The autónomos (self employed) denounce the government and the fragility of their situation; 75% say they are the same or worse off than in 2022: {Translation}
– The self-employed see no signs of improvement in their situation, at least in the short term. Thus, 83% of those surveyed stated that their expenses had increased compared to the previous year, in most cases by between 10 and 30%. At the same time, this increase in costs has forced many employees to raise prices. Two out of every three self-employed people have done so this year, while 60% say that they will have to raise prices again in the remainder of the year. ATA points out that the drop in turnover for many self-employed workers and the increase in costs has caused many to raise their shutters every day “in the knowledge that it is going to cost them money”.
– Asked which factors have most affected their production in the last year, the self-employed agree that inflation (87% say it affected them “quite a lot” or “a great deal”), followed by taxes (81%) and the payment of social security contributions (76%). The cost of raw materials (71%), higher fuel prices (70%) and higher electricity prices (63%) have also had a widespread effect. Moreover, so far only half of the self-employed have noticed the rise in interest rates and only a third say that they have been very or fairly affected by the shortage of certain products or the cost of rent.

The price of housing in Malaga continues to rise more than in any other province in Spain: {Translation}
– For the province as a whole, the price of house purchases follows a generalised growth trend for the whole country, led by Malaga with an increase of 12.4% and a value per square metre of 2,446 euros, which makes it the Spanish province with the highest increase in house prices.

Firefox Browser Goes From Bad to Worse:
– Mozilla has announced that some browser add-ons will be blocked from running on certain sites as part of a new feature called Quarantined Domains.
– “We have introduced a new back-end feature to only allow some extensions monitored by Mozilla to run on specific websites for various reasons, including security concerns,” the company said in its Release Notes for Firefox 115.0 released last week.

US to Supply Ukraine with banned CLUSTER BOMBS, Ukraine’s Defence Minister claims these munitions only for the “de-occupation of our internationally recognized territories”:
– The U.S. announced on Friday it would supply Ukraine with widely banned cluster munitions for its counteroffensive against occupying Russian forces. Defence Minister Reznikov said the munitions would help save the lives of Ukrainian soldiers, adding Ukraine would keep a strict record of their use and exchange information with its partners. “Our position is simple – we need to liberate our temporarily occupied territories and save the lives of our people,” Reznikov wrote on Twitter.
– “Ukraine will use these munitions only for the de-occupation of our internationally recognized territories. These munitions will not be used on the officially recognized territory of Russia.”

The Tiscali website redirects to the TalkTalk website now. Tiscali users have been alerted beginning in late 2021 to update their accounts to convert them to TalkTalk accounts. Tiscali emails can no longer be accepted for new DigameXtra subscriptions, and will stop receiving new daily email issues of DigameXtra. Some basic functionality still exists for users of the old Tiscali email, but it no longer supports all the functions required to display DigameXtra emails properly. WordPress now blocks them. If you have this problem, the only solutions are to update your Tiscali email to TalkTalk email, or change to a different email service and subscribe the new email account. Parking at Minigolf La Herradura:
-Important Notice: Mingolf La Herradura will be closed until Saturday 15 July. I will confirm, I hope, the reopening in next Friday’s DigameXtra Sponsor’s post. Sorry for any inconvenience.
Well, after some heavy lifting, measuring and painting the first two-thirds of the Minigolf La Herradura plot is now home to 20 parking spaces available for daily parking. If you are planning on spending the day in La Herradura this summer holiday, you could not ask for a more central location.
There is a large bathroom available as well as a picnic table where self-catering is allowed. Security cameras cover the entire plot. You could almost call this “boutique” parking. As such I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations.
-Opening Hours and Admission fee: A daily pass costs 10 euros and we will be open every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m until at least 11 September. As always, feel free to ring me with any questions you might have on +34 603 416 632.
-“Guerilla” nine-hole course: The price of admission includes unlimited access to the Minigolf course itself. The full 18-hole course is complete and easily playable. It has tucked in nicely at the back in the space previously used for racquet sports and one petanca lane. The only difference from before is shorter spacing from one hole to the next.
The second petanca lane has been converted into what I refer to as the nine hole “guerilla” course, the reason being that you decide the layout of the holes in whatever sneaky way you prefer. Nine actual holes are provided and there are various obstacles spread about. The players then decide how they want to arrange them, and where the hole will begin. It’s a fun way to create longer “holes” criss-crossing each other and there is no wrong design. A lot of fun in a small space.

