DoctorLaptop’s famous Annual Clean & TuneUp Service €60: For Windows & Mac. New “fileless” malware formats evade standard anti-virus programs, making it difficult for typical users to “dis-infect” computers themselves with free, consumer level tools.  If you rely on your computer and want it running at peak performance an annual professional servicing with advanced professional grade tools is necessary. You wouldn’t drive your car till it runs out of oil before servicing it, would you? If you did, the engine replacement will cost far more than if you had properly maintained it with an oil change once or twice a year. It’s the same with computers, you should do a quick cleanup yourself once a month, and get an annual professional service. I do the most comprehensive cleaning and tune-up possible: verify all System files and permissions, replacing any found to be corrupt, test all hardware and do hard disk sector repairs if needed, use a 5 tool malware/adware/spyware removal protocol, clean out junk files/logs/history/etc., update Windows/Mac+all drivers+programs and finally optimize your settings and registry for fastest overall performance. Job usually completed overnight. Heavily infected comps or those showing error messages need a repair, not a maintenance service. Hard disks of 1000Gb or more add €10 and may require 2 days to complete.
ALSO: Computer repairs, websites/blogs/forums/SEO, business computer maintenance & security service. Free shopping service, send me your requirements, I’ll find you the best deals!
Windows, Apple/Mac, Linux and Android all serviced.
Contact: doctorlaptop AT protonmail DOT com or call 675 993 069 (no calls answered before 11am, missed calls returned asap). Please do not use the DigameXtra email for DoctorLaptop business. Always include the make, model, and version of Windows/Mac installed when emailing for support.

UN and Malaga university sign agreement in bid protect local grape: Experts fear that climate change and a move towards growing subtropical fruit is endangering the future of the Axarquía grape which is traditionally dried to become muscatel raisins and used to produce local wine. Spanish employers must carry out salary audits to avoid the gender gap: All companies, regardless of the size of their workforces, must have salary records by category and sex that include salaries and supplements, but also any extra-salary perception. If in any case the difference between one sex and another is 25% or more, companies must justify in writing why the gap is due. In any case, a minor difference does not mean that there is no discrimination, it only avoids the obligation of a formal justification.
The workers’ representatives must have access to all the information, which must include salary averages but also medians. The medians measure the differences more effectively when they are more bulky and, therefore, become more complete references in the event that there is a gap. In the event that there is no union representation in that company, any person may have access to the information, although in a more basic way: they will not be able to consult all the salary values, but the employer must provide the difference percentages.
Companies with more than 50 workers will be required, in addition to registration, to do a salary audit that evaluates and values each job. The regulation specifies the criteria that these audits must meet, which must also include action plans to combat differences.

Scientists solve mystery of the origin of Stonehenge megaliths: (Reuters) – Scientists have solved an enduring mystery about Stonehenge, determining the place of origin of many of the megaliths that make up the famed monument in Wiltshire, England, thanks to a core sample that had been kept in the United States for decades.
Geochemical testing indicates that 50 of Stonehenge’s 52 pale-gray sandstone megaliths, known as sarsens, share a common origin about 15 miles (25 km) away at a site called West Woods on the edge of Wiltshire’s Marlborough Downs, researchers said on Wednesday.
The sarsens were erected at Stonehenge around 2500 BC. The largest stands 30 feet (9.1 meters) tall. The heaviest weighs about 30 tons.
“The sarsen stones make up the iconic outer circle and central trilithon (two vertical stones supporting a horizontal stone) horseshoe at Stonehenge. They are enormous,” said University of Brighton geomorphologist David Nash, who led the study published in the journal Science Advances.
Stonehenge’s smaller bluestones previously were traced to Pembrokeshire in Wales 150 miles (250 km) away, but the origin of the sarsens had defied identification. Amazon UK may spell trouble for brick & mortar supermarkets by providing free grocery delivery: Amazon Fresh offers same or next-day grocery deliveries for customers in London and parts of the Home Counties. Shoppers have to subscribe to Amazon Prime to get it and users currently have to pay an additional monthly fee or a delivery charge per order. It has about 10,000 products including fresh, chilled and frozen food.
From Tuesday, this service will now be a free benefit to subscribers in these areas on orders above £40.
About 40 postcodes in Surrey will also have access to a faster offer, with a possible same-day delivery before midnight if you order by 21:00.
Amazon says it will roll out this quicker and unlimited free delivery grocery service to “multiple cities” by the end of this year. Full story: https://www.bbc.com/news/business-53559116

