High temperatures return to Andalusia this week, with temperatures reaching 46 degrees Celsius: {Translation, summary} 07/08/2023, 13:57 – Andalusia will experience this week its fourth episode of summer high temperatures, with the hottest day in the community on Wednesday, a day that will reach 45 degrees Celsius in the provinces of Cordoba and Jaen, although the State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) does not rule out that they can reach 46 degrees. – Delegate of the Aemet in Andalusia, Ceuta and Melilla, Juan de Dios del Pino, has detailed that this episode of high temperatures, is due to “a centre of high pressure in Morocco and a centre of low pressure off the Portuguese coast”. This mass of warm air will enter through the Guadalquivir Valley and will gradually move up the peninsula, being the provinces of western Andalusia the first affected. – As for the maximums, Del Pino said that Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week. In this case you’ll have to delete the app, ironically called SafeChat, manually. – The report warned: ‘If the spyware is enabled, then it can be remotely controlled and can exfiltrate various sensitive device data, such as contacts, SMS messages, call logs, a list of installed apps, device location, device accounts. Paid Access To Río Chíllar Being Discussed: {Translation, summary} – The Chíllar River in the town of Nerja is experiencing a significant increase in visitors this summer, which is causing serious congestion in its middle and upper channel. Although the regulation promised by the Junta de Andalucía has been pending for several years and the Town Council of Nerja has repeatedly urged its implementation, nothing came of it. Now a company has shown interest in taking over the management of this regulation. The mayor of Nerja, José Alberto Armijo, announced this development after a meeting with the delegate of the Junta in Malaga, Patricia Navarro. – The mayor said that a forthcoming meeting will be held with representatives of the Public Hydraulic Domain (DPH) of the Board to advance in the possible regulation and control of access to the natural site of the Chíllar River, which is part of the park of the Sierras Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama. – In this possible solution, the private company would be in charge of managing access, surveillance and maintenance of the Chíllar River, which would allow controlling the flow of visitors. It is expected that in the future visitors would have to pay for access, similar to the scheme used in the Caminito del Rey. Sorry for any inconvenience. -High Season Parking: After some heavy lifting, measuring and painting the first two-thirds of the Minigolf La Herradura plot is now home to 20 parking spaces available for daily parking. If you are planning on spending the day in La Herradura this summer holiday, you could not ask for a more central location. There is a large bathroom available as well as a picnic table where self-catering is allowed. Security cameras cover the entire plot. You could almost call this “boutique” parking. As such I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations. -Opening Hours and Admission fee: A daily pass costs 10 euros with opening hours every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The price of admission includes unlimited access to the Minigolf course itself with parking included subject to availability. -Minigolf has added an additional nine holes: The full 18-hole course is complete and easily playable. It has tucked in nicely at the back in the space previously used for racquet sports and one petanca lane. The only difference from before is shorter spacing from one hole to the next. The second petanca lane has been converted into what I refer to as the nine hole “guerilla” course, the reason being that you decide the layout of the holes in whatever sneaky way you prefer. Nine actual holes are provided and there are various obstacles spread about. The players then decide how they want to arrange them, and where the hole will begin. It’s a fun way to create longer “holes” criss-crossing each other and there is no wrong design. A lot of fun in a small space. -Location: We are very easy to find, albeit obscured from the beachfront Paseo Andrés Segovia. (See picture at the top. Mum is a small dog, but Lana has been estimated to be on the large size of medium. Lana gets on well with other dogs, is very intelligent, and loves people. – Dee Dee – DOB 18.03.23 – Born in kennels not long after her pregnant mum was rescued. Mum is a Bodeguero, but Dee Dee has been estimated to be medium to large in size. She is very playful, full of energy, but also very easy going. Loves her walks and is a great companion to have by your side. – These are 4 of our dogs looking for homes of their own. All are fully vaccinated, chipped and have passports. Ziggy & Pedro are both neutered, DeeDee and Lana are too young at the moment. We do ask for an adoption fee of €110 for pups that are fully vaccinated, chipped and have passports, and €180 for older dogs that are fully vaccinated, have all paperwork and have been neutered. Spain leads youth unemployment with a rate of 27%, double that of the eurozone: – The figures for youth unemployment are alarming. One out of every five unemployed people under 25 years of age is Spanish. While in the eurozone the rate fell to 13.8% in June, in Spain, it doubled to 27.4%, the highest among the twenty countries that make up the eurozone. Spain is ahead of Greece’s 23.6% and Sweden’s 21.3%. In total, 464,000 people under the age of 25 were unemployed at the end of June in Spain, 21% of all young unemployed in the eurozone. – A report published this Tuesday 1 August by Infoempleo and Adecco also revealed that half of Spanish companies have less than 15% of their workforce under 30 years of age, and that 72% have not implemented any strategy to promote youth employment in the last year. – By gender, women continue to have a higher unemployment rate than men, both in the eurozone as a whole, and in Spain. In the euro countries, the unemployment rate stood at 6.7% among women, compared to 6.1% for men, similar levels to those recorded in May. Naythan’s Mystery Illness Solved?- Warnings on spread of black fly in Spain, who’s bite could lead to hospitalization: {Translation, summary} – The National Association of Environmental Health Companies (Anecpla) urged Wednesday to carry out control tasks to prevent a black fly plague in summer after detecting an expansion of specimens, which wreak havoc with their aggressive bites. – The black fly is an endemic species in Spain. Its expansion has undergone an exponential acceleration in recent years, ever more people affected by their bites are coming to health centers. – It is a hematophagous fly, the black fly needs to consume blood to complete its life cycle. Lacking a stinger, this insect bites, tearing the skin of its victims with its mandibles in order to extract the blood. With this gesture it takes the opportunity to inoculate a small dose of anaesthetic, which will allow it to work quietly without the affected individual noticing for five minutes. The final effect results in a welt of several centimetres that often even bleeds, accompanied by a high swelling that can last up to a month, and may even require hospitalization. – If bitten, it is recommended to apply ice to reduce the inflammation or apply an ointment with a mild corticoid and go to the nearest health centre and report the case to avoid a worsening of the reaction. And, of course, do not scratch, as this could worsen the wound or even infect it. – The Spanish regions most affected by the presence of black flies are Andalusia, Aragon, Catalonia, Madrid, Murcia and Valencia, where this native insect of about six millimetres in length has grown to unprecedented numbers, mainly due to the increase in temperatures in recent years. He actively endorses the use of performance-enhancing drugs in athletics. “My body, my choice. Your body, your choice,” London-based businessman Aron D’Souza told The Post. – D’Souza is the president of the Enhanced Games, a series of athletic competitions, open for anyone to apply, designed with the goal of breaking world records. He hopes to bring the competition to life in December 2024 as an alternative to the “corrupt” Olympics. (French police recently raided the Paris headquarters of the 2024 Olympics as part of a corruption probe.) – Seeing it as his “moral duty to fix elite sports,” D’Souza said competitors will “be given a salary and a large cash prize for breaking a world record. China looks to limit teens 16-18 to two hours a day on their phones, far less for younger children: – China’s cyberspace regulator said on Wednesday children under the age of 18 should be limited to a maximum of two hours a day on their smartphones, sending shares in tech companies tumbling. In 2021, the government imposed a curfew for video game players under the age of 18. That dealt a huge blow to gaming giants like Tencent. – The Cyberspace Administration of China (CAC) said it wanted providers of smart devices to introduce so-called minor mode programmes that would bar users under 18 from accessing the internet on mobile devices from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. – Providers would also have to set time limits under the proposed reforms, the CAC said. Occupancy of tourist apartments in July falls below forecasts in Malaga: {Translation, summary} – It is not being the expected July for tourism in Malaga. Despite the good occupancy data, the tourist apartments are below the data expected in a month that predicted to be “historic” but now branded as “rare”. “The reservations are increasingly last minute and we have more entries almost on Mondays than on weekends, I do not know if it was the elections or what, but it has been a strange month,” says Francisco Martin, a member of the Association of Professionals of Housing and Tourist Apartments of Andalusia (AVVAPro). – The average stay drops a little, standing between 5 and 7 days, and as in recent years, the