ANDALUCIA

The whole of Andalucía remains at Covid health alert Level 0 – with no new capacity or opening hour restrictions: The whole of the Andalucía region will remain at coronavirus health alert Level 0, it was decided this Wednesday, 1 December.
As a result no new measures have been adopted to limit capacity or hours in bars and restaurants in an attempt to stop the transmission of the coronavirus.
The indications are that the next meetings of the Junta’s territorial committees will probably now be held after the long ‘puente’ of public holidays, which includes Constitution Day on Monday and the Immaculate Conception on Wednesday. Andalusia opens the schedules of vaccination with a third dose at age 60 years: {Translation} 1Dec21 13:00
-The Andalusian Health Service (SAS) has already opened the schedules for self-citation for the third dose of messenger RNA vaccines (Pfizer or Moderna) to people aged 60 to 64 years, after this possibility was opened last 22nd for those aged 65 to 69. This third dose will be inoculated as long as six months have elapsed since the second dose of messenger RNA or three months since the second dose of AstraZeneca. Pfizer or Moderna vaccine may be administered regardless of the vaccine previously received.
-People from 60 to 64 years of age can already request an appointment for the administration of this third dose through the usual channels: the SAS website through ClicSalud+, the mobile application and the Salud Responde telephone number (955 54 50 60) and also at their health center, preferably by telephone.
Currently, 1,054,724 Andalusians have already received the third dose. Source, Spanish: https://www.axarquiahoy.es/articulo/salud/andalucia-abre-agendas-vacunacion-tercera-dosis-mayores-60-anos/20211201102528045002.html

MALAGA

Six villages in Malaga at very high or high risk from Covid: {Translation} 1Dec21 17:30
-Six towns in the province of Malaga are at very high or high risk of spreading Covid. Among the first -which are those with a rate of more than 500 cases per 100,000 inhabitants- are Benarrabá, with an incidence of 672.6; Macharaviaya, with 584.8 and Monda, with 519.1. Among the second group -which includes those municipalities with a rate of 300 to 500 positives per 100,000 inhabitants- are Periana, with 323.7; Alozaina, with 388.2 and Coín, with 414.6.
-By health districts, there are four at medium risk, which are those whose rate ranges from 100 to 300 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. These are the Costa del Sol (134.6), Malaga (112.7), Serrania (152.7) and Guadalhorce (125.4). Axarquia (97.0) is at low risk and La Vega de Antequera (49.0) is in a “controlled situation”.
-The province as a whole is at medium risk, with a rate of 117.0 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. The incidence is 2.3 points less than the previous day, which is the first decrease in three weeks. However, this rate of 117.0 positive cases per 100,000 inhabitants is double the rate recorded on November 10, when it was 52.1.

Tennis News- Inspired Djokovic powers Serbia into Davis Cup semi-finals: Imperious Novak Djokovic sent Serbia into a Davis Cup semi-final against Croatia as the world number one inspired a comeback victory over Kazakhstan in Madrid on Wednesday.
Serbia had their backs to the wall when Kazakh veteran Mikhail Kukushkin beat debutant Miomir Kecmanovic in a three-hour epic in the first singles rubber.
But Djokovic calmly levelled the tie with a straight-sets defeat of Alexander Bublik before returning to court to team up with Nikola Cacic and beat Kazakh pair Andrey Golubev and Aleksandr Nedovyesov 6-2 2-6 6-3. WTA suspends tournament play in China over concern for Peng Shuai’s safety: In the strongest public stand against China taken by a sports body, the head of the women’s professional tennis tour announced Wednesday that all WTA tournaments there would be suspended because of concerns about the safety of Peng Shuai, a Grand Slam doubles champion who accused a former government official of sexual assault.
Peng dropped out of public view after raising the allegations about former vice premier Zhang Gaoli in a Nov. 2 social media posting that was quickly taken down by Chinese authorities. OTHER