Zimbabwe signs billion-dollar deal to repay white farmers: Zimbabwe’s government on Wednesday signed a deal with former white farmers to pay them billions of dollars in compensation roughly two decades after they lost their land in often violent invasions. But because the government does not readily have the money, the farmers will be part of a team tasked with raising the cash.
The government will borrow on international markets and the farmers will be part of a “joint resource mobilization committee” tasked with raising the money, according to the agreement.
Mnangagwa, who took power in 2017 after Mugabe was forced to resign, has encouraged former white farmers to apply for pieces of land. Full story: https://apnews.com/cca5777366726c485510f4efc48bd367

Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga is now fully open!
We have started to receive clients but by appointment only. It is wonderful to finally be able to have visitors! We are of course following the legal guidelines regarding masks and social distancing.
The summer is a great time to plant Vetiver as this plant is indigenous to India. Vetiver loves the heat of summer to grow. Vetiver is often used as a wind barrier in the fall and winter months. Vetiver is the best plant to stabilise erosion prone locations before the first fall rains come. We have plenty of plants in stock for either pickup or delivery via the Spanish Correos.
It is always a great way to spend a day in the garden.
We also have Moringa seeds, Lemon Grass, Moringa seedlings and now our new product, Organic Moringa Powder. If you do not know the medicinal powers of Moringa you can check it out here. https://www.vetiverspain.org/moringa-oleifera-.html

UK advises against non-essential travel to Spain, including the islands:
Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez has called Britain’s quarantine requirement “not well adjusted” to the epidemiological situation in the country. The decision to extend the recommendation against non-essential travel to all of the country, including the Balearic and Canary islands, is expected to lead to thousands of more holiday cancellations to Spain and devastate Spain’s already ailing tourism industry. If you think WhatsApp is private and secure, think again: Here is well known industry insider and cyber security expert Nick Espinosa reporting on what is being discussed at recent tech conferences regarding WhatsApp. Facebook has plans to scan everything you put on WhatsApp (and are probably already doing so)…in order to protect you! Nick is a nationally recognized speaker, member of the Forbes Technology Council, TEDx Speaker and award winning co-author of a bestselling book “Easy Prey” among many other credentials. For better security have a look at Signal, or for business use look at Wickr
WhatsApp Fun Facts:
-Your Chats Are At Risk. Although WhatsApp says that their messages are “end to end encrypted” that only applies to the message while it is momentarily in transit. Since WhatsApp messages are saved forever in the WhatsApp/Fakebook servers un-encrypted, they’re vulnerable. Rogue Facebook and WhatsApp employees who need a financial bonus have access to your data and sell it to unscrupulous buyers of which there is no shortage. Even Police, tax collectors and insurance companies have been known to buy this info to spy on individuals and businesses. Scammers also you this info, for example, when pretending to be your bank, to provide you private details to convince you to trust them.
-Deleted Messages Can Be Easily Read. When you delete a message, WhatsApp doesn’t remove it, instead WhatsApp hides the message and covers it with a label that says “? This message was deleted.” The message stays on the recipient’s device and a simple tool named WAMR (WhatsApp Message Recovery) can be used to read that deleted message with ease. Think the ‘Clear All Chat’ option will save you? It will not. All deleted messages are also backed up to the cloud, where it stays forever, accessable by WhatsApp and Facebook employees and their 3rd party contractors.
-Your Meta Data Is Shared. WhatsApp shares it’s users’ metadata with Fakebook and other companies. Information such as the person with whom you chat, how often you chat and which group chats you are a member of is all saved forever and shared. Metadata is also kept on your device unencrypted, visable by hackers. This data gives hugely valuable information about your network of acquaintances and the patterns of your life.

