Andalucian president says he will announce fresh restrictions on Sunday: The regional president, Juanma Moreno, told the Andalucian parliament on Thursday this week (5 November) that he was getting ready to announce new restrictions on Sunday for the region, starting from Monday (9 November). However he stopped short of saying what they would be.
On Sunday, the national government’s nighttime curfew order expires and it is left to each of Spain’s devolved regions to decide what to do locally. “If the figures from now to Sunday don’t evolve, it’s my responsibility to take decisions,” explained Moreno, saying he would meet with his committee of experts first. Full article: http://www.surinenglish.com/local/202011/06/andalusian-president-says-will-20201106015915.html  (Editorial note- The regional president, Juanma Moreno has limited tools available to tighten the existing controls. One thing he can do, and this has been covered here in earlier articles on this topic, is to force businesses to close even earlier than 11pm. He has discussed closing business in the afternoon, allowing “morning business” only. This will do huge damage to all businesses who rely on afternoon and evening customer traffic. If you disagree with an earlier business curfew you only have TODAY to contact the Andalucian authorities let them know how you feel. DigameXtra does not take a position on this matter, this is posted for informational purposes only. -Ed.)

Spain sets seven-day record for Covid deaths in second wave:
The number of victims over the last week came in at 1,002 in the latest Health Ministry report, double the figure from one month ago. The infection rate, meanwhile, is starting to slow.
Of these fatalities, 368 were reported in the previous 24 hours. This is the first time in this phase of the pandemic that the former data point has exceeded 1,000. A month ago, on October 5, the number was 366. The total death toll now stands at 38,846. Given that rising Covid deaths reflect a rise in cases from several weeks ago, the number of fatalities is likely to continue increasing given where new infections were headed at that time. Sweden and Germany removed from England’s travel corridors:
Passengers arriving into the UK from Germany and Sweden from 4am on Saturday 7 November 2020 will need to self-isolate for 2 weeks before then following domestic rules.
In England, everyone must stay at home, and may leave only for a very limited set of reasons, including for work or education. This means people can no longer travel to take holidays, or travel internationally – unless for work or other legally permitted reasons. The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has updated its travel advice to reflect this.
Fixed penalties starting at £200 will be given to those found not following the rules, but these fines will double for subsequent offences, up to a maximum of £6,400. Full article: https://www.gov.uk/government/news/germany-and-sweden-removed-from-travel-corridor-list-of-exempt-countries

Why you will soon have to drive slower in cities in Spain:
Spain’s traffic authority plans to lower the generic speed limit in urban areas from 50km/h to 30km/h to counteract the dramatic rise in accidents in recent years caused largely by delivery vehicles. Update Your iOS Devices Now- 3 Active Exploits Discovered:
Apple on Thursday released multiple security updates to patch three zero-day vulnerabilities that were revealed as being actively exploited in the wild.
Rolled out as part of its iOS, iPadOS, macOS, and watchOS updates, the flaws reside in the FontParser component and the kernel, allowing adversaries to remotely execute arbitrary code and run malicious programs with kernel-level privileges.
The list of impacted devices includes iPhone 5s and later, iPod touch 6th and 7th generation, iPad Air, iPad mini 2 and later, and Apple Watch Series 1 and later.
The fixes are available in versions iOS 12.4.9 and 14.2, iPadOS 14.2, watchOS 5.3.9, 6.2.9, and 7.1, and as a supplemental update for macOS Catalina 10.15.7. Full article: https://thehackernews.com/2020/11/update-your-ios-devices-now-3-actively.html

Spanish government to wait ‘two or three weeks’ before taking tougher coronavirus measures: The Health Ministry maintains that more time must pass to assess whether the current restrictions, such as the nighttime curfew and perimetral lockdown, are working.
The health chief of Andalucia, Jesús Aguirre, has asked for “clear and unified criteria” for a home lockdown, adding that the government must “act as soon as possible before the evolution of the pandemic with a legislative development for confinement, be it in a healthcare area, province or region in general.” Full article:

Spain adds 1,326 coronavirus deaths to official count due to methodology change: On Wednesday, the Health Ministry added 1,326 fatalities to the official tally, including 297 that were registered over the last 24 hours – a record of Spain’s second wave. Deaths from Covid-19 officially stand at 38,118, although the real figure is much higher because thousands of people died without getting tested during the first wave of the pandemic, in March and April. (Conversely, some Covid attributed deaths may have been due to pre-existing conditions or the regular flu. -Ed.)

The Lockdown Rumour Mill: There is a lot of talk going around on radio programs and Fakebook suggesting Andalucia is headed back to Home Confinement. Do not believe the rumours, only the National Gov’t can declare home confinement. That requires a vote, so we will have advance notice if such a vote is scheduled. There should be an official update later this week, or early next week when they must review/renew the curfew.

US Election 2020- Too Close To Call: https://nypost.com/2020/11/03/2020-presidential-election-results-map-live-updates-from-across-us/

