The terral will be strong in Malaga from Wednesday, above 40 degrees Celsius: {Translation}

Edward Snowden says OpenAI just performed a ‘calculated betrayal of the rights of every person on Earth’:
– Last week, ChatGPT creator OpenAI announced that it had appointed retired US Army General and former National Security Administration (NSA) Director Paul Nakasone, who also helmed the military’s cybersecurity-focused Cyber Command unit, to its board.
– “General Nakasone’s unparalleled experience in areas like cybersecurity,” OpenAI board chair Bret Taylor said in a statement, “will help guide OpenAI in achieving its mission of ensuring artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity.”
– But not everyone is thrilled about Nakasone’s new role at the AI firm, which will also see the former general seated at OpenAI’s Safety and Security Committee. The NSA has long been associated with surveillance of US citizens, and AI-embedded technologies are already renewing and escalating existing surveillance concerns. With that in mind, it might be unsurprising that former NSA employee and famed whistle-blower Edward Snowden {pic} is among the OpenAI appointment’s outspoken detractors.

Vietnam is the most affordable country for expats in 2024, according to a new report “Life here is stress-free”, no European country on the list:
– When deciding whether to move overseas for life or work, one of the biggest factors to consider is personal finances.
– For the fourth consecutive year, Vietnam is the most affordable country in the world for expats, ranking first out of 53 destinations when it comes to personal finances, according to a 2024 InterNations study.
– To be clear, out of 53 places, it came in 40 for quality of life, 29 for expat essentials such as digital life, housing and language, and ranked 14 for working abroad — with considerations like career prospects, salary and job security factored in.
– Here are the top 10 destinations expats say are best for their personal finances:

