Tiscali Email Service Shutdown: Tiscali has converted to TalkTalk Email.
The Tiscali website redirects to the TalkTalk website now. Tiscali users have been alerted beginning in late 2021 to update their accounts to convert them to TalkTalk accounts. Tiscali emails can no longer be accepted for new DigameXtra subscriptions, and will stop receiving new daily email issues of DigameXtra. Some basic functionality still exists for users of the old Tiscali email, but it no longer supports all the functions required to display DigameXtra emails properly. WordPress now blocks them. If you have this problem, the only solutions are to update your Tiscali email to TalkTalk email, or change to a different email service and subscribe the new email account. (Thanks to Mary for bringing this to my attention.) -Ed.

Parking at Minigolf La Herradura:
-Important Notice: Mingolf La Herradura will be closed until Saturday 15 July. I will confirm, I hope, the reopening in next Friday’s DigameXtra Sponsor’s post. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Well, after some heavy lifting, measuring and painting the first two-thirds of the Minigolf La Herradura plot is now home to 20 parking spaces available for daily parking. If you are planning on spending the day in La Herradura this summer holiday, you could not ask for a more central location.
There is a large bathroom available as well as a picnic table where self-catering is allowed. Security cameras cover the entire plot. You could almost call this “boutique” parking. As such I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations.
-Opening Hours and Admission fee: A daily pass costs 10 euros and we will be open every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m until at least 11 September. As always, feel free to ring me with any questions you might have on +34 603 416 632.
-“Guerilla” nine-hole course: The price of admission includes unlimited access to the Minigolf course itself. The full 18-hole course is complete and easily playable. It has tucked in nicely at the back in the space previously used for racquet sports and one petanca lane. The only difference from before is shorter spacing from one hole to the next.
The second petanca lane has been converted into what I refer to as the nine hole “guerilla” course, the reason being that you decide the layout of the holes in whatever sneaky way you prefer. Nine actual holes are provided and there are various obstacles spread about. The players then decide how they want to arrange them, and where the hole will begin. It’s a fun way to create longer “holes” criss-crossing each other and there is no wrong design. A lot of fun in a small space.
-Location: We are very easy to find, albeit obscured from the beachfront Paseo Andrés Segovia. (See picture at the top. The red arrow reflects the fact these little alleys are one-way streets.). Please visit our website: www.minigolflh.es , contact tab, for full Google map.
Saludos, Señor El Parking, Scott Huston/La Herradura

MOONETTE – Organic Skincare for Mature Skin
We are a Torrox-based company specialising in the creation of formulae which help prevent premature skin ageing. We are committed to making effective products at affordable prices.
Your skin health matters to us. How you feed your skin is as important as how you feed your body. Why settle for anything less than natural and organic?
As our skin is the first layer of our defence against microbial infections, ultraviolet radiation and environmental contamination it plays a vital role in our health. As we grow older, however, our skin becomes thinner, wrinkled, and more sensitive; hence it requires the use of treatments containing specific ingredients to the care of treating mature skin.
Recognising this need we have created a range of formulae which help
-slow down ageing process by smoothing fine lines and wrinkles.
-improve facial complexion and eliminate blemishes.
At Moonette, we are passionate about health, beauty and plants. Your skin will benefit from the properties of botanic essential oils combined with a selection of nutrients for deep hydration, cell revitalization and antioxidant effect, all sourced from the finest natural ingredients with gorgeous fragrances.
Naturally, we care about our planet and feel the need to help reduce the sheer volumes of plastics waste that are generated daily around the globe. Presently, we are minimizing the usage of plastic materials in our production while seeking alternative forms of packaging. To help reduce pollution we are asking all local customers to recycle or reuse their Moonette skincare containers, and offering a small discount on future purchases to customers recycling containers.

Looking for Someone to Share Ownership of a Car:
I’m wondering if anyone would be interested in sharing the purchase of a used car and sharing it 50/50. We are 2 retired American professionals who own a home in La Herradura since 2016. Our plan is to come to Spain for 6 months each year – from November- April. We would split all costs such as insurance and maintenance. If we are traveling for a few weeks, we’d be happy to have our partner use the car during those times. We hope to travel periodically for 2 weeks each trip so an additional month of use would potentially be yours.
If this idea is something that may appeal to you, let’s plan to have a zoom meeting to introduce ourselves and see if we could realistically move forward with this idea.

