I would  be interested in the flea market information as have several old / antiques smalls to sell and don’t know where to go with them?

Did think about Fuengirola but it appears to have a 5 year waiting list                          so I was told… And Nerja seems like a bit of a mess with the casuals on a Sunday morning all huddled around!

End of the Non-Resident Traffic Story

As there has been some interest in our plight, I feel I must inform the readers of Digamextra of the end of the story.
I was stopped by our  ‘guardians’ at the round-a-bout at Maro, driving my Spanish registered car with a Norwegian licence. Despite the fact that I insisted 10 times that I lived in Norway and had a holiday home here, this gentleman meant that I was a resident and therefore should have a Spanish licence. I told him that I had had a holiday home in Nerja for 15 years. This may have been his problem, but there was no room for argument.
I applied for a Non Resident Certificate form at Torre Del Mar, and after a week of driving back and forwards was able to collect it. It cost 7 Euro and is valid for only three months.
I took the form to my lawyer who told me it should not be necessary to have this form in the car, and that the fine of 200 Euros (100 if paid within 15 days) was wrong. He could write a letter for me at a cost of 150 Euros and all would be well. I have declined his offer and will pay the 100 Euro fine, although it rancours, and all is out of the world.
The moral of the story is “Stick in at you Spanish lessons”, there is little empathy in any police force, and certainly not in this one.

Regarding the rental law related to the date of 11 May 2016, I would like to
inform you about the following:
The 11th May is not a deadline. What will happen from the 11th May is that
the 3-month-period starts in which people can voluntarily declare that they
rent out their properties for periods less than 2 months.
So basically if you do rentals longer than 2 months, you would not need to
do anything. However, if you rent out shorter periods than 2 months you will

Trip to Gibraltar 3^rd June

The Phoenix Club are off on their next shopping trip to Gibraltar on Friday the 3rd June and we have a few seats available.We have pick ups at at the A1 Garden Centre, Torre del Mar bus station and finally at Algarrobo Lidl at 08.30.  The bus is parked in Morrisons car park and we leave Gibraltar at 16.30.  Due to visa restrictions on entering Gibraltar, please advise if you are a non EU citizen when you book.  Also it is important to remember to bring with you your EHIC card, just in case, and passports are essential.  On the way to Gibraltar we stop to spend a penny and for coffee.

Due to an increase in coach fares we have increased our prices by €1 and we would greatly appreciate if payment was made before the journey.

The price?  €12pp includes a €1 gratuity for the driver.  Children under 12 can join us for 1/2 price.   Still the best value on the coast!
Early booking is recommended if you like a particular place, as seat numbers are allocated on a first come, first served basis.  Plenty to see in Gibraltar apart from the shopping!

David’s query – they had to contact Torre Police – i.e. stand in a long queue and remember to go early.  One point though my friends were driving a Spanish car owned by them not a foreign vehicle.

Thursday 19^th May – Coach Excursion to Gibraltar. Why not join Lux Mundi, Torre del Mar and visit Gibraltar, a chance to take a cable car to the top of the Rock, see the unique Barbary Apes.  Visit the upper Rock Nature Reserve, where you will find the Historic tunnels dating from 1779-1783 and St. Michael´s Cave.  Both of these have guided tours.  In the town can be seen the Gibraltar Museum, Government House and in the Southern area are key historical sites. All information may be obtained from the tourist office, or an excellent alternative way of seeing the sights is by hiring a taxi, whose drivers are very knowledgeable and will explain the interesting, historical life of the Rock.  It is also an opportunity to purchase duty free Items and typical English items of food, etc. from the Morrisons super market. Ticket price 12 Euros available at the Centre.  Proceeds for fund raising.  Departure times Puente don Manuel (Hotel Romero) 6.45am, Algarrobo (Lidl) 7.15am, Caleta (Vets) 7.20am and Torre Del Mar (Bus Station) 7.30am. What’s on- Battle Back (Help for Heroes) fund Raising Event

Bangers and Mash Friday 6^th May starting from 3:00pm onwards

Battle Back is a registered charity, associated with Help For Heroes. Last Year Penny Bentley-Ennis (assisted by Veronica Molyneux ) organised, fund raising to bring out six (wounded in action) soldiers to play Golf.

More funds than were needed were raised and this year Penny and Veronica (assisted by Juan Blanco) and others are raising funds to bring out 12 more.

The starting event is a Bangers and Mash Square Bash, a highly successful event, where you get a delicious helping of Bangers and Mash with all the trimmings, a fashion show for the ladies and entertainment from Dave Parker the renowned Sinatra to Buble tribute singer, for the extraordinary price of 10€.