advance with which bookings are made is down again, being below 30 days, when in 2018 and 2019 in coastal areas bookings with an advance above 90 days. As for the origin of the tourists, in July 40% were of Spanish origin compared to 60% of international origin. – However, the AVVAPro spokesman emphasizes there is an increasing interest in the supply of luxury villas outside the ‘golden triangle of the Costa del Sol’. “We are seeing how there is demand for villas of between 1,000 and 4,000 euros a night in Malaga city, Benalmadena or Alhaurin de la Torre, large houses, the best level and that a few years ago were unthinkable outside Marbella, Benahavis or Estepona,” he says. SAS launches a new hospital appointment notification service: {Translation} – The Andalusian Health Service has launched a new information system, called ‘AviSAS’, which will notify citizens of appointments assigned for consultations or diagnostic tests -including imaging tests- in the hospital setting and will also send reminders of their appointments as the dates for these approach. It will also inform about possible cancellations or changes. – To receive these alerts, users must first subscribe to the system. The latest version of the ‘Salud Andalucía’ application must be installed or updated and the user must have a digital certificate, QR login or Cl@ve as a secure identification system. The subscription is done by accessing the new ‘AviSAS’ section in the App menu and activating the option for ‘Hospital Appointments’ (‘Citas hospitalarias’) notifications. In addition, you can choose the channel for receiving notifications: a notification on your mobile device -‘App Salud Andalucía’ or SMS- or e-mail. To get your card, follow this link and answer a few questions”. The link (not the Facebook page) actually leads to a scamming website, which was online under a different name a year ago. – However, when entering the users data, which included a telephone number, subscribers to the card were in for an unpleasant surprise. But you need to only allow people you personally know to connect to your device using Team Viewer, and then immediately uninstall it when the assistance is done, or you leave your device open to attack. NEVER install Team Viewer at the instruction of a stranger (… including unpaid support services, as there are many fraudulent support desks pretending to be the legit app developers. If you did not pay for the product, the price of their support is your data. Yahoo is an example that does NOT provide any free phone support, yet you will find many Yahoo support phone numbers if you do a search. They’re all fakes willing to solve your problems if you only install their support app that will allow them access to everything in your device. Not a good idea! The “war of the umbrellas” continues on the Algarrobo and Torrox beaches despite its ban: {Translation} – Algarrobo and Torrox are enforcing the ban on sun umbrellas without the owner being present. The famous ‘umbrella war’ is every year the protagonist of many beaches of our coast. Two years ago, a video of the long queue of hundreds of sunbathers on a beach in Torrevieja went viral and many town halls took action. – Algarrobo was the first municipality in the province to prohibit prior reservation on the beaches. In article 14 of the ‘Municipal ordinance for the use and enjoyment of the beaches of the municipality of Algarrobo’, it is stated that “it is forbidden to leave umbrellas, parasols, tents, parasols and other equipment without the presence of its owner, in order to reserve the physical space of the beach”. – Although Algarrobo was the pioneer in implementing this measure in 2015, it is not the only municipality in Malaga that complies with this rule. Torrox and Vélez Málaga are joining this measure. – The municipality of Torrox has taken action to put an end to this practice. Before removing the offending items to police stations, the procedure is as follows: “The police take a picture of the abandoned items and then seal the pack,” they say. – Leaving the umbrella in place is considered a minor offence, punishable by a fine of up to 300 euros. In Algarrobo, collecting your items from the Police costs 30 euros, if done within 14 calendar days. Otherwise, if they are not removed “they will be considered waste and will be “disposed of”. – In Torrox, to collect the belongings there is a penalty of 50 euros per pack. Both umbrellas, chairs, towels, if everything that was together”, indicate from the Consistory of Torrox. If you leave the umbrella and when you return it is not there, users must go to the police station and there they will know if their belongings have been removed or not. To collect them they must give a description of where they were and what they were like. According to the regulations, “objects found in this way will be removed and stored by the municipal operational services and will remain in the municipal premises for a maximum period of fourteen days”. There is a large bathroom available as well as a picnic table where self-catering