The number of hospitalised patients fell by 45 after dropping by 29 on Saturday and Friday, 58 on Thursday and five on Wednesday, rising by 61 on Tuesday and 75 on Monday, and falling by 41 last Sunday.
-For their part, ICU patients have increased by eight after dropping by four on Saturday and three on Friday, and five consecutive increases: two on Thursday, one on Wednesday, five on Tuesday, six on Monday and eleven on Sunday.
-The region is still far from the peaks of hospitalised patients recorded in the third wave on 2 February (4,980), in the second on 10 November (3,478) and in the first on 30 March 2020 (2,708).
-With regard to ICUs, Andalusia also remains below the peak of the third wave reached on 7 February (735), of the second on 18 November (528) and of the first on 30 March 2020 (439). Israel examining heart inflammation cases in people who received Pfizer COVID shot: Israel’s Health Ministry said on Sunday it is examining a small number of cases of heart inflammation in people who had received Pfizer’s (PFE.N) COVID-19 vaccine, though it has not yet drawn any conclusions. Israel’s pandemic response coordinator, Nachman Ash, said that a preliminary study showed “tens of incidents” of myocarditis occurring among more than 5 million vaccinated people, primarily after the second dose.
Most of the cases were reported among people up to age 30. Full article: https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/israel-examining-heart-inflammation-cases-people-who-received-pfizer-covid-shot-2021-04-25/

Stop Apple from deleting your old or banned apps: Instead of paying app developers to update their apps, Apple, in many cases, just buys replacement apps and removes old apps from their store, and your iPhone/iPad, without even notifying you. This has earned Apple a terrible reputation with app developers, many of whom will never work with Apple again for this reason. Thus the poor selection of reliable apps from well known developers in the Apple Store when compared to the huge variety available for Windows, who does pay developers to update their apps. Here is a way to prevent your old apps from being deleted by Apple. -Naythan

MIT (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) researchers say you’re no safer from Covid indoors at 6 feet or 60 feet in new study challenging “social distancing policies”:
MIT professors Martin Z. Bazant, who teaches chemical engineering and applied mathematics, and John W.M. Bush, who teaches applied mathematics, developed a method of calculating exposure risk to Covid-19 in an indoor setting that factors in a variety of issues that could affect transmission, including the amount of time spent inside, air filtration and circulation, immunization, variant strains, mask use, and even respiratory activity such as breathing, eating, speaking or singing.
“We argue there really isn’t much of a benefit to the 6-foot rule, especially when people are wearing masks,” Bazant said in an interview. “It really has no physical basis because the air a person is breathing while wearing a mask tends to rise and comes down elsewhere in the room so you’re more exposed to the average background than you are to a person at a distance.”
The important variable the CDC and the WHO have overlooked is the amount of time spent indoors, Bazant said. The longer someone is inside with an infected person, the greater the chance of transmission, he said.
“We need scientific information conveyed to the public in a way that is not just fearmongering but is actually based in analysis,” Bazant said. After three rounds of heavy peer review, he said it’s the most review he’s ever been through, and that now that it’s published he hopes it will influence policy.

How a single pill home cure for Covid could be available this year: If the trial is successful, it is just possible that a home cure for Covid-19 will become available later this year. The anti-viral pill was developed from scratch during the current pandemic, Dafydd Owen, the director of medicinal chemistry at Pfizer, told a private symposium of the Division of Medicinal Chemistry last month. PF-07321332 will be administered in combination with low doses of Ritonavir, an antiviral used to treat HIV. It acts as a “booster” to increase the amount of PF-07321332 in participants’ blood. Why Password Manager Apps Should Be Avoided: As I have warned in previous articles, cloud services (including password managers) get hacked regularly. So why would you trust them to store all your passwords? For example: Click Studios, the Australian software company behind the Passwordstate password management application, has notified customers to reset their passwords following a supply chain attack…”Affected customers password records may have been harvested.” The full list of compromised information includes computer name, user name, domain name, current process name, current process id, names and IDs of all running processes, names of all running services, display name and status, Passwordstate instance’s Proxy Server Address, usernames and passwords.
This is not an isolated event. In December 2020, a rogue update to the SolarWinds Orion network management software installed a backdoor on the networks of up to 18,000 corporations, allowing hackers access to these victim corporation’s customer’s data.

Apple News- iOS 14.5 arrives this week, 2 reasons you should wait to update your iPhone or iPad: Being an early adopter of iOS 14.5 or any new software doesn’t always pay off.
The updates will go live this week, and while we don’t have an exact date we do know that it will include several additional features, such as new Siri voices and a fancy new Face ID feature that makes it possible to use your iPhone while wearing a face mask.
While it’s tempting to update your iPhone or iPad to the latest and greatest software Apple has to offer, being an early adopter of anything, even official OS updates, can cause more issues and headaches than it’s worth. Instead of jumping on the iOS 14.5 bandwagon right away, you might find it better to wait a few days before updating (I’d wait 2 full weeks, minimum. -DoctorLaptop).

Spanish Politics- Chaos reigns at Madrid electoral debate, as Pablo Iglesias walks out and program cut short after clashes with far-right Vox candidate: A pre-election debate held at the Cadena SER radio network descended into chaos on Friday morning, with the Unidas Podemos candidate for the upcoming Madrid regional polls, Pablo Iglesias, walking out of the studio almost as soon as the program had begun. The left-wing politician, who recently left his role as deputy prime minister in the national government to contest the May 4 elections, opted to leave given the refusal of far-right Vox candidate Rocío Monasterio to retract doubts she had expressed over whether death threats he had received were genuine. She said, “And well, I believe little of what Pablo Iglesias says, and I think that all Spaniards, every time that we hear Pablo Iglesias say something, we call it into question because he has deceived us vilely over this last year.” Full article: https://english.elpais.com/politics/2021-04-23/chaos-reigns-at-madrid-electoral-debate-as-pablo-iglesias-walks-out-and-program-cut-short-after-clashes-with-far-right-vox-candidate.html

It is now understood that Spain’s national government has wanted to introduce toll systems in line with its EU neighbours for a couple of years now.