– Out of surveyed expats living in Vietnam, 86% rate its cost of living favorably — that’s more than twice the global average of 40%, and 65% of respondents in the country say they are satisfied with their financial situation compared to 54% globally, according to the report.
– In addition, 68% of respondents say their disposable household income is more than enough to lead a comfortable life, compared to 41% globally, the survey showed.
– Generally, “work-life balance trumps career advancement” in Vietnam, according to the report. The PP’s demands come after yesterday the popular leader, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, asked the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, for help from the EU “to control immigration”. “I am concerned about the increase in illegal immigrants in Spain,” said the PP leader on Wednesday, who has also toughened his position on the reception of unaccompanied minors after meeting on Monday with the main regional presidents of the PP, several of whom are very reluctant to accept more minors, arguing that their systems are collapsed.
– The PP’s parliamentary spokesman, Miguel Tellado, today urged Pedro Sánchez’s government, firstly, to “lean on the EU and ask for help”, and secondly, to “deal with the problem of irregular immigration at source, so that these boats do not leave”. In an interview on Antena 3, Tellado added: “The Government can use the Armed Forces to defend our borders and deploy a series of boats to prevent these cayucos, these boats that put the lives of the people on them at risk, from leaving the sea and finally reaching our country”.
– The PP’s proposal to deploy the Armed Forces against irregular immigration is very similar to what Vox has been proposing for years. Vox called in Congress for the activation of the National Defence Law and the National Security Law to allow warships to prevent the entry of boats carrying immigrants into Spanish territorial waters. This Thursday, the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has branded the position of the Popular Party as false: “The PP is swindling its voters. It voted in favour of regularising half a million people. The PP is responsible for the “call effect” (attracting new migrants). Mr Feijóo is saying that the minors must be distributed throughout Spain and that leads to the call effect. On the one hand they say that the call effect must be avoided and then they vote for the call effect to take place. And then, of course, we have to take on board Vox’s proposals, such as sending the navy to monitor the seas and combat human trafficking”, he said.
– In November 2020, Admiral Teodoro López Calderón, Chief of Staff of the Spanish Navy (AJEMA), ruled out Vox’s proposal to apply a naval blockade. And he pointed out that the “legal and moral” obligation of a warship in the event of encountering a patera would be to rescue its occupants, not to impede its advance. Moreover, proposing the deployment of “a series of vessels to prevent these cayucos from leaving”, as Tellado says, implies taking for granted that African countries would accept foreign military patrolling their coasts without an agreement of mutual interest. Spain has already deployed the Guardia Civil in Mauritania to help that country, after reaching an agreement with its authorities.
– Irregular immigration is on the rise in Spain, in line with the rest of Europe’s borders, which are under pressure, among other things, from worsening conflicts in the Sahel, Sudan and Syria. In 2023, Spain closed with almost 57,000 irregular entries (82% more than the previous year), a rise that can be explained by a new reactivation of the Canary Islands route. The focus this year is also on the islands, where more than 19,000 people have arrived, almost 80 per cent of those who have managed to enter irregularly throughout the country. The main departure points for the boats to Spain are Mauritania, Morocco, Senegal and Algeria. Sánchez’s 1984 World- His media censorship plan to silence critics of his radical agenda violates the European standard to which he clings: {Translation, summary}
– The regulation that the EU approved during its current presidency is to protect journalists, not to censor them!
– In addition, it is mandatory for all countries and prevails over national law, such as the one now announced by the Government!!
– Pedro Sánchez, in an interview on Cadena Ser on Monday, spoke again about the implementation of his “democratic regeneration plan” {Yikes! Whenever radical socialists say they want to regenerate democracy, expect trouble. Remember Pol Pot ?} and some of the measures he intends to adopt. Once again, he used the European Media Freedom Act (EMFA) as an alibi to justify the need to do so. It so happens that this regulation was approved under the Spanish presidency of the EU Council and that its original spirit was precisely to protect Western democracies from populist drifts such as those of Viktor Orbán in Hungary or Jaroslaw Kaczynsky in Poland.
– Its vocation was never to exercise control over the press, limiting its freedom, but rather to protect journalists and the media from possible political interference. Some of the measures announced by Pedro Sánchez, as well as some of the decisions and attitudes displayed by him and his entourage, are in serious conflict with the same European regulation under which he claims to protect himself. Here are some examples of the abuses:
– “Transposing” a law that does not require it. The government and the president insist that their regeneration plan consists of “transposing the new media freedom law that was approved in April in the European Parliament” (orig. «trasponer la nueva ley de libertad de los medios de comunicación que fue aprobada en abril en el Parlamento Europeo»). {What the heck does “transposing a law” even mean? -Ed.} The truth is that the aforementioned regulation does not need to be transposed, as it is a directly applicable regulation and its legal status is superior to that of the national and regional laws of the Member States.
– Tackling the “impunity of the pseudo-media”. (Pseudo-media meaning all those that do not support the Sanchez agenda.)
– Control of state advertising- only funding his supporters.
– Ignoring editorial freedom and independence.
– Forced depoliticization of public media.

Farmers denounce the “brutal” increase in the price of irrigation water in Axarquía: {Translation, summary}
– Regenerated water from the treatment plants of La Axarquía and Peñón del Cuervo {pic} in the capital of Málaga is barely maintaining the struggling farms, that until just a few years ago were a flourishing subtropical sector in the eastern region of Málaga, where an estimated 14,000 hectares are already cultivated with mangoes and avocados.
– Fortunately for the area’s farmers, after the ‘miraculous’ rains last Easter, they can breathe a sigh of relief after the water supply from the dam was re-established for this summer. Thus, almost two years later, until 27 September, the producers will have a maximum flow of three cubic hectometres, which means around 459 cubic metres per hectare. The Minister is clear that illegal tourist flats must be prosecuted and clear regulatory measures must be taken and, above all, the mechanisms of the Housing Law must be used to cap rental prices according to the reference indexes set by the Government. Two arrested for kidnapping and torturing a man for eleven days on a farm in Torrox: {Translation, summary}
– The National Police have arrested two men, aged 39 and 43, both of French nationality, for their alleged responsibility in the eleven-day kidnapping of a Maghrebi citizen, who had a piece of his ear cut off during his captivity on a farm in Torrox (Malaga). The captors sent the victim’s family a video of the mutilation and, based on it, demanded 1,400,000 euros for the ransom.
– Although it has not been revealed whether the victim’s entourage agreed to the economic demands of a network related to drug trafficking, the kidnapped man was eventually released in an isolated spot in the municipality of Mijas (Málaga), with numerous injuries that showed signs of the torture to which he had been subjected. In a search of the home of one of the arrested men, in Estepona (Malaga), the agents seized an assault rifle -Ak-47-, three pistols and half a thousand cartridges of different calibres, among other effects. For its part, the competent judicial authority has ordered the provisional imprisonment of the two suspects.

