New Year, Same Old Scams: Reports of internet and phone scams are on the rise. The 3 top scams currently being reported are:
-Fake Court Appointment Email. Reports suggest you don’t even need to open an attachment to activate the malware, simply opening the email is sufficient to get infected. And yes, this is technically possible and has been documented.
-Account Closure Announcement. Sent email pretends to be from your account provider. You are instructed to click a link to prevent the account closure, which actually does nothing besides infect your computer.
-Call from Microsoft Support. This one is almost 20yrs old but people still fall for it. Someone claiming to be from Microsoft calls to inform you problems have been detected in your computer system and you must follow some instructions to fix it, often a payment is also requested. Fact: Microsoft will never call you unless you call them first and request a callback.
The easiest way to spot email scams is to check the sender’s email address. If it is different from the service they pretend to represent it is fake. Example: a Gmail warning sent from a hotmail.com address. Also check the header of the email to see the recipient’s list it was sent to. If there are multiple addresses it was sent to, or if it says ” undisclosed recipients”, it is fake. -Naythan

Torrox Pueblo Art Group: Now in its 8th year. We commence our winter session on Wednesday 23 January- Wednesday 13 March 2019.
The group is very sociable and consists of various nationalities and abilities. It’s ideal for the complete beginner to the more established artist.
We cover lots of subjects – Portraiture, Landscape, Animals and Still Life, with the recent addition of pebble painting.
We meet at La Casa Restaurant in the main square at Torrox Pueblo from Wednesday the 23 January, 10.30 – 1.30.
All mediums are used – Oil, Acrylic, Watercolour, Charcoal and Pencil.

Didgeridoo Sessions: I sincerely invite you to individual or group one hour didgeridoo sessions.
Didgeridoo or Yidaki, is a traditional brass instrument. Aboriginal believe that the sound of this “windy instrument” created the world and everything in it. Deep vibrations connect us with the power of the Earth. This original, unique sound by tuning to the Earth and to the human body, clears with vibrations that open our chakras. In this way, Yidaki moves us into Unknown, into the dreaming state, that is why Aborigines gave it a nickname: “dreaming a pipe”.
Antique vibrations that are carried by didgeridoo often help us to enter into a deep state of relaxation and trance. These subtle states of consciousness, which we do not experience in every day life, support our ability to listen to our self, body and spirit. DoctorLaptop Tech Note, Windows 10 Creator’s Update OCT 2018, v1809: I previously suggested readers delay installing the Windows 10 v1809 Creator’s Update as it was buggy. It has been fixed and reissued so no need to delay installing it anymore. Be aware it’s very large and will take 2 or more hours to download and install on a 30Mb/s internet connection. On a slow connection it could take all day. You will need at least 18Gb of free space and the download is 5-8Gb. Some computers, especially computers upgraded from Win 7 or Win 8 to Win 10, may experience problems so it’s a good idea to backup your data onto an external memory device before doing any large updates. And remember, all your system settings get reset to the defaults by these Creator’s Updates. You will need to re-do any customization to the settings. Don’t worry if you don’t see the v1809 update on your computer, when there are v1809 drivers available for your computer it will get the update.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW IF YOU CHANGED THE SYSTEM LANGUAGE: The Creator’s Update v1809 can return your system to the original language the computer had installed and also the original keyboard layout. If you don’t know how to change system languages or keyboard layouts I suggest you learn how as you may soon wake up to a computer in Spanish; it’s very simple in Windows 10. IMPORTANT TO KNOW IF YOU HAVE A SMALL HARD DISK OR SSD: Some devices have only 32Gb of storage. If you don’t have 18Gb free space you will not be able to update to v1809 the normal way. You’ll need to do it this way- You need to clear at least 8.5Gb of free space, download the Windows 10 Update Assistant program and when you run it have a blank 32Gb USB Flash drive on hand. If this process is not clear to you then you probably should not try it.

Wanted, Decorating tips: Decorating tips for new plaster and grout maintenance. I wonder if anybody can give me some tips or advice with either of the above. We had some refurbishment done on our one floor house in Torrox, and all walls have been replastered. The bottom parts of the wall included a finish to help protect from damp. However in some places the white emulsion paint is starting to bubble and flake off, has anybody experienced this, and what is their advice.
Also the grout between all the tiles is a brown colour, and in a couple of places during the winter a slight crystallised fungus formed, it cleans off easily enough when mopped but does lighten the colour of the grout, again anybody have any tips or advice. Deborah

A couple of days of wandering has not been unusual but it has been 4 days now. If you see him you will notice a terrible scabby skin around his neck and back. Meson Mudejar curry night with live music: It’s Fiesta Friday Curry Night (and every Friday) at Meson Mudejar, Calle Alamos 6, Archez, at the area’s first plant-based (vegan) restaurant, Meson Mudejar, a couple of kilometres below Canillas de Albaida in the quaint and authentic small white village of Archez. Missing cat, have you seen him: Our cat, really a campo cat, has not been seen for a few days. A couple of days of wandering has not been unusual but it has been 4 days now. Caminito del Rey trip: Viajes Alcodalla has a few spare places for this day trip on Tuesday 22nd of January 2019. The Caminito del Rey walk is spectacular all along the path: from the Guadalhorce Reservoir to its end at El Chorro Dam. Placed in a unique natural surrounding, the path stretches between two gorges/canyons and a large valley, along pathways and boardwalks. The route is linear and 10,5 km from one end to the other. -New management has reopened the former Nando’s Tasca in Torrox Costa, no word on the new name yet.
-Richi’s Pollo Adasor Cafe (rotisserie chicken) now also does whole rabbits & a variety of meat roasts with 24hrs notice. BLK 77 Torrox Costa
-People have been asking why there were no New Years fireworks in Torrox Costa. The beachfront was virtually empty at midnight. Here are 2 pics of the Torre del Mar fireworks viewed from the deserted Torrox Playa. Sorry about the quality, it’s the best I could do while also holding on to a nervous dog’s lead, a bottle of cava and a cigarette.

Night Bus Torrox to Nerja: Looking at the Alsa bus schedule site I notice they have added two more buses after 10pm from Torrox Costa to Nerja at 22:40 and 23:10. But no new night buses from Nerja to Torrox? There is a link to the bus schedule in the Useful Links section of DigameXtra. -Ed.

Dog Info: Regarding the posts on the advert for selling of puppies by Digamextra. I have just read the ad and the comments and would like to add the following points. First of all one of the parents is an Akito which is classed as a dangerous dog in Spain. Therefore it needs registration and licensing. The puppies will also be classed as dangerous dogs. There is no doubt an official government site but here is the basic information.
