Be Aware of New Mask Rules Confusion: I am seeing conflicting info regarding mask use on the beach and in the campo in different media outlets and FB posts. So I am providing the Official announcement summary next, followed by some other takes on the issue. -Ed.

Official Junta de Andalucia Mask Update: Here are the highlights in English from a Google Translation. This provided link is to the Spanish original.

-The masks will be compulsory for people from six years onwards on public roads, in open air spaces and in any closed space for public use or that is open to the public, even if the interpersonal safety distance of 1.5 meters is kept.
-the mask is mandatory in air, sea, bus or rail transportation. Also, in complementary public and private transport of passengers in vehicles of up to nine seats, including the driver, if the occupants of tourism vehicles do not live together at the same address.
-The obligation to use the mask will not be enforceable for people with any type of illness or respiratory distress that may be aggravated by the use of the mask. Neither for those people who due to their disability or dependency situation do not have autonomy to remove the mask, or who present behavioral changes that make their use unfeasible.
-In the case of individual outdoor sport exercise, its use will not be required either, in cases of force majeure or a situation of need or when, due to the very nature of the activities, the use of the mask is incompatible, in accordance with the indications of the health authorities.
-Beaches and pools. On one hand, it is not necessary to wear the mask on beaches and pools during bathing and while staying in a certain space, as long as the interpersonal safety distance between users can be respected. On the other hand, for trips and walks on the beaches and swimming pools, the use of a mask will be mandatory.
-The Ministry of Health and Families emphasizes that its use is recommended in private open or closed spaces when there are meetings or a possible confluence of non-cohabitants, even when the safety distance can be guaranteed.
– Wakes and burials Order of June 19, 2020 is modified, highlighting that the wakes can be held in all kinds of facilities, public or private, with a maximum limit of 25 people in outdoor spaces or 10 people in closed spaces, whether or not they live together. Participation in the funeral or in the entourage for the burial or cremation of the deceased person is restricted to a maximum of twenty-five people, including family and friends, in addition, where appropriate, the minister of worship or similar person of the respective confession to the practice of funeral rites of farewell to the deceased.
-As for the sanctioning regime, the Andalusian Government will fine 100 euros for the breach of the obligation to wear the mask.

EWN Article- From Wednesday Masks Must Be Worn at All Times in Andalucia: Starting on Wednesday, July 15 (midnight tonight) everybody who is aged six or older will be forced to wear a mask at all times in public spaces, as this is the new law which has been decreed by the President of the Junta de Andalucia, Juanma Moreno.
The new policy will ensure that masks be worn at all times when using public spaces, even if the 1.5-metre social distance can be upheld, and even if you are outdoors or indoors.

The Rise of Almost Fake News (AFN) and The Curse of Clickbait:
News sources are mainly on the internet and television now as print media continues to shrink in popularity. While some news websites are now behind paywalls requiring a paid subscription to view, most still provide free content. As such, they rely on readers to click on items in their websites to generate income for the content they provide you. It does not have to be ads you click on for them to benefit, although that is a major income source. Websites are valued by how much traffic they receive. This is measured by the number of visits (hits) and clicked items. Any visit/click on their site adds to the total daily visits/clicks, thus increasing the value of the website. In order to gain as many clicks as possible mosy media outlets have abandoned journalistic integrity and now post “clickbait” headlines. While most of us are aware of blatant fake news sources online (as we were aware of scandal-sheet newspapers) and usually ignore them as “internet litter”, many formerly reliable news sources are now posting dubious articles, often with very misleading headlines, just to gain clicks. Editors are forced to prioritize click attractiveness over accurate information to maximize profitability. Thus the birth of “Almost Fake News” (AFN).
AFN distorts the facts of the story to make it appear ar if it is a huge breaking news item you must click on. Writers will take a quote from an informal speech or interview or gov’t comittee meeting and then write about it as if it is the new policy for some gov’t before it is a done deal. For instance, you see a headline that says “The Prime Minister Declares Curfiew”. So you panic and click it, only to discover at the bottom of the article it mentioned that this was only proposed by the PM and must still be formally debated and voted on! AFN! Or a headline reads, “Gov’t to Distribute Billions to the Needy”, when in fact the Congress had simply passed a small bill creating a committee to investigate the prospect, long before any funding has ever been committed.
We see that here in Spain with AFN headlines declaring the gov’t will distribute relief funds, when these rely to some extent on Spain receiving EU Bailout funds that have not yet been approved. The real story is that the topic is being negotiated, not that the funds are actually available.
Other examples of AFN are:
-Any proposal or concept can be presented with a headline suggesting that it is a fait accompli, but when clicked on you discover the article is written in a “what if this happened” fashion, totally supposition. Authors like this writing device as it frees them from relying on facts. Basically fiction presented as news. AFN!
“-Expert Says (pick a disaster) Looming” headline, yet reading the article reveals it is based on some obscure journal article by an academic discussing what might happen in some unlikely scenario. AFN!
These belong on the Opinions Page, or From Our Correspondent, or the Editorial Page, not as frontpage headlines. But desperate for clicks they appear on the frontpage. They don’t care if you continue to read once you’ve discovered the article was deceptively titled; by then they have your clicks.

