Agaus Narixa – Bill increases: I have been into the office to query the additional charges to the water bill. I was told that these ‘adjustments’ are retrospective price increases which will date back to 2013. They are adding one year at a time to each bill. So far we have paid 2015-17, so just 2 more years to go. I pointed out that we had only owned our house for one year and was told that you inherit the debt on the house. I hope that helps. Damage to electrical equipment: Over the last week or so we have experienced damage to a number of electrical items in our house. A compact cd player, digital alarm, phone charger and internet signal transformer have all stopped working for no apparent reason, and we are having problems with the electrical pump which provides pressure for water from our water deposit tank. Not all plugged-in items have been damaged: kettle, electric blanket, and other phone chargers are fine. The items stopped working at various times. Russells British Store at Torrox: We popped into Russells in Torrox yesterday for the first time for quite a while and were so impressed by how much the shop has changed since a previous visit. It now feels like a proper supermarket and is stacked to the ceiling with wonderful products and so much choice and we came out with a loaded basket. It was full of other people stacking baskets too. Just wanted to tell those of you that live on the coast that it is well worth a visit.

Ryanair makes second change in a year to hand-baggage rules: Customers of the Irish airline will have to pay between €6 and €25 for certain sizes of case, and even then not all travelers will be able to take them onto the aircraft. Information on damage to our car: Car badly dented Competa Wednesday afternoon. Our newly acquired light blue Ford C-Max was badly dented in the left rear wing while parked on the upper level of the town car park in Competa between 1 pm and 4 pm during the afternoon of Wednesday November 7th. See photo. From the amount of dirt that fell out of the chassis under the car and the size of the dent, the car was hit with some force, probably by an SUV given the location of the damage. It cannot have escaped the notice of anybody involved. Did you see this incident? Can you help us with the details of the vehicle (or sledgehammer) involved? Dog dumping: A note to the irresponsible and thoughtless person(s) who (Wednesday morning), took it upon themselves to abandon a young dog by placing it within the fully fenced confines of my finca without notice or permission…
If somehow, you had the confounded notion that you were doing good by ‘rehoming’ the poor creature in this manner, you were in a sense correct, as the dog has now found his ‘forever” home in heaven, where the Almighty always had room for such unfortunate and misersble castoffs.
Should I ever see you, yourself, round about the area again, I shall be happy to notify whatever authorities necessary to deal lawfully with you as well.

Christmas Market La Tabla Torrox Park: The count down to Christmas begins this Saturday 10th November from 11am at La Tabla Commerial Centre Torrox Park. New, artisan and secondhand stalls, Christmas gifts,decorations, cards,cakes, chocolates, and even the odd pickled onion! Chutneys and jams. The list goes on. Dog Attack: I want to warn people walking their dogs around the Penoncillo apartments Torrox Costa at night. Last night 6/11/2018 at 21.15 hours my wife was walking our dog and she (the dog ) was attacked by another dog that came out of nowhere, she got 3 puncture wounds that bled. My wife was pulled over by our dog trying to escape the attack,various people helped my wife and dog,one person actually said to my wife that she knew the dog and don’t walk near where it lives. This is just a warning to dog walkers. We are going to vets and asking them to inform Police and try and get this owner to take responsibility of their dog. Thank you Ian Walker .

Recommendation: Wayne’s Drains. Just wanted to say how pleased we were with Wayne’s Drains who came to our aid and swiftly sorted us out when we had an emergency drain problem (roots were found completely blocking the pipe!). They located and accessed the drain under the bathroom floor and installed a new inspection cover. They did a professional job, leaving it clean and tidy afterwards.

Car Valet: I would also like to recommend Warren James who valeted our extremely hairy car, before the arrival of 2 friends, one of whom has pet allergies. He definitely went the extra mile, shampooing the upholstery 3 times and taking an extra hour to do so, for no extra charge. Our friends have now been and gone. Three days of being ferried around including from Malaga to Competa and back, without a single sneeze or watery eye. A job really well done, Warren! Warren Phillips, Car valeting/cleaning: Warren came highly recommended on Dígame but he is even more brilliant than we expected. Warren’s attention to detail is remarkable. He said that he would restore the car to showroom condition and he returned a “new” six-year old car to us, even having managed to remove the ‘dinks’ from the bonnet caused by a hailstorm. Our other 15 year old runaround now also looks absolutely pristine both inside and out. Warren provides a full collection and return service and the whole package represents good value for money with an efficient, friendly service. Excellent.

DoctorLaptop’s November Special: New Computer Setups €30 (25% off). Setting up a brand new Windows 10 computer can be challenging if you’ve never done it before. Dozens of choices to be made using terms you may not know, or asking about functions you didn’t even know exist. Right away Cortana, the digital virtual assistant, starts asking you questions and expects you to talk to her! Unless you know what you’re doing it may be better to let me setup and optimize your new computer, in your language, with the keyboard your prefer, and with the programs you need. It is best if you bring it to me without ever starting it. Once started up the 1st time the setup process begins and it MUST be completed, interrupting the initial setup risks damaging the system, possibly requiring a complete reinstall of Windows. There are some choices made in the setup that are difficult to change after the setup is finished. Not to mention that most new comps require a ton of Windows Updates, and we all know how dodgy installing large batches of Windows 10 updates can be! Save yourself the frustration and patience draining hassle, leave it to me.
Also: Microsoft Office 2019 Pro Plus is now available.
