Subscription Delivery Problems For iCloud.com Email Users: Several readers using iCloud email have reported they have stopped receiving daily email issues. They are still subscribed but iCloud is blocking the delivery of new blog issues. The problem is due to Apple vs Google compatibility issues.
-The first thing to do is make sure your device OS and apps are fully updated to current versions.
-If you continue to not receive blog emails, you must contact iCloud email support by phone (UK 0800 107 6285 / ES 900812703) or on-line ( https://support.apple.com/choose-country-region/icloud ) or by using the in-app “Help” function, and request they unblock the https://digamextra.com WordPress blog by “whitelisting” this address: donotreply@wordpress.com
It is a common problem that most Apple iCloud support workers are familiar with.
-Until you get this fixed you can visit the blog directly at https://digamextra.com, and you are still subscribed so you may make submissions.

Recommendations & Requests

Advice please: I wonder if anyone can offer any advice on the following?
Back in February we purchased a fridge/freezer from a large electrical retailer near Malaga. It stopped working in mid September. We reported it to the shop as it was still under guarantee. They have been not only unhelpful but have really given us the runaround. We have been told they would send out engineers who never appeared in spite of us waiting in all day for them. Eventually one came last Thursday morning and another came on Thursday afternoon but neither had any tools and then didn’t come back on the specified date with the necessary tools.
The staff in the shop were difficult to the point of nastiness and kept shouting at us Spanish. We kept telling them we had no Spanish but that pmade no difference. It didn’t seem to matter when they were taking our money.
Eventually an engineer came yesterday and told us the fridge was unrepairable. We went to the shop today to be told that the engineers report had to be authorised. We have now been without a fridge/freezer for 19 days (in the current temperatures this is has been very difficult). We asked for the complaints book and were given 2 pieces of paper (I assume because of COVID 19) but they wouldn’t let us take them out of the shop and as we have no Spanish we felt unable to fill them in adequately.
My questions are-
Can they refuse to allow us to take the complaint form to complete at home or to ask a solicitor to intervene on our behalf?
Is there a government body we can report this matter to (Office of Fair Trading or similar)?
If anyone can advise I would appreciate it. I’ll never enter this shop again but it might save someone else the frustration to know their rights. Jan, Velez Malaga,

Can’t get a DGT appointment to exchange driving licence in Spain? Don’t panic: “The DGT are aware that there are difficulties getting appointments ot exchange licence and are looking to open up more appointments soon, although we don’t have exact date for that,” said Lorna Geddie, consular policy advisor in Madrid said in a recent Facebook Live Q&A session.
“They will set up a form that UK licence holders can complete and submit to the DGT by December 25th that will be pre-registration or a first step in the exchange process. What the DGT will be able to do is on basis of information on that form then verify your licence. You will need to get an appointment to finish the process but that appointment can be from January 1st onwards.”

Italy imposes a new mask mandate outside and in as virus rebounds:
The new mask mandate was contained in a government decree extending the state of emergency until Jan. 31. It requires residents to have masks on them at all times outdoors, and wear them unless they can guarantee that they can remain completely isolated from anyone other than family. That effectively makes them obligatory outdoors in all urban and semi-urban settings, with exemptions for eating in restaurants and bars.

Andalucia registers 30 deaths from coronavirus in a single day, the highest figure since May 1: {Translated from https://seville.abc.es}
Black Tuesday in Andalusia. The community has registered this Tuesday 30 deaths from coronavirus . This is the highest figure since May 1, the community thus doubles the number of fatalities since Monday, when 16 were registered. However, if compared to the previous seven days, the growth is not so high. At least in four days of last week the 20 deaths from Covid-19 were exceeded.
The dead are concentrated mainly in the province of Seville, where up to eleven deaths have been registered in the last 24 hours. In Jaén there have been seven; in Malaga, six; in Córdoba four have been scored; and in the province of Granada, two.
As for the number of infections, the figure for this Tuesday is 1,788 new cases if compared to yesterday’s data. However, the Ministry of Health has changed the way in which positives are counted and has included those confirmed by antigen tests in the last 24 hours. In this way, there are 300 more cases that, in reality, do not correspond to today .
Thus, the real number of new infections in Andalusia this Tuesday is 1,455. Most of them are concentrated in the province of Seville, where there are 494 positives . It is followed by Granada in number of cases, where 235 positives have been registered.
Behind are Malaga, with 179; Cádiz, with 174; Córdoba, with 142; Jaén, with 138; Almería, with 70; and Huelva, with only 29 new cases since this Monday. The French police are investigating possible crimes of organized fraud and sports corruption linked to a first round match at Roland Garros , the third ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, the Paris Prosecutor’s Office confirmed on Tuesday.
The confirmation came a day after the German newspaper Die Welt and the French sports newspaper L’Equipe reported that police were investigating a first-round match in the women’s doubles competition. Reports said that a particular game in the match in question had raised suspicions.
The prosecutor’s office did not provide details on what was suspected other than possible charges. The investigation was opened on October 1 and was being carried out by a police department specializing in gambling and horse racing.