Óscar Medina demands that the Government rectify and not marginalize the Eastern Costa del Sol from meetings to improve mobility along the Malaga coastline: {Translation}

Warning of the “alarming” lack of nurses in Malaga this summer- “The situation is critical”: {Translation}

The Regional Minister for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Loles López, has revealed that since last November the Spanish Government has transferred 454 migrants considered adults from the Canary Islands to Andalusia, who once they were in this community it was concluded that they were minors, so the community took charge of their guardianship.
– This circumstance has collapsed the capacity of the regional administration to attend to these children and adolescents, which is already at 115 percent.

The works have had a completion period of one month and have resulted in substantial improvements for agricultural irrigation in the area.
– The president of Axaragua stressed that this initiative is complementary to the one carried out by the Junta de Andalucía, which invested in the tertiary treatment of four wastewater treatment plants in Axarquia for the use of reclaimed water. “We have gone a step further and have managed to use the entire volume of reclaimed water from the IARA and Manzano treatment plants, guaranteeing irrigation to the five irrigation communities regardless of their location,” explained Martín.
– The main action consisted of the installation of a new pumping station that connects the Manzano treatment plant with the Iara treatment plant by means of a five-kilometre pipeline. This infrastructure makes it possible to use all the reclaimed water without wasting a single cubic metre into the sea. At present, the Iara treatment plant was supplying water to communities located to the west, such as El Sindicato, Río de la Plata and Santiago El Morche, which did not require all the available flow, causing a surplus of 640 cubic metres. – Former women’s association members have started a petition against The Reggaeton Beach Festival (RBF) due to take place on Nerja’s Playazo beach on the eastern stretch of the Costa del Sol on Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 July. A number of former members of the now defunct Feministas de Nerja group have started collecting signatures via social media against the festival, which they are calling “an affront to women’s rights”.
– The women have voiced their “absolute rejection and repulsion” for the ‘reggaeton’ festival that the town’s youth council has organised. “The festival will feature well-known national artists of this musical style. As feminist women we want to show that the choice of this festival is an affront to women’s rights, because the lyrics are a synthesis of a culture that incites rape, sexual assault and shows absolute contempt for the identity and freedom of women,” the group’s social media presence says.
– The group has called on the town hall, “who have the good will to celebrate International Women’s Day, the day of the fight against gender violence, as well as to carry out workshops to promote equality, not to betray the rights of women, with festivals like the one programmed”. What is Reggaeton music, and why does it upset local feminists?: {Britannica}
– Reggaeton, {a} genre of music largely shaped by the African diaspora, blending such styles as dancehall from Jamaica, reggae en español from Panama, el underground from Puerto Rico, and hip-hop from the United States. Reggaeton’s signature characteristics include a beat called “dem bow” and lyrics sung primarily in Spanish.
– Although the beginnings of reggaeton are disputed, many historians point to Panama City, where the descendants of West Indian workers, many of whom had emigrated from Jamaica and Barbados to help build the Panama Canal, created a new type of music called reggae en español. It arose in the early 1980s when MCs, including Leonardo (“Renato”) Aulder and Edgardo Franco (who would later be known as El General), began translating Jamaican dancehall, an updated form of reggae that had become popular in the 1970s, to Spanish.
– Although the performers covered many English-language songs, they also created a few of the genre’s earliest hits, including Renato’s “El D.E.N.I.” (1985). The song speaks to the unique discrimination Black English-speaking Panamanians often experienced. About the same time, hip-hop was growing in the United States, and artists from New York City were rapping about racism in that country.
– One of that genre’s earliest hits, “The Message” (1982) by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five {vid}, recounts the troubles of living in an underfunded inner-city neighbourhood. Hip-hop soon spread to Puerto Rico, where performers, notably Vico C in San Juan, began rapping in Spanish. By the 1990s both hip-hop in Spanish and reggae en español had converged on the island, forming a type of music called underground.
– Underground was cultivated in nightclubs, notably at The Noise, which was founded by DJ Negro. The Noise was where Ivy Queen, one of the few women in the male-dominated genre, Daddy Yankee, and other future reggaeton performers tested their talents. It was also the spot for the perreo, a sexual dance move that soon became associated with the music. Like reggae en español and hip-hop in Spanish, underground was known for having homophobic, misogynistic, and sexually explicit lyrics.
– However, it also addressed racism and life in the caseríos, the low-income housing projects on the island. Indeed, during the 1990s underground singers and listeners, many of whom lived in the caseríos, were targeted as drug dealers and other criminals during the government’s anti-crime campaign, Mano Dura Contra el Crimen (“Iron Fist Against Crime”). Yet the initiative only grew underground’s popularity and strengthened its reputation as a music of resistance.
– At about the turn of the 21st century, underground became known as reggaeton. LaLiga Demands €450 After ISPs Log Subscriber’s Visits to Pirate Servers:
– This February, Spanish football league LaLiga obtained a court order that supposedly allowed it to pursue mere viewers of pirate IPTV. Torrox ‘Vive el verano’ (Live the summer) with concerts, open-air shows and summer cinema: {Translation}

