Cat Found – Help Please
We found a cat (we call him Leo) in the street over a week ago and we have had him in our flat since then. We took him to the Protectora in Málaga the same day but they are not accepting more animals! We had him at the vet and he has no chip and is not neutered yet. He was treated for internal and external parasites and had a blood test for feline lukemia and something else which were negative. He is a good natured cat (he let us wash him in the bath with no problem) and is very affectionate. He is quite social and likes to be with us. Unfortunately we already have 1 cat which has been quite vicious to him as we messed up the introduction (all this being new to us) As my partner and I are both unemployed we can’t afford to keep 2 cats in our small flat. We also think there may be further health issues as he has had diarrhea since we found him. We are following advice from the vet regarding this but can’t afford to do much more. We are getting a bit desperate about the situation as we will be away next Thursday for a number of days and while we have arrangements for our cat, we think ‘Leo’ needs more attention.

What’s on – Competa Worship Group
This year the Competa Worship Group is offering ‘How Then Shall We Live?’, an ecumenical 5 session Lent course open to everyone who would like to join us. Lent points to the coming of spring and invites us to slow down our lives so as to be able to take stock of ourselves. In this rapidly changing world often people find that time for spiritual reflection is squeezed out. Lent is a time when we can ‘breathe in’ – reflect on our lifestyle and draw spiritual nourishment from some key sacred resources.
The aim of the course is to explore and grapple with the Beatitudes – or beautiful attitudes – described by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. These eight radical sayings from Matthew’s Gospel contain both values for living and promises of blessing. They touch the whole of life. They speak to our relationships with those who are closest to us and also address the culture, values and society in which we live.
The group will be held in people’s homes near to Competa and will run weekly, starting on Tuesday 20th February at 10.30 and may be repeated on Thursday 22nd at 3.30, depending on numbers.

The house is surrounded by beautiful well maintained gardens which has an assortment of fruit trees and flowers, totally enclosed within fenced-off area. We have a swimming pool surrounded by a lawn.
The property provides a large kitchen with dining facilities for 6 people, a master bedroom with en-suite bathroom and closet area, a large lounge and another dining area, a large hall with 2 double bedroom, a third single bedroom, the fourth bedroom contains bunk-beds for 2 children. Another very large bathroom contains laundry facilities and linen storage. The rear aspect of the house overlooks the mountains, while the front aspect shows fruit trees, rose garden, wisteria and other well established plants. The two pergolas in the garden provide shade during the hottest part of the day.
Rental including use of the pool is £1500 per month. (The extra £300 is for a pool maintenance service.). If the pool is not required, rent will be £1200 per month.

By practising Mala-meditations she translates energies into her Mandalas. She also works on commission base, she ‘tunes in’ to the energy of the room or the person, inspired by this input she creates a very personal‘Mandela-painting’. Dutch artist Linda Roffel has been fascinated by colour and shape as a means of expression for a long time. She uses that fascination to create sensual portraits of the backs of women. Using Acrylic paint and only a palette knife – she usually works with four pigments at a time: grey, white, brown, yellow and sometimes red. With these deceptively simple ingredients she creates structure, depth and transparency in her images. Three of her works will be shown in the gallery.Italian artist Daniele Vignati was born in Milano in Italy. Daniele creates abstract, colorful and bright images. “The artist gives shape to images which come from a reality unknown. The artist has the ability to make the invisible, visible.” Daniele exhibits her art in Italy and various other European countries. It is the first time she is exhibiting her paintings in Galeria Luz de la Vida. The art of Lieuwke Loth is on permanent show, as well as other paintings from various International Artists. Trip to Gibraltar 2nd March 2018 – The Phoenix Club are off on their next shopping trip to Gibraltar on Friday 2nd March. We have pick ups at at the A1 Garden Centre, Torre del Mar bus station and finally at Algarrobo Lidl at 08.30. The bus is parked in Morrisons car park and we leave Gibraltar at 16.30. Due to visa restrictions on entering Gibraltar, please advise if you are a non EU citizen when you book. Also it is important to remember to bring with you your EHIC card, just in case, and passports are essential. On the way to Gibraltar we stop to spend a penny and for coffee. We would greatly appreciate if payment was made before the journey.
The price? €12pp includes a €1 gratuity for the driver.