The Board proposes to advance the curfew in Andalucia in the afternoon to stop the coronavirus: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es} Updated: 11/4/2020 17: 38h
The president of the Board, Juanma Moreno , has indicated that the measure he opts for limiting mobility in order to stop the advance of the coronavirus is the closure of economic activity in the afternoon . This has been pointed out by the Andalusian president, who has explained that the bulk of economic activity occurs from seven in the morning until three in the afternoon.
With that schedule in mind, Moreno has indicated that the measure of restricting the activity would be from the night backwards. It ie advancing the mandatory closure of shops , which is now set at 22.30 pm . However, the Andalusian president has not specified which would be the new bands where economic activity would be prohibited.
“The only measure we can do is to go from bottom to top,” explained Moreno, advancing that schedule and “restricting activity from below, that is, from the night, so as not to hurt morning productivity.” They are measures, Moreno has indicated, “that do harm” to the economy but the prediction of deaths from coronavirus that the president has on the table predicts a tightening of the limitations.
On the other hand, and to analyze this week’s data, the Chairman of the Board has indicated that this Sunday he will meet with the committee of experts . In this meeting, they will study whether are applied in Andalusia, “stricter” measures including the home confinement of citizens. However, Moreno has insisted, this is the “last option” that you want to apply in the community.
The president has acknowledged that the situation is “frankly worrying” , noting that Granada’s figures have soared behind the bridge. In this sense, he pointed out that if the data is maintained “we have no choice but to limit mobility and timetables from bottom to top”, that is, if necessary, extend the curfew towards the afternoon , “not to damage more to morning productivity, which is the one with the highest peak of activity.
“These are measures that harm the productive fabric, but we have no alternative but to limit mobility if we do not want to go to home confinement ,” said Moren, who explained that the Board works “to find the balance between health and tourism sector, the most damaged by the pandemic. Pants down and facemasks on Trump and Biden go head to head in Spain’s bizarre Christmas tradition: The pair are competing to appear on top of the best seller list of this year’s caganer figurines, a bizarre Christmas tradition in the Spanish region of Catalonia. Known as “caganers” – which translates as “poopers” or “crappers” in English – the clay figurines area popular nativity scene decoration in Catalonia, where a defecating figure perched behind Mary and Joseph is said to symbolize fertilization, as well as bringing luck and prosperity for the year ahead. Visit any Catalan home at Christmas and you will find what appears to be an interloper hiding among the traditional figures around the crib in the nativity scene. Bitcoin Pumped Above $14K As Trump Becomes Betting Favorite to Win Elections: Bitcoin broke above the coveted $14,000 mark on Saturday for the first time since January 2018. Since then, though, the asset has primarily struggled with maintaining its high price tag.
In fact, BTC even dipped below $13,300 on two occasions in the following days. It started recovering yesterday when it jumped above $13,500 and stayed above it for most of the past 24 hours.
Just a few hours ago, the primary cryptocurrency headed higher once more. With a few decisive candles, Bitcoin surged to $14,050 (on Bitstamp) before retracing to its current level – $13,800. UPDATED- The Lockdown Rumour Mill: There is a lot of talk going around on radio programs and Fakebook suggesting Andalucia is headed back to Home Confinement. Do not believe the rumours, only the National Gov’t can declare home confinement. That requires a vote, so we will have advance notice if such a vote is scheduled. There should be an official update later this week, or early next week when they must review/renew the curfew.

UK records 397 COVID deaths, highest daily toll since May: The United Kingdom reported 397 new deaths from COVID-19 on Tuesday, the highest daily figure since May 27, as the government prepares to introduce a national lockdown in England to stop a wave of infections threatening the health service.
The UK, which has the biggest official death toll in Europe from COVID-19, is grappling with more than 20,000 new coronavirus cases a day. Scientists have warned a worst-case scenario of 80,000 dead could be exceeded this winter.
Tuesday’s figure raised the total number of people who have died in the United Kingdom within 28 days of testing positive for the new coronavirus since the start of the pandemic to 47,250.

Terrorism threat level in Britain raised to ‘severe’: (Reuters, updated Nov. 3, 2020, 5:23 PM) – Britain’s terrorism threat level has been raised to ‘severe’ as a precaution following attacks in France and Austria, interior minister Priti Patel said on Tuesday.
The change, which means an attack is now seen as highly likely, comes the day after a gunman in Vienna identified as a convicted jihadist killed four people in a rampage overnight. France has also suffered three attacks in recent weeks.
“This is a precautionary measure following the terrible instances that we’ve seen in France last week, and the events that we saw in Austria last night,” Patel said in a televised statement
She said the public should not be alarmed and that the change in threat level was not based on any specific threat.
The new threat level means an attack is highly likely, according to the government’s classification system. The previous ‘substantial’ level meant an attack was likely. WhatsApp integrates option to free up storage quickly: If you are an active user, you may have noticed that WhatsApp is using a lot of space on the device. Much of it comes from chat data, media files, and other files that get transferred between users or in WhatsApp groups. It was not practicable up until now to delete data from within the application to free up space.
Manage Storage is a new feature that provides an easy and straightforward cleaning option. Just select Manage Storage in the settings and either get rid of all data or selectively to free up space. Since you always see what you will delete, it is easy to decide whether something needs to stay or can go. Recommendations & Requests

A recommendation for Car Clean Malaga listed in the Sponsor Section below: After many years living in the campo and driving a dusty track then this year moving house our car had become neglected and dirty, added to the typical bumps and scratches it was looking sad.
We contacted Car Clean and are amazed at the result after they did their work. Our car is now shiny and looking fabulous, the headlights paint work and interior are looking great.

