Going to / from Airport: The information from Nerja Foreigners office is that you are allowed to go to the airport. I landed last week at 10.30pm. My husband collected me. There were no police on the roads but we were stopped at the exit to Nerja. We showed the Guardia Civil my flight details, passenger locator form (QR code) and my passport. Scotland Shuts its doors: Entering the country from the rest of the UK is banned. Crossing the Scottish border will be illegal from the end of this week under sweeping new Covid restrictions which critics have described as ‘deeply flawed’.
As of 6pm on Friday, entering or leaving Scotland without a reasonable excuse is banned and anyone caught doing so could be slapped with a £60 fine.
People living within Level Three or Level Four lockdown areas – which includes vast swathes of central Scotland – are also not permitted to leave their area.
But First Minister Nicola Sturgeon has been hit with claims that the rules cannot be legally put in place by Scottish parliament – sparking fears that lockdown-defying travellers could dispute their fines.
Futhermore, a list of bizarre exceptions have been put in place which would allow the travel rules to be breached.

Exemptions to the travel ban also apply for more common essential travel reasons, including for health, work or for school.
It also emerged that people who are banned from travelling to an airport because of the rules are unlikely to receive compensation if their flight goes ahead.

‘Crazy ant’ species invades Costa del Sol homes: The so-called ‘crazy ant’ species, or Paratrechina longicornis, has been spotted in Malaga and Axarquia.
The tiny ants don’t bite humans, but they can be invasive as they often enter homes to find food, particularly fruit. They can also take over outdoor spaces as they feed on aphids. The Junta de Andalucía will process ” in order of entry and up to the limit of the budget allocation” applications to receive direct aid of 1,000 euros for self-employed or self-employed workers who carry out their activity in the hospitality, commerce, transport sectors by taxi, hairdresser and fairs affected by the restrictions derived from the state of alarm due to the Covid-19 coronavirus pandemic and will have a maximum period of two months “to notify the resolution of the concession procedure.”
This is stated in Decree-Law 29/2020, of November 17, which establishes urgent measures for the maintenance of the activity of certain economic sectors and of tax support to the gaming sector as a consequence of the situation caused by the Covid-19 coronavirus and goes into effect this Thursday.
Said decree-law regulates the line of subsidies endowed with 80 million euros included in the new support plan for SMEs and the self-employed designed by the Junta de Andalucía and which plans to benefit 80,000 self-employed or self-employed workers who carry out their activity in the sectors of hospitality, commerce, taxi transport, hairdressing shops and trade fairs affected by the restrictions derived from the state of alarm due to the pandemic to help sustain its continuity, avoiding its definitive cessation and the consequent destruction of employment.
Only ten days deadline
The standard, consulted by Europa Press, will allow requesting assistance with a responsible declaration that the required requirements are met and will set a deadline for submitting applications of ten calendar days from the day following publication of the publication of the extract of call in the BOJA.
To this end, it establishes that “self-employed or self-employed workers, with tax domicile in Andalusia, who were registered in the Special Regime of Social Security for Self-Employed or Self-Employed Workers , in The date of entry into force of Royal Decree 463/2020, of March 14, which declares the state of alarm for the management of the health crisis situation caused by Covid-19, maintaining that until the day on which the deadline for submitting applications begins ”.
In the case of the hospitality, commerce, transport and hairdressing sectors, the Board establishes that the applicants are not beneficiaries “of any of the extraordinary benefits of cessation of activity regulated in articles 13 and 14 of Royal Decree-Law 30/2020 , of September 29, of social measures in defense of employment, of the provision of cessation of activity compatible with self-employment or of the extension of the benefits already caused under the protection of article 9 of Royal Decree-Law 24/2020 , of June 26, of social measures to reactivate employment and protection of self-employment and competitiveness in the industrial sector, regulated in the fourth additional provision of the aforementioned Royal Decree-Law 30/2020, of September 29 ”.
The decree-law determines that the beneficiaries of the subsidies “will be obliged to maintain their status as self- worker employed or autonomous , continuing to be registered in the Special Regime of Social Security for Self-Employed or Self-Employed Workers without interruption, for at least three months counting from the day following the one on which the period begins application submission . They must also notify the competent body “as soon as it is known” if after submitting the application they are beneficiaries of extraordinary benefits declared incompatible.
The rule establishes that the grant award procedure “will be processed and resolved in a non-competitive competition regime “, the grants will be awarded “in accordance with the principles of publicity, transparency, competition, objectivity, equality and non-discrimination” and its Management will be carried out “with criteria of effectiveness in meeting the objectives set and efficiency in the allocation and use of public resources.”
Telematic presentation
Subsidy applications will be submitted “solely and exclusively online” and will be completed in a form that will be available at the virtual office of the Ministry of Employment, Training and Self-Employed Work, which can be accessed through the catalog of administrative procedures available at the link , and must include an electronic device and / or the email address of the interested party.
