Interpreter: I have used Pamela Walshe, the medical interpreter, for many years. Even if there were never a language problem , it is wonderful to be taken care of in the hospital , i.e. being able to sit and relax and not having to worry about missing ones place in the queue etc.
Recently, there has been an illness in my family, during which the liaison regarding appointments and treatment has been critical. Pamela played an important role in the happy outcome and I, again, am so glad that she works in our neck of the woods.

Danes start culling 2.5 million minks after virus hits farms: Danish veterinarians and farmers have begun culling at least 2.5 million minks in northern Denmark, authorities said Monday, after coronavirus has been reported in at least 63 farms. Microsoft Warns Android Users About A New Ransomware: Microsoft has warned about a new strain of mobile ransomware that takes advantage of incoming call notifications and Android’s Home button to lock the device behind a ransom note.
The findings concern a variant of a known Android ransomware family dubbed “MalLocker.B” which has now resurfaced with new techniques, including a novel means to deliver the ransom demand on infected devices as well as an obfuscation mechanism to evade security solutions.
No fix is available yet. 5G Fails To Deliver For Most Consumers: 5G skeptics have often said that this new level of networking capacity is far more to benefit Big Tech and their “The Internet of Things” (IoT), and that typical users will only see small increases in internet speeds on their communications devices. They were right! 5G has 2 “bands”, high (5+ times faster than 4G) and low (slightly faster than 4G). Worldwide, most 5G infrastructure dedicated to consumer level services only supports the “low” 5G.
I previously covered in DigameXtra:
-the UK 5G situation, where only a few cities will be able to support true high-speed 5G to average users.
-Apple, who is introducing the new phone on Tuesday, will need to walk a tightrope between enticing consumers to upgrade their phones while not over-promising what 5G can do today. Apple phones can handle “high” 5G, but few people will be able to access it.
The real improvements in speed and capacity 5G can offer will be reserved for IoT industrial and gov’t services for the next few years, so they can build smart-cities, and do advanced “instant response” functions like control self driving cars, robots and drones, as well as put transmitters in every appliance, traffic light, doorbell, servellience camera, utility meter, etc.
Big Tech wants to track and constantly monitor EVERYTHING in real time. 5G will give them a significant base by connecting everything, 6G will allow it all to function in real time. See next article for 6G features.

What is 6G? : It’ll be like 5G, but more so. 6G speeds are projected to exceed 1Tb/s, (1000 Gb/s), with even lower latency, and masses of bandwidth. Researchers and scientists are talking about 6G going beyond a “wired” network, with devices acting as antennas using a decentralized network not under the control of a single network operator. If everything connects together using 5G, 6G will set these connected devices free, as higher data speeds and lower latency make instant device-to-device connection possible.
While the technology we expect to emerge from 5G, from autonomous cars and drones to smart cities, will be enhanced further with 6G, it may also bring about sci-fi applications like the integration of our brains with computers, and greatly improved touch control systems. The report points toward the realm of science fiction becoming science fact, saying speeds in excess of 100Gbps could make possible sensory interfaces that feel and look just like real life, potentially through smart glasses or contact lenses. It goes on to talk about prioritizing low power consumption for over-the-air charging, and coverage that could be extended across the sea and even out into space. Apple’s new 5G iPhone could see coverage issues in the UK: British customers who purchase Apple’s new iPhone could struggle to connect to key parts of the country’s 5G network.
Telecoms industry insiders have warned that the iPhone, which Apple is due on Tuesday, may not connect to the 700MHz 5G band. This could leave customers searching for 5G coverage, analysts have warned. “If it doesn’t support 700MHz then you end up with coverage problems,” said Matthew Howett, principal analyst at Assembly. “The spectrum bands that the iPhone works on are crucially important,” he added.
Lower spectrum bands such as 700MHz are used to extend the coverage of phone networks, allowing signals to reach more remote areas of the country and to extend far beyond antennas.

Unreliable Cloud Services- Yes, it’s down again: Microsoft’s Office 365 takes yet another mid-week tumble: Microsoft says it is figuring out why its cloud-based unproductivity suite Office 365 is down yet again for unlucky subscribers.
“Users may see impact to Microsoft Teams, Exchange Online, Outlook.com, and SharePoint Online/OneDrive for Business,” punters are being told. “We’ve received reports of user impact to Microsoft 365 services and are working to investigate the cause of the issue.”
As users on Twitter have noted, the outages are starting to pile up for Office 358 and Azure, and it is definitely becoming an issue for folks. Various services on those two platforms were at least partially inaccessible for one reason or another twice last week, for instance.
More than four hours after the outage kicked off, Microsoft says its online services are back to normal except Outlook.com and Office 365’s Admin center, which are still said to be recovering.

