The Nerja Cave Festival 2025 has been cancelled. Organizers, desperate to put a positive spin on it, claim their mismanagement is opportunity to “clarify and strengthen fundamental aspects of the process”: {Translation}

Temperatures could soar to 35C as Britons swelter in heatwave:

– The European Commission’s Eurostat website has been exploited by third parties who used it to advertise shady IPTV services. The straightforward SEO ‘hack’ aimed to rank well for various IPTV-related searches, including the top position for “best IPTV providers of 2025”. To make matters worse, it confused AI, leading it to suggest that the EU was offering IPTV advice
– Last month, the EU published the fourth edition of its ‘Counterfeit and Piracy Watch List’, providing a detailed overview of piracy-linked sites and services located outside the EU. The report covered many unlicensed IPTV services, including VolkaIPTV, GenIPTV, and King365TV, noting that these are merely the tip of the iceberg. The EU is not wrong; it has been aware of the pirate IPTV problem for a while and actively supports research and enforcement actions to counter the threat.
– Yet, despite these efforts to identify and curb illegal services, a significant vulnerability emerged closer to home. The European Commission’s own technical infrastructure was exploited to boost shady IPTV sales (with adverts for pirate IPTV services posted on their website and search results {pic} that suggested the illegal service was EU sponsored!). Today, Tuesday 1/7, the blue zone parking enters into force on the coast of the municipality of Torrox: {Translation}
– From 1 July until 31 August, the blue zone will be in operation along the coast of the municipality of Torrox. This involves a parking restriction limiting stays to a maximum of two hours, free of charge, in effect from Monday to Friday between 10:00 and 22:00, and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 14:00, except on public holidays. Bicycles, mopeds, and motorcycles are not permitted to use these areas, as there are other specific designated places available for them.
– The Torrox Local Police also point out that people with reduced mobility, if they find their designated spaces occupied, may use the blue zone without the need for a device or time limit until their specific space becomes free, provided they display the authorised card. They have also emphasised that although parking in the blue zone is free for two hours, there is still the possibility of a fine. Amazon Fire TV Stick Begins Remote Disabling IPTV Piracy Apps:
– Popular all year round and at times selling out in the run-up to Christmas, the Fire TV Stick became a household brand, assisted in no small part by its Android-based operating system allowing sideloading of apps from third-party sources (…apps that allow unauthorized and/or pirate subscription access to premium network content like live sports, live BBC & etc).
– First reported by popular YouTuber TechDoctorUK, it emerged that two piracy apps – Flix Vision and Live NetTV – were no longer welcome on Amazon devices, despite being sideloaded from third-party sources technically outside Amazon’s control. Users with these apps already installed were given little choice; Amazon disabled both remotely with an option to follow-up with a full delete. The warning from Amazon mirrors similar warnings in current anti-piracy campaigns; apps offering pirated content often contain malware or expose users to other risks including exfiltration of their personal data.
– Additional reports indicate that Amazon isn’t quite finished and more apps are currently falling in much the same fashion. – The Telegraph states that Sánchez’s “enemies” call him “dog” instead of Pedro because “it is impossible to get rid of him,” but asserts that the scandals revealed in recent weeks threaten to unseat him from La Moncloa, placing the Spanish leader in the weakest position since he took office. – The first (official) heatwave of the summer will arrive this Saturday. After enduring a scorching June, the warning from Aemet is causing considerable concern among citizens, as the start of July points to a situation even more stifling than what has been experienced so far.
– Aemet describes how a large anticyclone at mid and high levels, coming from the interior of the African continent, will intensify and extend to cover most of the Spanish territory starting Friday, the 27th. “A southerly flow will bring a very warm and relatively dry air mass over the peninsula and the Balearic Islands, which, combined with high sunshine, will lead to a progressive rise in temperatures over the coming days,” Aemet’s forecast explains. The End of Medical Confidentiality- AI will allow doctors to listen to patients and forget about typing: {Translation}
– Artificial intelligence has entered primary care consultations this month. The aim is for this tool is to type the conversation between the GP and the patient, letting the doctor focus entirely on listening and obtaining information about the latter’s condition. This will facilitate a closer relationship and reaching an accurate diagnosis.
– For now, this is only a pilot programme, but the plan agreed by Spain’s Ministry of Health and the regional ministries is for the system to be operational in all primary care consultations in the country before the end of 2027. The Eduardo Ocón Auditorium in the Paseo del Parque is the main stage for this festival. The puppet shows are suitable for children from 3 upwards and all performances are free and start at 8pm. The most anticipated moment will come with the headline performance by Sami Duque, scheduled for 12:30 am, and the evening will close with music from Sau DJ.
– Sunday 6 July. Sunday will begin with the Public Paella prepared by the Sin Edades Association, along with performances by local dance groups and the band Ñ Clan. Palomares DJ will bring the daytime fair to a close. In the evening the fair will conclude with performances by the dance groups of Antonio and Elsa Guerra.