is allowed. Security cameras cover the entire plot. You could almost call this “boutique” parking. As such I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations. -Opening Hours and Admission fee: A daily pass costs 10 euros with opening hours every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The price of admission includes unlimited access to the Minigolf course itself with parking included subject to availability. (You can pay for admission and only use the parking area if you like, it’s a bit too hot for Mingolf at present, but the 10€ is billed as Minigolf.) -“Guerilla” nine-hole course: The full 18-hole course is complete and easily playable. It has tucked in nicely at the back in the space previously used for racquet sports and one petanca lane. The only difference from before is shorter spacing from one hole to the next. The second petanca lane has been converted into what I refer to as the nine hole “guerilla” course, the reason being that you decide the layout of the holes in whatever sneaky way you prefer. Nine actual holes are provided and there are various obstacles spread about. The players then decide how they want to arrange them, and where the hole will begin. It’s a fun way to create longer “holes” criss-crossing each other and there is no wrong design. A lot of fun in a small space. -Location: We are very easy to find, albeit obscured from the beachfront Paseo Andrés Segovia. (See picture at the top. Laptop buyer alert: I am seeing a wave of “reconditioned laptops” offered for sale on Amazon.es, that have Windows 11 installed. Many of these devices are more than 5 years old and do not, in fact, meet Microsoft’s minimum processor requirements for Windows 11! The sellers have used a hack to allow Windows 11 to be installed on these ineligible devices. This hack disables important security functions, makes the operating system unstable & prone to errors, blocks some recovery options and may block the laptop from receiving Windows updates. Repair shops may refuse to work on a hacked laptop, as repair tools become unreliable on hacked systems. These laptops can not be updated to Windows 12, which is expected to be released in Fall 2024. The extreme heat returns: Malaga will experience a new episode of over 40 degrees on Sunday: {Translation, summary} – If the forecast does not fail, Malaga will experience a new episode of extreme heat this coming Sunday, with the terral as the protagonist. UFOs and alien remains being held from US public, whistleblower claims at Congress hearing: – A former US intelligence analyst testified in Congress on Wednesday that the government was hiding information about UFOs and “non-human biologics”. The final count is still awaiting the so-called CERA vote (Census of Residents Absent Abroad), an electorate that has benefited from the end of the “voto rogado”. – The last day to cast the ballot in embassies and consulates is this coming Thursday. It will be from then on that they will be counted, and there are several seats up in the air for those who will be decisive. – From Friday onwards, the Provincial Electoral Boards will conclude the general vote count by including the ballots cast by the 2.3 million Spaniards living in other countries. Kevin Spacey acquitted of sexual offense charges: – A London court has acquitted US actor Kevin Spacey of all nine sexual offense accusations by four men alleged to have occurred between 2001 and 2013. Rincón de la Victoria celebrates the XI Puppet Festival 27, 28, 29 and 31 July: – The Mayor of Rincón de la Victoria has announced the great novelty of this year- “the recovery of the essence of a festival that returns to the street, and to the stage, where the most fantastic stories will come to life”, said the councillor. – The Puppet Festival will begin on Thursday 27 July with the adventures of ‘Penique the Brave’ by Miguel Pino Children’s Productions in the Plaza de la Constitución in Rincón de la Victoria. – On Friday 28 July, the company Emilio Villalba & Sara Marina will come to the Plaza de las Flores in Benagalbón with the show ‘La Pequeña Juglaresa’. This is a musical journey to the Middle Ages where the audience learns music, rhythms and stories of medieval artists and musicians in which theatre, narration, puppets and live music are combined with historical instruments. – The company Teatro de Pocas Luces will perform ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ in the Gloria Fuertes square in La Cala del Moral on Saturday 29th July. A unique show in which the classic tale is reinterpreted through the tradition of the glove puppet with all the strength of the original story. – The closing of the festival, Monday 31st July, will be performed by the company La Fábrica de Parules with ‘Ritmos Animales’ in the old railway station of Torre de Benagalbón. Ritmos animalescos is a puppet concert, a big party to the rhythm of blues, reggae, funky, salsa, or rock performed by Alberto Celdrán and Rafa de Juan. – All performances are free and will start at 22:00. Almáchar celebrates three days of