-The first thing to do is make sure your device OS and apps are fully updated to current versions.
-If you continue to not receive blog emails, you must contact iCloud email support by phone (UK 0800 107 6285 / ES 900812703) or on-line ( https://support.apple.com/choose-country-region/icloud ) or by using the in-app “Help” function, and request they unblock the https://digamextra.com WordPress blog by “whitelisting” this address: donotreply@wordpress.com
It is a common problem that most Apple iCloud support workers are familiar with.

Government declares state of alarm in Madrid and locks down city: The order came into force on Friday to prevent residents from leaving the city for the 12 October holiday weekend. UN- New daily record as COVID-19 cases hit more than 350,000:
The World Health Organization has announced a new daily record high in coronavirus cases confirmed worldwide, with more than 350,000 infections reported to the U.N. health agency on Friday.
The new daily high of 350,766 cases surpasses a record set earlier this week by nearly 12,000.
That tally includes more than 109,000 cases from Europe alone.

55 New Security Flaws Reported in Apple Software and Services: The flaws — including 29 high severity, 13 medium severity, and 2 low severity vulnerabilities — could have allowed an attacker to “fully compromise both customer and employee applications, launch a worm capable of automatically taking over a victim’s iCloud account, retrieve source code for internal Apple projects, fully compromise an industrial control warehouse software used by Apple, and take over the sessions of Apple employees with the capability of accessing management tools and sensitive resources.”
The flaws mean that a bad actor could easily hijack a user’s iCloud account and steal all the photos, calendar information, videos, and documents, in addition to forwarding the same exploit to all of their contacts.
After they were responsibly disclosed to Apple, the iPhone maker took steps to patch the flaws, some within 1-2 business days, with a few others fixed within a short span of 4-6 hours. Others remain unpatched.
So far, Apple has processed about 28 of the vulnerabilities with a total payout of $288,500 as part of its “bug bounty program” (where Apple allows the public to do Apple’s beta testing rather than properly debugging the software themselves before they sell it, MS does the same. -Ed).

Recommendation for Doctor Laptop: I have been using Naythan, Doctor Laptop, for approximately 6 years now and can honestly say, that when it comes to PC´s & laptops, no-one knows more. Andalusia has registered, for the second day in a row, its record of new infections in a single day. This Thursday, it has touched 2,000 cases again and has added another 20 deaths, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Health and Families.
However, according to the hospital figures, the pandemic is subsiding. Proof of this is that hospitalized patients have fallen for the second day in a row and this Thursday there are 30 fewer people in Andalusian hospitals due to coronavirus than 24 hours ago.
In this way, there hospitalized are 1,028 today, 139 of them in the ICU . In intensive care, in addition, Andalusia has also added two days of reducing admissions.

Will An Apple Update Be The End Of Facebook’s Business Model?:
Facebook Chief Revenue Officer David Fischer said Tuesday that models that rely on personalized advertising are “under assault” as Apple readies a change that will limit Facebook’s abilities to measure its ads.
Apple’s change was previously planned as a feature in iOS 14, the version of the iPhone operating system released last month, but Apple said it was delaying the rollout until 2021.
The change to Apple’s identifier for advertisers, or IDFA, will give iPhone users the option to block tracking when opening an app.

Advice please: I wonder if anyone can offer any advice on the following?
Back in February we purchased a fridge/freezer from a large electrical retailer near Malaga. It stopped working in mid September. We reported it to the shop as it was still under guarantee. They have been not only unhelpful but have really given us the runaround. We have been told they would send out engineers who never appeared in spite of us waiting in all day for them. Eventually one came last Thursday morning and another came on Thursday afternoon but neither had any tools and then didn’t come back on the specified date with the necessary tools.
The staff in the shop were difficult to the point of nastiness and kept shouting at us Spanish. We kept telling them we had no Spanish but that pmade no difference. It didn’t seem to matter when they were taking our money.
Eventually an engineer came yesterday and told us the fridge was unrepairable. We went to the shop today to be told that the engineers report had to be authorised. We have now been without a fridge/freezer for 19 days (in the current temperatures this is has been very difficult). We asked for the complaints book and were given 2 pieces of paper (I assume because of COVID 19) but they wouldn’t let us take them out of the shop and as we have no Spanish we felt unable to fill them in adequately.
My questions are-
Can they refuse to allow us to take the complaint form to complete at home or to ask a solicitor to intervene on our behalf?
Is there a government body we can report this matter to (Office of Fair Trading or similar)?
If anyone can advise I would appreciate it. I’ll never enter this shop again but it might save someone else the frustration to know their rights. Jan, Velez Malaga,