DoctorLaptop’s Tips #84 – Computer Info & Preparing for the Possible New Lockdown, by DoctorLaptop:
-Computers, and especially laptops, are in very short supply due to international shipping restrictions not replenishing inventories. Both new and used models in the low to mid price ranges have all been bought up with so many people now working and studying from home. Just look at Amazon UK, most computers by major manufacturers under €500 are out of stock, and those that remain have doubled in price over the past few months, may have a delivery time of 8+ weeks, or are 8+yrs old. The off-brands you never heard of, while less expensive and more available, are best avoided. Even if you are willing to accept a Spanish keyboard, the local big-box stores have very little on offer in the low to middle price range. Keep in mind, if you are doing tele-conferencing, ZOOM, online classes & work, Team Viewer, Skype, etc, a low budget model is likely to provide disappointing results. You’ll want a minimum 8Gb RAM and a processor speed of no less than 1.8GHz for reliable, good quality performance doing these resource-intensive activities.
-Since laptops have become central to most people’s lives when locked down, I highly recommend you keep your current laptops properly maintained; if you have not had a proper maintenance service done in the past year, do it asap. If we get locked down again and you have computer problems you may not be able to deliver it to me for repairs. A proper servicing is the best way to avoid breakdowns.
-Basic guideline is if you use your computer 2 hrs a day, get it serviced annually, especially if you do online banking and shopping. Or learn to service it yourself, there are many YouTube tutorial videos available. Look for recently posted videos, old videos will contain obsolete info as the malware world constantly evolves. Always make a Restore Point and backup your data before running maintenance tools (except CCleaner, no need to make a backup before using CCleaner’s basic cleanup functions, but making a Restore Point before running CCleaner is still a good idea).
-If you are relying on an old laptop, you need to know the life expectancy of recent laptops is only 4-5 yrs. Keeping them maintained properly can extend that another few years. Installing a new Hard Drive and installing a fresh copy of Windows and adding more RAM all can bring great performance improvements in older models. Even Microsoft recommends reinstalling Windows after 5 years.
-The new Win 10 update v20H2 is being released here now. I have installed it in 2 computers, it took over 3hrs in both cases and it restarted itself 3 times in the process, so be patient. Under no circumstances force it off after the update process has begun!!! To do so will very likely render the computer unbootable and in need of a full reinstall of Windows. You MUST wait for it to finish, either successfully or with an error message that the update failed and the old system has been restored. Either way, the computer should still be usable.
-If you are in need of a computer and cannot locate a laptop in English, consider a Desktop/Tower/MiniPC where you can supply whatever keyboard you like. Changing the Windows 10 system language from Spanish to other languages is very simple, see YouTube videos for the method. The new MiniPCs are as powerful as mid level laptops but are as small as a TV Box! I am currently testing a few models and will soon have some for sale.
-Good news for Apple Users, sort of: The latest Mac OS 14  has implemented enhanced “sandboxing” of apps, a way of isolating apps each in their own independent, sealed space, to prevent malware installing and blocking apps from  interferring with each other. This enhancement may be a good idea. Sandboxing in Mac systems has been around since 2012 in various forms, we’ll see in time how effective it is against new “fileless” and “pixel based” malware. However, these new enhancements now render all maintenance tools like Malwarebytes For Mac, Saphos Tools, and CCleaner For Mac useless, since they now cannot scan outside their “sandbox” for malware or rubbish files to clean out. Macs with OS 14 still need maintenence. Users will have to do it manually rather than rely on apps to do the work for us. Rubbish files and data still build up over time, and caches should still be purged regularly. Permissions may require renewal. Rogue apps are another Mac threat that manage to sneak their way into your system even if you are careful, they are very good at tricking users into installing them; these must be identified and deleted.

Spain has recorded third-highest coronavirus fatality rate in Europe since July: Only Romania and the Czech Republic have registered more Covid-19 deaths per inhabitant. If the trend continues, there will be 8,000 more official victims by Christmas.
Spain has added 7,100 coronavirus fatalities to the official death toll since July. This equates to 15 deaths per 100,000 inhabitants – the third-highest fatality rate per 100,000 inhabitants in Europe. In Germany, this figure is 10 times lower, and in Italy, it is just one-third of the rate in Spain. Portugal (eight), France (nine) and Belgium (12) are the European countries with the closest fatality rate per 100,000 inhabitants. What’s more, Spain reported an average of 150 daily Covid-19 related fatalities last week, making the virus the leading cause of death. Juan Marín- “Spain is on the path of France or Portugal, confinement may arrive in the next few days”: {First 3 paragraphs of the article, transated from https://seville.abc.es} Updated: 02/11/2020 18:26h
The vice president and counselor for Tourism, Regeneration, Justice and Local Administration of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Marín , has opined this Monday that Spain “is on the path” that neighboring countries such as France, Germany or Portugal are following , which already announced confinements among their population to reduce the spread of Covid-19, which is why they fear that “in the coming days, those decisions may reach” this country.
In an interview on TVE, collected by Europa Press, Marín has been convinced that any decision that can be taken to stop Covid-19 “will be understood by the public”, so that “if the contagion of Covid-19 and hospital pressure, I would not rule out any scenario. We already suffered from confinement from March to June, if I had to return, it will always be based on the criteria of experts in Andalucia, and I hope that in the whole of the country,” he added. Illa rules out the home confinement requested by Asturias and asks “not to enter a competition”: {Full article transated from https://seville.abc.es} Updated: 02/11/2020 19: 36h
For the second time since last Friday, the Minister of Health, Salvador Illa, has publicly ruled out decreeing a home confinement in the coming days to stop coronavirus infections. “We are not working on it, nor do we foresee it,” he said this Monday.
The minister has thus rejected the request made this Monday by the Government of Asturias, which has asked the Executive for a home confinement for 15 days. The Principality yesterday raised its alert level to the maximum by exceeding 400 infections per hundred thousand inhabitants and seeing its hospitals and intensive care units at record levels of occupation.
However, Health trusts that with the measures included in the new state of alarm it will be possible to control the evolution of the pandemic, for which Illa has asked “not to enter into a kind of competition to see who takes the toughest measure.” “We think that with the range of measures that are available to the authorities of the Autonomous Communities to be able to act is enough,” he assured.
More and more communities are pointing to the need for home confinement, already adopted in European countries such as France or Portugal. Specifically, last week the first to request it was Castilla y León, and then Catalonia. But on that occasion, the two regions indicated that they will have to observe the evolution of the pandemic in the next two weeks. If the curfew or the perimeter confinements do not work, then it would be necessary to go to more restrictive models according to the two autonomies.
The proposal of the President of the Principality of Asturias, Adrián Barbón, goes further, since he asks the Ministry of Health to speed up the legal measures necessary to be able to implement home confinement. Asturias has also agreed to close as of this Wednesday “all non-essential economic activity” and establish a curfew at ten at night, two hours before the current one.
The minister, for now, asks for “temperance.” With this pandemic we have seen that things do not happen overnight. When you take measurements, it takes 10-15 days to see results. Therefore, we must have a point of temperance and know how to wait the necessary time to be able to see the effects of very drastic measures, and not enter into a kind of competition to see who takes the hardest measure,”he emphasized. Curfew in Italy- Everything stops at 9 p.m.: Italy is introducing curfew on the entire territory from 9 pm to morning, this was confirmed for Sky TG 24 by Deputy Labor Minister Francesca Puglisi. The new measure, which the Prime Minister will explain to the parliament today, envisages a ban on interregional movements, and all those who have to travel or be on the street after curfew for any reason, must have a personal certificate of justification to be out of the house.
“Unfortunately, we have to sacrifice direct teaching, and lessons will be taught online for all high school students, and it has not yet been decided whether lower elementary school students will follow classes from home,” Deputy Minister of Labor Puglisi said.
Also, the new measure envisages a reduction of city traffic by 50 percent, shopping centers will be closed on weekends, museums, bars, video game halls and exhibitions will be closed. Full article: https://www.b92.net/eng/news/world.php?nav_id=109577

