Amber weather warning for temperatures above 44C extended in parts of Malaga province:
– Aemet has extended an amber warning (major risk) that it had planned to activate this Wednesday, 9 August, until Thursday, a day on which maximum temperatures of 43C are forecast (locally they may exceed 44C). The warning affects the Antequera district this Wednesday, while the Serranía de Ronda will remain under a yellow warning. On Thursday, both areas will be under an amber warning until 9 pm.
– In Malaga province, the amber warning has been activated for Antequera and Ronda, with maximum temperatures of 42C and 40C, respectively.
– Minimum temperatures will also be very high during this week’s heat wave, “with nights above 20C, and even above 25C, in the southern half of Spain, central area and Mediterranean area”. Malaga municipalities extend measures against drought- there are now 14 with water cuts + reservoirs update:

– 14 municipalities have implemented water cuts to its population, mostly at night, due to lack of water in the reservoirs from which they are supplied. The last to join this measure have been Almogía, Villanueva de la Concepción and the southern area of Torcal de Antequera. The solution, until the arrival of the long-awaited rains, is the hiring of water tanks and tanker trucks.
– These three inland municipalities are supplied from the El Puntal reservoir, whose level is dropping every day. This lack of water has led them to meet and issue a statement in which they announce occasional water cuts at night, from 18.00-20.00 in the evening and until 08.00 in the morning, and until the levels of the reservoirs are recovered. They will be carried out during the next weeks and appeal to “make an efficient use of water to avoid having to extend these restrictions more hours and to more areas”.
– Casabermeja also receives water from this large reservoir and is one of the municipalities most affected by the restrictions in the province of Malaga. Here, residents receive water about six hours a day: it is cut off at 14.00 hours and does not return until 08.00 hours the following day. The situation is more drastic in rural areas, which only receive water about six hours a week.
– In the neighbouring town of Colmenar, barely ten kilometres away, there are also problems with the supply, which has led to water cuts in scattered and rural areas.

– There are reservoirs that are in a better water situation. The Guadalhorce reservoir is at 26.26% of its capacity, with 33.01 hm3, and the Guadalteba, contains 56.18 hm3 and is at 36.65% of its total volume. The Limonero and Casasola reservoirs are also located in the city of Malaga, at 28.83% and 33.43%, respectively. The former accumulates 6.44 hm3 of water and the latter, 7.26. In the Western Costa del Sol, the main source of water supply is the reservoir of La Concepción, which is in the best situation. This Wednesday it is at 51.18% of its capacity, with 29.45 cubic hectometres.

Entire Nation Gets Doxed- U.K. Electoral Commission Breach Exposes Personal Voter Data of 40 Million Britons, they waited 10 months to alert voters:
– The U.K. Electoral Commission on Tuesday disclosed a “complex” cyber attack on its systems that went undetected for over a year, allowing the threat actors to access years worth of voter data belonging to 40 million people. “The incident was identified in October 2022 after suspicious activity was detected on our systems,” the regulator said. “It became clear that hostile actors had first accessed the systems in August 2021.”
– The details exposed as a result of the cyber incident are as follows:
*Name, first name, and surname
*Email addresses (personal and/or business)
*Home address if included in a webform or email
*Contact telephone number (personal and/or business)
*Content of the webform and email that may contain personal data
*Any personal images sent to the Commission.

*Date on which a person achieves voting age that year
– It’s not clear why the disclosure was delayed by another 10 months, but the Commission told the BBC and The Guardian that it was done to stop the adversary’s access, investigate the extent of the breach, and enforce security guardrails.
– “Anyone who has been in contact with the Commission, or who was registered to vote between 2014 and 2022, should remain vigilant for unauthorized use or release of their personal data,” the (Commission) watchdog said, adding it has put in place mitigations to secure against future attacks.

