Any MMA Fans Out There? Or Insomniacs?: I watch UFC, Bellator, Invicta, etc., events live. These usually show very late Friday or Saturday nights, early prelims at 11:00pm or 12am, main event at 2 or 4am, as they’re mostly from America. Events from Europe or Asia start earlier. I can host 1 to 3 MMA fans if you’d like to join me. My studio in Torrox Costa is small but comfortable and has a huge lawn just outside my door. If so inspired I may even put a TV out on the patio/sidewalk. I have a 55″ “real plasma” HD tv on 300Mb fiber/ethernet, a few recliners, a big fan and a fridge. I smoke and drink and have a big dog. Wood Fired Oven Cooking Course: Saturday September 28th and 19th October
Join us in a superb mountain location in the Alpujarras for a full one day wood fired oven cookery course. Great ‘hands on’ experience using a large wood fired oven. We will be cooking a variety of food, from bread and sweet dishes to baked vegetables and a curry. The day will include a tour of our garden (also open to the public on Fridays and other specified days) and will culminate with a group meal enjoying the proceeds of our labours. Language Tricks: English speakers who try to learn Spanish soon learn they already know a lot of words. Almost anything ending in “…tion”, can be changed to “…cion”, move the accent to the end (or cut off the end for the Andaluz touch), and the word is generally understood in Spanish. Action becomes acción, invention becomes invención, traction becomes tracción, etc.
Well here is some more good news for us Spanglish speakers. What may have started as a tongue-in-cheek joke among Spaniards has now infected the language: Anglicisms are everywhere. Here are some English words and phrases that now work in most of Spain.
-‘50:50’[fifty-fifty]. The universal either-or.
-‘Crazy’ [crray-Z]
-‘Fake’ [fay-k]. As in fake news or Ropa fake (counterfeit clothes). Everyday speech in Spain has been no more immune to the charms of fake news phraseology than anywhere else. Drop this little gem in next to anything you don’t like but can’t be bothered to actually debate.
-‘Fan’ [fan]. The term ‘amante’ (‘lover’, often used for illicit relationships) used to be the word to use when you had strong feelings for something. And now it’s something else: a word from English.
-‘Feeling’ [feel-ing]. The word ‘feeling’ itself has not only dropped into Spanish, but made a strong play for the most-used English word.
-‘Game over’ [gaym-ohver]. A popular TV, movie and social media term that has gained universal recognition.
-‘Heavy’ [hehv-ee]. Refers both to classic rock (your AC/DCs and your Iron Maidens) and anything vaguely deep, strong or powerful.
-‘Oh my God’ [oh-mai-got].
-‘Show / performance’ [per-fohrm-ahnce] [sh-ohw]. These are ‘unnecessary anglicisms,’ according to the Real Academia Española, charged with protecting the correct use of the Spanish language. Which is EXACTLY what we’re looking for.
-‘Vintage’ [Vin-tahj]

Wildfire in Ojen area of Malaga: Reports are coming in from the Prevención y Extinción de Incendios Forestales de Andalucía (INFOCA) of a wildfire in shrub land in the Ojen area of Malaga.
According to the group’s Twitter page, 12 technicians are tending to the blaze as well as two fire prevention vehicles and an extinguishing aircraft.

The concept of 2 factor authentication is good in theory, where you log-in and then receive a security code via text msg to your mobile to complete the log-in process.
Here is the problem: If you lose your mobile you won’t be able to complete the 2-factor log-in. When this happens you get locked out. You will be offered an option if you can’t receive the texted code. They will offer to send a one-time, 1 hour only password reset link to your “recovery” email inbox. Do you even remember what other email address you used as the recovery email to set up the currently unavailable account? If you remember, is it still active? If the recovery email is no longer accessible you will not be able to retrieve the password reset link it contains. At that point you are locked out of the account demanding 2-factor sign-in and it will require many days and emails to support to get back in, and often you will simply be told to make a new account. Unless you are willing to lose all content on your social media, or all your emails and contacts, you need to heed this warning!
Before you encounter this situation do yourself a favor and check all your email and social media account Settings, confirm the recovery email address is current and accessible. While you are in Settings, copy off all the other ID and account info. Facebook often demands your date of birth or location as a security step. If you used a fudged DOB or now have a new location, you’ll want those old answers saved somewhere in case you need them. If you are having trouble with this make an appointment and we can go over it together.

Info Wanted: Does anyone know anywhere in the Axarquía where you can get strong wholemeal bread flour and redbush tea?
The flour probably needs to be an English brand such as Dove’s, Marriages, Allinsons etc as I have been told by my herbolistería that no Spanish brands exist. I would need 10 or 12 bags at a time, so if anyone knows any shop that could order it even if they don’t normally stock it, that would be helpful to know.
I am also looking for Redbush teabags in boxes of 80, Tetley’s, Tick Tock or similar, if again anyone knows any shop that could get these for me.
I have tried Arkwrights in Puente don Manuel, but they are unable to get either of these items for me.

