Plasterer: Phil Stockton. Phil is an excellent plasterer who has just blended an existing room for us to new window columns and the ceiling, including additional internal and exterior columns. No small task as the window is 10 metres wide. Phil has payed such attention to detail that the finish is probably the highest standard anyone could ask for. He is also a great problem solver and hid electrical sockets into support columns with no chasing We can highly recommend him. Alas, when someone is as good as this you have to stand in line, as we did, because he is in big demand. So if you need a good plasterer I recommend that you plan ahead because Phil has quite a few months of work in his diary, but you will not be disappointed with the end result. Pedicure and Nails: Following the advert for Nicki Russell’s Nails in the 2nd December DigameXtra, I decided to treat myself to a pedicure this week, in time for Christmas. I was really impressed with my treatment, and felt very pampered and relaxed. Nicki was very thorough and my feet still feel lovely and soft. Tech Tip by DoctorLaptop: Windows 10 Creator’s Update v1809 has begun to reach local computers…again. After a few false starts since the buggy update was first recalled by Microsoft in early October, it is now back for general distribution. I have it running on 2 laptops now and have experienced no problems. It was a large download and took over 2 hrs on a 100Mb/s fiber internet connection. Then the install process took another 2 hrs. Then, as after all Creator’s Updates, I had to go re-do all my settings as these semi-annual updates reset everything back to the defaults where Microsoft wants them. Especially important if your computer was upgraded to Win 10 from a previous version of Windows is to turn off Fast Start in the Power Options Settings. Leaving this on can block future Windows weekly updates from installing correctly, often leading to major problems like video driver corruption.
This fixed Update has been available in some areas for 2 weeks now and I’ve seen no alarming reports, so I think we are going to have to accept it now and hope for the best.
Although I complain about a lot about Win 10, I must give credit when it’s due. There are some exciting new features in this Creator’s Update, however, considering the rocky start this Update has had I want to test them before I let you all in on that.

Van Services: Archgrove Services is a family run light haulage and van services company based in Archez. Our brand new van is fully insured and is running return trips between the UK and Southern Spain on a monthly basis, however, any location or job within Europe will be considered. The dates of travel will be scheduled but, where possible, we are happy to amend or add to these dates to meet customer needs.

Lots of sun, sights, sculptures and live Baroque music to inspire you as you linger among the many and varied trees and shrubs in our extensive Garden.
We encourage you to come and meet our accomplished Artist-in-Residence, Michael Binkley from Vancouver as he carves beautiful marble sculptures.

-Fri: 5-9pm Fish & Chips Night. Beer Battered Cod or Hake with Homemade Chips and our own Homemade Mushy Peas €7.00
-Sat: All the sports shown live on our 2 TV’s in the afternoon, with free snacks and nibbles. 9pm Karaoke with Carlos. This is our second week of Karaoke and it’s a proper hoot! Carlos is a pro and gets everyone in the mood for fun and craic!
-Sun: 2-7pm Traditional Sunday Roast. Choose from Roast Beef, Slow Roasted Shoulder of Pork, or Roast Chicken. Roast & Mashed Potatoes, carrots, brocoli w/ cheese sauce, peas, and all our Yorkshire puddings, stuffing and gravy is homemade. €8.00. 8.30pm The Candlelight Sessions hosted by Paul Hayes. A cozy night of acoustic music playing folk, blues, rock, modern and old-timey. A bunch of us sit around the table playing whatever suits the atmosphere of the room, or whatever requests people have. New musicians always welcome.
-Mon: Closed
-Tue: Raffle Night at 7pm. €1.00 per ticket. Win whole chickens, beef fillet, rack of ribs, itpork chops, chocolate, lots more, and our booby prize ‘a bag of crisps’! This night is a favourite of the ex-pat community in Torrox and a lovely evening for friends to chat and catch-up.
-Wed: Live Music with Johnny Unplugged and friends. A lively night for musicians to play together and rock-out guaranteed to get you dancing. 9pm
We now have our “Fiver Dinners” bar menu back. 5-9pm every day. Choose from: Beef & Guinness Stew, Chicken Curry, Burger & Chips, BBQ Pulled Pork. All meals €5.00
We are now into the 4th week at our new location, and would like to thank all our old customers for coming with us, and also big thanks to the new ones. It’s our customers that create the atmosphere at the bar, and we really appreciate it.