Councillors in Vélez-Málaga unanimously approved a motion to suspend controversial mobile phone mast project:
– Vélez-Málaga town hall on the eastern stretch of the Costa del Sol approved the immediate suspension of work to install a new mobile phone mast in the coastal village of Almayate during its last council meeting on Friday 28 June.
The move comes after protests by local residents that started in May.
– Councillors voted in favour of suspending the plans until the corresponding bureaucratic procedures are completed as “some documents are missing”. The motion calls on the ministry for industry to review the licence granted for the mast.
– Residents have voiced concerns that the pole would be located less than 200 metres from their homes, a primary school, a nursery and a library. However, at the time the owner of the plot of land where the mast is to be installed replied that Vodafone, the mobile phone company installing the mast “has all the permits”.
– During Friday’s meeting there was a verbal confrontation between the spokesman for Andalucía por Sí, José Pino, and the mayor of Velez, Jesús Lupiáñez (PP). – The European Commission has accused Mark Zuckerberg’s Meta of breaching the EU’s new digital laws with an advertising model that charges users for ad-free versions of Facebook and Instagram.
– Meta launched a “pay or consent” model last year in an effort to comply with the bloc’s data privacy rules, under which users pay a monthly fee for an ad-free version of Facebook or Instagram that does not use their personal data for advertising purposes. If users do not pay, their data is used to tailor personalised adverts that appear in their social media feeds {…by sharing the data with thousands of Meta business partners}.
– The European Commission, the EU’s executive body, said the model did not comply with the Digital Markets Act (DMA), which is designed to rein in big tech companies. The commission issued preliminary findings from an investigation into “pay or consent” on Monday and found the model “forces users to consent” to their data being collected from multiple platforms if they don’t want to pay. Meta also does not allow users to choose a service that uses less of their data but is broadly similar to the “with adverts” versions of Facebook and Instagram, the commission said.