– Microsoft on Tuesday announced that it’s extending Windows 10 Extended Security Updates (ESU) for an extra year by letting users pay a small fee of $30.

– Mick Ralphs, a guitarist, singer, songwriter and founding member of the classic British rock bands Bad Company and Mott the Hoople, has died.
– Born in Stoke Lacy, Herefordshire, England, Ralphs began playing blues guitar as a teenager, and in his early 20s in 1966, he co-founded the Doc Thomas Group. In 1969, the band would become Mott the Hoople, a name taken from the title and title character of a 1966 novel by Willard Manus.
– A statement posted to Bad Company’s official website Monday announced Ralphs’ death at age 81. Ralphs had a stroke days after what would be his final performance with the band at London’s O2 Arena in 2016, and had been bedridden ever since, the statement said. No further details on the circumstances of his death were provided.
– Ralphs is set to become a member of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Bad Company in November.
– Ralphs wrote the 1970’s song “Ready for Love” for Mott the Hoople, later revamped for Bad Company’s 1974 debut album, which also included the Ralphs-penned hit “Can’t Get Enough.” He co-wrote Bad Company’s 1975 classic “Feel Like Makin’ Love” with Rodgers. – “This is simply another deception, whose consequences we do not know, nor do we know if it will have consequences for Spain and the defence of Spanish citizens,” he said, adding that the PP will tell people “the truth,” which is that “at this moment” the Prime Minister “is not trustworthy.”

Russian attacks on Ukraine kill at least 10 and injure dozens:
– Russian drones and missiles killed at least 10 civilians in Ukraine in night time attacks, local officials said Monday, with seven deaths reported in the capital, Kyiv, where emergency crews raced to find people believed trapped under the rubble of a partially collapsed apartment building.
– Russia fired 352 drones and decoys overnight, as well as 11 ballistic missiles and five cruise missiles, Ukraine’s air force said. Air defences intercepted or jammed 339 drones and 15 missiles before they could reach their targets, a statement said.

Satellite images indicate severe damage to Fordow, but doubts remain:
– Commercial satellite imagery indicates the U.S. attack on Iran’s Fordow nuclear plant severely damaged – and possibly destroyed – the deeply-buried site and the uranium-enriching centrifuges it housed, but there was no confirmation, experts said on Sunday. The hall containing hundreds of centrifuges is “too deeply buried for us to evaluate the level of damage based on satellite imagery,” said satellite imagery expert Decker Eveleth. Huge Data Breach Exposes 16 Billion Apple, Google, Facebook Passwords And More!:
– It might be high time to rotate your least-changed passwords, if not all of them. The research team at Cybernews has been quietly tracking stolen credential datasets released this year, and the figures aren’t good: a total of 16 billion records leaked (so far), including government accounts, Apple, Google, Facebook, Telegram logins, VPN credentials, among many other types of logins.
– The team found 30 exposed, easily accessible datasets with stolen access information, ranging from tens of millions to a humongous one with 3.5 billion records, pertaining to a Portuguese-speaking population (Brazil, if we had to guess given the size). While the provenance and relationship between the contents was sometimes ascertained, many of the datasets were completely unnamed. Additionally, while most of the information is apparently login-password sets, there’s a collection of login tokens and cookies, potentially letting attackers skip some forms of 2FA altogether.