Can’t get a DGT appointment to exchange driving licence in Spain? Don’t panic: “The DGT are aware that there are difficulties getting appointments ot exchange licence and are looking to open up more appointments soon, although we don’t have exact date for that,” said Lorna Geddie, consular policy advisor in Madrid said in a recent Facebook Live Q&A session.
“They will set up a form that UK licence holders can complete and submit to the DGT by December 25th that will be pre-registration or a first step in the exchange process. What the DGT will be able to do is on basis of information on that form then verify your licence. The new mask mandate was contained in a government decree extending the state of emergency until Jan. 31. Black Tuesday in Andalusia. The community has registered this Tuesday 30 deaths from coronavirus . This is the highest figure since May 1, the community thus doubles the number of fatalities since Monday, when 16 were registered. However, if compared to the previous seven days, the growth is not so high. At least in four days of last week the 20 deaths from Covid-19 were exceeded.
The dead are concentrated mainly in the province of Seville, where up to eleven deaths have been registered in the last 24 hours. In Jaén there have been seven; in Malaga, six; in Córdoba four have been scored; and in the province of Granada, two.
As for the number of infections, the figure for this Tuesday is 1,788 new cases if compared to yesterday’s data. However, the Ministry of Health has changed the way in which positives are counted and has included those confirmed by antigen tests in the last 24 hours. In this way, there are 300 more cases that, in reality, do not correspond to today .
Thus, the real number of new infections in Andalusia this Tuesday is 1,455. Most of them are concentrated in the province of Seville, where there are 494 positives . It is followed by Granada in number of cases, where 235 positives have been registered.
Behind are Malaga, with 179; Cádiz, with 174; Córdoba, with 142; Jaén, with 138; Almería, with 70; and Huelva, with only 29 new cases since this Monday. The French police are investigating possible crimes of organized fraud and sports corruption linked to a first round match at Roland Garros , the third ‘Grand Slam’ of the season, the Paris Prosecutor’s Office confirmed on Tuesday.
The confirmation came a day after the German newspaper Die Welt and the French sports newspaper L’Equipe reported that police were investigating a first-round match in the women’s doubles competition. Reports said that a particular game in the match in question had raised suspicions.
The prosecutor’s office did not provide details on what was suspected other than possible charges. The investigation was opened on October 1 and was being carried out by a police department specializing in gambling and horse racing.

Two kittens looking for a loving home: Last weekend someone dumped two kittens in my garden. The kittens are very affectionate and used to humans. That means that someone has had them for several time and suddenly decided to dump them in someone elses garden! It makes me furious. The kittens can´t help it and perhaps it is even better that they have been released from someone who isn´t able to treat living beings in a responsible way. Monday I took them to the vet. The cats (male, ginger and female, sand coloured) are well fed and about 6 months old. They have been treated for worms and had an antibiotic injection. For several reasons I can´t keep them. So is there anyone in Digameland who is willing to give these adorable creatures (just one or perhaps the both) a loving home?

Covid-19 Update- Four people die from Covid in the last day in Andalusia, 19 less than on Friday: {Full article translated from https://seville.abc.es} Updated 04/10/2020 17:41h
-Another outbreak is declared in a reception center of the Red Cross of Almería, with 31 infected.
-Second consecutive day with less than a thousand hospitalized for Covid-19 in Andalusia.
-Four people died on Saturday in Andalusia from coronavirus, 19 less than on Friday, which means that the deaths from Covid-19 plummet, exactly 83%, according to sources from the Ministry of Health and Families of the autonomous community. The latest deaths from coronavirus have taken place in the province of Almería (2) -one of them in a nursing home- and in Córdoba (2). The deaths so far by Covid-19 in the community already amount to 1,910.
-Regarding hospitalizations, they have increased by 53 in the last 24 hours , currently standing at 998 patients in Andalusian health centers, with which the community has been hospitalized for two consecutive days. Of the total of admitted, 156 (16%) are in intensive care units (ICU).
-33% of those hospitalized are in Seville and 16% in Malaga . Of the infections in the ICU, the provinces with the highest number are Seville, Malaga and Cádiz.
-By provinces: In Almería there are 39 hospitalized (12 in ICU); 117 in Cádiz (25 in intensive care); 120 in Córdoba (16 in ICU); 115 in Granada (15 in ICU); 22 in Huelva (2 in intensive care); 87 in Jaén (14 in ICU); 163 in Malaga (25 in ICU) and 335 in Seville (47 in intensive care).

In the case of the self-employed in the leisure and recreation sectors, including children , the economic losses due to the continued closure of their businesses are valued, so the aid allocated is of a greater amount.
With an initial budget of 9 million euros , the decree establishes that the available credits can be expanded later in the event that the aid runs out and without the need to open new calls for incentives, so it is expected that it will initially benefit some 9,400 self-employed workers .
There are seven million for the self-employed who can receive 900 euros, while the line for the nightlife sector represents the other two million.
Requirements to apply for aid to the self-employed
Self-employed workers with registered office in Andalusia , who are registered in the Special Social Security Scheme of the group on March 14, when the state of alarm was declared, and who maintain the registration four months from the start date of the call for aid.
