How to post more photos than the rules allow – use collages. You can combine several of your photos into a single collage photo by using this free (you need to provide email) online collage creation tool. It’s very easy to use, give it a try! https://www.fotor.com/create/collage/   Free OnLine Photo Collage Maker Update: The Fotor.com website has been buggy lately. For an alternative, that did not even ask for my email to use it, try https://www.photocollage.com/
This may even be the better option now. -Ed.

CORONA VIRUS HOTLINE: Information hotline for those who suspect they may have the coronavirus. Anyone experiencing symptoms should stay at home and dial 900 400 061 or 955 545 060 – and only call 112 in an emergency.

When you need reliable info consult The Citizens Advice Bureau Spain at https://www.citizensadvice.org.es/…or the website or Facebook page of your local Town Hall (Ayuntamiento). I suggest you check it daily.

Correcting flawed submissions: If you send an incorrect submission, or you forget to include the photos, please send in a new, full corrected submission and ask me to ignore the previous, incorrect submission. I am too busy to keep track of partial submissions in different emails and patch them together. Your cooperation is appreciated.  -Editor

Pre-planning your funeral is a thoughtful and responsible way to show you care about your family.
Funerals are no easy task. There are numerous considerations to factor in, including logistics, food and drink, casket purchase and burial grounds. A loved one’s death brings immense emotional strain to any family, and the question of financing and arrangements only exacerbates the stress.
Handling all of these challenges is difficult enough in one’s normal circumstances, but having to go through it while abroad is an enormous burden.
Golden Leaves Funeral Plans aims to support grieving families during these tumultuous times. Since our inception in 1984, we have partnered with a widespread network of funeral directors across the UK and Europe.
Purchasing a funeral plan with Golden Leaves enables you to plan, design and pay for your funeral services in advance.
As one of the leading providers of expat prepaid funeral plans in Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, Balearic Islands, and the Canary Islands, we make sure to adequately support your family in the time of greatest need.

Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga is now fully open!
We have started to receive clients but by appointment only. It is wonderful to finally be able to have visitors! We are of course following the legal guidelines regarding masks and social distancing.
The summer is a great time to plant Vetiver as this plant is indigenous to India. Vetiver loves the heat of summer to grow. Vetiver is often used as a wind barrier in the fall and winter months. Vetiver is the best plant to stabilise erosion prone locations before the first fall rains come. We have plenty of plants in stock for either pickup or delivery via the Spanish Correos.
It is always a great way to spend a day in the garden.
We also have Moringa seeds, Lemon Grass, Moringa seedlings and now our new product, Organic Moringa Powder. If you do not know the medicinal powers of Moringa you can check it out here. https://www.vetiverspain.org/moringa-oleifera-.html
This month we have some specials for both pickup and shipments.

Please be careful about believing crisis info posts on Fakebook, Social Media and even mainline news sources: There are tons of hoaxes circulating. If there is no verifiable source provided with the info, while it may contain some degree of truth (as do all good lies) you should always have a healthy degree of scepticism. -Ed.

Social media sites include Facebook and Whatsapp go down for hours: A message shown to users trying to access Facebook read: “Facebook is down for required maintenance right now, but you should be able to get back on within a few minute.” Downdetector.co.uk reported over 7700 complaints that Facebook was down in the UK with the outage beginning at about 10am this morning and lasting four hours. Social media users also flooded Twitter with posts to complain that they could not access the other social websites.