New Facemask Regulations Expected to be Approved Monday: The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno, has announced his intention of making the use of face masks compulsory in all public places in the region. During a visit to Ceuta on Saturday, Moreno said that the measure would be considered on Monday at the meeting of medical experts who advise the regional authority on coronavirus policies.
The new Andalucian ruling would mean that masks must be worn in all public spaces, regardless of whether this distance can be observed. The regional governments in Catalonia, the Balearic Islands and Extremadura have already made similar moves to tighten the regulations on face masks. China’s Covid-19 story- coverup or conspiracy theory?: Scientists from the Wuhan laboratory close the original coronavirus outbreak have defected to the west, according to an incendiary claim from Steve Bannon, formerly Donald Trump’s White House chief strategist.
Speaking to the Mail on Sunday Mr Bannon sensationally claimed “defectors” from the nearby Wuhan Institute of Virology were cooperating with western intelligence services- although this has not been proven to be true.

Jet2 cancel all Scottish flights to Spain: In a shock announcement Jet2 has cancelled all flights from Scotland to Spain as a result of the 14-day quarantine rule still being in place.
Passengers travelling into Scotland from Spain have to go into isolation for 14 days after Nicola Sturgeon confirmed she would not yet allow an “air bridge” with the country. Windows 7 Hack Alert- Do Not Use ZOOM On Windows 7 or Earlier Systems: Despite having gone obsolete on Jan 14th some people insist on continuing to use Windows 7. To successfully exploit the zoom vulnerability, all an attacker needs to do is trick a Zoom user using Win 7 into performing some typical action like opening a received document file. No security warning is triggered or shown to the user at the time of the attack. Until Zoom releases a fix for the issue, users can temporarily stop using the Zoom client on their older versions of Windows, or update their OS to a newer version. Android Hack Alert- Joker Malware Apps Once Again Bypass Google’s Security to Spread via Play Store: First discovered in 2017, Joker is one of the most prevalent kinds of Android malware, notorious for perpetrating billing fraud and its spyware capabilities, including stealing SMS messages, contact lists, and device information. As of January 2020, Google has removed more than 1,700 apps submitted to the Play Store over the past three years that had been infected with the malware. To achieve the capability of subscribing the users to premium services without their knowledge or consent, the Joker utilized two main components — the Notification Listener as a part of the original application, and a dynamic dex file loaded from the C&C server to perform the registration.
For users who’ve installed any of the infected apps, it’s worth checking your mobile and transaction history to see if there are any suspicious payments that you don’t recognize. Spain’s nominee loses Eurogroup presidency in surprise defeat: Nadia Calviño was backed by Germany, France and Italy, and the reversal weakens the Spanish position ahead of a key summit on an EU coronavirus recovery fund.

Microplastics and parasites- A look inside the fish of the Western Mediterranean: Study finds a correlation between the presence of small synthetic fibers and the prevalence of worms in the guts of sardines and anchovies, two of the most commercialized species.
One theory is that the parasites could already be on the plastic at the time that the fish swallows the latter. Another possibility revolves around the river areas where waste is discharged, which makes the water dirtier and attracts more parasites.
Scientists have known for some time about the presence of microplastics in fish. In a recent article published in Environmental Pollution, Spanish researchers noted that over 65% of deep-sea shrimp on the Catalan coast have synthetic fibers in their stomachs and intestinal tracts. As for anchovies, it was proven last year that 83.3% of analyzed individuals had ingested microplastics in the eastern Mediterranean, while an earlier study found 90% of analyzed anchovies in the Adriatic Sea had plastics in their stomachs.