The Last Concert?: Nearly 60 concert halls from all over Spain have decided to join together through the initiative ‘The last concert?’ in which several artists will play from each of these rooms in a festival that will be broadcast on November 18, streaming, starting at 8:00 p.m.
With this initiative, the concert halls intend raise your voice again at the “most critical, turbulent and uncertain” moment for live music, with practically 100% of them closed for eight months due to the coronavirus health crisis.
“The situation is unsustainable and if the administrations do not take far-reaching measures in the short or immediate term, it is very likely that most of the venues in the country will face ‘The Last Concert’ in 2020. The rooms urgently need a rescue plan or the hibernation of fixed costs, to be able to resist and continue offering live music when the health situation allows it, “they say.
Full story: https://spainsnews.com/the-last-concert-a-desperate-chant-against-the-coronavirus-crisis/  (Unless we get the Covid under control, I predict that in the future when you buy a ticket to a concert, you will not actually attend the show in person, you’ll attend on-line. Your ticket will provide you a web link to audio/video streams from microphones and cameras mounted in the seat your ticket is for. You’ll be able to watch it in the comfort of your home, adjusting the sound to your liking, and the video will provide a 360 degree view, zooming in and out at will. Maybe they will mail you a teeshirt as part of the deal. The seat will also have a big screen built in, so you can have your webcam feeding your image to the seat, then “attendees” will be able to “see” each other. In this way the musicians will be able to see the virtual audience. No more parking hassle, or tall people blocking your view. No violence or viruses to worry about. Invite your friends over to watch, free of screaming fans and people talking over the music. The shows will cost far less to produce, and the fans will save travel expenses and outrageous concession costs. Makes sense in a scary kinda way, no? It’s already begun in professional sports entertainment, see the video! -Ed.)

Police make 32 arrests in Madrid, after second night of disturbances across Spain: Violent demonstrators have taken to the streets this weekend in cities including Barcelona, Bilbao and Málaga to protest coronavirus restrictions such as the nighttime curfew
The demonstrators in Madrid set fire to trash containers in the capital’s Gran Vía boulevard as well as damaging store fronts and other commercial premises – in particular banks – in the area.
In the northern city of Bilbao there were four arrests at similar protests. In Vitoria, there were acts of vandalism in the center of the city while in San Sebastián demonstrators also set fire to trash containers. The central government delegate in La Rioja reported that seven National Police officers were injured after serious incidents in the city of Logroño, with at least six people arrested. In Málaga there was also damage caused by protestors and fires were set. Four people were arrested and an officer was injured in Santander, where 50 people demonstrated against the restrictions in the central Ayuntamiento square.
Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has spoken out against the violence and called the “violent and irrational” behavior “intolerable,” and perpetrated by violent minority groups. Full story:

Covid-19: Europe Update
-Portugal announces restrictions. Portugal’s measures cover 70% of the country. People will be required to stay at home except for work, school or essential errands. The new measures will apply to 121 communes out of 308 in the country. The measures encompass both Lisbon and Porto. People in those areas are being told to stay at home and work remotely where possible. Shops must close by 22:00.
-Slovakia has announced it is testing everyone over the age of 10 to try and stop the spread of the disease there. The project to test four million people in the country, where infections have soared, is expected to last over two weekends.
-Greece has announced a partial lockdown, with restaurants and other leisure activities closed in major Greek cities from Tuesday. Greece has not seen as many cases as other parts of Europe, but there has been a steady increase since early October.

UK Government Restricts International Travel: New restrictions on international travel from England will be introduced by the UK government from Thursday 5 November.
Although Boris Johnson did not mention it during his statement at the press conference, ITV Political Editor Robert Peston was briefed beforehand, that international travel out of England will be banned, except for work. Travel within the UK is also discouraged. This has also been included on a list of restrictions published by Sky News, https://news.sky.com/story/coronavirus-what-you-can-and-cant-do-after-england-goes-into-second-lockdown-12119939. How this will be policed is a complete unknown.
Guidance is now available on the UK government website: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november#travel
-You should avoid all non-essential travel by private or public transport.
-Essential travel includes, but is not limited to essential shopping.
-Travelling to work where your workplace is open or you cannot work from home.
-Travelling to education and for caring responsibilities.
-Hospital GP and other medical appointments or visits where you have had an accident or are concerned about your health.
-If you need to travel we encourage you to reduce the number of journeys you make, walk or cycle where possible, or to plan ahead and avoid busy times and routes on public transport. This will allow you to practise social distancing while you travel.
-Overnight stays and holidays away from primary residences will not be allowed- including holidays in the UK and abroad. This includes staying in a second home, if you own one, or staying with anyone you do not live with or are in a support bubble with. There are specific exceptions, for example if you need to stay away from home (including in a second home) for work purposes.
-The regulations implementing these measures, which will be far more detailed than today’s announcements, are expected to be published next week. They will also be subject to a vote in Parliament on Wednesday. Full atricle: https://londonairtravel.com/2020/10/31/uk-government-international-travel-restrictions/