Domestic Cleaner: Last year I saw an advertisement by a lady who stated she cleaned domestically at several houses a week for several hours. This lady had an opening as one of her clients had now finished. I wondered if anyone is aware of the advertisement and the person who placed the advertisement.
Please contact Kevin WhatsApp 634328089.

Postal scam: My son sent me a parcel from the U.K., I then received an email saying that Spanish post office (correos.es) had a parcel but the address was incorrect and I should pay €1.10 and change the address. This email is very plausible, but when I examined the email address it had come from Jamaica !! Please don’t fall foul of this scam.

Cheap virus-killing spray that costs pennies could end coronavirus nightmare: Until such times as a vaccine is found to the coronavirus, there are protocols in place to try to slow the spread.  One solution which has been pretty much ignored is HOCI, (Hypochlorous Acid), which has been used to great effect already in South Korea for front line workers. Using a ‘fogger’ tunnel at the entrance or exit of any buildings, or shops, or even tunnels in the streets, (no bigger than a bus shelter), could disinfect literally hundreds of thousands of people every day, by simply walking through the fine mist. Eight-year-old Empties Grandparents’ Bank Account after Blowing Three Grand on an Online Computer Game!: A Scottish couple were shocked to discover the amount was missing when they checked their online balance shortly after signing their eight-year-old granddaughter up to gaming platform Roblox. The pensioners have now been left with a £3,000 bill, innocently racked up by their young grandchild after playing the online computer game. It is understood that they signed their granddaughter up to the gaming platform just to keep her occupied through the lockdown.
Roblox has about 100 million users worldwide and is very popular with children. Roblox is free to download but young users are encouraged to buy virtual money – called Robux – to spend during play. If payment settings aren’t configured correctly when the account is set up, it is easy to purchase Roblox money without limit. Brexit Hotline

The Spanish government has a hotline to answer all queries from Brits living in Spain about the implications of Brexit, in English. Callers can ring 060 when in Spain or +34 902 887060 if calling from abroad and an automated system will offer the choice of either Spanish or English.
You will then be offered a choice of information on the different issues.
The service also offers the option of speaking to an operator for those requiring further information or with a specific query not dealt with by the automated options. Source: https://www.thelocal.es/20200218/spain-launches-dedicated-brexit-hotline

EU to make face masks compulsory on all European flights for passengers aged 6 and over: Children 6 and over and all adults will have to wear face masks on all European flights after EU transport ministers agreed new security measures to battle the spread of coronavirus.
The EU Transport Ministers reached agreement on various health measures to be imposed on board aircraft flying over the continent, as well as at airports. Masks are also compulsory in many airports including in France, which made the coverings obligatory in all public indoor spaces for anyone aged over 11.
Airlines issue strict rules on wearing masks and warn passengers they will be refused entry to planes if they do not comply. To ensure full safety whilst wearing a mask, airline easyJet says masks should be replaced every four hours. Spain Welcomes Big Brother- approves facial recognition cameras at big events: Spain’s Interior Ministry has approved the use of facial recognition cameras in stadiums, concert venues and other large sporting and cultural events to locate people who have criminal charges filed against them.
The aim is to provide Civil Guard officers with information on people “with outstanding criminal charges against them” so that they can be arrested when leaving the premises. The facial recognition software would cross-reference the imagery with police records to alert Spanish police forces while the event is taking place.
The announcement comes just weeks after Mercadona – Spain’s most popular supermarket chain- said it had also installed facial recognition systems in 40 of its stores.
Facial recognition systems are largely controversial given their infringements on privacy and their use by states such as China with a poor human rights record. In China’s case, it’s used to score the population for “social credit” in a dystopian manner. Full story: https://www.thelocal.es/20200724/spain-approves-facial-recognition-cameras-at-big-events