Two kittens looking for a loving home: Last weekend someone dumped two kittens in my garden. The kittens are very affectionate and used to humans. That means that someone has had them for several time and suddenly decided to dump them in someone elses garden! It makes me furious. The kittens can´t help it and perhaps it is even better that they have been released from someone who isn´t able to treat living beings in a responsible way. Monday I took them to the vet. The cats (male, ginger and female, sand coloured) are well fed and about 6 months old. They have been treated for worms and had an antibiotic injection. For several reasons I can´t keep them. So is there anyone in Digameland who is willing to give these adorable creatures (just one or perhaps the both) a loving home?

Covid-19 Update- Four people die from Covid in the last day in Andalusia, 19 less than on Friday: {Full article translated from https://seville.abc.es} Updated 04/10/2020 17:41h
-Another outbreak is declared in a reception center of the Red Cross of Almería, with 31 infected.
-Second consecutive day with less than a thousand hospitalized for Covid-19 in Andalusia.
-Four people died on Saturday in Andalusia from coronavirus, 19 less than on Friday, which means that the deaths from Covid-19 plummet, exactly 83%, according to sources from the Ministry of Health and Families of the autonomous community. The latest deaths from coronavirus have taken place in the province of Almería (2) -one of them in a nursing home- and in Córdoba (2). The deaths so far by Covid-19 in the community already amount to 1,910.
-Regarding hospitalizations, they have increased by 53 in the last 24 hours , currently standing at 998 patients in Andalusian health centers, with which the community has been hospitalized for two consecutive days. Of the total of admitted, 156 (16%) are in intensive care units (ICU).
-33% of those hospitalized are in Seville and 16% in Malaga . Of the infections in the ICU, the provinces with the highest number are Seville, Malaga and Cádiz.

With an initial budget of 9 million euros , the decree establishes that the available credits can be expanded later in the event that the aid runs out and without the need to open new calls for incentives, so it is expected that it will initially benefit some 9,400 self-employed workers .

Requirements to apply for aid to the self-employed
Self-employed workers with registered office in Andalusia , who are registered in the Special Social Security Scheme of the group on March 14, when the state of alarm was declared, and who maintain the registration four months from the start date of the call for aid.

The Spanish Health Ministry on Thursday reported that 9,419 new coronavirus cases have been detected in Spain, down 1,597 from the day before. The number of new Covid-19-related fatalities, however, rose by five from Wednesday to 182. Bar Familia in Riogordo: I went to Bar Familia in Riogordo, fantastic friendly service, great atmosphere and superb food, especially the Sunday Roasts! I had a choice of beef or chicken and I chose the beef which Diane cooked to my liking. It was fabulous, plenty of food and great value for money. You do have to book a Sunday roast but it is well worth it. On the whole a great place to eat and drink that is truly ‘family’ run with Andy, Diane, Nick and Eliza. I thoroughly recommend it! BREXIT- EU starts legal action against UK over deal breach plan: The EU has begun legal proceedings against the UK after it refused to ditch plans to override sections of its Brexit divorce deal. An EU deadline for the government to remove sections of the Internal Market Bill expired on Wednesday.
The “letter of formal notice” could eventually lead to a court case against the UK at the European Court of Justice, the EU’s top court. But the EU has not walked away from talks over a post-Brexit trade deal.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said the UK would have until the end of November to respond to the EU’s concerns over the draft legislation.