Spain reports over one million job losses during coronavirus crisis: A quarterly fall of this scale was not even recorded during the worst months of the 2008 global recession. The entire second quarter reflected the impact of the coronavirus crisis, unlike the first quarter, which included the first two weeks of March before the declaration of the state of alarm. According to the EPA, a total of 3.37 million people are unemployed in Spain, the unemployment rate is 15.3%, and the workforce has fallen to 18.6 million. UK advises against non-essential travel to Spain, including the islands:
Spanish PM Pedro Sánchez has called Britain’s quarantine requirement “not well adjusted” to the epidemiological situation in the country. The decision to extend the recommendation against non-essential travel to all of the country, including the Balearic and Canary islands, is expected to lead to thousands of more holiday cancellations to Spain and devastate Spain’s already ailing tourism industry. Andalucia Reduces Restaurant Capacity to 60 Per Cent to Try to Combat Covid-19 Spike: The most wide-reaching decision will see the capacity of restaurants cut from 75 to 60 per cent and table sizes reduced from 25 to 12 whilst nightclubs will need to keep a register of guests details so that they may be contacted in the event of an outbreak of coronavirus.
Once again, the ordering of drinks at bars has been banned and drinks will have to be ordered at a pre-assigned table. Full story: https://www.euroweeklynews.com/2020/07/28/andalucia-reduces-restaurant-capacity-to-60-per-cent-to-try-to-combat-covid-19-spike/

Costa del Sol’s Police Tighten Controls and Checkpoints to Stop Cars:
Police presence on the Costa del Sol is booming as the streets of Fuengirola are reportedly flooded with patrol cars and check-points. Now the Costa del Sol’s police tighten controls and checkpoints to make sure all citizens are wearing a mask, and if they are not, to see if they are in the same family.
Please make sure that you all wear a mask when you are travelling with one, or more, passengers in your car, who do not all officially live at the same address. According to news sources, the police have been seen in various parts of the Costa del Sol conducting checkpoints to strictly ensure that this rule is being enforced. If you think WhatsApp is private and secure, think again: Here is well known industry insider and cyber security expert Nick Espinosa reporting on what is being discussed at recent tech conferences regarding WhatsApp. Facebook has plans to scan everything you put on WhatsApp (and are probably already doing so)…in order to protect you! Nick is a nationally recognized speaker, member of the Forbes Technology Council, TEDx Speaker and award winning co-author of a bestselling book “Easy Prey” among many other credentials. For better security have a look at Signal, or for business use look at Wickr
WhatsApp Fun Facts:
-Your Chats Are At Risk. Although WhatsApp says that their messages are “end to end encrypted” that only applies to the message while it is momentarily in transit. Since WhatsApp messages are saved forever in the WhatsApp/Fakebook servers un-encrypted, they’re vulnerable. Rogue Facebook and WhatsApp employees who need a financial bonus have access to your data and sell it to unscrupulous buyers of which there is no shortage. Even Police, tax collectors and insurance companies have been known to buy this info to spy on individuals and businesses. Scammers also you this info, for example, when pretending to be your bank, to provide you private details to convince you to trust them.
-Deleted Messages Can Be Easily Read. When you delete a message, WhatsApp doesn’t remove it, instead WhatsApp hides the message and covers it with a label that says “? This message was deleted.” The message stays on the recipient’s device and a simple tool named WAMR (WhatsApp Message Recovery) can be used to read that deleted message with ease. Think the ‘Clear All Chat’ option will save you? It will not. All deleted messages are also backed up to the cloud, where it stays forever, accessable by WhatsApp and Facebook employees and their 3rd party contractors.
-Your Meta Data Is Shared. WhatsApp shares it’s users’ metadata with Fakebook and other companies. Information such as the person with whom you chat, how often you chat and which group chats you are a member of is all saved forever and shared. Metadata is also kept on your device unencrypted, visable by hackers. This data gives hugely valuable information about your network of acquaintances and the patterns of your life.

Brexit Hotline

The Spanish government has a hotline to answer all queries from Brits living in Spain about the implications of Brexit, in English. Callers can ring 060 when in Spain or +34 902 887060 if calling from abroad and an automated system will offer the choice of either Spanish or English.
You will then be offered a choice of information on the different issues.
The service also offers the option of speaking to an operator for those requiring further information or with a specific query not dealt with by the automated options. Source: https://www.thelocal.es/20200218/spain-launches-dedicated-brexit-hotline
