Lost Pet Cat
This is Dumpy, our cat. Last year she got lost and returned after 9 days,
but now she is gone again! She is last seen at the 27th of January.
She is chipped and sterilised.
She wears an orange tiger printed collar with a bell.
We live just above Canillas de Albaida, so it is likely that she is
somewhere in the Canillas/Competa area.

Forthcoming Referendum re EU
The forthcoming Referendum regarding leaving the EU could have far-reaching effects on ex-pats here in Spain (and other European countries), in many areas, including exchange rates and healthcare – to name but two!
The British Embassy in Madrid is supporting a campaign led by the Electoral Commission to make British expatriates in Spain aware that they may be able to register to vote in the forthcoming EU Referendum. It seems that very many expatriates don’t realise they may be eligible to vote, and very few are registered to do so.
The Embassy is distributing the attached 8-point guide on how to register. If you have contacts with whom the guide can be shared, or events or venues where the issue can be discussed, then please do. All that British expats need to do is check their eligibility, and then visit www.gov.uk/register-to-vote to make sure they can have their say.
It takes only around 5 minutes – all you need is to have your NI number and your passport to hand, then follow the instructions on the following site:-

Warning ! Bogus Gasmen
A neighbour here in Pago santilla, Torrox (Yesterday near the football stadium) received a visit from 2 Spanish chaps demanding to inspect her gas installation.
On being asked to identify themselves they produced a document purportedly from the Junta de Andalucia, but on being quizzed further about they worked for they jumped back in the car – and sped off! A foto of the car is attached – beware!
Nerja Intercambio Needed
I have been learning Spanish for a few years but have little opportunity to try it out in normal conversation. Does anyone know of any Intercambios or conversation groups in Nerja or would fancy starting a new one?

To the person that posted about Passport pictures. Thank you, I was going to get passport pictures done today at the studio near the police station, I will not have a wasted trip now. I am Flying to the UK soon and need to go to the passport office in Durham to renew my passport. Can anyone tell me what I need to take, and can I get the passport photo’s done at the office.

Recommendation Buddha House, Torrox Costa Genuinely authentic and wonderful food!
The recently opened ‘Buddha House’ restaurant serves delicious Nepalese
and Indian food. It was such a pleasure to sample the excellent fare
for a second time last night. I have to spread the word.
‘Buddha House’ is situated in the same place a ‘Route 66’ the Harley
Davidson motorcycle shop on the main road just outside Torrox Costa on
the way to Nerja.
The Owners and staff have a lifetime of Nepalese
experience of running restaurants, one of the family has another
restaurant in Barcelona.
The service is excellent, they are charming people, and the food is gorgeous.

I would like to endorse the earlier recommendation for the Budda House Indian restaurant in Torrox Costa.
Went last night and it was superb, the best we have had in 18 years living in Spain. Faultless quality,

Now returning to the normal monthly schedule after the New Year break…………
The Car boot sale/market at El Pantano Restaurant car park, overlooking Lake Vinuela, on Sunday 7th February. 9.30am to 1.pm.
Easy to find on the A356 towards Colmenar.
Drive over the bridge crossing Lake Vinuela and the car park/bar is just ahead on the right hand side. Plenty of parking.
There are always bargains galore……….. old and new.
- Lots of locally grown fresh fruit and veg.
- Homemade chutney, jams and pickles
- Plants, shrubs, flowers and herbs.

- Always a good selection of DIY tools.

Come along and enjoy a morning browsing and picking up a few bargains at this well established monthly market, which attracts visitors from far and near. A super location. The restaurant has shaded terraces overlooking the lake and many customers sit and enjoy a coffee or a tapa and a drink and catch up with friends and acquaintances for a chat. Many even stay and choose lunch from the varied menu available.
Bar is open from 9.30am serving coffee/drinks/food.