Andalusia is considering going back to confinement at home if the pressure in hospitals does not drop: {Full article translated from https://seville.abc.es} Updated: 31/10/2020 18:04
Home confinement is the last option, but the Junta de Andalucía does not rule out using it if the contagion curve continues its unstoppable ascent. ” If this does not work, we will have to take much more drastic measures ” that obviously would affect mobility,” Andalusian president warned yesterday on Juanma Moreno (PP) Canal Sur’s “Analysis Table” program.
Andalusia would return to the starting box provided that the night curfew, the shielding of the entire community and the perimeter closure of 449 municipalities, apart from other capacity limitations in establishments open to the public, do not take effect.
“Home confinement is the last option, because it implies a contraction and damage to the economy, employment and well-being,” Moreno acknowledged. He hopes not to have to ask the central government for a home confinement, an option that the communities of have already proposed Catalonia or Castilla y León , but everything will depend on the results of the current mobility restrictions.
Between now and 8 November next – when the Board decides whether or not to extend the closures – the Board trusts that the rate of hospitalizations in conventional beds, patients in ICUs and deaths has slowed. ” If it continues to grow, we will have no choice, with all the pain in my heart, but to make more drastic decisions ” to reduce mobility, which, in the absence of vaccines, is the only “instrument” there is to bend the curve contagion, ventured the head of the Andalusian Board.
The main concern is that the health system is overflowing, which yesterday reached 2,471 hospitalizations, 126 more in just 24 hours. Currently, the number of patients admitted is double those that were there just two weeks ago (1,220 discharges on October 15). In Córdoba and Granada they have already equaled the number registered at the peak of the first wave of the pandemic in March.
The fight against the coronarivus is approaching a critical moment. Hospital pressure, like infections, draw an upward curve that has forced to enable alternative hospitals such as those that were set up last spring at the Carranque sports center in Malaga. Once summer has passed and with it the influx of tourists to its beaches, the Costa del Sol is at the lowest risk level and the pressure has now shifted to the provinces of Seville, Granada, Córdoba and Jaén. “If this does not work, we will have to take much more drastic mobility measures”, Moreno advances
The contagion curve continues to skyrocket. Yesterday the 5,000 new positives for Covid-19 were exceeded for the second consecutive day. Exactly, 5,104 cases of coronavirus were counted daily through PCR tests and antigen tests. The infections of the present may be the patients admitted in the days to come. In the Board they know it and “in anticipation” that they will translate into new patients, the counselor of the Presidency, Elías Bendodo, specified that in Granada the old San Cecilio hospital has already been enabled, with more than 200 beds. In Jaén the annex building to the Puerta de Andalucía Hospital will be opened “immediately”. In Seville, the other focus of the second onslaught of the pandemic with 1,496 positives only yesterday, is already working on the medicalization of two hotels.
With this panorama, to which are added 39 more deaths in the last day, in the regional government they cross their fingers that the perimeter closures and the curfew reduce the current health tension. Moreno insisted on this message and recommended that Andalusians “stay at home or in the environment”, that is, to lock themselves in their homes, as in the previous state of alarm, to face the autumn of the pandemic, because the weeks and months to come “are going to be very tough.”
Home confinement is on the table as the last wild card if all else fails. The problem is that it is not in the hands of Andalusia or of any autonomous community to use this resource. The state of alarm decreed for the next six months by the Government does not include mandatory confinement at home. The Junta de Castilla y León, governed by the PP, has already asked the central government to stipulate the legal tools necessary to be able to exercise this competence. The medium-term objective is to overcome the current downturn to arrive at Christmas with caution but without so many mobility limitations.
No restriction is foolproof if there are people determined to skip it. The Police evicted an illegal party with 90 people without masks or distance a week ago in La Rambla, in the province of Córdoba. After the curfew, the La Línea Police caught 18 people red-handed playing bingo in a garage, without masks and smoking oblivious to the viral danger, according to Soraya Fernández. They are probably neither the first nor the last. UK NEW 4 WEEK LOCKDOWN: Prime Minister Boris Johnson has announced a second national lockdown for England as the UK passed one million Covid-19 cases.
Non-essential shops and hospitality will have to close for four weeks on Thursday, he said. But unlike the restrictions in spring, schools, colleges and universities will be allowed to stay open.
The lockdown is due to last until 2 December.
Takeaways will be allowed to stay open as pubs, bars and restaurants close and people are being told they can only meet one person from outside their household outdoors. Full article: https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-54763956

Is Spain heading toward a repeat of March’s total lockdown? :
Health experts argue that home confinement is the only proven strategy to slow the spread of the coronavirus.
“Confinement is the only measure that is scientifically proven,” says Tomás Cobo, the vice president of the Collegiate Medical Organization. “With the rest [of the measures], it’s just trial and error.”
Florentino Pérez Raya, the president of the General Nursing Council, is more emphatic: “It is only possible to flatten the curve of contagions with a new strict confinement order for 14 days,” he says.
José Martínez Olmos, the former general secretary of the Health Ministry and a professor at the Andalusian School of Public Health, agrees: “It will be difficult to avoid confinement with the figures in the regions.”
With new coronavirus cases rising across Europe, the European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) has warned that the measures introduced in the region “have not been fully successful in controlling transmission, and the epidemiological situation is now rapidly deteriorating.” The organization has called for stricter restrictions “which proved to be effective in controlling the epidemic” in spring, arguing that this is the “only available strategy.”
The leader of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, has also called for tougher measures: “No one wants more so-called lockdowns. But if we want to avoid them, we all have to play our part.” Full article: https://english.elpais.com/society/2020-10-29/is-spain-heading-toward-a-repeat-of-marchs-total-lockdown.html

