Wild boar keeps local police and hunters occupied for two hours in town-centre chase: The animals are a common sight around the Torrox river but they rarely enter populated areas. Local police, hunters and other officers spent almost two hours on Wednesday morning trying to capture a young wild boar in Torrox town centre. The animal, which according to sources was around three years old, was first spotted by residents in the El Pontil and La Cebadilla areas of the old town. Once caught, it was released in an area of countryside outside the town centre. According to sources, wild boar are a common sight around the Torrox river but they rarely enter populated areas.

Vetiver in conjunction with Sayalonga Sol and the Town Hall in Sayalonga: A Christmas gift collection for the local needy children.
Hello to all of our friends and clients, we are doing this a little earlier than usual as every year we have a larger group of wonderful and caring people. Every year in Sayalonga we work with Bogdan Blanchut of Sayalonga Sol. Bogdan and his staff arrange everything. Everyone donates whatever they can in the form of clothing or toys for children whose parents are in need, along with orphans, and foster children. This is done in conjunction with the Red Cross in Velez Malaga. Bogdan has been doing this for 8 years now. We have had great response from our clients and neighbors of many different nationalities.
We will all meet at the Town Hall on December 19th and have holiday treats with the Alcalde and friends and then transport all the gifts to the Red Cross in Velez Malaga. Contact us as we do not know the time yet and we will let you know. Normally it is 12:00.
This year is no different accept that we, Anna and Dave from Vetiver Spain, are going to provide 10 Vetiver Plants free to anyone who contributes anything for the children. There is no requirement but to participate with us to help people in need. It is a really nice thing that this village does every year and in our opinion is the real meaning of Christmas.
If you would like to participate even in a small way I can send to you the information on what to donate. Mostly clothing, wrapped and labeled for girl or boy and designate the age of the recipient. No cash please!
We hope to see you all at the Town Hall on December 19th and after at the Restaurante Jocavi in the town square for complimentary cocktails provided by the organizers. We then arrange to have everything delivered to the Red Cross in Velez Malaga for the delivery of the items for the children. Last year it took 4 trucks to bring all the gifts to the Red Cross in Velez Malaga and we hope to increase that this year. Any gifts can either be left at the Sayalonga Town Hall or at Bogdan’s office of Sayalonga Sol in the center of the village.
I take all of the photos and donate them to the Town Hall and then to numerous newspapers in many countries.
We hope to see you all soon.

