Quiz at La Tasca: The next Axarquia animal rescue quiz will be held on Wednesday 13th at 3pm at La Tasca cafeteria in Torre del Mar. All proceeds go to help the animals. This Friday 8th February “The Bilbao Effect on Modern Spanish Architecture” by Rafael Anderson. This is a repeat of last Friday’s excellent Talk. Rafa is an Architect who has worked on some very interesting projects.

Malagalingo: Free Spanish cinema series every Thursday afternoon in Malagalingo (short films)
Starting on February, every Thursday at 6:30 pm you can come to Malagalingo to watch for free a Spanish short film with an approximate duration of between 10 and 20 minutes.
All of them will be in Spanish language and with subtitles in Spanish when it is possible to find them or with English subtitles when it is not possible.
At the end of the short film until 7:30 pm we will also have a little chat in spanish to comment on the film and practice a little Spanish language
You are all invited to attend for free every Thursday (until full capacity).
We are in Torrox Costa, just opposite Mercadona and BBVA, in the main entrance door that is between MAPFRE and ÓPTICA SALTO, in the first floor. Pets

A New Home for Bertie: “I’m sooo bored with my current staff”.
I rescued Bertie in 2011 from the clutches of local kids who were treating him badly. They consider kittens fair game as entertainment round here. He is still very kittenish at heart and loves games (has a great poker face!).
He is up to date with all his vaccinations, has his passport and is chipped.
I am moving back to a flat in the UK where, unfortunately, the keeping of pets is not permitted.

Car Boot/Market: The regular “1st Sunday of the month” Car Boot sale/market is at El Pantano Restaurant car park, overlooking Lake Vinuela, on Sunday 3rd February 9.30am to 1.pm. Easy to find on the A356 towards Colmenar.
Drive over the bridge crossing Lake Vinuela and the car park/bar is just ahead on the right hand side. Plenty of parking. There are always bargains galore, old and new.

-Tuesday February 5th & 19th – Photography Group. From “Good Shot” to “Great Shot”, why not come and learn the art of photography with Rob Bell Photography. WHAT!?! Microsoft browser warns users! Don’t trust Daily Mail website? Who are they to Judge? – DoctorLaptop’s Computer News
NewsGuard Is Coming! Microsoft is rolling out a news censoring feature named NewsGuard.
Edge browser users on Android and Apple devices can already just click one button to enable it’s news censor NewsGuard, a “green-red”  rating signal if a website is trying to get it right or instead has a hidden agenda or knowingly publishes falsehoods or propaganda” – as determined by Who!?! It will eventually show up in other devices and web browsers like Chrome, Firefox and Edge. NewsGuard has green-lighted CNN, The Guardian, Buzzfeed and NY Times; it has red-lighted the Daily Mail, Russia Today and Drudge Report.
This week Microsoft began installing it automatically on all mobile editions of its Edge browser in the first stage of what it’s creators hope will be a widespread roll-out to all computers and devices. Edge browser users should receive a pop-up explaining the new service. They can choose to opt-in on the mobile browser itself.
Understandably, independent news agencies and internet freedom watchdogs are very concerned about how, and by whom, the trustworthiness rating will be determined.

Also, look for website blocking lists to be installed in the hardware of new comps and mobile devices. Computer manufacturers will use lists of  “undesirable” web addresses that will be blocked no matter what system you are running. IPTV portals and streaming sites are sure to be targeted; that’s exactly what happened to some MAG IPTV boxes a few months ago.  One system update and all your favs are blocked. Another dirty trick Microsoft is doing is requiring computer manufacturers to use new processors that prevent previous versions of Windows from being compatible. No good old Win 7, and maybe no Linux, on that Windows 10 laptop you buy next year. Of course this will also  require many people and businesses to buy new Win 10 versions of all their favorite old programs

Malagalingo: Free Spanish cinema series every Thursday afternoon in Malagalingo (short films)
Starting on February, every Thursday at 6:30 pm you can come to Malagalingo to watch for free a Spanish short film with an approximate duration of between 10 and 20 minutes.
All of them will be in Spanish language and with subtitles in Spanish when it is possible to find them or with English subtitles when it is not possible.
At the end of the short film until 7:30 pm we will also have a little chat in spanish to comment on the film and practice a little Spanish language
You are all invited to attend for free every Thursday (until full capacity).
We are in Torrox Costa, just opposite Mercadona and BBVA, in the main entrance door that is between MAPFRE and ÓPTICA SALTO, in the first floor. Our School is located one step away from Hotel Iberostar, so it has a very simple and free parking always available on the esplanade right next to the hotel. Attention American Readers! Delta Airlines Malaga – NYC flights return: Delta Airlines announces their Malaga-JFK route is returning. The daily flights, at 8.15am, will run from 24 May until the end of September.

Junta de Andalucia offers free colon cancer tests that can be taken from home:
THE Junta de Andalucia’s programme for early detection of colon and rectal cancer is currently in full swing as letters are being sent out to people in Andalucia to apply for the free test from the luxury of their own home.
According to the authority, the test is available to people between the age of 50 and 69, who only have to fill in a form in order to receive the test material at their front door.