In addition, it must accompany a responsible statement by which the applicant states under his responsibility that he “meets the requirements” to obtain the subsidy; that “it is not involved in any of the circumstances that prohibit obtaining” the status of beneficiary; and that “it has not requested or obtained other subsidies, aid, income or resources requested and, where appropriate, granted, for the same purpose, by any Public Administrations or public or private entities, national or international , which, individually or in concurrence with other subsidies or aid exceeds the amount of the subsidy ”. In the case of having requested or obtained other subsidies, aid, income or resources, the declaration must indicate “the grantor, date and amount” .
The rule establishes that the deadline for submitting applications will be “10 calendar days from the day following the publication of the extract of the call in the BOJA ” or “up to the limit of the budget allocation that, by resolution of the holder of the Directorate General competent in matters of self-employment, will be made public on the website of the Ministry responsible for this matter ”. It also establishes that “applications submitted after the deadline will be inadmissible” and a period of ten days is established to be able to “correct” data not completed or documentation not provided.
By order of arrival
Regarding the processing of the aid, the decree-law details that «the instruction and resolution of the applications will be carried out following the correlative order of entry in the single telematic registry of the Administration of the Junta de Andalucía, and up to the limit of the budget allocation, if any, unless these have to be corrected not qualify or not accompanied by the required documentation, which will be considered in the order of priority to be followed for resolution, the date the applications meet the requirements and / or the required documentation , once the absence or insufficiency that may have been appreciated by the Administration has been corrected. ”
It also determines that grant applications “will be processed, resolved and notified individually” and in the procedure “the hearing process will be dispensed with.” Resolutions must be “motivated” and the maximum term to resolve and notify the resolution of the granting procedure “will be two months from the date the application has entered the single telematic registry of the Administration of the Junta de Andalucía” .
This maximum period of two months may be extended “in accordance with the provisions of article 23 of Law 39/2015, of October 1”, a rule that establishes that “exceptionally, when the available personal and material resources have been exhausted, the competent body to resolve may agree in a reasoned way to extend the maximum period of resolution and notification, this may not be greater than that established for the processing of the procedure. The president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno , will preside next Sunday the meeting of the Advisory Committee on High Impact Public Health Alerts to analyze the evolution of the coronavirus pandemic and decide whether to “extend, make more flexible or toughen” the restrictions that were activated at 00.00 hours on November 10 and that will be in force until 00.00 hours on Tuesday 24.
This was announced by the Minister of the Presidency, Public Administration and the Interior, Elías Bendodo, at the press conference after the weekly meeting of the Governing Council, where he warned that if the curve of contagions, hospital admissions and ICU admissions is not reduced “we will have to continue taking measures, whatever is necessary.”
Bendodo has assured that the objective of the Andalusian Government with these measures is that next December, “if the curve allows it, can be made more flexible the economy and open a little to save the Christmas season “, and has insisted on the message that “we cannot relax for a minute” because “we are risking the future of an entire generation.”
Moreno himself warned this Tuesday on his Twitter account that the “slight drop” in the incidence data of the Covid-19 coronavirus in the autonomous community during the last two days “is still insufficient” and has defended that “we cannot relax for a single minute. A European rocket carrying Spanish and French satellites worth $370 million crashed shortly after launch early Tuesday: The failure is a major blow not only to countries that lost satellites and the European Space Agency but for Arianespace, the European manufacturer of the Vega rocket.
Vega rockets, which launch satellites into orbit, have failed on two of their last three missions.
The last failure was July 2019 when a rocket was carrying a military spy satellite for the United Arab Emirates.
“We deeply apologise towards our customers,” company CEO Stephane Israel tweeted Tuesday.
The latest rocket was launched late Monday from French Guyana (0152GMT Tuesday) and continued for eight minutes, after which it veered off course and the launch team lost control of the rocket. Eventually, it fell onto an uninhabited area, the company said in a statement.

Football News- Spain Deals Germany Its Worst Defeat Ever, Reaches Nations League Final Four: Spain handed Germany its worst defeat in a competitive match on Wednesday, winning 6-0 to advance to the Final Four of UEFA’s Nations League.
Ferran Torres scored a hat trick to lead Spain to the historic victory in the win-or-go-home match in Group 4.
Germany’s only five-goal loss in a competitive game had been West Germany’s 8-3 defeat to Hungary at the 1954 World Cup group stage. West Germany went on to beat Hungary in the final. In non-competitive matches, Germany had also lost 6-0 to Austria in a friendly in 1931.

Club World Cup in Qatar rescheduled for February: Qatar will host the coronavirus-delayed Club World Cup, an important test event ahead of the 2022 World Cup, in February, FIFA said on Tuesday.
The Club World Cup, which had been due to be played in Doha in December of this year, will instead be held from February 1 to 11, 2021.