On-Line Annoyances and Anti-virus Fake Warnings – How to Minimize Them
The Problems:
Fake messages from your anti-virus program warning you of non-existent threats, or asking you to purchase a product you already use. Avast has become such a nuisance I refuse to use it any more. Chrome popups begging you to try their browser and set Google as your homepage, when both are already the case. First page Google search results that are a decade old, clear evidence of rigged search results that are supposed to be ranked by recent popularity. Rogue popups on websites demanding you update Flash or Java, then install malware instead. Websites and videos blocked because they are “unavailable in your area”. This is the short-list, but dealing with these will make your online experience way better.
Solutions:
**First lets deal with your anti-virus. Most slow your computer considerably and popup all sorts of rubbish, even in the paid versions. They install all types of extra cleaners and tuneup tools you’ll never use, that slow your comp. The good news for Windows 10 users is that the new Windows Defender Anti-virus, included in all Windows 10 Systems, is now fully improved and capable of providing you as good protection as the other free or paid options like AVG/Avast/McAfee/etc. Windows Defender won’t slow your comp down, and will auto-scan when it senses you are not using the computer for other things. So go ahead and uninstall your old anti-virus and Defender will automatically take over those duties. I still recommend you do a monthly Full Scan with Malwarebytes AntiVirus. If you tend to visit dodgy websites like betting or streaming video, then I would also install Cybereason RamsomFree Protection. Be aware that to uninstall your current antivirus is a 2 step process. First you uninstall it like any other program. Second, you visit the website of the old antivirus, find and download their “Uninstall” or “Clear” tool (links provided below article), and run that following the prompts, to delete all the rubbish left behind when it was uninstalled.
For Windows 7 and 8 users I have a different strategy. I uninstall the old antivirus as above, then install the newly updated FREE antivirus called Immunet, by Cisco. No popups or ads. After installing it, open it, in the Computer column go to Scan Settings and create 2 scheduled scans, a weekly Flash Scan, and a monthly Full Scan. Close that window. Next, in the Product column click Settings, check that ” Clam AV Detection Engines” are both turned on. Then click Close button, done. Immunet uses very little memory resources so after a few restarts your comp will run quicker. A monthly full scan with Malwarebytes or Trend Micro Housecall On-Line Scanner is still recommended.
**Chrome browser and Google Search have both become so infused with data collectors, ads, rigged results, popups and all the other nonsense I just avoid them as much as possible. For a web browser I actually use two. Firefox is my primary browser, with uBlock Origin (ad blocker) and Ghostery (anti-tracker) and Windscribe Free VPN add-ons installed. However some sites just look better in Chrome, so my backup browser is Epic Browser, it’s a version of Chrome with all the surveillance crap removed, and it has a basic free VPN and ad-blocker built in. For a search engine I use two, www.duckduckgo.com and www.startpage.com, both designed for security. Startpage uses Google search as it’s source, and does not track you, unfortunately it supplies the same rigged results. Duckduckgo search results are more fairly ranked.
**To remove the geo-location (not available in your area) blocks on websites, including many US newspaper and magazine websites, set your VPN to the target country and reload the page. I suggest you use a VPN all the time unless you are on a very slow internet connection, under 10Mb/s. Don’t use a VPN on sites that rely on knowing your true location, such as on-line stores. Sorry, most free VPNs won’t get you UK IPTV, but they will protect you from snoops, trackers and open many blocked websites. A good VPN option is the very fast Windscribe VPN. The free version has a generous 10Gb monthly limit but still won’t get you UK IPTV. The Premium (Pro) version has a huge selection of servers to choose from and will meet all your advanced VPN needs the free version can’t. Get Windscribe VPN, free or Pro, here, which will also boost my Windscribe data limit (Thanks!). Click this link, https://secure.link/E5g9oIqW then click on ” continue to website”.
**Remember to use CCleaner every 2 weeks, both the Cleaner and Registry functions. All the presets are correct, don’t change them, just run it as it comes.
If your new adblocker is blocking web content you want to see, find it’s icon in the browser toolbar on the far right, click it, and then temporarily disable it; or choose to “Whitelist” the site if you will be returning frequently so the adblocker automatically ignores that chosen site.

The U3A Axarquia: is loosely based on but not affiliated to the U3A in the UK and the association has been running here in the Axarquia since 2009. Recommendation for a Spanish Cleaning lady: Spanish cleaning lady who has been working for my wife and me for almost a year here in Competa. She comes with her mother once a week and they thoroughly clean our home (170 sq. metres), inside and out, top to bottom, in two and a half hours. We don’t know anyone more honest and hard-working in this town.
The daughter is a single mother of 35, raising two lovely daughters. She is currently working for three different homes, but would like to add at least one or two more regular cleaning jobs to help pay those end of the month bills! She/they would be willing to travel to Nerja and Torre del Mar, for example, or other towns,but would require petrol money. She speaks a little English, enough to communicate on a simple basis. I can’t recommend her/them too highly.

Car Boot/Market, El Pantano Restaurant car park: Sunday 2nd December is the date for the Christmas Car boot sale/market at El Pantano Restaurant car park, overlooking Lake Vinuela. 9.30am to 1.pm.
Easy to find on the A356 towards Colmenar. Drive over the bridge crossing Lake Vinuela and the car park/bar is just ahead on the right hand side. Plenty of parking.

Come along and enjoy a morning browsing and picking up a few bargains for Christmas at this well established monthly market, which attracts visitors from far and near. A super location. The restaurant has shaded terraces overlooking the lake and many customers sit and enjoy a coffee or a tapa and a drink and catch up with friends and acquaintances for a chat. Many even stay and choose lunch from the varied menu available. Bar is open from 9.30am serving coffee/drinks/food.

Eye lens operation: Can anyone recommend a company that deals in eye lens replacement operations or knows of anyone who has had a good experience?