AC/DC announces reunion 40 years after ‘Back in Black’: Los Angeles, US, Sep 30 (efe-epa).- After weeks of teasing on their social media channels, Australian rock band AC/DC confirmed Wednesday that they are returning to music with a mostly original line-up. A series of short videos posted to their social media feeds had shown their signature red lightning bolt flickering back to life, until a photo of the line-up came Wednesday.
“Are you ready? #PWRUP,” the band posted alongside a photo of the new composition of the band with its original members: vocalist Brian Johnson, drummer Phil Rudd and bassist Cliff Williams, now with Angus Young and Stevie Young (deceased guitarist Malcolm Young’s nephew) on guitars.

How to keep your Whatsapp Chats safe: You may have heard that Whatsapp chat conversations are being accessed by third parties (as reported here previously), while WhatsApp claims the chats between one-to-one are end to end encrypted.
So how is it possible that WhatsApp chats are accessed by third parties? Well, WhatsApp gives users a feature to back up the chats to cloud storage, which means the chats stored on your phone are uploaded to the cloud. As far as backups are concerned WhatsApp says that chats stored on cloud, be it iCloud or Google Drive, are not protected by WhatsApp’s end-to-end encryption. (There are other ways your WhatsApp data can be accessed and modified by hackers beyond the scope of this article. -Ed.)

Andalusia offers free ‘coronavirus insurance’ to entice holidaymakers back: Having already announced a voucher with a 25 percent reduction on trips for domestic tourists, Community Tourism Councillor Juan Marín announced this week that tourist insurance will cover hospital and hotel expenses for international travellers if they are infected by COVID-19 during their stay.

Plastic straws, cotton buds and stirrers banned in England from today: The legislation should have come into force in April but it was put back because of the coronavirus pandemic. From today, it is illegal in almost all circumstances for businesses to give them out to customers, with exemptions in place to protect disabled people and those with medical conditions who require plastic straws.
Pre-pandemic the UK was going through almost five billion straws annually, 316 million plastic stirrers and 1.8 billion cotton buds.

The Swiss city of Geneva is to introduce a minimum wage of £3,500 a month: The minimum hourly wage will be set at just under £19.50 an hour, more than twice the rate in neighbouring France, with a guaranteed minimum monthly salary of 4,086 Swiss francs (£3,457) based on a 41-hour working week, or 49,000 Swiss francs (£41,430) a year, in one of the world’s most expensive cities to live. The minimum wage rise was approved by just over 58% of Geneva voters and the measure will come into effect on 17 October, after having been defeated twice in the past.
The UK’s national living wage, the minimum paid to workers over the age of 25, is £8.72. The minimum wage for those younger and apprentices ranges from £4.15 to £8.20 an hour.
In France, the minimum wage is €10.15 (£9.28) an hour and €1,539,42 (£1,407.25) a month for a 35-hour working week.
On France 3 television it was reported that the measure came after the Swiss city, whose economy depends on tourist and business visitors, had been hit particularly hard by the Covid-19 epidemic with concern about growing queues of people outside food banks. I want my hand-made work to be seen as a welcome escape from the manufactured anxieties and antagonisms of today. So here are pictures of life’s unguarded moments, portraits of human character and attitude, landscapes of stillness and solitude, and images conjuring up memories and dreams.
My style is influenced by comics panels and Japanese woodcuts. Ink line and wash are used to set down shapes, tones and textures. Colours washes are overlaid to build up a graphic effect in-depth. I am an award-winning UK artist now living and working in Andalusia. Formerly an architect-illustrator with an international portfolio of clients, I have in recent years exhibited at the Mall and Anise Galleries in London, the National Waterfront Museum, the Oriel Ynyws Mon, and the Royal Cambrian Academy, all in Wales.

