New Pet Laws Take Effect Today, Shops Can’t Sell Dogs, Cats or Ferrets: {Translation}
– Since this Sunday it is forbidden to sell dogs, cats and ferrets in stores in Spain, and carrying out this activity involves a penalty ranging from 50,001 to 200,000 
euros. – The law also prohibits the exhibition and display to the public of these animals, which are considered companion animals.

Veiasa and unions meet again on Monday after the notice of an indefinite strike at ITV: {Translation}
– The unions UGT and CCOO meet again this Monday after warning last September 27 that they would present a call for an indefinite strike in the technical inspection stations of vehicles (ITV), which manages the company Veiasa, after it presented a new proposal for a collective agreement that “worsens” the last one transferred to the union reps.

A four-meter-high fortress made by Anton Jensen inaugurated in Torrox: {Translation, summary}

Two sisters report an attack by a group of men at the Vélez-Málaga fair: {Translation}
– A night out at the fairgrounds of Velez-Malaga that ended in an alleged assault, with serious injuries to the face, hands and arms, including several stitches. This is what two sisters from the capital of Axarquia, aged 26 and 22, have reported to the National Police Station in Velez-Malaga. – Her sister observed from a distance of a few meters this alleged aggression, so she decided to intervene in the dispute, according to the version of the complainants. “At the moment she interposed herself between her sister and the aggressors so that the aggressions would not continue, she received a punch on the left side of her face, at the level of the cheekbone, leaving her unconscious,” the complaint states.
– The victim of the alleged aggression “does not remember anything else until she woke up while being attended by an ambulance”. Far right wins Austria election, boosting European right-wing surge:
– Austrian voters handed a first ever general election victory to the far-right Freedom Party on Sunday, vote projections showed, illustrating rising support for hard-right parties in Europe fueled by concern over immigration levels.
– The Eurosceptic, Russia-friendly FPO led by the 55-year-old Herbert Kickl {pic}, was projected to secure 29.1% of the vote, ahead of the OVP on 26.2%, and the centre-left Social Democrats on 20.4%, a projection by pollster Foresight for broadcaster ORF showed after polls closed. Older Phones To Lose WhatsApp:
– WhatsApp, one of the world’s most popular messaging apps, has announced that it will stop supporting certain phone models beginning October 1, 2024. This change, initiated by Meta, the company behind WhatsApp & Fakebook, will impact both Android and iPhone users whose devices are unable to meet the app’s new software requirements.
– These older devices will no longer be able to run WhatsApp after the cut-off date. In reality, this cut-off may take several weeks or months to reach all users. If you block WhatsApp from updating in your device Settings, you may get away with continuing to use it for a while. But eventually they will force the update, and it will break your WhatsApp.

Irish Social Media Hacks Explained- Ireland fines Meta 91 million euros for storing user passwords without being encrypted, millions of user accounts left exposed:
– The company led by Mark Zuckerberg, that owns social networks Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, was investigated for saving Irish user passwords without encryption, in plain text.
– Specifically, this regulation details that those responsible for data processing – in this case, Meta – must have appropriate security measures for the processing of personal data. Thus, to maintain security, it is important that the company “evaluate the risks inherent to the treatment and implement measures to mitigate them”, as the DPC has pointed out.
– Taking all this into account, after concluding the investigation, the DPC has communicated this Friday the sanction imposed on Meta for the incorrect processing of users’ personal data in its services, and for not having the necessary security measures for the processing of sensitive information, such as passwords.
– Likewise, it has also been concluded that the technology company did not document personal data violations relating to the storage of user passwords. As a result, Meta must cover a fine of 91 million euros. “It is widely accepted that User passwords should not be stored in plain text, considering the risks of abuse that arise when people access such data. “It should be noted that the passwords being examined in this case are particularly sensitive as they would allow access to users’ social media accounts,” concluded DPC Deputy Commissioner Graham Doyle.