Trip to IKEA and the Guzman Garden Centre – 16th March 2018
The Phoenix Club is off for another dose of retail therapy, this time to IKEA in Malaga in the morning and then in the afternoon, on to one of the best Garden Centres in the area, Guzmans in Alhaurin. They have a fantastic selection of named varities of all sorts of plants and trees.

Trip to the Bioparc in Fuengirola
The vist by the Phoenix Club is on the 23rd of March
Bioparc Fuengirola champions a new model of zoo based on respect for nature and the preservation of natural species, a model which has already established itself as a flagship for Europe. It represents is a different concept of zoo. A zoological park where animals live side-by-side, recreating their natural habitat and so fostering their development at all levels. Visitors are stepping inside a true documentary of the deepest tropical woodlands.
The habitats of Africa, Asia and Madagascar are recreated by the themed design of embankments, waterfalls, rocks, trunks and even realistic trees. The creation of the baobab tree, one of the largest artificial trees in the world, standing 25 metres high, set the park’s designers a real challenge. It has now become a landmark of the centre and of the town of Fuengirola itself.
Bioparc is home to such emblematic species as the Sumatra Tiger, featured on the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) Red List of Threatened Species, in the highest category of “Critically Endangered”. Only 250 specimens remain in the wild in their natural habitat, and the Bioparc has succeeded in breeding the species.
The centre also has exclusive species of such great biological importance as the Malayan False Gavial, bred here successfully for the first time in captivity, and the Blue Duiker, to be found nowhere else in Spain, along with the only group of breeding gorillas in Andalusia.
The centre has in a very short period established itself at the forefront of European zoos, and has as such won widespread recognition both in Spain and beyond.
It recently received an award acknowledging the marvellous reproduction of the enclosure known as “The Mangrove”, which includes a remarkable underwater view of this peculiar ecosystem, home to fish, birds and turtles in grave peril of extinction.
We will also visit Benalmadena Marina where you can have a late lunch. This is not included in the price.

The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art is a famed riding school with horse shows and a carriage museum. The city is also known for flamenco music and sherry production in the so-called Sherry Triangle lying to the west.

Services Wanted –Car Repairs….      I recently asked if anyone knew where I could get the roof hydraulics on my soft top Astra fixed.  Thank you to those who replied.  There was nowhere near me and the only specialist was the other side of Benalmadena so on the off chance I tried a local garage near Sayalonga.  They sent for the part to Germany and repaired it in a week.  They collected and delivered it to the house and have since replaced the cam belt, fixed the oil leak and a problem with the suspension and taken it for its ITV.     If you want more details please tel: Helen 952 557 863

                                                                                      We’ve already had our first case processionary larva.  Pedro, a Mastine  of a little over a year showed too much curiosity and licked the dreaded larvae. His owner brought us almost immediately because he saw that Peter had very swollen tongue and was salivating excessively. We administered serum since it was not able to drink water . We administered a potent anti- inflammatory and a dose of buprenorphine for pain. Also washed the tongue with water mixed with vinegar, simply with a syringe without touching the tongue. With increasing practise your power, confidence & well-being will grow slowly. I always work in little groups and i will adapt the Yoga posture to every single student. I mix Ayur Yoga, therapeutic Yoga, Yin Yoga & Vinyasa Flow Yoga – the basic you will find in Hatha Yoga. The Yin Yoga class on Wednesday night in Torrox are women & men all ages. Yin Yoga is a passive Yoga, very easy & kind and with lots of adaption.