Coby Bloemsma in Ruta del Arte Frigiliana: Tomorrow the Ruta del Arte starts in Frigiliana. Its an art walk where 40 artists will showing their work in 35 different locations in the lovely streets of Frigiliana.
Torrox based artist Coby Bloemsma will be exhibiting her latest paintings and objects in lokal 22 on Calle Real, the main street through the village. Her painting shown here is called” Golden Boots”. It’s a mixture of different media on paper, size 69 x 48cm, framed, for sale in Frigiliana.
The art walk is on for 3 consecutive days: this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The opening times are 11 to 2 in the morning and 4 to 7 in the afternoon. UKTVEverywhere IPTV Service Shutting Down: UKTVEverywhere, an IPTV service that streamed UK TV channels globally, has reached a shutdown settlement with the BBC and ITV. After being championed as a great platform by business giant Lord Sugar and outspoken broadcaster Piers Morgan, the domain of UKTVEverywhere is now in the hands of Britbox, the digital subscription service owned by the BBC and ITV.
As many expected, the demise of the service was linked to legal action by BBC Studios and ITV, a fact now confirmed by a message on the site’s homepage. “This domain name has been transferred to the BBC and ITV in settlement of their copyright dispute against its former owner,” it reads. “BBC One, BBC Two, BBC iPlayer, along with ITV and ITV Hub are not lawfully available outside of the UK. It is an infringement of copyright to distribute, publicly perform or reproduce the content on these channels, without the consent of the respective copyright owners, or to induce such infringement.” (see pic)
A joint statement from the BBC and ITV explains.
“As producers and distributors of premium content, we have the right and obligation to take action against piracy, in accordance with relevant laws in the territories we operate. Ensuring that our content is viewed legally, equally ensures we will be able to bring our viewers the programs they love and expect,” the companies say.
“BBC Studios and ITV both produce thousands of hours of quality British programming, which in turn gives vital employment to writers, producers, cast and crew. Axarquia ecologists file complaint for closure of Aerodrome in Velez-Malaga: Axarquia Nature Studies Office (GENA) have pushed for the definitive closure of the Velez-Malaga Aerodrome, which belongs to the Real Aeroclub de Malaga, after various complaints due to noise pollution and dangers of aeroplane flights.

-The Board begins the screening with massive tests in eleven localities with high incidence in Seville, Jaén, Almería, Córdoba and Málaga
-Coronavirus Andalusia: fewer infections than a week ago but mortality increases
-The Andalusian Government recommends reducing family gatherings to six people in the community.
-It has been decided to restrict mobility in the Sevillian town of Casariche due to the high incidence of the coronavirus pandemic. Thus, during the next 14 days, residents will not be able to leave their homes except for health care, attendance at educational centers, renewal of permits, bank or notarial procedures, attendance at official tests and exams or force majeure. This measure joins those that the City Council can take in terms of capacity, meetings, establishment hours, etc.
The closure of this municipality aims to stop the wave of infections by Covid-19 that is increasing instead of decreasing. Casariche has a rate of 254 positives in the last 14 days and 146 in the last seven, which shows an increase in infections.
This Sevillian town is the one with the toughest measures to fight the pandemic, but there are eleven other municipalities that also have a rate of more than 500 cases per one hundred thousand inhabitants. Likewise, a massive screening of rapid antigen tests will be carried out in eleven municipalities : Pulpí, in Almería; Almodóvar del Río, in Córdoba: Jamilena, Los Villares and Linares, in Jaén; Villaverde del Río, Arahal, Paradas and La Campana, in Seville and Sierra de Yeguas and Villanueva de la Concepción, in Malaga.
At the moment, there will be no applied special prevention measures in the Cordovan town of Lucena due to a better evolution of the pandemic in recent days. The same happens with Utrera, a Sevillian town whose mayor has asked the Board for more restrictive measures. However, epidemiological criteria do not recommend new drastic measures, beyond the restrictions that are being approved by the city council led by José María Villalobos.
-The restrictions on the number of people recommended by the Andalusian Government, which at the moment are not mandatory, do not apply to the hotel industry or to weddings, baptisms and communions that continue to maintain the same limits.
The reason for this discrimination has been explained by the Health Minister, Jesús Aguirre, who has detailed that “80% of new infections occur in family homes , in living rooms at home.” Although he has detailed that it is not ruled out to continue taking restrictive measures, “if the epidemiological situation demands it.”
-Isolated: The Health Minister has also detailed the number of people who are isolated by the coronavirus. According to official data, there are 11,555 people isolated in their homes for having tested positive for coronavirus, although they have not needed hospitalization.
In addition, there are another 26,321 Andalusians who are in preventive isolation at home waiting to obtain the PCR results or because they have had some contact with positives and this has been recommended.