Fair in Honour of Our Lady the Virgin of Amparo: 28-30 July – Friday, July 28 at 9am, the ringing of bells and firing of rockets announcing the holidays. Children will be able to enjoy free use of the bouncy castles and inflatables at the Feria de Día – from 17.00 to 20:30 hours. At 18:30 there will be the final of the Petanca Tournament in the María Ruíz Gámez Football Field; and half an hour later the Horse Race in the Almáchar River next to the Josefa Gómez Avenue. It is organised by the Peña Amigos del Caballo with the collaboration of the Almáchar Town Hall. The inauguration of the Night Fair, continued Yuste, will take place in the María Zambrano enclosure at 22:00 hours. As every night, the Metrópolis orchestra will entertain the official stand from 23:30 hours. At 00:000 hours the King, Queen and Maids of Honour of the Children’s and Adult Festivities will be chosen. At 01:00 Carrete 80’s will arrive with versions of the best music from the 80s and 90s. – On Saturday at 13:00 the Feria de la Juventud will be inaugurated in the Paseo de la Axarquía with the opening of the bars, explained the Mayor. At 16:00 hours, Pilar Blanco, a local instructor, will introduce a Zumba Master Class for all ages. An hour later, the flamenco fusion group ‘Hakuna Matata’ will perform, followed by the young people’s party with DJ David Tovar. At 20:00 the Feria de Día will come to an end. In the evening, at 01:30 hours in the municipal stand, Juan Cid will give a concert. – On Sunday at 14:00 hours, at the Feria de Día, there will be a popular paella. The 6th Triana Perseids Night Route: Meteor shower viewing – This will take place on Saturday 12th August at night and will serve to contemplate this astronomical phenomenon from an incomparable setting. – This activity has a medium-high difficulty, so it requires some physical preparation, since approximately 10km in total will be travelled by mountain trails. – The start of the activity will take place at the Café-Teatro de Triana, at 7:30 p.m. It is important to be in good physical shape, bring plenty of water, food, warm clothes, headlamp, comfortable shoes and respect the rules of the group, such as not getting ahead or delaying, being punctual and taking care of the road environment. – Once the registration check is finished, we will go along paths until we reach the Kalachakra Buddhist Stupa. And from there, to the Tower of La Atalaya, which will be the place of activity. In this location the astronomer and photographer Carlos Castro will wait for us, where he will make an interpretation of the Milky Way and we will see the Perseid star shower, one of the most important of the whole year.

Fugitive Catalan leader could determine who governs in Spain- Will Sanchez allow a Catalan Independence Referendum in return for their supporting his coalition?: – Although the right-wing Popular Party (PP) is demanding the right to rule after winning the vote, it seems a remote possibility given that it didn’t manage to secure an absolute majority, even with the support of Vox. – That offers a chance for Socialist Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to cling onto power if he wins the backing of several Basque and Catalan independence parties whose parliamentary support was key to propping up his outgoing minority government. EU Money Available- The Junta will create a one-stop shop to speed up aid for housing renovations: {Translation} – The Andalusian regional government will create a one-stop shop with professional associations to speed up the application for and granting of housing refurbishment aid for residents and homeowners’ associations under the Ecovivienda Plan, which manages the European Next Generation funds in this area. – This office will offer information and management services, and will provide specialised advice to residents interested in renovating their buildings and homes with this aid, mainly focused on energy rehabilitation and reducing consumption, as reported by the Regional Ministry of Development in a statement. – Since the deadline for applying for aid under the Ecovivienda Plan opened in October there have been “numerous applications received”, to the point of extending both the deadline, until April 2024, and the funds for this by 80 million (to 214.1 million) in order to take “maximum advantage” of the European funds for the energy rehabilitation of the residential stock. – “We have to be agile in the granting of aid”, said the Councillor, who pointed out that, in addition to the work of the administration, the “involvement and collaboration of the sector is essential” due to its capacity to resolve any issues or incidents in homeowners’ and residents’ associations. – The Ecovivienda Plan aims to reduce energy consumption in homes by around 30%, which “will result in less polluting emissions, as well as being an incentive to reduce electricity and gas bills”. Axarquia municipalities intensify water restrictions in the face of drought, especially in Benamargosa: {Translation} – In the Axarquia the drought situation continues