Torrox Costa Bakery Closures: On my way to the Monday morning market I noticed the German bakery next to Bar Amsterdam, Avenida America was closed and has a notice in the window, in German only. My reading of it is that due to the current situation they are either temporarily closed, or have restricted hours. The recently established Spanish bakery on the market street, run by some very nice younger folks, is now totally empty and the signage removed.

Andalucia starts the second week with restrictions on non-essential activity with a decrease of new infections . The community registers this Monday, November 16, 2,127 positives confirmed by PCR and antigen tests, which represents 1,202 fewer cases than those recorded on Monday last week.

Regarding the care pressure in hospitals , this Monday the reduction of patients that began at the end of last week was broken by adding another 90 patients admitted , which places the total occupation in 3,269 beds, of which 505 are ICU beds; two more than on Sunday.
In relation to its healthcare resources, Granada continues to be the province with the highest healthcare burden with 776 patients of which 131 are critical. It is followed by Seville, although with more than 798 hospitalized, it has 126 in the ICU. The third province in terms of hospitalized patients is Malaga with 389 patients, of which 56 are critical in the ICU.
The Board has reported this Monday of a new outbreak in the Velez-Malaga Seniors Residence with 26 confirmed cases. 15 residents and 11 workers. Spain introduces new process for British driving licence swap:
The DGT has come up with a new system that went live on Monday November 16th that creates a two-step process to enable UK nationals to complete stage one before the end of year deadline even if they are unable to secure a coveted cita previa at a local DGT office.
As long as Brits living in Spain have registered their application before this December 30th deadline then they will have six months to complete the second step of the process at a DGT office. macOS Big Sur Is Bricking Some Older MacBook Pros: Now that macOS Big Sur has been released, we’re sure that some of you might be rushing out to upgrade to the latest version of macOS. However, before you do that, it should be noted that according to several user reports on the MacRumors forum, it appears that the latest update is bricking some older MacBook Pro models.
There have also been other reports sighted on Reddit and the Apple Support Communities. According to these reports, users are claiming that during the course of update to Big Sur, their laptops suddenly display a black screen and appears to be stuck that way. Users have tried resetting their laptops in a variety of ways, but apparently they are unable to and have not been able to bypass the black screen.
It is unclear if all MacBook Pros are affected by this, but so far a lot of the reports come from users who own the 2013 and mid-2014 13-inch MacBook Pro models, but this isn’t to say that newer models or the larger 15-inch or 16-inch models aren’t affected as well, just perhaps on a smaller scale. New residencia cards for British people in Spain: Surely I can’t be the only Digamite puzzled by Christine’s post on Sunday about not being able to obtain the new resident’s card despite having lived and worked here (from what she said) for many years?
The rights of freedom of movement between EU countries started in 1993 (the UK being a member from 1973 and Spain from 1986) so I’m not sure how long she has been here. We obtained residencias in the early 2000s when the process was much simpler and neither of us worked or were of pension age. If someone has lived and worked here for some years and has not yet applied for residencia, then I’m not sure why any particular organisation should be looking at their ‘problem’

Big Tech News- Technology companies’ services could be banned in EU: Technology companies’ services could be banned from the European market if they do not heed EU regulation, Europe’s industry chief Thierry Breton told German weekly Welt am Sonntag, as the European Commission finalizes rules on internet companies.
Breton will announce new draft rules known as the Digital Services Act and the Digital Markets Act together with European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager on Dec. 2.
The rules will set out a list of do’s and don’ts for gatekeepers – online companies with market power – forcing them to share data with rivals and regulators and not to promote their services and products unfairly.
The new draft rules come as critics of U.S. tech giants, which include companies and industry bodies, question the EU’s rulings against Alphabet GOOGL.O unit Google, saying they have not curbed its allegedly anti-competitive behaviour. Some want EU enforcers to go further than just ordering companies to stop such practices.
The draft rules would allow the EU to ban companies or part of their services from the 27-country bloc as an extreme option. Until the draft rules are adopted EU antitrust and digital regulators do not currently have the power to impose such bans.
“Strict rules must be enforceable”, Breton told Welt am Sonntag.

If we get locked down again and you have computer problems you may not be able to deliver it to me for repairs. A proper servicing is the best way to avoid breakdowns. New computers, especially budget priced models by major manufacturers, are in short supply due to shipping disruptions. Those that are available are being sold at significant markups over 2019 prices. So keeping what you have in good condition would be wise.
-The basic guideline is if you use your computer 2 hours a day, get it serviced annually to maintain optimal performance, especially if you do online banking and shopping. If used 6 to 8 hours a day, then servicing every 6 months is advisable.
-If you are relying on a laptop, you need to know the life expectancy of recent laptops is only 4-5 yrs, pre-2015 laptops had a 5-7 yr expected lifespan. Keeping them maintained properly can extend that another few years. Installing a new Hard Drive and installing a fresh copy of Windows and adding more RAM all can bring great performance improvements in older models. Even Microsoft recommends reinstalling Windows after 5 years.