Sardines and a concert by Salmarina will open the festivities of the Virgen del Carmen in Nerja: {Translation}

– An audacious update to Google’s privacy policy suggests that the entire public internet is fair game for its AI projects, and that Google is immune to Copyright Law. Three meteor showers that you do not want to miss this month of July: {Translation}
– Astronomy enthusiasts are in for an eventful month of July. In particular, several meteor showers are expected, which are associated with the remains of comets that cross the Earth’s orbit and leave their successive passes close to the Sun. Face masks officially scrapped in Spain thanks to ‘end of Covid health crisis’:

Operation Rambo- more than fifty weapons found at an abandoned house in Estepona in May:
– Police officers found the weapons scattered in different rooms of the house. Many of them were in full view, while others were hidden in sports bags. Among other items, they seized 30 pistols, eight sub-machine guns, twelve shotguns and two revolvers, as well as fifteen silencers, eight tracers and thirty balaclavas.
– It is not known when the occupants left, but it is known that they had not paid rent for the property since 2021.
– In addition to the firearms, police officers seized telescopic sights, gun holsters, files, magazines and a large quantity of ammunition. Among these items, a pistol with two barrels in the shape of a key ring was also located.
– Police also found – as if it were a uniform – four long-sleeved T-shirts, four pairs of tracksuit bottoms and three pairs of trainers, all navy blue and unworn, as well as some thirty balaclavas of the same colour.

Man who allegedly barricaded himself in a Burriana home takes his own life: {Translation, summary}
– Friday afternoon was a nervous and worrying one in Islas Baleares street in Burriana. At midday a call came in to the 112 telephone number alerting that shouts of a fight had been heard, as well as gunshots in a flat in this street. It was also reported that the man’s children and wife, along with their pets, had left the house in question.
– The Guardia Civil carried out a large deployment in the area, as everything suggested that the individual had barricaded himself in the house with a shotgun. There were tense moments throughout the afternoon and finally the agents of the Reserve and Security Group (GRS) appeared, who on entering the house found the body of the man, who had taken his own life.
– The Guardia Civil cordoned off the area to prevent damage to the neighbours of the house and residents of the neighbourhood, and the tension became apparent when, as the GRS entered, they heard knocks that many of the witnesses mistook for gunshots. Parking at Minigolf La Herradura
-The Makeover: Keeping it cool! Well, after some heavy lifting, measuring and painting the first two-thirds of the Minigolf La Herradura plot is now home to 20 parking spaces available for daily parking from Saturday, 1 July until at minimum the middle of September.
If you are planning on spending the day in La Herradura, you could not ask for a parking area in a more central location. By the middle or end of next week there will be sun shades covering the majority of the lot and the price of admission includes unlimited access to the Minigolf course itself. Also, there is a large bathroom available as well as a picnic table where self-catering is allowed. Security cameras cover the entire plot. You could almost call this “boutique” parking. As such I highly recommend that you call in advance for reservations.
-Opening Hours and Admission fee: A daily pass will cost 10 euros and I plan to be open every day from 10:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. Overnight and long-term parking are also available though there will be no access to the cars outside of standard hours, except perhaps earlier in the morning by appointment. As always, feel free to ring me with any questions you might have on +34 603 416 632.
*I want to add that all of the above is subject to change. To be honest, I’m taking a flyer on this project, but if changes are made they will be posted at the entrance and I will explain the change before any admission ticket is issued.
-Don’t need parking but would like to play the Minigolf course this summer? Our special offer:
The full 18-hole Minigolf course is complete and easily playable. It has tucked in nicely at the back in the space previously used for racquet sports and petanca. The only difference from before is shorter spacing from one hole to the next. However, a big plus is that the course is now completely covered in shade. Not only that, but there was space for the bonus nine “guerilla” holes. And the price is, drum roll please: 5 euros per person! Your eyes do not deceive, only 5 euros regardless of age for unlimited play. Please book at least one hour in advance via phone or WhatsApp to confirm your time for this special offer.