What is the home delivery schedule for bars in Andalusia after the new measures have been introduced? The new BOJA radically changes the standards that existed until now for the hospitality industry: {Full article translated from https://seville.abc.es} Updated: 10/31/2020 13:07
There are many measures that have entered in the last hours Andalusia to try to stop the expansion of the coronavirus . The most important, apart from the state of alarm general , is the curfew , an option that the Board has decided to maintain from 23.00 to 06.00. But the BOJA published yesterday also reveals other aspects related to capacity and schedules, one of them generating quite a few doubts: what hours are the home delivery of the bars in Andalusia?
It turns out that, from the morning of this Friday, the general rule says the following : «Consumption outside or inside the premises will be done sitting at a table, or groups of tables, and the proper safety distance between tables or groups of tables so that, between customers of different groups, there is at least 1.5 meters or, where appropriate, between customers located at the bar, if consumption at the bar is allowed. The maximum occupancy will be six people per table or group of tables. Establishments are established as a 10:30 p.m. maximum of , except in the case of hospitality establishments with a special regime in accordance with the provisions of the Catalog of Public Shows, Recreational Activities and Public Establishments of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia ».
That is to say, throughout Andalusia the hotel industry has to close at 10:30 p.m., half an hour before the community curfew begins, which ranges between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m. But what about home delivery? In previous situations , the BOJA indicated that bars and restaurants could not have customers in person after one hour, but they could take food home . In this Friday’s order, it does not make specific mention of home delivery, it only states that “hospitality establishments with a special regime in accordance with the provisions of the Catalog of Public Shows, Recreational Activities and Establishments may be open after 10:30 p.m. Public of the Autonomous Community of Andalusia ». That is to say, those in airports, ports, funeral homes, highways, hospitals.
Thus, and although it does not expressly say so, home delivery in Andalusia is linked to the closure of bars and restaurants. In this way, at 10:30 all hospitality business must be closed, including home delivery, so that p.m. at 11:00 p.m. no delivery person can be circulating on the streets .
Complaints from the hoteliers.
A measure that the hospitality sector has not liked at all , one of the most punished by the new restrictions of the BOJA. The closing has only been delayed half an hour with respect to the one before the last BOJA, when the request they had made was that they could have their premises open until 23.00 or 23.30 and that the curfew be delayed at 00.00. Now, in addition, they see that another way to generate income, such as home delivery, cannot be extended beyond 10:30 p.m., so all their activity, both in person at their premises and that of food delivery, it will end at the same time. Austria announces 4-week partial lockdown starting Tuesday: Austria on Saturday announced a partial shutdown that will see restaurants and bars closed for four weeks, cultural, sports and leisure activities canceled, and residents asked to stay home after 8 p.m. as the government tries to stem a sharp rise in coronavirus infections. Chancellor Sebastian Kurz said the restrictions will apply from Tuesday until the end of November. Restaurants and bars will be closed except for deliveries and takeout, and hotels closed to tourists.
The chancellor characterized the new restrictions as a “second lockdown,” but they are more lenient than the ones Austria applied during the first phase of the pandemic.
This time, non-essential shops and hairdressers are to stay open. The government also aims to keep schools and kindergartens open, though Kurz said older high school students and universities will be switched to distance learning. Sean Connery, the ‘original’ James Bond, dies at 90: Sean Connery, the charismatic Scottish actor who rose to international superstardom as the suave secret agent James Bond and then abandoned the role to carve out an Oscar-winning career in other rugged roles, has died. He was 90.
Connery’s wife and two sons said he “died peacefully in his sleep surrounded by family” in the Bahamas, where he lived. Son Jason Connery said his father had been “unwell for some time.” PHOTO: AP-Photos

New Windows 10 v.20H2 Update Has been released: The Windows 10 October 2020 Update is out now, and much earlier than anticipated. The latest major update to Windows 10 was rumored to come out in November 2020.
But, perhaps to make up for the delays that the Windows 10 May 2020 Update was plagued with, it instead rolled out on October 21, and is available now for download.
You may not want to get too excited yet, however. While the Windows 10 October 2020 Update was also long rumored to be little more than a bug patch with the introduction of few, if any, major new features, this new upgrade isn’t a huge overhaul of the operating system. (It’s been out for more than a week, and suprisingly few bugs have been reported. -Ed.) Full article: https://www.techradar.com/news/windows-10-20h2-update

Apple will now replace your faulty AirPods Pro earphones for free:
Crackling problems with the Apple AirPods Pro have been reported by users for a few months now, and the issue is apparently widespread enough for Apple to take action- it just launched a free replacement program for the premium earphones.
According to the AirPods Pro Service Program for Sound Issues support page, “a small percentage” of AirPods Pro models are experiencing audio glitches. Any units manufactured before October 2020 might be affected. Apple says “crackling or static sounds” might appear in your ears and increase in loud environments, while you’re exercising, or while you’re talking on the phone. In addition, the Active Noise Cancelation feature may malfunction by losing bass or increasing background noise.

! HAPPY HALLOWEEN (on a Full Moon) !

A Rare Halloween ‘Blue Moon‘ is a spooky treat for us all: It’s the first in 76 years, and won’t happen again until 2039!
This is a truly special confluence of spookiness; a Halloween full moon visible for all time zones on Earth hasn’t happened since 1944, according to the Farmers’ Almanac. It won’t happen again until 2039.
But wait, there’s more: The Oct. 31 full moon also happens to be a “blue moon,” a designation for the second full moon to occur in a single calendar month. Blue moons are relatively rare as well, occurring on average just once every 2.5 years or so. We last saw one in March 2018. Full story: https://www.space.com/halloween-blue-moon-full-moon-2020