Drug Expiration Dates — Do They Mean Anything? By The Harvard Medical School, updated August 13, 2018.
The big question is, do pills expire? With a splitting headache, you reach into your medicine cabinet for some aspirin only to find the stamped expiration date on the medicine bottle is more than a year out of date. So, does medicine expire? Do you take it or don’t you? If you decide to take the aspirin, will it be a fatal mistake or will you simply continue to suffer from the headache?
It turns out that the expiration date on a drug is the date at which the manufacturer can still guarantee the FULL potency and safety of the drug.
Most of what is known about drug expiration dates comes from a study conducted by the Food and Drug Administration at the request of the military. With a large and expensive stockpile of drugs, the military faced tossing out and replacing its drugs every few years. What they found from the study is 90% of more than 100 drugs, both prescription and over-the-counter, were perfectly good to use even 15 years after the expiration date.
A rare exception to this may be tetracycline, but the report on this is controversial among researchers. It’s true the effectiveness of a drug may decrease over time, but much of the original potency still remains even a decade after the expiration date. Excluding nitroglycerin, insulin, and liquid antibiotics, most medications are as long-lasting as the ones tested by the military. Placing a medication in a cool place, such as a refrigerator, will help a drug remain potent for many years.
Is the expiration date a marketing ploy by drug manufacturers, to keep you restocking your medicine cabinet and their pockets regularly? You can look at it that way. Or you can also look at it this way: The expiration dates are very conservative to ensure you get everything you paid for. And, really, if a drug manufacturer had to do expiration-date testing for longer periods it would slow their ability to bring you new and improved formulations.

LGBT Wonder Gay Festival- Torremolinos: Monday 22 until Sunday 28 July. Gay themed beach and pool parties, drag shows and concerts at different locations in the town centre and on the Bajondillo Beach.

Scam Alert: Filled up with fuel at Cepsa on the R4 yesterday near Madrid. My wife paid with a card while I stayed at the car. When she came back she looked at the price shown on the pump and realised that the amount shown on the card receipt was for 10€ more. She spoke to the cashier who pretended that he could not understand how this happened. He refunded the 10€. I wonder how many times he tries this scam each day!

Argintina is doing it’s part to save the world from global warming by collecting cow farts: Some Argentine cattle farmers have outfitted their cows with backpacks that act as containers for cow farts. -Thursday July 18th – Coach Excursion to Gibraltar. Why not join Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar and visit Gibraltar, a chance to take a Cable Car to the top of the Rock, see the Unique Barbary Apes. Visit the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, where you will find the Historic Tunnels dating from 1779-1783 and St. Michael´s Cave. Both of these have guided tours. In the town can be seen the Gibraltar Museum, Government House and in the Southern area are key historical sites. They can alter content you send and receive, documents, forms, photos, recordings, anything really, tricking you into sending payments/deposits/personal details/etc to the hackers. The malware app can instantaneously analyze and manipulate incoming files.
While this problem is fixed in the next major Android Update, many Android users neglect these updates, or have old devices incapable of installing the latest updates, perpetuating the problem and keeping the hackers busy.

Review: Mid-2019 MacBook Pro 13″ with 2 Thunderbolt Ports, a disposable (un-repairable) laptop.
The MacBook Pro 13″ with Two Thunderbolt Ports earns a very poor 2 out of 10 on our repairability scale (10 is the easiest to repair). See full report at www.ifixit.com Link:
-The battery assembly is glued into the case, complicating the replacement of a part that will wear out eventually.
-The Function button has been replaced with a Touch Bar, and a Touch ID sensor is added.
-The Headphone jack is back.
-Soldered-in RAM limits upgradability and longevity. Only an Apple Shop can safely do the upgrade.
-The SSD is no longer replaceable except by an Apple Shop, it is soldered in and is protected by an anti-tampering device. Note Apple will NOT do this repair on out-of-warranty devices! Another prime example of Apple’s forced obsolesce policy.
-The keyboard has a bad reputation, many users recommend getting the Apple Extended Warranty just to cover this issue as Apple will not sell replacement parts to non-Apple repair services. Third party non-Apple made replacement keyboards are available, but are often of poor quality and never seem to fit quite right.
-Having third party repairs by a non-Apple shop instantly voids your warranty and Apple will NOT service a device after any such repair. Yes, they can tell! If the blue screw cement on the frame screws is cracked and the device does not have a dated official Apple Repair sticker inside, they will decline to work on it, and enter that info into their universal Apple Repair database, effectively blacklisting your device from future repairs!
Summary: This is a “disposable device”, more like a tablet than a laptop, built to be replaced, not repaired. Apple is doing all they can to prevent their devices being serviced by 3rd party repair shops. This model is lacking in internal cooling which negatively impacts the processor speed; upgrade to the other 13″ model with double cooling fans if you need more CPU performance. With a price tag of €1,300 to €2,500, depending on options, unless you are dedicated to Mac iOS you can get a similar device for far less, a MS Surface, although the Surface is also virtually un-repairable!
