U3A Axarquia
The U3A Axarquia is loosely based on but not affiliated to the U3A in the UK and the association has been running here in the Axarquia since 2009. Our aim to promote activities for learning for pleasure. We are a sociable association run by the members for the members, open to all English speaking adults of any nationality. Group leaders are volunteers and we are always pleased to welcome anyone who wishes to share their knowledge and skills. If you see something of interest, please feel free to come along to a group and try it out before deciding to join the U3A.
Activity Programme – Monday 15th – Friday 19th October:
-Monday 15th Petanque: 3pm, meet in the carpark west of the lighthouse in Torre del Mar. If you like to take part in this enjoyable game (Spain’s answer to bowls) come along and learn or improve your skill. Our aim is to enjoy ourselves while learning the rules and techniques.
-Wednesday 17th Chiki’s Creative Circle: 11am, meet at Chiki Beach Club in Algarrobo Costa-Mezquitilla. CCC provides the environment where U3A members come and enjoy working independently on their own projects such as knitting, crochet, lace making, leather crafts, painting, writing bead work etc. No guidance is given and participants are expected to purchase a refreshment. New for this month, alongside the Creative Circle, Norma will be running 2 new activities at Chiki’s on Wednesday both starting at 11am. Spanish Coaching: Learning a new language is a fabulous experience. However the journey can be trying. Spanish Coaching will assist you, provided you come with your own materials and with a specific area of interest. Norma will listen to you and offer you guidance on the spot either individually or in a small group. No fee but participants are expected to purchase a refreshment. Welcoming New Comers to Axarquia: Norma and other U3A members will be happy to meet and greet prospective U3A members, and detail the many activities offered under the U3A umbrella.
-Thursday 18th Mahjong: 10.30am, meet at Bar Restaurant La Esperanza in Benajarafe. Whether you have played before or simply want to find out about and perhaps even learn to play the game you will be very welcome.
-Thursday 18th Meditation & Relaxation: 11.30am meet in Torrox. Learn to experience a sense of relaxation and calm through simple mindful breathing practices, in a peaceful location. Residencia Help/guidance needed: Hi to all knowledgeable Digamites out there. I need help about renewal of Residencia(residency in Spain). I have been a resident(UK Citizen) in Andalusia for just under 5 years. A few days ago a German friend told me i have to renew the “Residencia”(The little green card) after 5 years which i was not aware of (excuse the ignorance). Is this correct? Do i need to apply again and if so, how long does the whole the process take? Is this time for permanent Residency that my friend said it would automatically be? I seem to remember it took a few minutes when i first applied in Torre Del Mar Policia 5 years ago, my question is if i need to renew the little green card, is it as quick and simple as it was back then? Please let me have a precise and step by step guidance to this.
