Recommendation- Casa El Castaño near Martos, Jaen.

Recently an advertisement was place here on Digame for a short break to Casa El Castaño near Martos, Jaen.
We decided to contact the owners, a lovely couple by the names of Sharon and Chris, for more info and thank our lucky stars we did!
We have just returned from that very said break and want to let everyone know they would be hard pushed to find a better place if you are wanting peace, tranquility and chill out time.  All that said, the hosts are the most perfect and delightful couple and continually strive to make your break relaxing from beginning to end.  The setting of Casa El Castaño in amongst the olive groves is another world from the hum drum way of normal life.
For this reason, this couple deserve a mention and a bouquet for offering services with that extra special touch and going that extra mile and making you feel so special.  We shall most definitely be returning.
We are in no way connected or related to Casa El Castaño or its owners.

My friend and animal lover, Simon Serls, needs our help to immediately find another campo/Competa 2 bdr. finca with a little land at reasonable long-term, monthly rental.

He must be out in two days! His animals always come first.

People who know Simon as a fixture in the Competa Plaza know his devotion to his animals and all animals.

Lady Cruise Companion Needed

I am looking for a lady companion to join our group on an 11 day Mediterranean

Cruise –  starting from Barcelona to Rome from May 6th to 17th 2017.

Little Abandoned Dog

I found this dear little girl on Saturday, abandoned and trembling in a doorway in Canillas de Aceituno.

This was very shortly before a massive bike race was due to start in the village.

I have taken her to the vet today and she has been treated for fleas, ticks and worms. Now those have been dealt with she is in good health although painfully skinny.

She is approximately two and a half months old and a podenco mix.

She is likely to remain a small dog – she weighs less than 4 kilos at present.

AAR will take her on their books if a foster owner can be found.

They would pick up all expenses. It would be even better if someone can offer a forever home.

Service needed– Car Bodywork

My car has just failed its ITV, partly because of a damaged rear bumper (can’t attach a photo, the laptop is currently ‘updating’)!

The main dealer has quoted me just under €1,000 to replace it, but I’m sure it could be repaired using some temporary combination of welding, soldering and rivets – although it is close to the fuel tank.

Does anyone know of a body shop which could do a cheaper repair?
The main dealers also fitted a new front headlight, and the car has also failed because it wasn’t focused.

You can guess I’m not pleased with them, but if you want to know who it was in Vélez-Málaga, you’ll have to email me.

Recommendations- Wills

If anyone is thinking of making a Will we can highly recommend the Notary by the Repsol garage at El Morche.

They ask you to complete a very simple form which we did at home (took no more than 5 minutes so we could have easily done them there and then to save a journey).

We returned the forms yesterday and were given an appointment for 10 o’clock this morning to go back and sign the official documents.

The Notary speaks excellent English.

Total cost for 2 Wills just over 78 Euros!

Help with airport runs for Dog Refuge

Tail Torrox Dog Refuge is looking to recruit a pool of volunteers to help with taking dogs to the airport. You can be a driver or non driver and we provide the transport. Each airport trip requires two people, one to take the dog and the other to push the crate on the trolley. You generally need to spend about 30 minutes at the airport. Sometimes the times can be anti social ie early.

Advice re Buying Secondhand Cars in Spain

I am hoping readers will be able to provide some advice on the requirements

and considerations when buying a second hand car in Spain.

I’ve heard anecdotes about needing to check it doesn’t have any fines

against it and that there is a transfer fee or re-registration fee.

Keen to make sure what we are letting ourselves in for and what we

I had 8 (!) people email me today without this information. Unbelievable!

Faulty Submissions.

If I have time, I can email you to ask for corrections, extra info. etc. etc.

Nerja 41 member stars in ‘Flog it’ TV programme pics

One of Nerja 41 Club’s members (Ex Round Tablers) Robert Drysdale along with his wife Rosemary have managed to appear on the ‘Flog It’ program and have supplied the following article.

The TV programme ‘FLOG IT’ came to Herstmonceux Castle East Sussex and we went along with a gold Hunter Pocket watch. We arrived at the Castle at 7.30am for the doors opening at 9.00 and were already about 60th in the queue. When let in we were marshalled into an area of about 6 valuers who were looking at every item.  Our valuer was impressed by the watch and after checking with James Lewis confirmed that James would like to film it. It was about 11.00 and we were taken to a holding room where we were given tea/coffee and sandwiches. That day they were filming 4 episodes and there were about 30 people in the room. We were called at about 2.30 and did the filming with James. During the filming an estimate of £800 to £900 was agreed on the watch.   We were surrounded by cameras with a Director and the whole shoot took about 45 minutes. A bit like Hollywood !!!  Obviously there was a lot of subsequent editing. We finally left the Castle at about 4.00pm.

The Auction at Rye was three weeks later which gave them time to catalogue and advertise the items on the internet. The result was exciting as the watch fetched £1,400.  Not quite a ‘Fools and Horses’ moment. But as Del said “we’ve had worst days”.

James Lewis and Paul Martin were good and courteous company. We also met and chatted to Jonathon Pratt and Catherine Southon. The whole thing was a great experience.

The interpreter I recommend and use is Pamela.

I have been with her, on and off, for four years.

all the major hospitals and clinics.

She charges a flat fee, so your not presented with a huge bill

at the end of a long wait out side the doctors surgery

Recommendation- Steven Rowles Animal Healing and Behavioural Therapy

I can’t recommend Steve Rowles enough for animal healing. He has been giving healing to one of my horses for a number of weeks, initially for a skin condition which is showing good progress, but the biggest difference I have noticed is in the inner horse. He is so much brighter in the eye, more willing and generally a much happier horse all round. Our hoof trimmer has also noticed the change in him and can trim his hooves in half the time it used to take as he was often difficult and wouldn’t give his feet willingly. Steve is patient and gentle, and the horses very much enjoy his presence and their healing sessions. It has already made a big difference to this horse’s health. (Midi, Periana area)

Would you like to be a guinea pig?

We are trying to form a group that will meet one hour a week only to use the Spanish language.

Are you a pure beginner, fine. You don’t have to say anything, just listen.

Do you know a little but need more, fine, you join the same group

Are you experienced but don’t get so many chances to use Spanish, fine, join us and speak.

The group will have a professional leader.

Number of participants a single meeting will be 4-10. More than 10 interested? We’ll just form a new group.

You don’t have to come every meeting, but since the restriction of participants, you must advice before you come.

If there is more than one group, you can attend any meeting in all groups there is.

We will develop this concept as we go on.