Drone User Alert- Researchers Reveal New Security Flaw Affecting China’s DJI Drones: Andriod app ” DJI’s Go 4″ asks for extensive permissions and collects personal data. Given the wide permissions required by DJI GO 4 — contacts, microphone, camera, location, storage, change network connectivity — the DJI or Weibo Chinese servers have almost full control over the user’s phone.
The Android app has over one million installs via the Google Play Store. But the security vulnerabilities identified in the app don’t apply to its iOS version, which is not obfuscated, nor does it have the hidden update feature. Spain records highest daily rise in coronavirus cases since May 8:
Spain has recorded its highest daily rise in new coronavirus cases since the beginning of the deescalation process, with 971 infections detected in 24 hours on Thursday, compared to Wednesday’s figure of 730. According to the latest figures from the Spanish Health Ministry, which now only offers disaggregated data from Monday to Friday, the daily rise of 241 new cases is the largest increase recorded since May 8, when the government began to roll back its coronavirus lockdown rules.
Replying to media questions at a government press conference on Thursday, María José Sierra, from the Health Ministry’s Coordination Center for Health Alerts, said: “This may already be a second wave.” (Contradicted in the following article. -Ed.)
Norway will impose a quarantine on travelers and France has asked its citizens not to go to Catalonia. Full story: https://english.elpais.com/society/2020-07-24/spain-records-highest-daily-rise-in-coronavirus-cases-since-may-8.html

Spanish foreign Minister says- ‘We are not facing a second wave,’ : With more than 28,000 people having died of Covid-19 in Spain and the number of cases being tested positive rising there is concern that there could be a second wave arriving. “However since there are many more tests being administered it is only natural that there will be more people found with the virus, and it does not mean that there is actually a rise, it just means we are finding more positive results through more testing” said Arancha Gonzalez Laya, The Spanish Foreign Minister. GARMIN ALERT!- Smartwatch Maker Garmin Shuts Down Services After Ransomware Attack: Garmin, the maker of fitness trackers, smartwatches and GPS-based wearable devices, is currently dealing with a massive worldwide service interruption after getting hit by a targeted ransomware attack, an employee of the company told The Hacker News on condition of anonymity.
The company’s website and the Twitter account say, “We are currently experiencing an outage that affects Garmin.com and Garmin Connect.”
“This outage also affects our call centers, and we are currently unable to receive any calls, emails or online chats. We are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible and apologize for this inconvenience.”
As a result, the company yesterday was forced to temporarily shut down some of its connected services, including Garmin Express, Garmin Connect mobile, and the website—restricting millions of its users from accessing the cloud services or even syncing their watches locally to the app. Full story: https://thehackernews.com/2020/07/garmin-ransomware-attack.html

Companies Start to Think Remote Work Isn’t So Great After All:
Projects take longer. Collaboration is harder. And training new workers is a struggle. ‘This is not going to be sustainable.’
Now, as the work-from-home experiment stretches on, some cracks are starting to emerge. Projects take longer. Training is tougher. Hiring and integrating new employees, more complicated. Some employers say their workers appear less connected and bosses fear that younger professionals aren’t developing at the same rate as they would in offices, sitting next to colleagues and absorbing how they do their jobs.
Months into a pandemic that rapidly reshaped how companies operate, an increasing number of executives now say that remote work, while necessary for safety much of this year, is not their preferred long-term solution once the coronavirus crisis passes.
“There’s sort of an emerging sense behind the scenes of executives saying, ‘This is not going to be sustainable,’” said Laszlo Bock, chief executive of human-resources startup Humu and the former HR chief at Google. No CEO should be surprised that the early productivity gains companies witnessed as remote work took hold have peaked and leveled off, he adds, because workers left offices in March armed with laptops and a sense of doom. “It was people being terrified of losing their jobs, and that fear-driven productivity is not sustainable,” Mr. Bock said. Hundreds Tested on the Costa del Sol as Bus Trip Hikers Fall Sick!: The Costa del Sol is on alert for a potentially serious new outbreak of the coronavirus as some members of a group of hikers who had been to Huelva became sick.
A group of 16 hikers had been on a trip to Huelva, which is popular to hikers with its many cycling trails. On their return, it is reported that four of them fell ill and were taken to hospital where tests proved they had contracted COVID-19.
Emergency health services immediately contacted their counterparts in Huelva who tried to trace who the group had come in contact with- it turns to be around 400 people!