– This was probably an inside job. Perhaps a disgruntled, or blackmailed, network manager at the Electoral Commission. Or a network manager did something unimaginably stupid for a supposed tech expert: connected home PC to work server, clicked an email phishing link, left their password out where others could access it, etc.
– With today’s security tools, a breach like this should have been identified in days. To remain undetected for so long suggests the threat actor had top level network admin access. Why? Data chains (the network connecting work stations to the mainframe server) are compartmentalized into sections. Average workers only have access to their section, not the entire network. Only a few people have the top level network admin access that was required to maintain the breach undetected for so long, across the entire network.
– The amount of work and resources required for a remote hacker group to pull this off, for so long, without inside assistance, makes that possibility unlikely. The data did not include any bank info or financial docs, so there is just not enough reward for a major hacker group to bother with it.

Cajiz celebrates a new edition of the ‘Fiesta del Emigrante’ next weekend, 11 & 12 Aug:
– Friday. At 8pm the bar, the children’s bouncy castle and music open. And at 10pm there will be a tribute to the emigrants, to then give way to a musical performance by singer Antonio José, who will be accompanied on guitar by Gabriel Cabrera. DJ Nene will close Friday night.
– Saturday. Starts at 12 noon with the opening of the bar whose profits will go to the festivities of San José in Cajiz. Face painting at 6pm, and a bouncy castle. Starting at 12:30am, Elisa Ariza will perform, accompanied by Jesús Martín ‘El Mauro’, Vicente Santiago and Antonio Iagos. The Fiesta del Emigrante will close at 2:00 a.m. with DJ David Tovar.

The XL Flamenco Night ‘Antonio de Canillas’ will be held this Thursday, August 10 in the Plaza de la Constitución in Canillas de Aceituno starting at 11:00 p.m.

Tourist Report: {Editor} Much to my surprise, the Torrox Costa beach walk was packed at 11:30pm Monday night, like I haven’t seen since before Covid arrived. Many places were still serving food. I did notice that the vast majority of the people were Spanish. Some well dressed northern Spanish in cute matching outfits (typically tall and pale skinned, speaking proper Castellano), but the majority in tee-shirts & baggy shorts looked and sounded like they were from Andalucia. Very few were speaking English or German. Mostly families, no packs of drunk guys all wearing ManU shirts, no flamboyant hen parties. Far fewer French in attendance than in previous years. I’m told the French are favouring Spain’s North Atlantic coast beaches this summer, due to the wicked high temps in the South Med coast.

Craft Beer Festival `Birra & Art’: Rincón de la Victoria
August 12 to 15 at the Plaza Al-Andalus.
The event will offer up to 45 different types of beers from nine national and international companies, and 24 stands with international gastronomy with German sausages, Latin food or Argentine barbecue, and sale of crafts, as well as live concerts.
The Festival program includes live music concerts in the Pop Rock style: Los Ramírez (Tribute to the Rodríguez); on Saturday, August 12; Joker Rock Band, Sunday August 13; Killer Rockets and Money Makers, Monday, August 14; and Not Yet, Tuesday, August 15. All concerts are free and start at 9:30 p.m.
You can taste beers from the price of 3 euros.

(Date typo corrected) Today, Friday, 4 Aug, is a public holiday in Torrox: It is the Saint Roque and Virgin de las Nieves Celebration in honour of the patron saints of Torrox. Aldi in Torrox Costa has a sign posted announcing they will be closed, not sure about the other shops.

Parking at Minigolf La Herradura:
-Important Notice: Mingolf La Herradura will remain closed until Friday 11 August. If there is a change in advance of the 11th, it will be posted on our website, www.minigolflh.es . Also, it is best to contact me using WhatsApp, 603 416 632. Missed phone calls without a message may go unanswered at present. Sorry for any inconvenience.
-High Season Parking: After some heavy lifting, measuring and painting the first two-thirds of the Minigolf La Herradura plot is now home to 20 parking spaces available for daily parking. If you are planning on spending the day in La Herradura this summer holiday, you could not ask for a more central location.
There is a large bathroom available as well as a picnic table where self-catering is allowed. Security cameras cover the entire plot. You could almost call this “boutique” parking. As such I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations.
-Opening Hours and Admission fee: A daily pass costs 10 euros with opening hours every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The price of admission includes unlimited access to the Minigolf course itself with parking included subject to availability.
-Minigolf has added an additional nine holes: The full 18-hole course is complete and easily playable. It has tucked in nicely at the back in the space previously used for racquet sports and one petanca lane. The only difference from before is shorter spacing from one hole to the next.
The second petanca lane has been converted into what I refer to as the nine hole “guerilla” course, the reason being that you decide the layout of the holes in whatever sneaky way you prefer. Nine actual holes are provided and there are various obstacles spread about. The players then decide how they want to arrange them, and where the hole will begin. It’s a fun way to create longer “holes” criss-crossing each other and there is no wrong design. A lot of fun in a small space.
-Location: We are very easy to find, albeit obscured from the beachfront Paseo Andrés Segovia. (See picture at the top. The red arrow reflects the fact these little alleys are one-way streets.). Please visit our website: www.minigolflh.es , contact tab, for full Google map.