Curfew at 11pm, is it the ‘final nail in the coffin’ for the hotel and catering industry? : Businesses express frustration at the regional authority’s refusal to put the curfew back to midnight. Junta president Juanma Moreno said on Wednesday that the curfew would stay at 11pm, and ordered establishments to close at 10.30, this despite having the authority to extend the curfew until midnight as he had previously suggested was a possibility. Covid- Belgium returns to national lockdown: Belgium has announced a return to a national lockdown as the latest coronavirus figures show it has the highest infection rate in Europe.
Non-essential shops and businesses offering personal services like hair salons have been ordered to close from Monday until the middle of December. Any gatherings in public spaces must be limited to a maximum of four people. Supermarkets can only sell essential goods and households are allowed just one visitor.
Autumn school holidays have also been extended until 15 November. The existing night-time curfew measures and closures of bars and restaurants will remain in place. Full story: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-54752194

Covid- All of France’s 67 million people have been ordered to stay at home at all times with no visitors, or risk steep fines: Parisians fleeing for the countryside jammed the roads ahead of France’s lockdown to slow the spread of resurgent coronavirus infections, and there was only a sprinkling of people hurrying along city sidewalks Friday as the nationwide restrictions went into effect.
In France, concerns were growing that rising infections would swamp the country’s health system, so authorities ordered another four-week lockdown beginning Friday. Many areas of the French capital resembled a regular lazy weekend morning — on what would normally have been a bustling weekday. Those who were out frequently clutched permission forms proving they had an exemption that allowed them to to be on streets.
The only places that were busy were grocery stores and markets as people stockpiled food and other necessities.
All of France’s 67 million people have been ordered to stay at home at all times with no visitors, or risk steep fines or prosecution. There are a handful of exceptions, such as being allowed out for one hour of exercise a day within a half-mile (1 kilometer) of home, to go to medical appointments, to a place of work, or to shop for essential goods. Restaurants and cafés are shuttered, apart from those that offer takeout.
“Going to friends’ houses, having friends over and moving around for anything other than the reasons set out will be impossible,” Prime Minister Jean Castex explained firmly on Thursday. Full story: https://apnews.com/article/virus-outbreak-health-paris-france-616144d062db39ec123032bed5c3d930

Illegal YouTube Ripper Tools Claim Innocence Since Users Can Already Download Audio/Video Streams In Most Web Browsers Without Their Tools If They Know The Simple Trick: Downloading audio and video streams from YouTube is generally not allowed, as the video service clearly states in its terms of service. Despite this restriction, there are numerous ‘stream-ripping’ tools available on the web that do just that. These tools have legal uses but they are also a thorn in the side of music industry outfits, who see them as a major piracy threat.
So now that the rippers have been taken to court, they have exposed the easy download method as a defense. Full article: https://torrentfreak.com/deciphering-youtubes-rolling-cypher-in-your-browser-is-a-piece-of-cake-201030/

The rebirth of the Iberian lynx: The latest census shows that there are nearly 900 lynxes on the peninsula now, including adults and kittens – ten times as many as in 2002.
At the moment 583 lynxes are living freely, 476 (81.6%) in Spain and the other 107 in Portugal. In addition, 311 kittens were born in 2019. Most of the lynxes on the Iberian peninsula live in one of the four stable and consolidated communities in Andalucía: Andújar-Cardeña (145), the Guarrizas river area in Jaén (71), Doñana-Aljarafe (69) and Guadalmellato in Cordoba (46), and a further three are loose in different parts of the region. There are also 84 in Castilla-La Mancha (84) and 58 in Extremadura. PHOTO: MRPlotz. Full article: http://www.surinenglish.com/lifestyle/202010/23/rebirth-iberian-lynx-20201023120133-v.html

China’s Xiaomi surpasses Apple as world’s No. 3 smartphone maker: Asia leads the rankings as US giant Apple falls out of top trio for first time in 10 years. Samsung reclaimed its position as the world’s top smartphone maker in the July-September period, as data from all three providers showed, after the South Korean company was briefly overtaken by Huawei in the preceding quarter. Huawei came in second in the September quarter, with a market share of around 14-15%, though according to IDC its smartphone shipments fell 22%, likely due to bad press in the US & EU. Self-employed ‘unemployment’ aid increases by more than 105,000 workers after the new conditions: A total of 105,367 self-employed are incorporated this month as beneficiaries of the ‘unemployment’ aid created by cessation or great reduction of the activity of self-employed workers. Social Security has reported this Thursday that tomorrow, Friday more than 256,000 self-employed will receive some of the benefits launched by the Government to alleviate the situation of this group as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last month, 151,442 workers received aid, representing an increase of 70%.
The increase in beneficiaries is mainly due to the extension of benefits authorized by the Government from October, although also to the increase in the beneficiaries of the aid already existing until September. Thus, tomorrow the aid will be paid to a total of 256,809 workers, at a cost of 243.21 million euros. Last month’s payroll was 157.5 million, so the increase in spending is 54%. These are the new measures of the Junta de Andalucía to stop the contagion of the coronavirus : {Translated full article from https://seville.abc.es} Updated: 28/10/2020 23:21h
The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno , announced this Wednesday the perimeter closure of the community until next November 9 and the maintenance of the curfew from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., the schedule established by the central government in the decree state of alarm and that could be extended or reduced in an hour.
These are the new restrictions that the Jutna de Andalucía has agreed and that will come into force at midnight from Thursday to Friday to bend the contagion curve in the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic:
Andalucia perimeter closure
The entire autonomous community is closed from midnight from Thursday to Friday until next November 9 . The mobility restriction will affect 4.3 million people, half of the Andalucian population, who will not be able to enter or leave their towns “without just cause.”
Closures of three provinces
The provinces of Seville, Granada and Jaén, with all their municipalities will also be closed. The entrances and exits of the localities will not be allowed in general. Possible exceptions will be determined in the Official Gazette of the Junta de Andalucía.
The Board also orders the perimeter closure of the municipalities included in the health districts of Córdoba Sur, La Vega de Málaga and the Jerez Costa Noroeste and Sierra de Cádiz health area, also at level 4, which represents a total of 448 municipalities in Andalucia , more than half populations of the community’s .
The closing of bars is delayed for half an hour
The curfew is maintained throughout Andalucia from 23:00 to 6:00. In coherence with this measure, Moreno pointed out, the closure of all hospitality establishments is established at 10:30 p.m. It is half an hour later than the schedule for hotels and businesses in the decree of the state of alarm of the Government.
Meetings of six people maximum
Meetings, both public and private , are limited to a maximum of six people except in those groups living under the same roof. This restriction already worked since the weekend in Seville, Jaén, Córdoba and Granada.
Ten days long
The perimeter closure of Andalucia and the three aforementioned provinces will last for ten days and will be reviewed every two weeks . Moreno has anticipated that if the pandemic does not evolve favorably and more drastic decisions must be taken, they will be taken, because “it is the competence that the Government of Spain has given us and we assume it responsibly.” Source, Spanish: https://sevilla.abc.es/andalucia/sevi-cierre-perimetral-estas-nuevas-medidas-junta-andalucia-para-frenar-contagios-coronavirus-202010282224_noticia.html