‘More cancellations than bookings’: Spanish hotels consider closing in August: Spain may be open to international tourism but its recent surge in Covid-19 infections and outbreaks, coupled with obligatory face mask rules across most of the country, are putting tourists off from enjoying their time in the sun. Sensible and chic- the $185 luxury face mask from Belgium: As mask-wearing becomes part of everyday defences against the coronavirus, Belgian designers are turning medical masks into chic accessories.

“These are not masks for everyday wear, perhaps for a party or a wedding … the idea is to bring some joy to something that is very sad,” she said of the pandemic. Fifteen years working in the hospital as a volunteer, and the last ten years with my own clients, gives me all the experience needed to help you when you are talking to your doctor or specialist.
I charge a flat, reasonable fee. I don’t charge by the hour.

Please be careful about believing crisis info posts on Fakebook, Social Media and even mainline news sources: There are tons of hoaxes circulating. Pet Travel between EU and UK: Pet owners warned about four-month waiting period. At present the EU Pet Passport scheme allows for fairly frictionless travel for four-legged companions but that will no longer apply to the UK once the transition period ends.
From January, the UK needs to become a listed country in order to keep restrictions on pet travel light. But with just five months to go this has not been agreed, and the UK still needs to thrash out a raft of other agreements with the EU, as well as the small matter of a trade deal.
The UK government’s Brexit web page is therefore now telling pet owners: “To make sure your pet is able to travel from the UK to the EU from 1 January 2021, you should contact your vet at least 4 months before travelling to get the latest advice.” Source: https://www.thelocal.es/20200715/pet-owners-told-to-allow-four-months-preparation-time-for-travel-between-eu-and-uk-from-january

Costa del Sol’s nightlife finds itself under serious threat: The Junta of Andalucia will be considering what move to take next to limit the spread of the virus. This could potentially mean all nightclubs and late-night cocktail bars closing at 10:00 p.m. as has been done in Gandia, Costa Blanca, if not a complete closure. Researchers say blood test can detect cancer years before symptoms: A team led by researchers in China say the non-invasive blood test – called PanSeer – detects cancer in 95% of individuals who have no symptoms but later receive a diagnosis. “We demonstrated that five types of cancer can be detected through a DNA methylation-based blood test up to four years before conventional diagnosis,” the team wrote in the journal Nature Communications.
They said the test was unlikely to be predicting cancer but rather picking up on cancerous growths that had not yet caused symptoms or been spotted by other methods. Full story: https://www.theguardian.com/science/2020/jul/21/researchers-unveil-test-that-can-detect-cancer-years-before-symptoms

New Android Malware Now Steals Passwords For Non-Banking Apps Also: Chief among its features are stealing user credentials, intercepting SMS messages, hijacking notifications, and even recording keystrokes from the targeted apps, in addition to being capable of hiding from antivirus software.
“The target list of non-financial apps contains famous applications such as but not limited to Tinder, TikTok, PlayStation, Facebook, Instagram, Skype, Snapchat, Twitter, Grinder, VK, Netflix, Uber, eBay, Amazon, Reddit and Tumblr,” the researchers told The Hacker News.
There is no user fix, it is up to the banking groups to ensure the integrity of the apps they provide. Full story: https://thehackernews.com/2020/07/android-password-hacker.html

Golden Leaves Funeral Plans:
Pre-planning your funeral is a thoughtful and responsible way to show you care about your family.
Funerals are no easy task. There are numerous considerations to factor in, including logistics, food and drink, casket purchase and burial grounds. A loved one’s death brings immense emotional strain to any family, and the question of financing and arrangements only exacerbates the stress.
Handling all of these challenges is difficult enough in one’s normal circumstances, but having to go through it while abroad is an enormous burden.
Golden Leaves Funeral Plans aims to support grieving families during these tumultuous times. Since our inception in 1984, we have partnered with a widespread network of funeral directors across the UK and Europe.
Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.
As one of the leading providers of expat prepaid funeral plans in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands, we make sure to adequately support your family in the time of greatest need.
If you are an expat family in need of prepaid funeral services please contact Ruth on phone or whats app + 34 693 715 718

This month we have some specials for both pickup and shipments.