Some of us are unable to meet the requirements to obtain these cards. When the UK became a member of the EU some of us got on our bikes, travelled to Spain and became “entrepreneurs” of one kind or another. We took short-term contracts where available (like majority of young Spanish people) or nothing “legal” at all, like countless other people just trying to earn a living. Now we are left high and dry. Does anyone know of any organisations / groups looking at this issue? Particularly in relation to Brexit?

The Malaga City Council is going to buy 30,000 antigen tests to promote a Covid-19-free environment in the service sector, mainly in hotels and restaurants. Customers will be able to undergo the test for a symbolic price of two euros , when the cost is usually around 50 or 60 euros.
The initiative is part of an agreement that the Consistory will sign this Friday with the Association of Hoteliers of Malaga (Mahos) and the Association of private clinics in the province. It is one of the lines of work of the project launched by the City Council so that the capital is consolidated as a safe destination against the coronavirus.
The tests will be purchased through the municipal company Promálaga and will be provided to privately owned clinics that join the agreement. They will be the ones who will make the infrastructure and personnel necessary to carry out the tests available, as reported this Friday by Málaga Hoy.

Lost: I lost my watch, a Fitbit Charge 3, on Friday 13th November somewhere between Tizos at El Ingenio at about 2.15pm and the Hospital Comarcal in Velez Malaga where I noticed it missing at around 2.35 pm. I have enquired in El Ingenio, at Tizos and in the hospital with no success, but suspect it may have slipped from my wrist while walking between the car and one of these areas as the strap had come loose before. I was down on the coast for a hospital appointment and had gone to Tizos first for some lunch. I’ll not be able to return to the area any time soon because of the restriction of movement, so am hoping that someone has spotted it – it is very distinctive with an apple green silicone strap – and picked it up to hand in somewhere. The march started out as a small group, but soon grew in size, getting a lot louder, with the crowd at one point stretching to the end of Calle Larios, and with some very prominent figures from the hospitality industry taking part, including Javier Frutos, who is the president of the local restaurateurs’ association Mahos, accompanied by Rafael Prado from Café Central, and José Cobos, joint owner of El Pimpi, along with owners of numerous chiringuitos, and also some representatives of local companies who supply the bar and restaurant industry.
Frutos stated, “They said that nobody would be left behind, but we have been. We feel unprotected and we have no help”.
A similar protest took place Thursday evening in Ronda as well.

All municipal boundaries in Andalucía closed on Tuesday, with curfew now from 10pm to 7am, and non-essential businesses shutting at 6pm.

Editor’s Note: Sorry, I am reluctant to post most new What’s On events. There have been many cancellations the last few days. There appears to be some confusion regarding the new Covid restrictions in the hospitality sector, and how they are being applied in each municipality. I’ve also heard of difficulty for musicians moving between municipalities (see post below). I had 3 cancellations today, just hours after they were submitted, all due to “new rule” enforcement.
If you are a venue, restaurant or band, and you are reasonably sure you have a show/event happening within a week, I will post those. But for now, with the spectre of stricter Covid regulations on the horizon (see second article in today’s News Section), I see no point in posting events more than a week in advance. We will know more about the Covid & Curfew situation by Nov 23. DigameXtra Sponsors may ignore this.

New device puts music in your head — no headphones required: That’s the possibility presented by “sound beaming,” a new futuristic audio technology from Noveto Systems, an Israeli company. On Friday it will debut a desktop device that beams sound directly to a listener without the need for headphones. The listening sensation is straight out of a sci-fi movie. The 3-D sound is so close it feels like it’s inside your ears while also in front, above and behind them.
The lack of headphones means it’s possible to hear other sounds in the room clearly.
The technology uses a 3-D sensing module and locates and tracks the ear position sending audio via ultrasonic waves to create sound pockets by the user’s ears. Sound can be heard in stereo or a spatial 3-D mode that creates 360 degree sound around the listener, the company said.
While the concept of sound beaming is not new, Noveto was the first to launch the technology and their SoundBeamer 1.0 desktop device will be the first branded consumer product.

Chrome Browser Hacked, Again: Google has patched two more zero-day flaws in the Chrome web browser for desktop, making it the fourth and fifth actively exploited vulnerabilities addressed by the search giant in recent weeks.
The company has released a patch update 86.0.4240.198 for Windows, Mac, and Linux, which it said will be rolling out over the coming days/weeks to all users.