– Ziggy – DOB 01.02.22 (estimated) – Ziggy is deaf, and has 2 different coloured eyes, his eyesight is fine, and his deafness doesn’t hold him back at all. He has done amazingly well since being found as a scared, confused pup to a dog full of confidence and happiness. He will need a home with secure outside space, and preferably no cats – he does like to chase them.
– Pedro – DOB 1.1.16 (estimated) – A small dog weighing only 8kg. Pedro doesn’t ask for much, a quiet life, he is more than happy to laze around and watch the world go by, short walks suit him best, he gets on well with other dogs and cats, and is a lovely little dog all round.
– Lana – DOB 20.03.23 – Rescued at 2 weeks old with her mum and siblings. Mum is a small dog, but Lana has been estimated to be on the large size of medium. Lana gets on well with other dogs, is very intelligent, and loves people.
– Dee Dee – DOB 18.03.23 – Born in kennels not long after her pregnant mum was rescued. Mum is a Bodeguero, but Dee Dee has been estimated to be medium to large in size. She is very playful, full of energy, but also very easy going. Loves her walks and is a great companion to have by your side.
– These are 4 of our dogs looking for homes of their own. All are fully vaccinated, chipped and have passports. Ziggy & Pedro are both neutered, DeeDee and Lana are too young at the moment. Please take a look at our website, where you will find more information and photos, plus details of other dogs and pups that we have in our care. We do ask for an adoption fee of  €110 for pups that are fully vaccinated, chipped and have passports, and €180 for older dogs that are fully vaccinated, have all paperwork and have been neutered. This fee goes towards their vet bills and care, and help us to continue helping abandoned dogs and cats.

XXXV Festival de Cante Flamenco de Alcaucín kicks off the Feria de Alcaucín 2023 this Friday, 4 Aug:
– The vocalists Ezequiel Benítez, Esmeralda Rancapino, Raúl ‘El Balilla’, ‘El Perrete’, Pepe Calayo and the dancer Matías Campos make up the lineup for the event that will begin at 00:00.
– Regarding the program of the 2023 Fair that will begin that same morning, the Councilor for Fiestas has listed the activities that have been prepared especially with the little ones in mind. At 12:00 pm there will be a slide in the pool; and from 6:00 p.m., inflatables, children’s entertainment, face painting, popcorn and cotton. The parade of the Alcaucín Municipal Music Band will be at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, August 5 at 10:00 am they will play flowery reveille.
– At noon on Saturday there will be a paella tasting and at 3:00 p.m. – also on Sunday – the Foam Festival accompanied by Miguel Botana and the Sioké brass band. There will be a 50-meter water slide on Calle Arcos. At 6:30 p.m. there will be a bicycle ribbon race and children’s piñatas. At 8:00 p.m. there will be a mass and procession in honor of San Sebastián accompanied by the Alcaucín Municipal Music Band.
– On Sunday the procession will go out again through the streets of the town. At 11:30 p.m. the dance group Romero de Alcaucín will perform and at 12:00 a.m. the Queens and Dames of the Children’s and Adults’ Fair will be chosen, as well as the Children’s and Adult Mister. At one in the morning there will be a concert by Lorena Santos and David Jiménez, “a very talented urban art duo”
Also on Sunday, August 6, there will be a tasting of roast meat. At one in the morning there will be a concert by Henry Méndez, “An artist with whom we have grown up, and many of whom will be able to sing his songs”. According to a Euronews report, earlier this month, a total of 200,000 French train tickets were sold at the fixed price of €19. The same notes that until August 27, a large number of regional express train services in the coastal region of Hauts-de-France are €1.