Ridge of hot air from North African could bring temps of 45C to Spain:
– Weather experts have warned that temperatures could be extreme with highs close to 45C in the south and the eastern half of the Spanish mainland.
– Meteorologists forecast that from Saturday onwards the country will experience an episode of heat associated with the rise of a ridge of very hot air from North Africa. A maximum of around 40 degrees is expected in the Cordoba province of the Andalucía region. This will mainly be a day of clear skies, except in the northwest of the mainland, which will be the last bastion of the cool temperatures.
– On Sunday, meanwhile, the weather will be dry and sunny, with temperatures continuing to rise in the east of the mainland and the Balearic Islands. This will foreseeably be the start of a heat wave that will last until the middle of next week.

Sardines and a concert by Salmarina will open the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen in Nerja: {Translation}

The councillor for Popular Traditions, Elena Gálvez, has informed that the events will begin on Friday 14th, at eight o’clock in the evening, with a sardinada on the beach of Burriana. The sardines can be enjoyed free of charge and there will also be a concert by the duo Salmarina, starting at 22:30.
– The events on Saturday 15th will take place in the church of El Salvador with the traditional mass in the presence of the Peña Nerjeña. There will also be a wreath offering and medals will be awarded.
– On Sunday 16th July, mass will begin in the church of El Salvador at six o’clock in the evening with the presence of the flamenco duo Ortigosa. – The land and sea procession will then begin, which will start its route along Calle Carmen, Plaza Cavana, Calle Diputación and Calle Castilla Pérez, to the Torrecilla beach, where the image will be embarked and the sea procession along the Nerja coastline will begin, ending at Calahonda beach. From there it will head towards the Balcón de Europa, where there will be a sea salve and a fireworks display. Google Does NOT OWN the Internet- Yet, Google Now Says It’ll Scrape Everything You Post Online for Its Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Use:
– An audacious update to Google’s privacy policy suggests that the entire public internet is fair game for its AI projects, and that Google is immune to Copyright Law. This is false and will eventually challenged in court. Until then, Google will abuse the Internet, and when found guilty of abuse, it will pay the fine as a business expense, and go on doing it anyway.
– Google updated its privacy policy over the weekend, explicitly saying the company reserves the right to scrape just about everything you post online to build its AI tools. If Google can read your words, assume they belong to the company now, and expect that they’re nesting somewhere in the bowels of a chatbot.
– “Google uses information to improve our services and to develop new products, features and technologies that benefit our users and the public,” the new Google policy says. “For example, we use publicly available information to help train Google’s AI models and build products and features like Google Translate, Bard, and Cloud AI capabilities.”
– This is an unusual clause for a privacy policy. Typically, these policies describe ways that a business uses the information that you post on the company’s own services. Here, it seems Google reserves the right to harvest and harness data posted on any part of the public web, as if the whole internet is the company’s own AI playground. Google did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
– The practice raises new and interesting privacy questions. People generally understand that public posts are public. But today, you need a new mental model of what it means to write something online. It’s no longer a question of who can see the information, but how it could be used. There’s a good chance that AI services Bard and ChatGPT ingested your long forgotten blog posts or 15-year-old restaurant reviews. As you read this, the chatbots could be regurgitating your words in ways that are impossible to predict and difficult to understand.

Three meteor showers that you do not want to miss this month of July: {Translation}
– Astronomy enthusiasts are in for an eventful month of July. In particular, several meteor showers are expected, which are associated with the remains of comets that cross the Earth’s orbit and leave their successive passes close to the Sun. Their duration is usually a fraction of a second, but the vaporisation of the particle by its collision with air molecules produces a luminosity that makes this phenomenon observable.
– The most important of all will be the Delta-Aquarid meteor shower, which can be seen every year between 12 July and 23 August, reaching its maximum around 30 July. According to the National Geographic Institute, these meteors are best observed in the southern hemisphere because their radiant is higher in the sky, but they are also visible in the northern hemisphere with a somewhat lower activity rate. The peak of the delta Aquarid shower is expected on the night of 30-31 July, although this year 2023 will be a bad year for observing them as their peak activity will occur two days before the full moon on 1 August.
– This July it will also be possible to observe the Afa-Capricornids, a phenomenon named after its proximity to the alpha star in the constellation of Capricorn. They originate in the dust trail left by comet 196P/NEAT and occur between 3 July and 15 August. Their maximum trail is expected on 30 July, when about four meteors per hour can be seen in good visibility. This is a much less active but brighter star shower than the previous one.
– The last astronomical event scheduled for these dates is the Pisces-Austrinids, a shower named after the proximity of the constellation of the Southern Fish. First seen by W. F. Denning in 1911, it can be observed between 15 July and 10 August. Its maximum is expected on 28 July, when about five meteors per hour will be visible in good visibility.
– This July will also see the first Perseids or tears of St. Lawrence. Although their peak activity occurs on the nights of 11-13 August, they usually begin to be seen around 17 July and end around 24 August. This year is expected to be an excellent year to observe them, as their maximum will occur three days before the new moon (the new moon will take place on 16 August).