Edge Browser- Users rage against Microsoft for integrating ‘buy now, pay later’ app into Edge: Microsoft announced plans a few weeks ago to build the Zip app directly into its Edge browser. The short-term financing service gives users the option to sign up on checkout pages when they enter their credit card number. It also appears as a prompt on a web page in some cases.
Zip appears when Edge detects you’re about to buy something priced between $35 and $1,000. There are no up-front payments, and it’s all interest-free—you just make four payments over six weeks. Zip charges $1 per payment, adding $4 to the total cost, and while that’s a good deal when paying $1,000, it’s an extra 11% when buying something for $35.
In addition to what appears to be greediness on Microsoft’s part and the fact that this is adding more bloatware to Edge, there are also security concerns around Zip’s addition. Moreover, it has the potential to land some people in financial difficulties.
Microsoft made Edge a much more appealing prospect when it officially moved to a Chromium-based version last year, but nagging Bing alerts and third-party integrations haven’t helped its cause. Halting Erosion using Vetiver:
From Vetiver Spain in Sayalonga
Our Nursery is open by appointment. Please email or call first. We have Moringa seedlings, Organic Moringa powder and Comfrey plants. We also have some local trees and some exotic trees from Africa.
Vetiver is a rapid growing and non-invasive sterile clump grass with a height of 1-2 metres and a root system of 3-4 metres in depth. We have been providing Vetiver throughout the EU for almost 10 years now. We are located in Sayalonga where we can plant year round but our best results by far start in February. The reason is that Vetiver is indigenous to India and Vetiver loves the heat of the summer. Use Vetiver cuttings as mulch around all of your fruit trees. Decomposing Vetiver improves soil quality, keeps the weeds down and the insects away all while helping to maintain soil moisture.
Vetiver is a nutritious and replenishable animal fodder. Horses and pigs love it. We use it in our chicken pens replacing hay because it stops mites.
In the 2 photos below you will see land prepared for Vetiver and the results 2 years later.
We also use Vetiver along driveways and sidewalks. It also makes a great and inexpensive ornamental hedge.
Here is a link to a short video showing the results.
https://youtu.be/rjTmb_LL2uo
We suggest planting now, as this is the BEST time of the year to plant.

The Junta will request the ‘Covid passport’ for nightlife if the region’s top court endorses it for hospitals and nursing homes: The Junta de Andalucía plans to request the endorsement of the region’s top court, the TSJA, to implement the Covid passport – the obligation to present a vaccination certificate – to allow access to nightlife venues.

Spain to stop unvaccinated Brits arriving from Wednesday: Spain is to ban all unvaccinated Brits from entering the country from Wednesday after the new Omicron variant was discovered in England.
According to the Government the change will come in from December 1 and will impact everyone aged 12 and over who plans to travel to the UK’s most popular holiday destination.
Currently anyone travelling to Spain from the UK needs to show either a negative coronavirus test or proof showing they have been double-jabbed.
But the rules will now change after three cases of the Omicron coronavirus strain were discovered in the UK – one is Essex, one in Nottingham, and one in London.
A message posted on the Gov.uk website states: “From December 1, all arrivals to Spain from the UK (excluding children under the age of 12 years old) must present proof of vaccination.”
From December anyone arriving in Spain will also have to fill out a health control form and show their vaccination record.
Travellers will have to show they have had both of their jabs at least 14 days before arriving in the country. Full article: https://www.msn.com/en-gb/money/other/spain-to-stop-unvaccinated-brits-arriving-from-wednesday/ar-AARdQCq

EUROPE

Greece to fine over-60s who refuse Covid-19 vaccine: Fines of €100 (£85) will be imposed at monthly intervals from mid-January on those who refuse, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said.
The money will go towards the Greek health system, which is struggling with a surge in hospital admissions.
About 63% of Greece’s 11-million population is fully vaccinated, but data show more than 520,000 people over 60 are yet to get the jab.
“Greeks over the age of 60… must book their appointment for a first jab by January 16,” the premier said in a statement to the cabinet.
“Their vaccination is henceforth compulsory.”
The measure is still to be put to a parliamentary vote, he said, but lawmakers are widely expected to approve it. Full article: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-59474808