Parking at Minigolf La Herradura:
-Important Notice: Mingolf La Herradura will be closed until Friday 4 August. I will confirm, I hope, the reopening in next Friday’s DigameXtra Sponsor’s post. Sorry for any inconvenience.

-High Season Parking: After some heavy lifting, measuring and painting the first two-thirds of the Minigolf La Herradura plot is now home to 20 parking spaces available for daily parking. If you are planning on spending the day in La Herradura this summer holiday, you could not ask for a more central location.
There is a large bathroom available as well as a picnic table where self-catering is allowed. Security cameras cover the entire plot. You could almost call this “boutique” parking. As such I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations.
-Opening Hours and Admission fee: A daily pass costs 10 euros with opening hours every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. The price of admission includes unlimited access to the Minigolf course itself with parking included subject to availability. (You can pay for admission and only use the parking area if you like, it’s a bit too hot for Mingolf at present, but the 10€ is billed as Minigolf.)
-“Guerilla” nine-hole course: The full 18-hole course is complete and easily playable. It has tucked in nicely at the back in the space previously used for racquet sports and one petanca lane. The only difference from before is shorter spacing from one hole to the next.
The second petanca lane has been converted into what I refer to as the nine hole “guerilla” course, the reason being that you decide the layout of the holes in whatever sneaky way you prefer. Nine actual holes are provided and there are various obstacles spread about. The players then decide how they want to arrange them, and where the hole will begin. It’s a fun way to create longer “holes” criss-crossing each other and there is no wrong design. A lot of fun in a small space.

Laptop buyer alert: I am seeing a wave of “reconditioned laptops” offered for sale on Amazon.es, that have Windows 11 installed. Many of these devices are more than 5 years old and do not, in fact, meet Microsoft’s minimum processor requirements for Windows 11! The sellers have used a hack to allow Windows 11 to be installed on these ineligible devices. This hack disables important security functions, makes the operating system unstable & prone to errors, blocks some recovery options and may block the laptop from receiving Windows updates. Repair shops may refuse to work on a hacked laptop, as repair tools become unreliable on hacked systems. These laptops can not be updated to Windows 12, which is expected to be released in Fall 2024. The extreme heat returns: Malaga will experience a new episode of over 40 degrees on Sunday: {Translation, summary}

– Sinead O’Connor’s heartbroken family have said they are “devastated” by her death at the age of 56. The Dublin singer is survived by three of her children; Jake, Roisin and Yeshua. Her son Shane sadly died last year at the age of 17.
Her family confirmed her death in a brief statement this evening.
– O’Connor, who married four times, was ordained a priest in the Latin Tridentine church, an independent Catholic church not in communion with Rome, in 1999.

– A former US intelligence analyst testified in Congress on Wednesday that the government was hiding information about UFOs and “non-human biologics”. David Grusch said he “absolutely” believed the US was in possession of unidentified anomalous phenomena, or UAPs – which has replaced the term UFO in official parlance – and remains of their non-human operators.
– “I was informed, in the course of my official duties, of a multi-decade UAP crash retrieval and reverse-engineering programme,” Mr Grusch told Congressional members. “I made the decision, based on the data I collected, to report this information to my superiors and multiple inspectors general, and in effect becoming a whistleblower.”

– It will be this Saturday, 29 July, from ten o’clock at night in the Plaza de la Almedina.
– This year they will have as guests the Ecuadorian Cultural Centre “Tradi Arte”, from Ecuador, and the national show will come from the folk-musical association “El Lagar” from Socuéllamos, from Ciudad Real, as well as the host group, the Choirs and Dances of Torrox.
– The tourist train and the usual bus lines will be available and run extended hours, with an busline to help cover the return trips to the coast once the festival is over, around 1.30 am. Kevin Spacey acquitted of sexual offense charges:
– A London court has acquitted US actor Kevin Spacey of all nine sexual offense accusations by four men alleged to have occurred between 2001 and 2013. He faced nine charges, including sexual assault, indecent assault, and causing a person to engage in sexual activity without consent.
– The verdicts in London follow the US court last year dismissing separate sexual allegations in a civil case against the actor.
