Thefts: Recently several items have been stolen from outside properties in my neighbour hood – Manzano Alto (Torrox). Metal grates from a water drainage canal were stolen. Another neighbour had the spare wheel stolen off the back of his 4×4. An unfamiliar couple had been loitering. They stood out like a sore thumb. Be aware. Sunday Eucharist Services
Almuñécar
9.30 am – Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (The Fishermen’s Chapel). This small chapel is situated towards the western end of the beach and set back near the Chinasol Hotel and seafront. There is a Eucharist every Sunday from November through to March, and there is a Eucharist service on every alternative Sunday (1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in April, May, September and October). There are no services during the hot summer months of June, July and August.
Nerja
12.00 noon – Iglesia de San Miguel, Plaza Andalucía. There is a Eucharist service at this time throughout the year. The church is within easy walking distance of the first large roundabout as you drive into town from the Malaga direction, by the bus station.

Updated- Rain Coming Monday morning?: All the major weather services agree for the Gib to Almeria area there is a good chance of rain showers from Monday 2am till possibly as late as 2am Tuesday. Accuweather says there’s a 50-60% chance of thunderstorms at 9am, 3pm and 9pm, none of the others I checked mentioned thunderstorms. Be alert to possible flash flooding. If you suspect lightning, and don’t use protective UPS power supplies for your electronics, unplug your computers and router. Circuit breakers and typical surge protecting power strips, while good at protecting your appliances, are insufficient to protect the more delicate computer gear from a lightning generated power surge. -Ed.

Art Exhibition and Wine Tasting in Moclín, Granada:

To mark the end of our Botanical Watercolour Painting Course, we are hosting a wine-tasting, local produce and exhibition evening. There will also be an exhibition of work produced by our guests during the week. Bodega Calvente will be on hand with a selection of 5 different wines to try and buy, and we will be joined by Andalucia Delicatessen from Granada with a range of local products to sample – jamon, cheeses and olive oils.
The €20 price for the evening includes the open wine bar, tapas and products supplied by Andalucia Delicatessen. The price also contributes to foster cultural activities in and around Moclín.

Pets

Dog Owners: This is a warning to dog owners who open their door in the early morning and let your dogs wonder of in the campo. I live in Carraspite Sayalonga,and this morning I was woken up at around seven o’clock by an noise sounding like crying whining and splashing, turning on my lights found a large black Labrador type dog in the pool half under the cover almost drowned, When I went outside to see if I could get it out there was a large German Shepherd type dog also on my terrace,obviously they were together but I wasn’t sure if it was going to be aggressive if I went to the other dog but it stayed to the side . I couldn’t let the other dog drown so I managed to get it out of the pool with a lot of struggling,and they both ran off .
If you own a dog and can’t be bothered to take it out for a walk then I suggest you are not a fit person to own one and should get rid of them.

Competa Church Services in English:
-The November Service will be on the second Sunday, November the 10th, instead of the usual first Sunday. The 10th is, of course, Remembrance Sunday, and the Service will be accordingly a Remembrance Day one with the customary Two Minutes’ Silence.

Sunday Eucharist Services
Almuñécar
9.30 am – Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (The Fishermen’s Chapel). This small chapel is situated towards the western end of the beach and set back near the Chinasol Hotel and seafront. There is a Eucharist every Sunday from November through to March, and there is a Eucharist service on every alternative Sunday (1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in April, May, September and October). There are no services during the hot summer months of June, July and August.
Nerja
12.00 noon – Iglesia de San Miguel, Plaza Andalucía. There is a Eucharist service at this time throughout the year. The church is within easy walking distance of the first large roundabout as you drive into town from the Malaga direction, by the bus station.

Welcome to the services of the Anglican Parish of Nerja and Almuñécar:
Our parish seeks to serve the spiritual and pastoral needs of the mainly English-speaking community in Nerja, Almuñécar, and surrounding area. It is our commitment to draw them into a closer relationship with God and his church. We are kindly offered the use of local Roman Catholic churches.
Sunday Eucharist Services
Almuñécar
9.30 am – Capilla de Nuestra Señora del Carmen (The Fishermen’s Chapel). This small chapel is situated towards the western end of the beach and set back near the Chinasol Hotel and seafront. There is a Eucharist every Sunday from November through to March, and there is a Eucharist service on every alternative Sunday (1st and 3rd Sundays of the month in April, May, September and October). There are no services during the hot summer months of June, July and August.
Nerja
12.00 noon – Iglesia de San Miguel, Plaza Andalucía. There is a Eucharist service at this time throughout the year. The church is within easy walking distance of the first large roundabout as you drive into town from the Malaga direction, by the bus station.

Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar coming excursions:
-Saturday October 12th- Excursion to the Salon of Varieties to see “Oliver”.
-Thursday October 17th – Coach Excursion to Gibraltar. Why not join Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar and visit Gibraltar, a chance to take a Cable Car to the top of the Rock, see the Unique Barbary Apes. Visit the Upper Rock Nature Reserve, where you will find the Historic Tunnels dating from 1779-1783 and St. Michael´s Cave. Both of these have guided tours. In the town can be seen the Gibraltar Museum, Government House and in the Southern area are key historical sites. All information may be obtained from the Tourist Office, or an excellent alternative way of seeing the sights is by hiring a taxi, whose drivers are very knowledgeable and will explain the interesting, historical life of the Rock. It is also an opportunity to purchase Duty Free Items and typical English items of food, etc. from the Morrisons Super Market. Ticket price 13 Euros, or with Friends of Lux Mundi Card 12 Euros available at the Centre. Departure times Puente don Manuel (Bar Mis Tapitas) 6.45, Algarrobo (Lidl) 7.15, Caleta (Vets) 7.20 and Torre Del Mar (Bus Station) 7.30. Depart Gibraltar15.30 approximately. PASSPORTS / I.D. REQUIRED.

Prema bar Torre del Mar: Prema in Sanscrit means “LOVE”, the same we feel towards Life. Our project started with an inspiring phrase coined by the poet Wendell Berry: “eating is an agricultural act” and which is why we have created our own organic vegetable garden. Our food is made with love. We believe in the importance of fresh, healthy and local products, so have chosen to sell articles from la Axarquia (the region of Malaga) that are situated on display, demonstrating a model of local consumption which could radically influence the world’s development.
This journey of love continues with the events we organise, such as exhibitions of painting and photography, live music, storytelling, film or documentary screenings, talks about the environment with specific activities such as cleaning local beaches, etc..
Conscious that the children are the future, we have dedicated a cozy playground zone. You are welcome at PREMA, and by supporting our project, together we will sow the seeds of Love.