to worsen. With La Viñuela already at 8.8% and with only 14 hectometres, some municipalities that are supplied by the reservoir have intensified their saving measures, including Benamargosa, which has extended its cut-off time. Others, such as Periana, have decided to restrict supply from 22:30 to 7:00 so that their reservoirs, which obtain water from the Guaro borehole, can be filled so that their inhabitants can be supplied during the day. – The measures began to be taken when the Junta de Andalucía agreed that the water supply to Axaragua should be reduced by up to 20%. He maintains that this decision has been taken so that the population is affected as little as possible and the reservoirs can recover the water in more time. He also assures that the villagers are aware of the situation and know that “there is no water and the water we have has to be well organised”. – Vélez-Málaga, Benamargosa, Iznate, Almáchar, El Borge and Moclinejo are also cutting water at night. The latter is doing so from 00:00 to 06:30 “to guarantee the service throughout the day”, according to the local mayor, Antonio Muñoz, through a proclamation. In total there are now six municipalities that are supplied by La Viñuela that cut their water supply at night, and seven in total in La Axarquía, including Periana. – When the water saving measures began, the hoteliers of Torre del Mar were alarmed because they did not know how the cuts would affect their businesses. Now the Town Hall has assured that they have worked to regulate the water supply in the face of the scarcity of water resources and to ensure that the population receives it without setbacks. And so it has been. Antonio Sebastián Pastor, president of the Association of Traders and Businessmen of Torre del Mar (Acet), assures us that so far there has been no shortage of water in the hotel and catering sector and they suspect that it is because “the water left in the pipes is enough to keep us going until two or three in the morning”. – The sector intuits that if there is no water now, it will be the same in August, but they do not want to “be alarmed” by a situation that for the moment is not harming them because they still have water. Alert over high levels of unauthorised pesticide in watermelons from Morocco: {Translation} – The European Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) has issued a health alert reporting the detection at a border control of a batch of watermelons from Morocco in which a high level of methomyl, an unauthorised pesticide, was found. – The Moroccan watermelons intercepted contained traces of an insecticide in a proportion higher than that permitted on the European market. – The European system qualifies the occurrence as “serious”, and it is not known where the distribution of the affected watermelons has taken place. – Methomyl is a substance used as a pesticide and can have serious consequences in some cases. Symptoms of methomyl poisoning include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, trembling, muscle weakness and blurred vision. National election leaves Spain in a labyrinth: – The parliament that emerged from the national election held in Spain this Sunday and which will begin a new term on August 17 as the closest thing to a political labyrinth. Together, the two right-wing parties did not win enough seats to form an absolute majority (for which 176 seats are needed), and the possibility that the Popular Party (PP) and the far-right Vox could make pacts with other parties to reach it can be completely ruled out, given Vox’s unwillingness to work with regional nationalist groups (the far-right party advocates a strong centralized government). – Together, the PP and Vox have 169 seats, and they only have one safe seat they could add to their bloc, that of the Navarrese People’s Union. Another possible scenario would be the addition of the seat won by Coalición Canaria, a party that many associate with the PP because they are governing with them in the islands. But without the support of the PNV – unlikely at this point — this combination of forces would still not be enough to raise Alberto Núñez Feijóo’s seats to the necessary 176. – The left-wing bloc that has carried Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez’s government for the past four years did not win the necessary 176 seats either. For the Socialist Party (PSOE) and Sumar (a grouping of 15 small leftist parties) to form a new coalition government, they would have to come to some kind of agreement with Junts, a Catalan party founded by Carles Puigdemont, who pushed an illegal independence referendum in 2017 and fled to Belgium. – Related Breaking News: 1. The Prosecutor’s Office asks Supreme Court Judge Pablo Llarena to reactivate the search and capture order against Puigdemont. 