– Leaflets and posters with a so-called ‘squatters’ manual’ under the acronym ‘Okupas unidos’ (squatters united) encouraging squatting in tourist flats have appeared in the Alameda de Hércules neighbourhood, one of the areas most affected by this phenomenon in Seville.
– The ‘manual’ refers to the fact that Seville (and other PSOE controlled municipalities) has “thousands of tourist flats authorised by the PSOE council” and how these are not advertised in posters in the windows “for fear of us”, say the squatters, who point to this type of property as a target.
– The modus operandi proposed by the ‘united squatters’ goes beyond the traditional kick in the door: “Enter like gentlemen, rent for two days and get copies of the keys for future visits”. Among the motives they use, they point out that these are flats” of good quality and profitability”, that they are the second, third or fourth homes of owners who live in another place recognised as their first home, so that “when you stay in the flat, as the owner has several homes, it will be more difficult to kick you out and as they have money, you can negotiate compensation if they want the flat”.

Alora returns to its origins this weekend with the Al-Arabic Nights- programme, activities and concerts: {Translation, summary}
– Friday 30 June to Sunday 2 July. There will be more than 3,000 candles, live music, theatrical parades and juggling and fire shows around the streets of Alora on a path that will lead to the Arab Souk where you can find from a craft market with more than 30 stalls, to a Moroccan food restaurant that will be located in the Plaza Baja, where there will be free concerts by Azúcar Moreno and José el Francés.
– On Friday 30 June, from 20:00 hours, the Arab Souk will be open until 1:00 in the morning. Half an hour later, at 20:30, the opening speech and the first opening parade of the Al-Arabic Night will take place with the musicians of the Sultan and Arab dances. From 21:30 onwards, everything will be enlivened by Arab music and dance, and at 23:00 the free concert by the duo Azúcar Moreno will begin in the Plaza Baja. At 23:30 the Fakir Mysteries are scheduled and at 0:45 the music will end until the next day.

– The Viking Neptune transformed into a cross-continental petri dish as more than 100 passengers onboard the cruise ship fell ill with the highly contagious norovirus this month.
– In a Tuesday update, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said 110 cruisers – more than 13% of the ship’s 838 passengers – were affected by the gastrointestinal virus during the vessel’s two-week trip from Iceland to New York, which ended Tuesday. Nine crew members, or nearly two percent of the ship’s staff, also reported being ill during the voyage, which included stops in Greenland and Canada.

The Internet Is Far More Fragile Than You Think- Can Putin turn off the internet?:
– The global network on which we depend so much is alarmingly physical and eminently vulnerable. According to Marshal Edward Stringer, former director of operations for the British Ministry of Defence, 95% of all international data traffic passes through a small number of undersea cables. We’re talking about roughly 200 cables, each the thickness of a garden hose and capable of transferring about 200 terabytes per second.
– In the last 20 years, Russia has invested heavily in systems capable of attacking this network of underwater cables. The Kremlin today has a fleet of sophisticated unmanned submersibles designed specifically for this purpose. So does China. A wide raging escalation of Russia’s armed conflicts may well include an attack against the undersea cable systems.
– This isn’t some hypothetical threat. As recently as October 2022, a submarine cable connecting the Shetland Islands to the rest of the world was severed at two points. A few days prior, a Russian “scientific research” ship was detected in the area. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to prove that Russia cut the cable. In fact, most of the time, outages are due to accidents with fishing boats or seismic events on the seabed. Even so, the coincidence greatly worried Western powers’ security agencies, which perceived the incident as a warning from the Kremlin. Another relevant event was the decision taken in February 2023 by China’s two largest telecommunications companies, which decided to withdraw from the international consortium that is developing an 11,930-mile (19,200 kilometre) network of submarine cables connecting Southwest Asia and Western Europe.