The meal is hosted at Restaurant Casa Matilde in Benajarafe, a short hop down the coast from Torre Del Mar using the N340 or Exit 265 from the A-7 and follow the MA-3203.

Non Resident’s Form ?

Hello recently on Digamextra somebody posted a story about their Norwegian  friend receiving a fine for driving without a Spanish licence in a non Spanish registered car. Despite actually protesting non resident status.
The writer mentioned  a form he was going to apply for to prove non resident status to traffic police. Does anyone have any information about this form and where you can obtain it from.
I would assume lots of Non residents could find themselves in this position, so any replies would be helpful.

Wonderful news for our little family.

I’m writing to say that my Brother and four Sisters have all

gone to their proper homes and even our beautiful Mummy

has been adopted.

Now it is my turn and my new owners have come for me and reported back

to my rescuer that I’m having a great time discovering my new home

always knew I was into water since I discovered the muddy puddle on the hill.

I read the other day about someone getting biscuit type of mussy stuff being thrown on them , a while ago three of us were in Mijas Pueblo.

We were high up looking out to the coast.

Suddenly I was covered in this biscuit porridge stuff from behind.                    My husband had a small amount on him but mainly me.                                         I freaked out.

Sitting on a seat nearby was a man who started trying to help my husband.               My husband said he was o.k.

I was still freaking out and my sister was trying to clean me up.

There was no one else around.

 Recommendation Best shop for walkers within many, many miles!

A few weeks ago I realised that my walking boots were getting worn down, so I needed a new pair. I had a look at Decahtlon, where I got the old pair years ago. Alas, they no longer had boots with Wibram soles, which I always buy.
The Salamandra shop in Cómpeta had some, YES!!!                                           Actually quite a good shop! Reasonable prices, same as other places (such as Decahtlon) – when I have been able to compare.    Birgit

Recommendations Needed – Community Pool

Does anyone know the most expedient way to tackle this?

We rent an apartment in Torre Del Mar that has a community swimming pool.

I have just been told that it is unlikely to open until the end of June.

Although this is annoying in itself as June can get pretty hot, it is now filled with stagnant water that is starting to attract insect life (we have seen birds skimming the surface).

Is there an official body that might force at least cleaning the thing if we were to contact them?

By the way – we had been told it would probably open ‘sometime in May’ originally! It’s annoying to be paying rent for this eyesore.

Rental Needed –Holiday Accommodation

I have a good friend in the UK who is looking for holiday accommodation for herself,husband and 3 young children during the summer school holidays for 1 or 2 week.
Her husband’s younger brother ( the children’s uncle) has recently been diagnosed with terminal cancer and the family need a lift and cheering up.
They have never been abroad before and whilst I will sort out their flights and hire car still need accommodation.

A lot of the goods sold there can be sent to Spain but you will have to add p&p. Or you could just Google Epson dealers UK and see if any will send overseas.

The Phoenix Club are off on a jolly by train to the famous El Chorro Gorge where there will be time to stop and wonder at the magnificence of nature and man with time to admire the new walk way.  Enjoy a coffee in the cafe La Gargantua and then the coach will pick us up for lunch at the Ardales lakes.  The restaurant overlooks the lakes and has a varied menu including Menu del Dia.  If you don’t fancy lunch, bring a picnic to enjoy on the sandy area around the lakes.

Wanted – Light fitting required… 

Does anyone know where I can buy one or more of these kitchen strip light bulbs please.
I’ve managed to find the smaller one for sale but the one I’m after is about 12/14 inch in length and it’s proving difficult to source.
As can be seen from the photo it has 2 copper type lugs on the top that plug  into the light fitting.

Urgent Appeal by AAR

These 3 small kittens were rescued from the bins in the Valleniza area and now urgently require a Foster home.  They are just a few weeks old and will require bottle feeding until they are able to eat solid food.  They are eating very well from the bottle at the moment and are very comfortable with people.   Please contact us at axarquia-rescue@hotmail.com if you are able to Foster from this weekend as we have to find a new Foster home for them before Monday, May 2nd.

 

Watch out, there’s bird …. about

I have just been bombed by a huge bird near the new breakwater in Torrox Costa and a number of things became apparent.  Unless the bird had trained with the Dambusters and had eaten a lot of biscuits it was a pick-pocket scam.  A bloke offered to take me round the back of the Roman ruins by La Rompiente to wash it off .. alarm bells rang straightaway and I declined!

So people beware of what must be a scam.  The chap, of European origin, had a beard, was thick set, middle aged, wearing beige clothes.  We did not see an accomplice but presume there must have been one, or he himself did the dirty deed.  I had what appeared to be sweet biscuit spattered all down my back and down my trousers, with a nominal amount on my cap. None on the shoulders where you would expect a giant sized seagull to deposit his breakfast!