Helping Parents Protect Kid’s Online Activities & Slow The Huge Spike In Sex-related Violence Among Youth – Viewing Porn In Spain Will Soon Require Registering Your ID With The Gov’t & Installing Their App “Cartera Digital”: {Translation, summary}
– The government on Monday presented the technical characteristics of the tool it hopes to use to prevent minors from accessing pornography on the Internet. The solution will take the form of a mobile phone application that will verify the age of each user when they request access to an adult content platform. It will be called “Cartera Digital” (Digital Wallet).
– The Minister for Digital Transformation, José Luis Escrivá, explained that the first version of the app will be available “after the summer”. From then on, the government will begin to require porn websites to incorporate this solution to verify the age of those who visit them, which in practice will make the app compulsory for all users who wish to access this type of content from Spain.

In the first step, the user will have to register in Cartera Digital with the electronic ID card, the Cl@ve system, a digital certificate or other valid identity verification solutions for government procedures. – Escrivá framed this initiative within the “more than necessary national agreement to safeguard the health of minors”. In this regard, the minister shared data on the impact of pornography on minors and related it to the increase in sexual assaults in this age group, which has risen by 116% in the last five years.
– According to figures provided by the Executive, the first access to pornography in Spain is now between the ages of 9 and 11. From adolescence onwards, 70% of minors consume pornography “on a regular basis”, mainly via mobile phones.
– This consumption has an impact on the way they conceive intimate relationships, generating “emotional and sexual problems”, a “distorted perception of sexuality” and a “serious risk of addiction”, Escrivá said. At the moment, 90% of young adults (aged 18 to 26) consider porn to be “faithful to reality”, 50% of them “act by imitation and sometimes by domination” and almost a third recognise that the adult content they see on the internet is “their only form of affective-sexual information”. – 0patch, a paid subscription service, announced today that it plans to offer security patches for Windows 10 for at least five years after its official end of life, giving customers a chance to stick to their current devices without significant security compromises. With 0patch, Windows 10 users will be getting fixes for critical security vulnerabilities discovered after October 14, 2025 (that is when Windows 10 will receive its final free update).

Man arrested in connection with 25 luxury property burglaries:
– A man has been arrested and a woman investigated for their alleged role in 25 burglaries of luxury homes in Mijas and Marbella. Guardia Civil officers launched their investigation following a spate of thefts from luxury homes on the Costa del Sol, where they found 19 were committed in the town of Mijas and six in the municipality of Marbella.
– According to the police force, the suspects allegedly cased out the houses and targeted those which were used by their owners as second homes. They then allegedly burgled the properties when the property owners were away and stole jewellery and money.
– The alleged suspect was located and a search was carried out in a house in Mijas where various items of jewellery from different burglaries and 14,695 euros in cash were discovered. Man found dead in Nerja cave:
– The alarm was raised just after 4.30pm Tuesday when the 112 Andalucía emergency service number received a call about a dead person in a cave located next to the riverbed of the Nerja river, next to the municipal sports centre. Immediately the Local Police, Guardia Civil and emergency health services were notified. Guardia Civil officers were responsible for carrying out a visual inspection of the area. How to claim up to 3,000 euros for mortgage costs after the Supreme Court ruling: {Translation}
– If you signed a mortgage loan before 2019, it is possible that the bank forced you to pay the costs associated with signing the mortgage: appraisal fees, agency, registration or notary fees… costs that, in 2015, the Supreme Court ruled as abusive costs. The Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) ruled that same year that banks should return, to all consumers who so requested, the vast majority of these costs: an average of between 1,500 euros and 3,000 euros in each case, as explained by the Association of Financial Users (Asufin).
– While this right was previously subject to certain deadlines, a new Supreme Court ruling (which endorses the criteria of the CJEU) establishes that it will be possible to claim these abusive expenses from the moment a court declares the nullity of the clause of these payments, which can be demanded even if the mortgage has already been paid, amortised or cancelled.