2. Feijóo admits that he has not met “expectations” and opens contacts with UPN, Vox and CC, declares “I am not going to resign”: {Translation, summary} – The leader of the PP and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, admitted on Monday that the PP has not reached its “expectations” in the general elections, but stressed that it is the winning party and, therefore, it is his “responsibility” to lead the talks to try to form a Government. For this reason, he has informed the senior members of his party that he has opened contacts with PNV, UPN, Vox and Coalición Canaria. – “I am not going to give up on achieving it”, Feijóo declared in his speech to the PP’s National Board of Directors, a few hours after the bitter victory of the party, which won the elections with 136 seats and 33.05% of the vote, but the Socialist Pedro Sánchez has more options of winning the investiture if he gets the abstention of Junts. Dates for a possible investiture and when would there be new general elections?: {Translation, summary} – The PP has won the elections, but, contrary to what the polls predicted, the combination with Vox is not enough for it to govern. For its part, the left-wing bloc won 153 seats which, added to those of ERC, EH Bildu, PNV and BNG, would give a total of 172, which would not be enough to govern either. – The key to La Moncloa (Spain’s “White House”) is in the hands of Junts. If the nationalist party abstains, Pedro Sánchez could be re-elected president of the government. Feijóo could also be elected president if, in addition to this hypothetical abstention, he wins the support of Coalición Canaria or the PNV. And what if Puigdemont’s party does not opt for one or the other? In that case, the electoral clock would start ticking again and Spaniards would once again go to the polls in a few months’ time. – According to the electoral calendar, Congress will be constituted at 10:00 a.m. on 17 August, with the election of the new president of the Lower House, who will be the person in charge of travelling to the Zarzuela Palace that same day to inform the King of the results. – Judging by previous elections, it is to be expected that, after being informed of the composition of Congress, the head of state will summon the representatives of all the parties with representation to explore support in an investiture session. He would do so in Zarzuela, during the week of 21-27 August. – Once the groups in Congress have been formed and the spokespersons for each of them have been designated, plenary sessions can be called. Following these forecasts, the first investiture debate would be held, at the earliest, at the end of August or during the first week of September. – To try to be sworn in as president, Feijóo and Sánchez have two chances each, as in each investiture session there can be two rounds of voting. In the first session an absolute majority is required (176 MPs), while in the second – which is held 48 hours later – it is enough to have more yeses than noes. The latter option seems the only likely one, as long as Junts gives in. – Suppose that Feijóo does not get the necessary support and gives up his candidacy for the investiture. In this scenario, Sánchez could be the only one to run. If he manages to be invested at the first attempt, he could take office in the first week of September or at the beginning of the second. If Feijóo were to make an attempt before Sánchez and it were to fail, the deadlines would be extended, as the King has a period of two months to explore the socialist candidate’s support. – The date of the first failed investiture vote determines the timetable for a possible electoral repetition. In case of deadlock, the Parliament would be dissolved after two months (the deadline set for the King’s new round of consultations) and the new general elections would be held 47 days after the dissolution of the Parliament. – In other words, if the investiture does not go ahead at the beginning of September and the deadlock remains at the beginning of October – as occurred in 2016 and 2019 – the Parliament would be dissolved in November and elections would be held 47 days after this date. In the event of a repeat election, the most likely scenario is that the elections would be held in the middle of the Christmas season: in late December or early January. General election results Malaga- The PP wins the elections and obtains five deputies: {Translation, summary} – In Malaga, equality was maintained until the last moment, but, in the end, the PP won both in votes and seats. The Popular Party will have five representatives in the Parliament of Deputies and will take three of the four names sent by the province to the Senate. – The PSOE is defeated, after being the party with the most votes four years ago, but it has suffered the least painful defeat in recent elections. It manages to take three deputies to the Carrera de San Jerónimo, where the lower house is located, and takes a senator to the upper house. – Vox, for its part, maintains its two representatives in Congress, although it has lost ground and is now five points and 34,000 votes behind the result obtained four years ago – this gap is even greater considering that the turnout has risen by three points. – As for Sumar, it is holding on to its representation, one deputy.