France to Enter Nationwide Lockdown Friday Due to Rising COVID-19 Infections, 5 Months After First Lockdown Restrictions Lifted: Macron said during a televised address translated by France 24 English that the new lockdown is necessary because the country has been “overpowered by a second wave.” The lockdown is expected to last until December but could be extended or shortened depending on what the data reflects in the coming weeks, he said.
Under France’s new lockdown, children will still be able to go to school, retirement communities can continue to receive visitors and citizens can exercise and go to work as needed, though remote work will be encouraged, Macron said. Citizens will be discouraged from traveling from one region of the country to another, and foreign borders will remain mostly closed, with exceptions—and rapid COVID-19 testing availability—for some frequent European travelers, he said.
Further details regarding lockdown rules and exemptions will be announced on Thursday, Macron said. Full article: https://www.newsweek.com/france-enter-nationwide-lockdown-due-rising-covid-19-infections-5-months-after-first-lockdown-1543025

Violent youths disrupt peaceful march against coronavirus curfew in Seville: Videos shared on social media show individuals hurling smoke grenades and setting fire to a trash container. Murcian Government order full closure of the region: The Government of the Region of Murcia, after the meeting of the Covid-19 Monitoring Committee, has decided to close the perimeter of the entire Community.
Free movement between towns will be prohibited (except for justifiable causes) to prevent coronavirus infections from increasing. The order will enter into force at the time it is published in the Official Gazette of the Region of Murcia (BORM).
The president of the Community is currently informing the mayors of the 45 municipalities of the Region of the measures to be implemented, which will be added to the curfew of 11pm to 6am. Germany to enforce new four-week ‘lockdown lite’ that will shut all bars & restaurants – but school & shops stay open: Under the measures, due to come in on Monday morning, people will be restricted to meeting members of just one other household in public. Bars, restaurants, gyms, and cultural venues will be ordered to close and hotels can only stay open for non-tourism related stays. Schools and nurseries will be allowed to stay open as will shops so long as they impose hygiene measures and limit customer numbers. The plan says: “Families and friends should be able to meet each other even under Corona conditions during the Christmas season.” Full story: https://www.thesun.ie/news/6080048/germany-to-enforce-new-four-week-lockdown-lite-that-will-shut-all-bars-restaurants-but-school-shops-stay-open/

Spain’s PM agrees to more congressional oversight during state of alarm: Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has agreed to appear before Congress every two months to explain his government’s handling of the coronavirus crisis. The move follows accusations from across the political spectrum that he was overstepping his bounds by trying to secure a six-month extension to the state of alarm declared last Sunday while avoiding frequent accountability for his actions in parliament.
The main opposition Popular Party (PP) wants a shorter, two-month state of alarm, particularly with a view to saving the Christmas season. Other parties want more frequent congressional oversight.
The government’s plan will be put to the vote on Thursday in the lower house of parliament. Full article: https://english.elpais.com/politics/2020-10-28/spains-pm-agrees-to-more-congressional-oversight-during-state-of-alarm.html

Spanish town brings back the peseta in bid to boost spending + redeeming pesetas and Franco era notes possible thru end of this year: The Multipaterna Commerce and Services Association has launched a campaign that allows payment to be made with pesetas in certain establishments in Paterna, a town in the Valencian Community.
For the rest of Spain those who still have the old currency there is still a few months left to convert them into euros, although they can’t spend them in shops.
Spaniards have been told that they have until December 31st 2020 to exchange their pesetas for euros and that applies for both bank notes and coins.
Any notes produced during the Franco era, which ran from the end of the Civil War in 1939 until the dictator’s death in 1975 can be automatically changed by the Bank of Spain.
Those issued during the conflict can also be exchanged but the process will involve them being analysed by experts to confirm their authenticity.
And any coins still in circulation at the time that euros were brought in on New Year’s Day in 2002 can also be exchanged at Bank of Spain headquarters in Madrid.
The exchange rate offered by the Bank of Spain is 1 euro = 166,386 pesetas but the bank advised that commemorative coins and notes may be worth more as collectors’ items than for their face value, which is all that will be offered in the exchange scheme.
For more information check out the official webpage of the Banco España HERE.

Google Removes 21 Malicious Android Apps from Play Store: The apps masqueraded as harmless gaming apps and came packed with HiddenAds malware, a notorious Trojan known for its capabilities to serve intrusive ads outside of the app. The group behind the operation relies on social media channels to lure users into downloading the apps. See full list in the photo, click it to enlarge.
Once installed, the apps not only hide their icons to prevent deletion but also hide behind relevant-looking advertisements, making them hard to identify.
In addition, the apps also have the ability to draw over other apps to show timed ads that cannot be skipped, and in some cases, even open the browser to bombard users with ads.
Although such apps can be uninstalled through the app manager features of the device, it puts the onus on the users to search for the exact app that’s the source of the ads and remove them.