These costs, according to the new law, correspond to the bank with which the loan is signed, and not to the clients, so successive rulings have established that the banks must return this money to their clients.
– Until when can a claim be made? The new ruling establishes that customers will be able to claim the mortgage expenses of these concepts from the bank after a ruling that establishes these expenses and obliges them to be returned, as long as they were not aware of the imputation of these expenses, and regardless of the age of the mortgage or whether it has already been amortised or cancelled. The deadline for doing so will be five years from the date of said court ruling, in which the consumer may request the return of the charges plus the legal interest.
– How to request the return of the abusive charges?
To claim these amounts, if you have been affected, the best thing to do is to first inquire at the bank with which you have taken out the mortgage loan. If there is no satisfactory response, there are other alternatives where you can claim this right: the Bank of Spain’s claims service or the courts.
– In addition to your ID card, you will need to provide the mortgage deed (where the imposition of these payments must be stated), the invoice from the notary or the deed from the land registry, as well as from the agency or appraisal and the amount of the registration: proof of these unjustified charges. HERE WE GO AGAIN! – Finland to start bird flu vaccinations for humans, in world first:
– Finland plans to offer preemptive bird flu vaccination as soon as next week to some workers with exposure to animals, health authorities said on Tuesday, making it the first country in the world to do so.
– The Nordic country has bought vaccines for 10,000 people, each consisting of two injections, as part of a joint EU procurement of up to 40 million doses for 15 nations from manufacturer CSL Seqirus. The Australian company in a statement to Reuters said Finland would be the first country to roll out the vaccine. “The vaccine will be offered to those aged 18 or over who are at increased risk of contracting avian influenza due to their work or other circumstances,” the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) said in a statement.
– Finland has not detected the virus in humans, THL said. However, the country is eager to roll out vaccinations given transmission risks posed by its fur farms. “The conditions in Finland are very different in that we have fur farms where the animals can end up in contact with wildlife,” Chief Physician Hanna Nohynek at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) told Reuters. Widespread outbreaks of bird flu among mink and foxes at Finland’s mostly open-air fur farms led to the culling last year of some 485,000 animals to stop the virus from spreading among the animals as well as to humans. Imserso 2024-25, Four-day getaways at 124 euros from July 1: {Translation, summary}
– Four-day getaways to Spanish capitals for 124.68 euros, eight-day stays in the Balearic Islands for 210.47 euros or ten-day trips to the Canary Islands for 435.95 euros (the most expensive of the package). These are some of the Imserso offers that Spanish pensioners over the age of 65 can take advantage of, available for purchase for only 3 weeks, from Monday 1 July until Monday 22 July (both inclusive).
– These trips will take place from October onwards, as stated in the BOE (Official State Gazette). The conditions are detailed in the same, so that it will not be necessary for people accredited to travel from previous seasons to fill out a new application, as they will receive a document containing their personal details and destination preference. However, should they wish to modify any of these details, they must return it to the Imserso within this period.
– In order to submit these new applications, it is recommended that they be submitted electronically through the Imserso website [ https://imserso.es/web/imserso/espacio-mayores/envejecimiento-activo/programa-turismo-imserso ]. In the next few days, people already accredited in the Imserso database for their participation in the new programme will receive renewal letters at their homes, including the data modification forms, so that, if necessary, they can communicate any changes in their data in order to participate in the next 2024-2025 season.
– This programme includes full board accommodation in double rooms to be shared in hotels selected by the Imserso. In provincial capitals, accommodation will be on a half-board basis and accommodation in a single room is also included, although there will be a supplement per night and per destination area.
– It provides for a group insurance policy, a general medical service, complementary to the Social Security system, in the hotel itself, and a programme of social and cultural activities.
– The Imserso recently confirmed that it will extend the current Tourism programme for the 2024/2025 season, which will be managed for another year by Ávoris Corporación Empresarial, in association with Halcón Viajes, but with “the commitment to improve some conditions” that “have not been fulfilled” this year, as the sector has been complaining for some months.
